Bush GOP, Legislators of the Lean and Mean

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
by Shirley Smith

Anyone who believes that Bush intends to withdraw US troops from Iraq for good, such as in "ending this illegal and treasonous war," is probably snorting snorkenpuffle, whatever that is.

Once Upon a Time...: "Some Guy Named Kaplan" -- and Let's Snorkenpuffle from Iraq!

Bush will lower the troops and probably do it so slowly ... so that more US troops will die faster in numbers. Why? Because the lack of troops to begin with has been why most military professionals believe Iraq was turned into a chaotic land for criminal activity of all kinds, the looting of munitions, explosives etc. This lowering of US troops will not stop the terrorists or the Iraqis who are fighting the US. They will take advantage of the lower numbers of US troops ... then, Bush and his cabal can say that the rise in deaths are due to not enough troops. All of this will be for the benefit of the election.

Of course, Bush will say the US will withdraw from Iraq and he will keep saying it and playing with the number of troops until the 2006 election is over, and will probably try to raise the number of recruits with these lies. It wouldn't be the first time recruits were lied to. If the Republicans win that election, we can probably expect some demonstration of why we need to not only stay in Iraq, but have a national draft.

If that is going to be the program, and it probably will be, the Democrats need to call it what it is ... Election 2006 GOP propaganda. It shouldn't be anything new to call the Bush GOP liars. The hunt for any truth out of this Executive Branch of US government ... well, it would be easier to find bin Laden.

We need to get the hell out of Iraq at the same pace or close to it, that the US used in Vietnam, not as in Nixon, but when they actually left (as in, very speedy). If Bush makes a large withdrawal of US troops, just to try and convince people that he means to end this war ... which he won't because he has intended to do this for too many years, the small number of troops will be more vulnerable to attacks. The deaths don't mean anything to Bush, but he will possibly even pretend that they do.

Whether Bush delivers a speech on withdrawing troops in order to stop the war or if he restates his "stay the course," speech ... the tactics will be the same ... nothing will end and more people will die, including more Americans. Bases and troops all need to go. Anything left that will remind the Iraqis of the US will probably be destroyed.

The irony of this conservative Bush GOP is that in the lust for Iraqi oil, the US has become the proverbial "fly in the tar pit." The complete legacy that Americans will inherit from this Bush GOP is incomplete due to much secrecy ... we do know that Americans have the highest debt ever in our history, along with reams of lean and mean legislation aimed at killing our Bill of Rights and finishing off US government responsibilities.

Hidden in the legacy may be such things as the return of Devil's Island where only the names have changed. The Berlin Wall came tumbling down, but the Bush GOP have built many walls keeping people out of the US on false claims of fighting terrorism and then there is their war on the United Nations that is for negotiations between nations to promote peace, security and goodwill.

Bush can give a speech every day ... but, the legacy remains unchanged. The Bush GOP can lie this country into a war, but they can't lie the US out of it, and they can't lie themselves out of the physical facts that keep appearing every day. They can't hide behind their lies forever. And, because the proverbial "buck" should stop with Bush, any pardon for any crime committed by anyone in his Executive Branch should be null and void and added to the list of offenses committed by this treasonous Bush GOP administration.   These are not forgivable or pardonable offenses. Justice can be and in this case, should be ... just as lean and mean.
