Subj: Voter Fraud/Intimidation Hotline The Democratic National Committee has established a toll free line for voters who are experiencing voter intimidation or other problems to call on election day: 1-866 VOTE 411 http://www.mediawhoresonline.com/ Dear BuzzFlash, Don't buy into the last minute ploys to boost stock prices just before tomorrow's election. As the economic news worsens, the Dow, NASDAQ and S & P keep rising. Here are the machinations over the last few days: Word is spread of a likely interest cut by the Fed The Justice Department settles the antitrust case in the favor of Microsoft IBM announces the development of the fastest chip transistor ever to boost internet speed Dell introduces a new server that will boost their market share Gateway indicates that it will sell flat-panel televisions for half the price of their competitors The last three were rolled out on the eve of the last business day before the vote, and all of the above will guarantee that the stock market gets a big boost just before undecided investors enter the booths. These slick moves by the GOP and its supporters to ensure that there are no last minute surprises in the financial markets are just additional examples of how this Administration manipulates to achieve their nefarious ends. Larry Morningstar Subj: And here you thought they were protecting us Dear BuzzFlash, From an article in the LA Times Oct. 27, 2002:
--- end quote Read that again- "Secret operations aimed at STIMULATING REACTIONS among terrorists and states possessing WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION?" Now, I may not be a rocket scientist, but this sure as hell sounds to me like the plan is to provoke terrorist attacks so we can go and kick some Arab ass, preferably one with an oil field. Think about what this means- They're trying to PROVOKE AN ATTACK with WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION? I wonder- just how many more Americans are going to be killed by terrorists so Bush can justify his oil wars? Aren't 3000 dead civilians on our shores already too many? These lunatics are trying to PROVOKE another September 11! Tomorrow is election day. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE! Use this opportunity to send a message that Bush's war making has gotten out of control and vote Republicans out of office. Who knows- our kids' lives may depend on it, and probably will. WAKE UP, AMERICA AND WORLD. LIES, LIES, LIES ARE THE NORM WITH THIS WHITE HOUSE AND CORPORATE MEDIA. WHAT IS THE RIGHT WING UP TO, SENDING THE OSCE TO "MONITOR" ELECTIONS?!?! Perhaps, give "legitimacy" to premeditated plans to commit election fraud and get away with it (again)? Anything connected to this administration, the current federal election authorities, and corporate media (who will be consulted by OSCE) is tainted ! Remember corporate media's "vote count" after elections 2000, which, as it turned out, was merely an attempt to give "legitimacy" to Bush by masking the truth that Gore won via an array of science-based linguistic spins, confusion, deception? LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON. BUSH, SR ON TRUTH: "Truth will get you brokeor dead." JEB BUSH ON TRUTH: "The truth is useless. You have to understand this right now. You can't deposit the truth in the bank. You can't buy groceries with the truth. You can't pay the rent with the truth. The truth is a useless commodity that will hang around your neck like an albatrossall the way down to the homeless shelter. And if you think that the million or so people in this country that are really interested in the truth about their government can support people who would tell them the truth, you got another think coming. Because the million people in this country that are truly interested in the truth don't have any money." (Bushwhacked, P. 162) THIS IS THE "DEMOCRACY" THEY WANT TO FORCE UPON THE WORLD? FLORIDIANS, KEEP CLOSE WATCH! Best wishes, Tina

Subj: Good Site Dear BuzzFlash, I check your site out 2-3 times a week, and find that it is full of interesting stories and links. One thing, though. You seem to feel that our national salvation rests with the Democratic Party. I suggest that before we grant them that position, we need a little revolution in the Party. How the hell do they think they can capture the White House in 2004 if so many of them have spent the past year sucking up to Bush?? I live in Pennsylvania, and one of our Democratic Congressmen is making an issue out of his support for Bush's war on Iraq, his tax cuts, and, in general, most of the Bush agenda. This is the Opposition??? Sounds like little Republican wannabe's! If the Dems don't find a voice, and stand up to the Little King, why should we support them? Let's light a fire under their collective asses, and demand they actually represent their voters agenda! A BuzzFlash Reader Subj: Refuse to be a Bobble-Head Tuesday Dear Mailbaggers, Yesterday, I heard a CNN analyst say that no administration can control the economy. CNN anchor personalities kept nodding in approval. That comment and nodding coaxed me to my feet and