A Perfect Example of Bush's America

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

Re AMERICAblog: "60 Minutes'" Mike Wallace's son is an idiot. Sad.

Mike Wallace would be a hard act for any son to follow, but when reading his interview and asked about Fox News, the first thing Mike Wallace said was to acknowledge that his son worked for Fox News and he pretty much let it go at that. Anyone could tell by that interview, that Mike Wallace was as sharp as he ever was.

I have always wondered about his son, knowing that he worked for Fox News (I haven't watched Fox News after the first three months that I received them on Direct TV, and that was before O'Reilly's full mental breakdown). I think I wanted Mike Wallace's son to be a carbon copy of himself.

Then after hearing such disrespect for a parent that has done so much and is a hero of his time as a journalist ... I felt sorry for Mike Wallace. He must feel like many parents do when they have a child head off in the opposite direction ... what did I do wrong? Nothing. Parents can only take responsibility for doing the best that they can do ... and hope for the best. We live in a society today that was gung-ho to invade and kill tens of thousands of innocent people ... this has to have a bearing on how people respect people, whether they are Americans or not. We have seen this Bush government punish our elderly, the ill, our youth, the working class with their abusive legislation and thirst for blood.

Those who represent this Bush GOP administration do not respect American values ... they don't even know what they are anymore ... and, that couldn't have been more present than in the words of Mike Wallace's son.

"He's 87-years old and things have set in," the Fox anchor continued. "I mean, we're going to have a competence hearing pretty soon."

In the "old days," when families had kids like this Wallace, Jr., and they turned against their parents or even their children ... they would sign them into a psych hospital (state hospitals), whether they needed it or not, or if it was a child they couldn't stand or control, they would see that the child had a lobotomy. Is this where we are today in this Bush GOP's moral, Christian world? Yes, we are. I'm surprised they haven't brought back those old days.

But, in the Bush world of modern times, they just change the laws and shoot these people instead, or cut their housing and food benefits, starve them to death. It's not as time-consuming or as costly, and, of course, there also is the "living will," where some decide whether or not a person's life is worth living ... and I don't mean those who are on life support and brain dead ... I mean just people who may have to use wheel chairs ... with these in-our-face mean times towards our fellow man ... it almost feels like we are being haunted by world history's past ... in another life ... reliving it.
