Recollections by Walter Cronkite
BUZZFLASH REVIEWS
Walter Cronkite means so much to us because he was a journalist who showed that the news could affect him and his perspective, and that he was capable of something most corporate Mainstream Media "journalists" today are incapable of: Cronkite was able to form judgments from the facts that he reported. More importantly, he was able to ascertain facts from government and corporate propaganda: an ability almost totally absent from the national corporate press corps.
This 3 DVD collector's boxed set (in an embossed tin) reminds us of what a reassuring presence Cronkite was, not because of his authority, but because of his credbility. He was the reassuring uncle and who could protect us because he wasn't a stenographer; he was a reporter who interpreted the information before him.
No, he was no flaming rebel; he was the quintissential Midwesterner (born in Missouri, the "show me" state) who applied common sense and wisdom to what he observed.
