Dear BuzzFlash,

Did anyone else notice the odd delay between the words we heard and Bush's mouth moving? I have seen situations with a delay between a speaker talking and a delay before we hear it, but this was just the opposite - we heard the words before his mouth moved! I thought I would download from the web a video of the speech, but haven't found one available - I am still a bit confused - looked like lip-sync to me, and he was off beat. So, it is up to BuzzFlash now - you never let me down! If anyone has found a link to the video, please share!

Dear BuzzFlash,

The Faux Propaganda Network's wingnut partisanship is not news, but here are incidents from the past three days:

1) On Saturday, 9-14, Bob SELLERS of the weekend "Faux & Friends" show said that the GORE son's alleged DUI meant that GORE/&Dems "have lost any claim to the high moral ground." This "news" was featured every half hour for a good couple or three hours, and each time a clip of Al and Tipper on a campaign stop was featured, with the son barely to be seen in the background.

2) On Sunday, 9-15, a female personality said to an FBI guest that "We know that the (5 terror suspects in Buffalo?) are all REGISTERED DEMOCRATS."

3) On Monday, 9-16, Steve DOOZY introduced his wingnut Washington Times guest Bill SALMON by saying with a peeved look and tone, that GORE had been "RANTING" and DARING TO CRITICIZE the BUSH Administration AGAIN. He delivered himself of a load of this stuff, and to protect his own "cover" as a professional journalist, SALMON, a known wingnut, actually MODERATED the lines fed to him by DOOZY and his two co-hosts.

Buzz,

On 9/10 a friend said his spouse got upset and needed comforting when she heard we were ‘under orange alert.' Then I got upset - I could not believe that someone I knew actually fell for this Rumps-felt crap.

But reading BuzzFlash since DimSon's speech to the U.N., I see the spouse isn't the only one. Now it seems, international leaders have fallen for it too - this time about wag-the-dog-Iraq. Some leaders are caving in to DimSon as reward for just showing up when they didn't think he would. No matter that he presented no evidence to back up his accusations. And Russia is now trading the lives of Chechnyans for the lives of Iraqis, as though this was all some kind of swap meet instead of a potentially deadly world war.

And according to the Washington Post, the Democrats [don't get me started] are settling on a strategy of agreeing to a quick vote on force against Hussein "in the hopes of getting back to domestic matters." Don't these bozos realize that if DimSon succeeds in blowing up the world, there will be no "domestic matters" to get back to - it will be Way Too Late!

And do they honestly think that once DimSon starts shooting he'll give back the stage to corporate scandal, the disastrous economy [which will suffer more from war], and other "domestic matters'? All these other "matters" have been ‘disappeared' along with Asscroft's alleged terrorists.

Geedubya is like a spoiled brat creating uncontrolled havoc in some candy store, hollerin' and screamin' until all around him give him all he wants just to shut him up. The way he's going, he's going to shut us all up - for good!

Dear BuzzFlash,

A Test

I have a simple test for those who would like to pursue war as a solution and who find that the death of a few more innocents an acceptable price to pay. Imagine, if you would, a certain number of these innocents, let's call them Iraqi citizens for now, and let's choose a number, say 200 or so to start. Of that 200 there are perhaps 75 women, 75 men and oh about 50 children of various ages.

It is now time to kill these people and get our deserved revenge, or our 'infinite justice' as it has been put. The test is simple. You have the gun in your hand, the knife is sharpened, and the fuse is lit. Now kill them. They will not resist, and sweet revenge is at hand. Be sure to kill them, because it's not so easy sometimes and some will linger a bit, and the small children are awfully small targets. Got the picture? Don't forget the starving women, though they will be easy as they are already weakened. The screaming, the blood, the quivering body parts can all be overlooked and you say what? "The small children remind you of your own?" Oh but how easy they die at your hands. All done, test over. 200 more please. How sweet revenge.

Well how did you do? Did you pass? If you did then it may be time for you to get on a plane for Iraq and begin the killing.

If for some reason you can't imagine the horror at your own hand. If for some reason your humanity crept to the surface and you thought that maybe killing more people may not solve anything, then how can you imagine that same killing at the hands of a cruise missile or a smart bomb or whatever the disconnected television version of the killing our media will present.

