When in May of 2000, BuzzFlash became the first major progressive political news and commentary Internet site, reaching up to 4 million visitor sessions a month after the theft of the 2000 election, it became necessary to declare our independence from any corporate, organizational, political, or governmental monetary influences by not accepting advertising on any of the BuzzFlash Internet sites. We hold these truths to be self-evident that the corporate media frames news and commentary through the prism of profit, not the lens of democracy. For 8 years, BuzzFlash has been carrying the flame of the right of the American people to decide its government by one person-one vote, and to receive its information unfiltered by the bias of those who benefit from enriching the already wealthy. BuzzFlash, since its inception, has abided by the heart of the American Revolutionary Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. - That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, - That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." BuzzFlash, promoting the right of all regardless of economic means to access progressive news and commentary, has never charged a subscription. We have been free to all. Because the in a democracy, all individuals are equal regardless of class or ability to pay. "And for the support of this Declaration," we have never wavered from adherence to our honor and our commitment to be an independent voice for upholding the Constitution and advocating liberty, justice, and economic fairness.
