What Do the Words "Moderate Democrat" Bring to Mind? MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON by Shirley Smith I'm surfing TV channels ... that's mostly what gets done when I want to view something, and I end up with the weather station and the mute button ... I checked in on C-SPAN a minute ago, and saw a group of men behind a Democratic candidate and he gave his name, but out of what he said, all I heard was that he was running for Congress, I guess, but what caught my attention was that he claimed to be a "moderate democrat." Is this the same as a "centrist democrat?" He didn't say Progressive or Liberal, he said Moderate. To me moderate means nothing. I put moderate on my cereal everyday. I just kept on surfing. I feel that if someone can't say that they are a "Democrat" then they are hedging for the Republicans or those voters who believe in nothing, and reserve their vote for that day ... and they call themselves Independents. But, I see them as having no set ideas of what government should be. Their vote is won by who does the best sales job, regardless of the product and we already know that the Bush GOP is selling and some bought the product. A disaster for this country and other countries ... a high priced, deadly disaster. Democrats are denied all of the time by Americans who are liberal and don't know it. Read the Constitution. Read the Bill of Rights. There is nothing "moderate" about those documents. Yet, we have people in Congress today, who won't say they are liberal or progressive because the GOP constantly degrades them, a Bush GOP who spends all of their time trying to take away all of our rights and benefits as citizens of this country ... well, listen to members of this GOP. They talk about assassinations, filthy, filthy language, degrade people, lie, distort, and to me when I hear this ... a person or persons who can talk like this and support murder and mayhem, are greedy, being bought off, or black hearts, or closer to the truth, all of those descriptions and much, much more ... deep down criminals in their heart hiding behind our US flag and sometimes even spewing biblical texts. I've often wondered why they aren't afraid of a sudden bolt of lightning if they are so religiously inclined. And, instead of standing up against these bullies and murderers, Democrats turn the other cheek. Is this what it is to be "moderate? If it is, I don't want any. Am I wrong? We have too many "hedgehogs" in congress today as it is. Some of them have even been to Iraq. How can anyone even "read" about Iraq, much less visit there and support this Bush GOP treasonous administration and their goon squads, on anything in DC, even when it comes to staking our Supreme Court ... but, they do, and they want us to vote for them. Do they know anything about Iraq before Saddam and especially before Bush destroyed this beautiful country and beautiful people ... a land some call the "cradle" of civilization. These Bush GOP criminals allowed buildings to be destroyed. History, papers, records of all kinds were not given any respect, they went in there like barbarians and we are a nation of literature, history, education, preservation, why would anyone want these people to represent this nation, when they don't. they are medieval barbarians that do not respect anyone ... the same respect we read about today that this Bush GOP are training Iraqis to treat other Iraqis. They see no difference from Saddam, and why should they? At least, Saddam didn't destroy his country, did he? He didn't kill tens of thousands of Iraqis did he? What is a Centrist and what is a Moderate democrat? I want Democrats who are not accommodating, but damn well out and out "angry" and want to do something about all of the crimes that have been committed in the name of democracy and morality ... crimes against innocent people in the world, our neighbors ... and crimes against Americans ... lying them into a war that ended their lives with wounds or death, or such post-traumatic illness that they take their own life, because they can't live with what they saw in Iraq. What can be moderate or centrist about someone being against such horror that is being done daily in our name? Are they against it, or are they just saying they are against it? There is a difference. We can read how the Bush GOP Goon squad keeps repeating that Democrats can't secure this nation. What is so damn secure about this nation? Bin Laden was Bush's friend, not his enemy and he is still out there somewhere, wanting to attack and help Bush again. Because 911 helped Bush gain control over our government through GOP lies and distortion, and who did Bush attack for 911 ... Saddam, not bin Laden, his friend. Attacked a defenseless country and Bush had what, over 50 warnings before 911 and didn't warn Americans. Who are you going to trust? Bin Laden was allowed to escape from Afghanistan ... "allowed" to escape. The Saudis were "allowed" to leave the US by order of Bush, and they were not allowed to talk to the FBI, when Saudis were already suspected for 911. The Saudis are still Bush's best friends and all but two of those guilty of the 911 disaster were Saudis ... none were Iraqis or Syrians. Do we hear Democrats enraged or pointing out all of the crimes and lies and distortions put out daily by this Bush GOP Goon squad, instead just blame Democrats? No, they are too polite. Doesn't anyone ever notice that the Bush GOP and their Goons never want to take responsibility or even learn from their mistakes? No, they blame Democrats. They don't blame liberals, however, they say the word with disdain; they don't blame centrists or moderates; they blame Democrats. And then we have to see Clinton while he constantly jokes and cuts up with the Bushes as if they are all just good 'ole boy' buddies and it burns my ass every time I see this. Why? Maybe he believes in keeping his enemies close to him, but to the public's eyes, it does nothing for the credibility of the Democratic party and the treason committed by both of the Bushes who have yet to ever be made accountable for their crimes committed while in the service of this country ... Clinton is a brilliant person, unlike Bush. Usually, someone that smart, would be bored to death even in the company of two people like these Bushes. Democrats who keep saying they are moderate or centrist, but who do they ask for money ... funny, they don't send out letters addressing Democrats, moderates or centrists. They are either against this criminal and treasonous Bush GOP administration or they are accomplices ... when you know a crime has been committed and it's your job to do something about it and you don't ... you are an accomplice to a crime ... those who serve the American people should be held to a higher degree of accountability when they use their position to promote their own ideology or their own careers. Moderate, today? What's a moderate Republican today? Have they made a difference? Hell no. What could we expect from a moderate Democrat, when I don't even know what that is? The same as a moderate Republican today? Those who are no longer seen ... those who have faded into the squad of GOP supporters behind Bush? To be against this Bush GOP Group of Goons ... one should be proud, instead of shrinking away, as we have seen demonstrated by our Democratic leadership in Congress. There is nothing "moderate" about what this criminal and treasonous Bush GOP have done in five years. Democracy is a liberal set of freedoms. Read it and weep. There is nothing halfway about our freedoms, we are either free or we are not free from government that is against its own people. The Bush GOP are either treasonous or they represent what this nation has become. Moderate, Centrist or milquetoast, is there a difference?. Just askin'.
