I would highly recommend this item for any JFK enthusiast. It is a very detailed account of Kennedy's Presidency. The three-part series includes interesting interviews with many of Kennedy's staff, family and others who were close to him. The series also includes countless video clips of Kennedy, including press conferences, speeches, home movies and more. In my opinion, one of the most interesting parts of this series is the recorded phone conversations and audio from cabinet meetings. Kennedy, sensing that he was in a historic position, had these items recorded.

To sum it all up, this is an excellent series that is jam-packed with information on Kennedy and his term in office. If you are looking for detail with respect to his assassination, this item is not what you are looking for.

You get a lot for your money here: "insider" footage showing the Kennedy family at home, coupled with very insightful, and even sometimes unsparing, comments about the 1000 days from people who saw it happen.

I enjoyed the "extra" documentary about his father, too. Understanding Joseph Kennedy helps explain what drove JFK to the places he attained in our history. His impatience and sanguinity about human nature, coupled with a nagging sense of "realpolitik" etched his reputation.

This is really riveting television, let alone history or documentary. If it leaves you wanting more, you have to ask whether you want more program or more JFK...
