| Filibuster MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON Buzz Flash, Today, Kerry sent out an email wanting signatures for support of a filibuster. Like you, I don't understand why the GOP, who are not all criminals, can always get their people to stand behind their party, which is a treasonous and criminal political party today, and, when any "honest GOP member" (cough) would sign up, they would have to know that they are giving up their own beliefs for a criminal faction of the Republican party, yet, the Democrats cannot get the support they need, because we have so many members in Congress who are afraid of "offending" Republican voters. How did we come this far and how did we get this far "off base" from the principles of the Democratic party, which are the same principles that are included in our Bill of Rights? This is what I added to that petition:
If this country is saved, the strength will have to come from those outside of DC. Today, I'm frustrated and furious. So far, all we ever get from Democrats are poses of posturing on positions, but when it comes to standing up against this criminal and treasonous Bush GOP administration ... they can't even be dragged to the forefront of the situation. If these people can't filibuster, knowing that a vote of "No" means nothing ... who do they think they are fooling? Why do so many Democrats in the DLC give Republicans and Independents credit for their jobs? Evidently, they do. Do we want a country ruled by people who call themselves "Independents," because they think they are being liberal, (voting for the "best person for the job") I guess, but what they really stand for is nothing concrete ... no standards for government whatsoever, and how many of these type of voters get their news from Fox or all of the other "liberal media." That is what is ruling the Democratic Party ... swing states, a minority of the majority of Americans. Changes need to be made, but we have to rid ourselves of all of these people, before we will be able to make changes. And, I understand those who are so angry and disappointed that they will vote a third party ... but, the Democratic Party has the roots of years of work ... so, we don't want to kill the whole tree ... we just need to give it a good trimming ... and let the new growth take over. My fear is that the trimming may be too late ... as an old tree can take just so much abuse, but the roots are the life and breath of the Democratic Party and this needed trimming has been put off long enough. Cut the dead leaves and branches ... add the much needed fresh nutrients and it will grow again, more healthy, vital and stronger than every before. Thanks BuzzFlash, Shirley Smith * * *