into a full rant (the dog ran and hid behind the sofa.) No administration can control the economy?!!! Mr. CNN Analyst, administrations EFFECT the economy!!!!! This administration began to effect the economy as one of its first priorities. Bush began yelling that we were in recession. That was to get the congress to quickly pass a mother-load tax cut for the richest 1% of the country. Just remember that. Why do I share a smidge of my rant with mailbaggers? We don't need to be students of politics. We simply ask ourselves one question before voting: Are we better off today, than we were two years ago? I need not go into a monumental listing of all the negative things that have happened in two years under the intentional EFFECT of this administration. We all know the negative cause and effect republican Bush-Bobble-Heads have had on the economy and well-being of this country. It all happened under a republican administration, majority House & Senate... throw in the US Supreme Court too. Jeffords put a temporary halt to the madness. Could the madness return? So I say to you, vote the republican Bush-Bobble-Heads out of the House and Senate! If we fail to do this, Bush becomes a totally unleashed Dictator. Republican Bobble-Heads will not curb a dictatorship and protect us from it. They are part of it. ~ Cathy Subj: "Election Roundup" segment on 11/4 Morning Edition broadcast Dear NPR "Morning Edition", I listened to your broadcast this morning -- the Election Roundup segment with Moira Liason and Cokie Roberts -- and was very disappointed to hear some pretty biased and partisan commentary at the end of the piece. Ms. Roberts made a comment, while offering no proof for her assertion, that Democrats are preparing to send 10,000 lawyers into voting precincts tomorrow to challenge irregularities, although she left the definite impression that these pesky Democratic lawyers would be causing mischief rather than acting as benign observers. Then, the host, Mr. Edwards, commented, "Scary." And ended the segment -- leaving listeners with the impression that the scary Democrats are going to pull some kind of fraud in the elections tomorrow. First of all, Ms. Roberts should back up such inflammatory statements -- no matter who she's talking about -- with proof. And she should try to do some journalism, too. There are certainly going to be lots of Democrats (and Republicans) working as poll watchers tomorrow across this country (which is legal and happens every election day). But where is the evidence that these Democratic lawyers are going to be causing trouble? Or are they going to be there to defend people's right to vote without intimidation -- which, presumably, we can all support, regardless of our party affiliation? Secondly, if Ms. Roberts had done some research before she went on the air, she could have shared another aspect of the unfolding election story with her listeners. There have been numerous newspaper articles published over the past few days and weeks in papers throughout the country chronicling what may be a concerted Republican effort to intimidate Democratic voters, especially racial minorities. http://www.pbcommercial.com/archives/index.inn?loc= http://www.freep.com/news/politics/ballot30_20021030.htm http://www.indiancountry.com/?1036161943 http://www.miami.com/mld/miami/4391227.htm And yet this story, which could have been easily documented, went unmentioned in Ms. Roberts' commentary and the host of the show, Mr. Roberts, didn't raise it either. There have also been numerous stories about voting problems -- intimidation, allegations of fraud, machines not working, problems with registration, people's names not being on the rolls -- during early voting so far this year. http://www.dfw.com/mld/startelegram/news/local/states/texas/4394031.ht http://www.ctnow.com/news/local/statewire/ http://newtimesbpb.com/issues/2002-10-31/news2.html/1/index.html In light of these problems, which Ms. Roberts also did not mention and which Mr. Edwards did not mention, is at all that surprising that Democrats are beefing up their poll-watching staff, even going so far as to send trained legal observers? Especially since, according to the October 23 edition of the National Journal's HOTLINE, the Republican National Lawyers Association, which is affiliated with the RNC, will be aggressively promoting "ballot security and integrity" tomorrow. According to their web site - www.rnla.org -- the RNLA met in San Antonio last August "to teach Republicans from all over the U.S. about preserving and protecting the integrity of elections." Sounds good, but in light of reports of voter intimidation in Arkansas and other locations, one wonders what is meant by "ballot security and integrity." Nevertheless, presumably if it's okay for the Republicans to send partisan lawyers to the polls, why can't the Democrats do the same? And what is so inherently "scary" about the Democrats versus their Republican counterparts? Inquiring minds want to know... Gee, the media sure is incredibly liberal, isn't it? As if. It's fair and balanced when both (or multiple) sides of