Will the revenge be sweeter if someone else does the killing? Will you not have to think of the small child that reminds you of your own? Will you not console the grieving Father who lost a child the same age as yours? Is it OK somehow that you can wave a flag and say, "Kill the bastards," and not be willing to pull the trigger yourself?

Of course this very thought is the poison military leaders fear the most. If you somehow humanize or personalize the enemy, all is lost. That's how the Taliban fed the fear and kept their populations in line; by dehumanizing and demonizing the 'Great Satan', and that's how our leaders will attempt to feed the fear and keep our people in line; by dehumanizing and demonizing the 'terrorist' enemy.

How long can that last. You can only dehumanize human beings for so long until someone wakes up and says, "This is not working ..... again." Then what? What happens after a few months of dead bodies?

The question has been asked if America has the stomach for the killing and for a new war. I can't speak for America, but I know I have no stomach for it. I fail the above test miserably and think its best this new war be fought by those who pass. Which reminds me, do you think our President and his cabinet would pass?

Subj: Bush uses "Mass Distraction" in his "Lust for Oil"

Dear BuzzFlash,

This tid-bit was in the anonymous "vent" section of my daily paper: Bush is using weapons of MASS DISTRACTION to divert public attention from our disappearing IRA's, job losses and trashed economy.......... Here also is a letter that I submitted and that was printed:

"An attempt to divert nation's attention"

Why is George W. Bush so obsessed at this time with attacking Iraq? A few months ago, the mainstream media were focused on questions about Bush's and Vice President Dick Cheney's past business practices, a sagging economy and corporate scandals. Now the focus is on a possible military attack on Iraq (although most of the Sept. 11 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia). In addition to the lust for Iraq's oil supplies, could it be that much of this saber rattling is aimed at taking the focus off Bush's failings?

Hi Buzz

I sat and listened to Senator Byrd's entire speech on TV and I hope your viewers also heard it....if not I would ask that they all read it in its entirety in your column......It seems to me at this time that he is our only TRUE AMERICAN fighting for our constitutional rights and liberties........He is fighting an uphill lone battle for the lives of our sons and daughters ...... He is my HERO in his striving to keep this nation under the rule of "our constitution" as it was meant to be by the FRAMERS OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA........GOD BLESS YOU SENATOR BYRD.....KEEP IT UP PLEASE!!!!!!

Dear BuzzFlash,

International Denial

The "Plan" for God's sake has been published!! Zbigniew Brzezinski outlined the coming conflict in Iraq 4 years ago in his book, THE GRAND CHESSBOARD - American Primacy And It's Geostrategic Imperatives. He shows how a democracy cannot be relied upon to drive the engines of world domination; how central Asia is the key to any strategy of a world dominated by force.

The "Plan" was uncovered again September 15th in the Sunday Herald, "Bush Planned Iraq 'Regime Change' Before Becoming President."

'The United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein."

The September 10th Boston Globe, "Iraq War Hawks Have Plans to Reshape Entire Mideast." ''The goal is not just a new regime in Iraq. The goal is a new Middle East.''

These stories are not from far fetched conspiracy sources but are readily available to anyone willing to read. My question, "Why hasn't anyone read them?" It's the only explanation I can come up with allows the world to deny the truth in front of their faces.

FACT - We have an administration run by folks who think controlling the world, and its resources by force, is an option. NOT my opinion. It is part of very careful plan, that you can read about.

First Iraq, then Iran and finally China and Southeast Asia with a little space domination thrown in for good measure. I believe that would be your Star Wars justification. I mean how are you gonna rule Space without a solid Star Wars Program to shoot down the missiles that only we possess? Again, simply the plan, not a wild rumor.

So there you have it, the reason our country wants to invade Iraq is to begin implementing a years old plan to dominate the world through the use of the largest military known to man. What do you think? OK by you? Ok by the U.N.?

What is that you said, "You didn't know?" Well now you do. What are you going to do about it? Ignore it? Deny the existence of "The Plan"? So far that has been the best policy. Simply look the other way and think that no one would do such a thing in this modern world.

