Verse-Case Scenario by Tony Peyser

In 1988, Lawmaker DeLay Faced Pulling Plug On His Father

by Tony Peyser

His dad’s handmade backyard tram
Suddenly jumped the tracks
A truly awful accident
The L.A. Times had the facts.

DeLay wanted Terri Schiavo
To live long or at least to try
But very quickly decided
To let his brain-dead Dad die.

Most patients rarely recover
From a vegetative state
His Dad was just in a coma;
So, why didn’t Tom DeLay wait?

He sure didn’t wait to sue
And make a few hundred grand
(John Edwards won cases like this
And got a GOP reprimand.)

DeLay at some point later on
Had a brand new point of view
To not allow anyone else
To file cases like this and sue.

He plays the family values card
To shore up his reputation
But has next to no contact
With any blood relation.

It might just be impossible
For anyone to select a
Person better qualified for
This hypocrisy trifecta.