a story are offered to viewers. It is not fair and balanced -- or good journalism worth of consistent listening or financial support -- when only one side is presented and accusations against one political party or candidate are offered up as objective analysis. I really would like to expect more of NPR and of Cokie Roberts, but sadly I've been disappointed too many times by both. Another recent example: NPR's massive underreporting of the attendance at the recent anti-war march in Washington, DC. If I want biased right-wing reporting, my choices are seemingly endless (FOX, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, most of the major newspapers, most major radio stations). It's pretty disappointing to add NPR to that list. You could -- and should -- do a lot better. Here's hoping you will. Sincerely, Amanda
Smith, Boston, MA Dear BuzzFlash, From one SOE web site in Florida. IF YOU Are told you can not vote you can ask for a Provisional Ballot. Yours, Bill Dear BuzzFlash, Just wondering if the Republican party is going to monitor heavily Republican districts as strongly as they seem to be monitoring strongly Democratic leaning districts? I would seriously like to know the answer to this. A BuzzFlash Reader Buzz: September 16th - 8 weeks and counting....Bush told us that the US was in GRAVE danger concerning this great threat from Iraq. This danger was not relevant during his one month vacation. We were told after that horrible month of introducing a new product ended (august) that Iraq was developing weapons of mass destruction, working with Al-Queda, and gassing their own people. Yet, when Iraq agreed to allow inspectors in to monitor and destroy these very harmful agents BUSH AND POWELL TOLD THE INSPECTORS NOT TO GO! Do you hear what I am saying..With this grave danger upon us BUSH TOLD the INSPECTORS not to go! So we have a man that is willing to play with US emotions, lie, and allow Iraq to develop deadly weapons as opposed to getting the inspectors in and destroying the weapons so that he can carry out a mid-term election agenda. That my friends is remarkable! But, of course you'd never hear it put this way from the press. PJOnes Subj: 94,000 disenfranchised in Florida, not a peep on National TV Dear BuzzFlash, 94,000 voters disenfranchised in Florida (91,000 shown not to be "felons"). Bush may lose the vote, but not the vote count. They agreed to put the 91,000 back "after" the election. No coverage on national television. Welcome to the new America. L.
Houde Subj: Challenges in TX Dear Buzz- I wrote earlier this afternoon about the 110,000 challenged votes from the SAN ANTONIO area. Correction- the votes had been challenged but not as was earlier reported based on signature verification. That was incorrect. These were electronic votes and were being challenged regarding something about the way a straight Democratic ballot was cast- not quite sure of the details as yet. However, I have just received word from reliable sources that a judge has ruled them as good votes. Another thing that is happening here- word comes from the TX AFL-CIO that across the state people are receiving automated phone calls which are said to be from the Gay and Lesbians of TX for Ron Kirk saying that as Senator, Kirk has promised to help legalize gay and lesbian marriage across the country. It would appear from the amount of calls that union members are getting that they may have been targeted. However, Ron Kirk is trying to get air time on major market stations to play the tape and disavow the existence of the group. Getting down and dirtier all the time here in TX! Thanks, Peggy in TX Dear family, friends, friends-of-friends, and other good people, Please, please vote on Tuesday. The good reasons for doing so could fill a book, but the most critical issue is voting for your representatives to the U.S. Congressional House and Senate. Our system of government calls for a balance of powers to assure that power is used fairly. You can help by voting for qualified Democratic candidates. This is the most essential action you can take to guard our fundamental rights and freedoms. No excuses. We're counting on you. Thanks! Respectfully, Monica Rix Paxson author: Dead Mars, Dying Earth P.S. If you have any problems voting-or know anyone that does -please report the problem immediately to http://www.VoteWatch.US/ Subj: A Message of Hope from Your Canuck Cousins Dear Buzz, I'd like to offer this story from our own recent Canadian political history on the eve of your historic & vitally important midterm elections. A while back we had a Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney. He represented our Progressive Conservative (where have you heard that before?) party, & as you would expect, as a conservative, his administration was riddled with corruption, patronage, cronyism, etc. Mulroney's main legacy would be the much-reviled, crippling Goods & Services Tax (GST) that still exists to this day (albeit under a different name, the Blended Sales Tax, or BST. Liberals, conservatives, it doesn't matter -- they all love a juicy tax-grab). Somehow