It's simply not possible that our best interests are not the first consideration. Wait, there's liberty and freedom and all that other stuff. It still sounds so good to hear the words. Maybe "The Plan" has been exaggerated. Yeah that's it, it's a conspiracy nut thing, "Cut me in for a little of the oil after that freedom and liberty stuff has been taken care of, I'll just look over here while you guys get us some of the plunder."

And oh yeah, we're the United Nations after all and we go in for all that freedom and human rights stuff too. Can't be a plan like that. We'll consider our options. Errr...You mean you are now the only ones with weapons of mass destruction? Oh, then I am sure you will get us some more of that freedom you were talking about. What was the price again?

So we go on as little children, hoping our powerful protector will take care of everything and destroy evil and let us know when that liberty stuff has been achieved. We naively ponder the daily distractions of silly U.N. resolutions and Weapons of Mass Whatever and the evil that lurks darned near everywhere all the while ignoring the writing that is not only on the walls, but IN BOOKS!

Is "The plan" a bad plan? It is not that black and white. Perhaps "The Plan" is the best thing for the world. Perhaps it will serve the greatest good that our multi-national corporations own all the resources and rule the world by force. Either way, good or bad, we cannot have that discussion until we at least LOOK at the pink elephant in the middle of general assembly floor.

In the mean time we sit in our comfortable world of denial and we wait. We wait for the world to wake up. We wait for the world to begin questioning the oh so contrived answers. And we wait for the world to pull its head out of its collective rear end and smell "The Plan".

Dear BuzzFlash,

Do we really believe that this administration, which was never elected, is going to be satisfied with a U.N. inspection. We know that Bush-Cheney will be on the air in a matter of hours telling the gullible American public that we need to go to war. Strange that these people who are so opposed to abortion think nothing of killing innocent children in a nation which was armed by us.

Congress, of course, will do its usual roll over job. How about a rule which states that The Bush and Cheney children go over in the first wave of ground troops. Indeed, since all of the Bush people never served in the military let them all demonstrate their bravery.

Richard J. Hendin

p.s. How about an investigation by congress of what happened to Bush's second year in the reserves. Do we have a deserter as commander in chief?

Subj: Congressional Authorization for War

Dear BuzzFlash,

Maybe one of your writers would like to expand upon the suggestion that Congress not even consider discussion of the war issue until the Administration complies with the law regarding Mr. Cheney's secret energy taskforce This is not unreasonable since they need to address allegations that their war aims are just about oil barrels painted with stars and stripes.

Dear BuzzFlash,

Today, in Knoxville TN, a train carrying Sulfuric Acid derailed and forced citizens in that area of evacuate. Thank God it wasn't the Nuclear Waste that goes to Yucca Mtn.

Now, this is the same track that has or will be carrying the Nuclear Waste from Oak Ridge to Yucca Mtn, NV. Question: Am I to be thankful it wasn't the Nuclear Waste? Just imagine if this was not just acid? This city has 500,000 ppl living in the city limits!

Gee, Bush...ever think of that when he asked the waste to be moved? And, what about a terrorist threat? Did they think of that when they decided to move waste? Scary. The trains are right there, on our tracks--just carrying instant death.

I think the readers should know about our derailment and be concerned about the fact that they do HAPPEN. This time, we were just lucky it wasn't Nuclear Material. Here are some Links..

Dear BuzzFlash,

This may be too late, but...

I just put this "call to action" on my site... maybe you can help get the word out (if you want to, that is). You also have my permission to reprint this on BuzzFlash, if you'd rather. Of course a link to farleyfiles would be appreciated, but is not required. This is both important and "time sensitive," so whatever works best for you, works for me.

Call your Senators! Tell them to Just Say 'NO' to Fascism!

