Splitting Hairs With Herr Rove

by Tony Peyser

Rove's lawyer is now deflecting
Towards his client any blame:
He, uh, did talk to Matt Cooper
But not about Valerie Plame.

So, what were they discussing?
Don't you wonder what that might be?
This was all going down around
July 10th of 2003.

Maybe behind White House curtains
That no would could ever see in
Rove raved about the new movie
"Pirates Of The Caribbean."

Or perhaps Rove told Cooper
Until he was blue in the face
About how Daytona just
Had a thrilling NASCAR race.

Or that The Grand Ol' Opry
Recently brought back Roy Clark
Or how Juan Gonzales of Texas
Hit his 24th out of the park.

Maybe just by gossiping
Rove that day earned his salary
Without saying a word or four
About any Plame named Valerie.

Let's recap this key evidence
That a grand jury is now seeking:
Rove talked to one of the leakers
But didn't do any leaking.

And after talking to this leaker
Two enemies of his were primed
By some grand coincidence
To both be totally slimed.

If you believe Rove's position
Then this is what my quiz is:
Doesn't he sound like Clinton
Redefining just what “is” is?