Mulroney managed to fool the Canadian public a second time to get re-elected, running mainly on the strength of his GST plan & Free Trade platforms. No-one really understood what these programmes meant, but they sounded good. About half-way through Mulroney's second term, Canadians started to clue in that perhaps we were getting the shaft. On top of that, allegations of cronyism, patronage & various other scandals were coming to light. Mulroney, picking up on public sentiment, decided to step aside "for the good of his party". Enter Kim Campbell, our first female Prime Minister. Since this was an election to replace the party leader (& a sitting PM), only conservatives in the $200,000 & above income range got to vote for our national leader. Kim was in. With 6 months left 'til national elections (when the rest of us would get to vote), conventional wisdom was that if Campbell could keep her mouth shut & stick to spinning the issues, she be a lock for PM through popular election. But Kim didn't stick to the play-book. At every given opportunity she, inexplicably, espoused elitist views that baffled & enraged liberals & conservatives alike. My favourite quote has to be "the average Canadian should sit around in their t-shirts, drinking beer & watching hockey rather than be concerned with who's running the country". Pure gold. Despite Kim's rampant elitism & Mulroney's corruption (although his popularity was still high in the polls), the PCs were still odds-on favourites for re-election. I had all but given up. The PCs looked unbeatable. I'd vowed to move away from Canuckistan rather than live under the rule of an elitist snot. I went to bed the night of the election with a heavy heart, expecting the worst the next morning -- after all, people are idiots, right? Wrong. The conservatives were beaten. Not just beaten, but crushed. Not just crushed, but decimated. The PCs, after having a majority government were reduced to TWO SEATS. Ponder that for a second... from a majority to two lousy seats -- & right up to the election, they were riding high in the polls. When the next Canadian political press packets for US reporters was sent out the Progressive Conservatives wasn't even listed as an official political party. I'm hoping this Tuesday the American people will surprise everyone in a similar fashion. Believe me, the rest of the world (quite literally) is watching with fingers crossed. Please make the right choice, Tim Hopton Subj: Time for a Breath of Refreshing Reality Dear BuzzFlash, Gee, isn't it interesting that it now appears that Jesse Ventura was using his feigned "outrage" over Paul Wellstone's memorial service as a quite convenient cover to place one of his personal political cronies in Paul's seat. Well, well, well, now we see exactly what "The Body" was up to with his apparently premeditated and well-planned volcanic meltdown in front of the the TV cameras on Tuesday. The ol' studio wrestler has shown that he is still capable of putting on a show. It is obvious now that his little tirade after Paul's memorial service was nothing but a cheesy PR schlock show, much akin to the rabid, rabble rousing of the audience that he used to do before the main cage match with Hulk Hogan or "Superfly" Snuka. Jesse, in a display of his usual self-aggrandizing ego inflation decided to make his little announcement of the appointment of his good buddy Dean Barkely right in the middle of this morning's debate between Walter "the VEEP" Mondale and Norm "Bush Toy" Coleman. Jesse, displaying the suave, debonair style which has rendered him a monumental irrelevance as a meaningful participant in the American political process deliberately timed the announcement to "steal the show." He knew that most Minnesotans now could care less about what he had to say, and this juvenility was the only way that he could get them to pay attention. Unfortunately, as usual, "the Body" did Minnesotans a great disservice since his theatrics unduly interfered with those who had tuned in to the debate and were enjoying the opportunity to hear Walter Mondale, a real public servant, with a towering public service resume of epic proportions, that the Body can only dream about, explain why he was the person best able to carry on Paul Wellstone's legacy of caring and selfless service. Mr. Ventura, who only a few days ago was excoriating as rude the multitude of people enthusiastically celebrating the many accomplishments of Paul Wellstone's life, demonstrated with this latest act of circus theater that it is he who is the real embarrassment. He is definitely Bush League. Once his term is ended, maybe he'll get lucky and have his ol' pal Vince McMahon toss him a bone. He can do the preliminary undercard on WWF Raw, but I'm afraid he'll have to improve his future public PR act, since his present shtick is as phonily transparent as Norm Coleman's claim that he can be independent from his puppeteer, George "the Junior Pretender." No, sadly with all his bluster and phony bravado, "The Body" couldn't hold a candle to the one true wrestling champion who served in Minnesota public