Everybody has an opinion about the Kennedy Assassination, if they aren't among the brain dead.
"Legacy of Secrecy" is the sequel to the hotly debated, but many argue persuasive, Kennedy assassination conspiracy book of a couple years ago, carried in the BuzzFlash Progressive MarketPlace, "Ultimate Sacrifice" .
Both books are about nine hundred pages each and documented with footnotes to the hilt. If evidence were weighed by the pound, they'd leave you without much doubt as to their findings.
Both books are authored by Lamar Waldon and our good friend and noted progressive talk show host and writer, Thom Hartmann.
"Legacy of Secrecy" has received a star review from Publisher's Weekly:
"In the three years since their acclaimed expose Ultimate Sacrifice: John and Robert Kennedy, the Plan for a Coup in Cuba, and the Murder of JFK, historian Waldron and author/radio host Hartmann have accumulated new evidence with the help of “more than two dozen associates of John and Robert Kennedy” and access to “thousands of recently released documents at the National Archives,” strengthening and extend their case that the Kennedy assassination was a contract killing organized by top mob leaders working with the CIA and Cuban exile groups in response to Kennedy's crackdown on the mob and his secret 1963 plan to support a military-led coup in Cuba that promised to assassinate Castro. Waldron and Hartmann offer convincing evidence to substantiate that the killings of Martin Luther King Jr. and Bobby Kennedy five years later were also mob organized; in each case, the mafia was protected by their knowledge of Kennedy’s Cuba plan and the subsequent cover up. A riveting take on the assassination itself and the devastating results of government secrets, this account proves the continuing relevancy and importance of seeking the truth behind one of the U.S.’s most personal tragedies."
In the introduction to "Legacy of Secrecy" posted on BuzzFlash, courtesy of the authors, it states:
"The assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 triggered cover-ups by officials that continue to have a negative impact on American politics, life, and foreign policy. Legacy of Secrecy details those cover-ups and hidden investigations, many for the first time, including the reasons they were carried out under such intense secrecy. Most were spawned by John and Robert Kennedy's "top secret" 1963 plan to stage a coup against Fidel Castro--a plan so highly classified that it only started to be exposed in 2005 and is finally fully revealed in this book.
Their own confessions now show that three Mafia bosses—Carlos Marcello, Santo Trafficante, and Johnny Rosselli—were behind JFK's assassination. They used parts of the secret coup plan to kill JFK in a way that forced Attorney General Robert Kennedy, President Lyndon B. Johnson, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, and high CIA official Richard Helms to withhold crucial information not only from the public and the press, but also from each other and sometimes their own investigators. It's important to keep in mind that JFK was murdered just a year after the tense nuclear standoff during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The main goals of US officials were to prevent a nuclear confrontation with the Soviets and to protect JFK's ally high in the Cuban government: Commander Juan Almeida, head of the Cuban Army in 1963—still listed as Cuba's No. 3 official today."
As convincing as the Waldron/Hartmann thesis is, the very fog around the Kennedy Assassination will mean that individuals will decide what theory they believe in, because "history" will not serve as an arbitrator among competing perspectives.
After all, there still is not a definitive historical agreement on who or what sunk the U.S. military ship The Maine, which precipitated the Spanish American War.
But Waldron and Hartmann line up as taut a case as one can find in their two books. "Legacy" picks up where "Ultimate Sacrifice" leaves off. It tells us the long-term impact of the JFK assassination and alleged cover-up, including the remorse of RFK for a planned Cuban coup that went horribly awry.
One online reviewer praises "Legacy of Secrecy" this way:
I was very impressed by the well written volume by authors Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann. "Legacy Of Secrecy" does indeed act as an important follow up to the excellent "Ultimate Sacrifice", with a special emphasis on the post-11/22/63 days, weeks, months, and years. Clocking in at well over 800 pages, alot of time and industry went into this book. I thought their last book said it all, but I was wrong. I urge you to get this one as soon as possible-you won't be disappointed. I was especially pleased to see former Secret Service agent Abraham Bolden credited in the book (found through my efforts), as well as my own research (as the leading civilian Secret Service authority), but I digress. Buy this!
Another online reviewer writes:
Legacy of Secrecy, a follow up volume to their earlier work Ultimate Sacrifice, is a brilliant piece of research regarding the assassination of JFK. Based upon new evidence from the national archives it tells the story of how the Mafia-specifically Carlos Marcello the boss of New Orleans as well as Dallas along with Johnny Rosselli and Santo Trafficante the boss of Tampa and the rest of Florida- conspired to assassinate JFK and reveals for the first time that the FBI had taped their confessions. It details their connection to various plots organized by the CIA to assassinate Castro and install a new government in Cuba as well as their infiltration to an ongoing plot run out of the White House and directed by RFK; a plot that continued even after JFK had publicly announced all attempts to overthrow Castro were discontinued in the wake of the Bay of Pigs fiasco. It details the massive cover-up as well as the connection to the assassinations of RFK and MLK. This is an absolute must read for anyone who wants to know the real story behind these heinous acts. I want to thank the authors, Lamar Waldron with Thom Hartmann, for helping us know the truth of how, why and who killed JFK. It has haunted me ever since I saw the horrific images of the Zapruder film of the event itself and I hope people still care enough to know the answers.
