After the Rapture*

Fundamentalists went to heaven
To get their wings and strut
Until they all discovered
They didn’t make the cut.

Neither did Rove or Rummy
And when shove came to push
Cheney and Condi also got nixed
Along with President Bush.

St. Peter insisted God did not
Support their Middle East war
And the misguided holy crusade
They claimed to be fighting for.

As they headed way, way South
With their shoulders sad and drooped
Those Christians were not happy
To learn they’d all been duped.

They started to sweat profusely
A sign said, "Hell – 1 Mile"
Karl Rove pulled out his cel
But there was no one left to dial.

Politicians had twisted religion
To something He never offered
No wonder those Christians began
To pummel the man from Crawford.