life. Unfortunately that champion, who was also a champion in every facet of his personal and private life, was taken from us much too soon. However, Walter Mondale, who has that fallen champion's fire, courage and compassion is ready to enter the ring and carry on the fight for all Minnesotans. Walter Mondale, despite his distinguished record of accomplishment and years of service and achievement has one additional quality that greatly distinguishes him from Mr. Coleman and Mr. Ventura: Walter Mondale is genuine. What you see is what you get. He doesn't need phony hype or contrived PR circuses to spin a message that he thinks people want to hear. He speaks thoughtfully and directly from the heart. Mr. Mondale is a liberal and, as he showed in today's debate he is damn proud of it, since to him, as to Paul, being a liberal means caring about the pressing needs of real people, and it means that he, like Paul will go to work every day fighting for them and trying to make their lives better. Hopefully for the sake of America, Minnesotans will give him that chance. Dan Subj: Why won't FL reporters cover the REAL election story? Dear Sun Sentinel Journalists, Your article, "Bush, McBride make last-minute pitches to strongest supporters" is a nice little standard account of the election campaign for governor. Unfortunately, you don't touch upon the reasons international monitors have been drawn to Florida. In fact, the ONLY serious journalist in the world who has investigated the Florida election process for 2 years is Greg Palast of GregPalast.com, whose work has only been picked up by BuzzFlash.com and Salon.com and barely anyone else. If he were to be talking with the international monitors today, then there could finally be REAL breaking news and a chance for the enormous "passive" voter fraud taking place in Florida to be stopped. But the vast majority of reporters continue to ignore how tens of thousands of Florida voters never get the legal right to vote. It's a major travesty of justice, an international story that is the shame of America. Why won't you cover it????? Eva Adams Subj: Letter From New Zealand - 5 November!! Dear BuzzFlash, The 5th November has arrived. Here in New Zealand (and across Britain of course) people the length of the country are preparing to celebrate "Guy Fawkes Night" with the firing of fireworks, bonfires, and the burning of effigies of Guy Fawkes. Guy Fawkes was an Englishman who on November 5 1605 tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament with barrels of gunpowder. He was caught, taken to the tower of London and apparently beheaded at dawn. The charge was treason, although a common sentiment often expressed is that Mr Fawkes was "the only man ever to enter Parliament with honest intentions." On that note I would like to wish you all the best with the elections. I hope you get the results you want. Save your country, save us all! - VOTE DEMOCRAT! D.M.Reid(NZ) PS Just saw a hideous sight on the TV before - a rabid women (yes foam was detected in the corners of the mouth) screaming and flapping while wearing a 'JEB' T/Shirt yugghhh! Subj: Let's create a crow feast BuzzFlash, A word to wise voters... Republicans will be out in force Nov. 5. If you haven't voted, you may get a call from the republicans urging you to go to the polls and vote for their cronies. This is part of their strategy to win the elections. They will be especially phoning undecided voters. Additionally, please do not fall for early returns showing your candidate out in front. I fear that some voters may stay home, thinking their candidate has it in the bag. Please do not leave it up to the rest of us to support your candidate with our votes. On the other side of the coin... please do not stay home because early returns indicate that your candidate might be losing. Your vote, along with others can turn the whole picture around. We've been on a steady diet of TV pundits telling us that this election will be totally different from voter history of throwing out the party of the administration. There has been a daily parade of TV pundits telling anyone who will listen that the democrats will be lucky to take just one or two seats in the House and Senate. They tell us that voter turnout will be off. Don't believe them. If you don't vote, the pundits will be correct. If you do vote, the pundits will have lots of crow to eat. I'd like to see that. You'd like to see that. Go out and vote so we can watch the crow-eating feast together! ~ Cathy Subj: Donahue makes Matthews pout Dear BuzzFlash, Phil really ripped Matthews tonight, it was a thing of beauty. He even went as far as to call him a beltway boy who was too close to the people he interviews. Chris was offended. It was great. Phil just proved what everyone knows--if you confront a conservative they fold like a card table w/Drew Carey on it. thank
you, Subj: Quote of the Day
Chewgababy Dear Buzz-
I found this prayer, modified it just a bit, for us to pass on to everyone today. Its very generic and will help us to see that we can lift ourselves via spirit out of this mess today!!