You wouldn't know it from the mainstream media, but last Thursday and Friday, Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) nearly single-handedly brought the Homeland Security juggernaut to a halt. Why? Senators Lieberman (D- CT) and Graham (D-FL) introduced an amendment to the bill that he opposed, and the Senate was preparing to vote on that amendment with just 15 minutes of debate. Why does Senator Byrd oppose the bill? Two reasons:

1) There are two positions associated with the Homeland Security bill: A Cabinet officer that will be confirmed by the "advice and consent" of the Senate and that would actually (at least, nominally) be in charge of the department, and a Director of the White House Office of Terrorism. Although the Senate's Homeland Security bill originally provided that this second position would also be confirmed by the Senate, the Lieberman amendment would removes this provision, making the appointment solely the decision of the President. The Director would be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the "war on terra" that aren't in the Department of Homeland Security. According to current legislation, that would include the CIA, the FBI, the military, and some aspects of the INS. Sen. Byrd has been arguing that this post should also be confirmed by the Senate.

As Senator Byrd pointed out, this is not a partisan stance. It doesn't matter who the president is. That's too much power for any president, Democrats included.

2) The legislation setting up the department, as it now stands, basically says "OK, we authorize the department to be formed. You (Bush) can create it however you want to" and that's it for Congressional input. The rest is all on the schedule and at the discretion of the pResident.

Byrd's amendment says, basically, we'll authorize a phase-in of the formation of this Department. You tell us how you want the first part to go, we'll look at that and authorize it if we think it's reasonable. Then we'll see how the department operates, watch what happens, then, you propose how you want the second part to be formed, and we'll repeat the process.

Senator Byrd stood up for our right to have a say in this Department - both its creation and its personnel. Now the ball's in our court. Call your Senator and tell him or her to vote for the Byrd amendment and against the Lieberman Amendment! The vote is scheduled for 5:15 pm, Tuesday (9/17/02). May we be as courageous and forceful as Senator Byrd has been in this fight to ensure that Congress retains meaningful oversight and control of both the creation and the operation of this "Department of Homeland Security" behemoth.

Find your Senator's phone number at Juan E. Cabanela's "Contacting the Congress" site. (Click on your state. If you'd prefer to send a fax, click on the "Bio" button next to your Senators' names.)

Dear BuzzFlash,

You ran this headline: "Bush Aide Says Iraq War Cost May Reach $200 Billion. How Many Hungry Children Can Be Fed with $200 Billion? How Many Cures Can Be Found? 9/17"

The better question is, "How much of that $200 billion will end up in the Bush family trust fund, through the Carlyle Group?"

Subj: IN HIS OWN WORDS... GOV. JEB BUSH ON ELECTION REFORM

Dear BuzzFlash,

"Today we begin an important first step in addressing statewide election reform." (ABC News Nightline, December 14, 2000)

"We must make reliable and accurate the very machinery of democracy, the voting process. For 37 days last fall, Florida was thrust onto the world stage as we waited for the outcome of the presidential election. ... I say let us be known as a people who are humble enough to acknowledge our shortcomings, and principled enough to seek to correct them. I ask that we dedicate the resources that are needed to modernize our voting systems and move forward with confidence into the next election cycle." (2001 State of the State Address, March 6, 2001)

"Instead of focusing on the past, we've been focusing on 2002. ... We took advantage of the scrutiny the state got -- and had we not done it, shame on us." (Washington Post, May 5, 2001)

"Florida's election process is now the envy of the nation. Last week the Legislature acted by passing comprehensive election reform that will create one of the finest election systems anywhere." (Jeb Bush Administration Press Release, May 9, 2001)

"My hope is that people will see that we have resolved the problem. ... Other states ought to look at this as a model because if there is another close election in another state, I guarantee you that they will not be able to withstand the incredibly scrutiny that occurred in Florida." (CNN.com, May 9, 2001)

"With this (election reform) bill, we can stand all the scrutiny of the nation." (St. Petersburg Times, May 10, 2001)

"For a period of time, Florida was the laughingstock of late-night television. From the confusion of the election, we have built a system that will be the envy of the nation." (South Florida Sun-Sentine, November 7, 2001)

"Florida is indisputably a national leader in election reform." (Associated Press, June 21, 2002)

"What is it with Democrats having a hard time voting? I don't know." (Associated Press, September 10, 2002)

Subj: The Cheney - Limbaugh Lovefest

Dear BuzzFlash,

The part of the Cheney appearance on Rush Limbaugh's radio show that almost brought up my lunch was this exchange at the end of their mutual body massage:

Cheney: All right, Rush. Great to talk to you, as always. Love your show.

