A Tale of Two Continents

by Tony Peyser

In South Asia,
150,000 dead
100,000 in Iraq
Some sources have said.

In South Asia, not enough
Shelter and food to eat
In Iraq, those same problems
Can be seen on every street.

In South Asia, it’ll take
Many years to make things right
In Iraq, a new tomorrow
Is nowhere yet in sight.

What’s the difference in the two
Examples I’ve presented?
Tsunamis can be predicted
But wars can be prevented.
