What a Letdown ... The Iconic Lowering of the Lowdown

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
by Shirley Smith

NEW YORK Appearing on "Meet the Press" with Tim Russert this week, two broadcast veterans, Tom Brokaw of NBC and Ted Koppel, agreed that the press shouldn't be faulted too harshly for not questioning more deeply the claims of WMD in Iraq -- and declared that Bill Clinton would have gone into Iraq just like George Bush if he was still president after 9/11.

Along with Russert, they also argued that it was a "uniformly held belief" that Saddam Hussein had WMD when the Iraq war began.

Koppel and Brokaw Agree: Clinton Would Have Gone Into Iraq, Too (Editor & Publisher)

Very disappointing to hear such remarks from those whose words were so revered in the past ...  and, to hear this from careers of such respected journalism ... very disappointing.

Of course, Clinton has helped them to get away with their intended innuendoes, by being seen constantly with the Bushes and kissing their asses, after all they have tried to do to him and are still blaming him for their own stupidity. Probably because he (Clinton), along with the DLC, think that they must identify with Republicans in order to win elections ... even Clinton, I thought, was too smart to go along with those outdated and useless tactics.

We will probably hear more of this type of vague attack on Clinton's character next year. Why? Because they got away with it years ago, during the Clinton administration. I mean, Bush, the cowardly "C" student (sorry to insult C students) still blames Clinton for his (Bush) mistakes. No, Clinton had more brains and he knew the law and would not have crossed that line.

I think he bombed Iraq just to please the Bush GOP ... and the "supposed" assassination attempt by Saddam on Bush the elder ... if Clinton made any mistakes, it was to be too bipartisan with the Bush GOP members in Congress and Poppy Bush.

I used to have a lot of respect for Koppel and maybe even Brokaw, but both of them also have crossed the line from true journalism to true Bushism ... by making such idiotic statements, they have sold out America ... and for what, I wonder. There is absolutely no comparison to what Bush did to what Clinton would have done. None. The only people these journalists could please by such remarks would be the treasonous Bush GOP and their followers.

I also find it very, very insulting to many of us Americans and that includes Clinton,  who understood years ago, before Bush's treasonous invasion of Iraq, that ...

1) Bush had to know what Saddam had in weaponry because the US (those in the Bush administration) gave it to him,

2) Bush also knew about the ten years of bombings and the harmful sanctions,

3) Bush also knew about the many reports of inspections and why would he refuse to believe them for no reason,

4) and, in my own opinion of Bush ... he would not have attacked if he thought without a doubt that Saddam could have attacked back, because Bush wanted another Gulf war where only the Iraqis get killed,

5) for those who actually paid attention, Saddam had his own son-in-laws killed for telling the world that he was rid of his WMD ... this was believable for anyone in the Bush administration who knew Saddam or his ego, because he didn't want anyone to know that he was literally unarmed, ( I mean, governments, even the US , have experts (Arabs) in these fields of knowledge re behavior),

6) and, of course the most insane reason was the 45 minutes to attack the US and the connection ...  that Cheney still throws out there just in case there are any Americans left who might believe him when he says there is a connection between Saddam and bin Laden.

All lies to start a war and the media was complicit  in selling this illegal and treasonous war. No, Clinton didn't do it and Clinton wouldn't have done it. Give it up on blaming Clinton. President Clinton would never in a million years do what Bush has done, that is why the Republicans had to impeach him for a personal indiscretion, which was a clue to the leadership of the Bush GOP in the future ... we've not been disappointed ... but, betrayed as a nation.

The Democratic party does not have any room today for bipartisanship ... just a thought for all of you DLC members ... you needed to know this ... caress the Republicans at the peril of your own career. Changes, we need in this government ... big, abrasive changes ... no more room for warring Bush GOP or any of their followers. Debt, death, and destruction are out ... well informed, well adjusted, well behaved, well meaning, and the wellness for all Americans are in ... this leaves the Bush GOP and anyone who follows them or votes with them, completely out.

Just a thought,
