Nothing wrong with Jesus. It's just that some of his followers put his teachings in a cuisinart and made a paté of hate out of the gospel of love and forgiveness.

Lord knows, we need to be protected from the LaHayes, Hagees, Pat Robertsons, and Jerry Falwell Juniors of the distorted Bible business. And it is a business for them. They run vast financial enterprises, in which wealth and privilege are somehow distorted into being signs of favor with Jesus.

Last time we checked, Jesus wasn't driving around in a Cadillac and living in a mansion.

Why are so many fundamentalist followers of the Prince of Peace filled with hate, racism, and a desire for war?

Beats us, but Jesus, please protect us from your wayward "followers." There are those who truly follow your teachings, and they make the world a better place.

But those other ones who have lost their way and are in pursuit of hateful and selfish goals, please save us from their destructive ways.