For *great* inspiration on how to further get out of this insanity, get a copy of Marianne Williamsons book, The Healing of America. Its truly inspiring and a great blueprint for political change in this country! Its *not* just a spiritual essay on what is wrong with the country its a way to take charge and truly change the course of history, calling up the inspiration of Gandhi and Martin Luther King.
A prayer for the nation today, election day.
From Marianne Williamson:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Debbi Baird Subj: The Lost 91,000 votes Dear BuzzFlash, A rape of democracy is about to occur in Florida -- again - and yet the American TV news people have NO COMMENT on it. During the 2000 election season, the Florida state government hired a Texas-based firm to purge dead, duplicate , felon, or in any way illegal voters from its voter registration lists. So far, so good. Unfortunately for DEMOCRACY, Florida state officials (hint: Jeb Bush, the Republican candidate's brother, and Katherine Harris, the Republican candidate's campaign manager in Florida) "neglected" to read the rest of the instructions from the firm that did the purge. Florida state officials were warned that they would need to cull trough the lists because they included many legal voters whose names were on the Purge List ONLY because their birth dates were similar, or their names were SOMEWHAT similar to felons or deceased voters.. You will recall, the list was NEVER culled through by Ms. Harris' department or Jeb Bush's officials -- or any Florida state or county officials. The 94,000 names on the Purge List stayed right there, on the list, through Election Day 2000. A sane and FAIR person world have assumed that in the intervening year and three quarters, Florida state officials -- out of some sense of DECENCY, patriotism, sense of fair-play, or just some interest in complying with the law -- would have culled through that Purge List BEFORE the next election, which is tomorrow. They have NOT. Nor do Florida state officials even plan to cull through the list until NEXT year. Of course. They would not wish to restore the legal voting rights of American citizens who might, just might, NOT vote for their candidates. This is a blot on Florida This is a blot on America. And this is a blot on the American media, who have been SILENT on this disgrace to American democracy. Where is YOUR voice? Where is YOUR outrage? I hear only SILENCE from the media, including you! A Sad American who still believes in the American Way even if you don't, L. Oldham Subj: Vote Fraud and Malarkey Dear Fellow Progressive: Please review the following websites: http://www.lcsun-news.com/Stories/0,1413,115%257E7442%257E965640,00.html# http://www.lcsun-news.com/Stories/0,1413,115%257E7442%257E965640,00.html# http://newtimesbpb.com/issues/2002-10-31/news2.html/1/index.html Each of these websites details an effort by the Republican Party (Lincoln has nothing to do with this!) to manipulate the vote yet again. And, there are many more. Visit www.BuzzFlash.com for more information. Each of us must steel our representatives in government to fight any post election effort by the GOP to subvert the vote. 2000 was enough. Go to the polls. You will have done your duty if you get a least 5 like-minded citizens to the polls with you. Save the Republic. Exercise your right. A BuzzFlash Reader Dear BuzzFlash, America is truly a great country. A few examples. Americans are Altruistic: Only in America will the common man (or woman), making minimum wage or slightly more, cast his vote unselfishly for a candidate promising substantial tax breaks to those few Americans who earn more in one hour than he earns in one week. (This compassion of the working person for the truly rich is a unique characteristic of American altruism.) Only in America will the common man (or woman) vote for a candidate who supports the poisoning of his water and the pollution of his air in order to save the life of a single fetus and to give that fetus the opportunity to drink poisoned water and breathe poisoned air. Only in America will the common man (or woman) vote for a candidate who is more interested in protecting the minority who run Americans corporations than the majority who work for them. (In America, there is respect for the minority.) Let's stop trashing American Culture and Recognize the Compassion, Generosity and Altruism that makes it the Number One Country on the Planet and the Number One Planet in the Galaxy and the Number One Galaxy in the Universe. And if you don't agree with me, watch out because we all have our guns. Allan |
