About the beads:

The Obama logo beads are handmade with polymer clay, using a technique known as millefiori. Originally used in glassmaking, this technique consists of assembling rods (or whatever shape needed) of colored clay into patterns; the clay is then formed into a ‘cane’ and sliced into beads before being fired and glazed. The logos are not painted on; they are an intrinsic part of the bead, and each bead is unique.
