When reading a book about a corrupt politician, always start grazing through the middle of the book first. That's where the juicy stuff starts.

So it is with this detailed account of the mega-corruption of former GOP darling Congressman Randy Cunningham, now a federal prison inmate.

Did you know that Cunningham liked to bathe nude in his yacht (named the "Duke-Stir and bought with bribe money) while he was "entertaining" other guests. But, apparently few would join him.

That's because Cunningham would fill the hot tub with "water siphoned directly from the polluted Potomac River and never changed it during the season."

One of Cunningham's lobbyist "pushers" joked that if you got in the tub with "the Dukester" and one of his mistresses, "it would leave a dark water line on your chest."

Uh, gross me out, please.

And after the FBI raided Cunningham's infamous yacht, there were found "tubes of K-Y Jelly, everywhere." A Dukester staffer explained away the large stash of K-Y Jelly by claiming that Cunningham used if for a "nautical purpose" (we are not making this up). But the same staffer was unable to clarify for what "nautical" purpose Cunningham kept a large supply of K-Y Jelly in the bathroom of his Capitol Hill office.

Okay, so much for the salacious.

The Cunningham scandal is one of few Bush/GOP mega-corruption enterprises that we have been able to examine at close range, and what a story of betrayal of the American public and even our troops it is.

Gingrich, Hastert and the Bush Administration all aided and abetted the Dukester's sleazy and felonious behavior. It's almost impossible to believe that they didn't know what he was up to, since his dealings even reached into the CIA.

But Carol Lam, the intrepid former U.S. Attorney for San Diego -- which Cunningham "represented" in Congress -- pursued the sprawling Cunningham corruption case with diligence and vigor. For her work on behalf of justice and the American taxpayer, she was dismissed from her post as part of the Rovian ProsecutorGate plot.

"The Wrong Stuff" focuses on Cunningham and provides a stellar case study of Republican D.C. gutter greed and illegal behavior.

It offers a much-needed insight into the role K-Street lobbyists play in running our government...running it into the ground that is, as they defraud the American public.