Rush: Thank you.

Cheney: You do great work and I'm pleased to have the opportunity to be on it.

To have the man who is a microchip-regulated heartbeat away from the Presidency admit to loving the work of one of America's worst purveyors of hatred, demagoguery and disinformation removes all doubt as to the unfitness of Dick Cheney for public office.

Dear BuzzFlash,

Let's get a movement going of labeling Republicans what they are, "The Party of Nags." One example is their favorite Chief Radio Nag Rush Limbaugh. I'm sick of the republican chicanery. Let's get rid of some of their sneers as they say "Democrat." We'd be lost out here without our BuzzFlash inputs. Thanks for the good job.

Subj: Bush Ordered Arrest of Suspects

Dear BuzzFlash,

President George W. Bush ordered the weekend arrests of five alleged members of a Lackawanna "sleeper cell" who are suspected of having ties to the al-Qaida terrorist network, sources familiar with the investigation said Sunday. The president, after briefings from the FBI and Justice Department, told agents to move ahead with the arrests because of fears that the five Lackawanna men - or others associated with them - might soon be called to action by al-Qaida network, the sources said. Information that was picked up "overseas" indicated that "this is a cell that is setting up," said one government source, who asked not to be identified by name. Investigators do not know what kind of activity the cell might have been planning. The source said it could have been "a support role" rather than a direct terrorist attack, even though the five men stand accused of receiving terror training at an al-Qaida camp in Afghanistan.

Re: Gov. Pataki/TIPS program

Dear BuzzFlash,

> What do you New Yorkers think about Governor Pataki's announcement today that he will initiate the TIPS program in your state?

I think you already know the answer. I live in New York and am completely disgusted with this obvious cheap shot at getting the "paranoia" vote. As we all know, any TIPS program will merely succeed at harassing innocent Americans. A terrorist organization clever enough to pull off 9/11 (with help from the administration) is not stupid enough to get caught by a waitress or plumber.

Pataki is an invisible Governor. His popularity seems to be based on this fact. He makes no waves, he does nothing. He was originally elected due to his claim that he would reinstitute the death penalty in New York. It's never been utilized, but like any promise that includes the words "tax cut" it was well-received by the blood-thirsty.

Many people forget that New York State is not New York City. In upstate New York, there is a very large conservative element. During the 2000 elections, it seemed like every deli and gift shop in the Catskill Mountains sold "Lazio" bubble gum (!), while bumper stickers proudly proclaimed "Hillary Go Home!" Ugh!

As things stand now, Pataki is poised to win in a landslide. But not content with the poll results, he initiated a smear campaign against the Independent/Conservative candidate in order to lock up as many lines in the voting booth as possible. The NYS TIPS program must be more of the same. Unfortunately, and as is usually the case, innocent New Yorkers will pay the price for this stupidity.

Subject: Three-minute Discrepancy in Tape

Dear BuzzFlash,

At what point do we need heroes more than we deserve the truth?

For those of us who have closely followed the events surrounding the crashing of Flight 93 in that Pennsylvania field, there can be no other logical conclusion to be drawn other than the one indicating that the plane was shot down.

This most recent article identifying an unexplained missing three minutes at the end of the flight recording tends to provide one more answer as opposed to the inference that it just raises more questions:

http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/4084323.htm

The story indicates that "papers" from the aircraft were found up to 8 miles away. This is actually the "official" accounting after it was already reported that there were plane parts and luggage in a lake 6 miles away, and that there were even body parts found along the flight's path to its final resting place.

Who besides the most gullible would believe that an unmarked commercial jet would be sent to check out a crash crater, especially considering that all flights were being grounded at the time? Witnesses saw the military aircraft enter the area, they heard the crash, then witnessed the plane leaving the area. Did the air controllers possibly anticipate the crater, and therefore sent in the commercial plane beforehand? The plausibility meter goes haywire when presented with such ludicrous explanations.

