Journalism At Its Best

by Tony Peyser

On the eve of a large event
That world leaders will be attending
Some reporter always says
As his voice begins descending:

"At tomorrow’s gathering
It will be an amazing sight
And security, we’ve been told,
Will be incredibly tight."

Doesn’t this go without saying?
No newsman has ever declared,
"Dignitaries are coming soon
And the cops aren’t at all prepared.

In this reporter’s opinion
I can say with some impunity
If you’re some kind of anarchist
This is your big opportunity!

Your chances of being caught
Are none or at least very few
We’re expecting something awful
And now, Ken, back to you."
