Etta James, still very much alive and vigorous, minced no words that she was upset that Beyonce was asked to sing Etta's signature song, "At Last" (in this CD) during Barack Obama's Inaugual festivities. It's Etta's song, after all.

Listen to Etta anywhere and you're immediately slow dancing with someone you feel so in love with it's painful. It is probably a bluesy, smoky bar, before we got healthy. And you can separate your dancing from that warm, liquid emotional tide that's flowing inside of you.

When Etta James sings, the band is there doing a great job, but the mood is all Etta. She's got the voice that goes right to your heart. Her specialty is being Dr. Love, and you feel it to the bone.

Before they started branding singers in a Disneyesque celebrity factory, there was Etta.

She can give you goosebumps alright, and make you feel young and romantic all over again.
