The Blame Game -- No Winners, and the Losers are Dead Silent

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
by Shirley Smith

There should be a law that requires a list of certain physical and personality traits concerning who should not be able to sit in the big chair in the oval office . . . cowards, liars, skunks and weasels should be number one through four on that list, for starters.

Bush, in his speech Friday, said that "it is deeply irresponsible to rewrite the history of how that war began." But in trying to set the record straight, he asserted: "When I made the decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power, Congress approved it with strong bipartisan support."

Asterisks Dot White House's Iraq Argument (Milbank/Pincus/Washington Post)

I don't care how many people voted to give Bush the authority . . . it's very irritating that Bush thinks all Americans are so stupid as to wonder why the Congress was given a "resolution," instead of a Declaration of War. Bush had already decided to invade Iraq, no matter what anyone did, but, this resolution was so that he could come back and say what he is saying today.

Whatever Bush's excuses are . . . he gave the orders to invade a bombed out, defenseless Iraq. He knew innocent people would be killed in their "shock and awe" attack. Americans and Iraqis. None of this mattered to this treasonous Bush GOP administration.

This is something that Bush should not be allowed to brush away without being made accountable. Then, he can talk and give all of the excuses he wants to give . . . but, from the distance of a cement cell. All this Bush GOP have done is to try to rewrite the past for the last 30 years. Why people bother to listen to anything Bush has to say today, despite his constant fabrications, should be considered a wonderment.

As always, Bush is offensive while being on the defensive . . . but, who cares . . . for the first time in his irresponsible life, he has passed the limit of no return. He and his GOP administration are on an island, all alone, and it is sinking. This isn't the AWOL (which if he would have been punished, we may not be in this situation today), the taking of money, the ruining of reputations and other cheap dirty tricks . . . it's the lies, the ones that have caused death and destruction . . . it's what happens when a person becomes a "war president."

Bush got what he wanted, and now it's our turn to get what we, in a real democracy, want . . . Justice.
