One of our favorite domestic Fair Trade organizations is Native Harvest, of the White Earth Land Recovery Project in Minnesota.

What could be more representative of Native American food traditions than Hominy Corn? Native Harvest says of this BuzzFlash premium, "Hominy is our specially prepared dried corn. First, we take ashes from burning hardwood, then we mix these with the corn. Finally, the corn is dried and served in stews or sauteed with salt and butter."

And, of course, you are helping employ Native Americans of the Ojibwe (Anishinaabeg) Tribe, as well as assisting them in preserving their land and way of life, including the traditional harvesting of corn and wild rice in Minnesota.

It is a way of monetarily giving back to the people from whose land America became a nation. And it is a way of celebrating their traditions.

You can find more Native Harvest products at http://www.BuzzFlashMarketplace.com.

As the Native Harvest catalog comments: "Our lands, our lakes, our forests, and our hard work harvesting wild rice, corn, maple syrup and berries, make this catalog possible.

"As we Anishinaabeg (Ojibwe)struggle to overcome three generations of inequities, we have taken every recourse, from Congress to the courts. Now, we draw upon prayers, the work of our hands, and your support, which assists in the many programs of the White Earth Land Recovery Project in recovering what is our lifeblood.

"Your purchases help support our work, our economy, ecology and our way of life for generations to come."

BuzzFlash started Fair Trade Monday so that our readers could help change the world for the better by making consumer choices that improve peoples' lives.

You can start with Native Harvest.

"All of the profits from Native Harvest go back into our work for our community, and through the circle of growing, harvesting, sharing, and selling, we are able to make a difference."

You can help them make a difference -- and also support BuzzFlash in the process.
