With his political life
He summons help from
His more popular wife.

The White House’s latest
P.R. rescue plan
Is dispatching Laura
To Afghanistan.

She spoke en route of Schiavo
And how on the face of it
The government should make
A federal case of it.

(Dubya’s Schiavo comments
Have lately been very few
He’s gone from “Save Terri!”
To “Terri? Terri Who?”)

It’s well-known that rats
Often leave sinking ships
I think of them when Laura
Goes on one of her trips.