Were those who tried to regain control of that flight heroes regardless of whether or not they had time to fulfill their intentions? Absolutely! There is no disputing that those brave individuals were putting their lives on the line to avoid the likely killing of others with another missile of death.

But there is something quite troubling about how our government continually lies to us and not even credibly covers up what is obvious to even casual observers. I saw Dick Cheney on Meet the Press describing how the shoot down order would have been given. His body language was very telling, and he described things as if they happened, not as if it might happen. We later learned that the order was indeed given and that there were supersonic jets in the area at the time of the crash.

If the plane was in fact shot down, then who would have criticized the Administration in light of everything else that had happened that morning? Even more than those brave policemen and firefighters that perished in the Twin Towers, the resolve of Flight 93 passengers has been cited as the sort of resolve that is needed in a crisis situation. It plays out like a movie script during Bush's worldwide war on terrorism, but at nearly every clip along the way, the story line just doesn't track with reality.

Although possibly inferred at the end of the article, let me state it plainly - the last three minutes of the recording were not shared with the victim's families because of what would be revealed about the intercept and bringing down of Flight 93. Not a heroic maneuver by those who have exploited their preferred end result.

Click here: Florida GOP shows its fear of Reno by running ads for Bush clone McBride

Dear Buzz:

After reading your mailbag tonight, 9/16, I realized that many of your readers have bought, hook-line-and-sinker, the utter malarkey churned out by the Bush machine, regarding the prospects of Janet Reno and No-History McBride. They have constantly demeaned and ridiculed Reno at every opportunity, declaring in every single news article, commentary, and media outlet: that Reno had "just too much baggage" and "could not possibly beat" Jebbie. Nothing was further from the truth!!! This was total Bush propaganda repeated endlessly by the compliant media every day for weeks, if not months. It was almost an exact copy of what they did to Al Gore. Remember the chants of, "Liar, liar" -- "He doesn't even know who he is" -- "No one really likes him," etc, etc, etc.???

Well, after we all watched what the media did to Al Gore-- before, during, and after the 2000 election, I surely thought the voters would be much more skeptical regarding ALL media hype, (particularly NOW, with the dangerous and power-hungry thugs running our government-- thanks in no small part to the shamefully dishonest media). I know-- the election was stolen, but if not for the media's nauseatingly dishonest coverage-- it NEVER would have been close enough to steal!!!

Janet Reno is an independent, honest, intelligent, and caring politician who would have been the best possible governor for the state of Florida. She would have beaten Jebbie easily in November... Jebbie's people apparently knew that too, so with the help of their friends in the media, they worked tenaciously in portraying Reno as a sure loser...

I'm just so sad that their lies were so damn effective -- one more time -- in eliminating a really good candidate. AND despite all the negatives heaped on her by the media-whores nonstop right up to the primary, it appears that she would have won anyway-- if not for all the election shenanigans pulled at the polls!!! Doesn't any of this seem familiar to your readers? It's too late now, but I hope you post this article anyhow, so perhaps some of your readers will realize that they were duped once again by a very slick campaign of GOP directed media bullshit!!! The GOP motto, 'IF YOU REPEAT A LIE OFTEN ENOUGH, IT BECOMES THE TRUTH,' unfortunately, is just as effective today as it was in campaign 2000. The democratic voters in the recent primary have demonstrated that this strategy is still highly effective, and working just fine. Sincerely,

S. Sanchez

Subj: The enemy's compliance with our demands is to be viewed as "an ominous development"

Dear BuzzFlash,

Well you must give the BUSHitters credit for one thing, they are consistent in their dedication to the principles of Orwellian governance. They can be counted on to always rewrite history and current events to suit their agenda and, if the news, no matter how positive, thwarts their basic agenda i.e. multinational corporate welfare, they can be counted on to give it the worst possible spin. Such shameless revisionism was nowhere more apparent than in their reaction to Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's offer of the unconditional return of arms inspectors to his country. Although most sane thinking rational people who abhor war and wish to avoid a blood bath in which many young Americans would die needlessly, would hail this as welcome news, the Bushitters reaction has been dismayingly predictable i.e. this is "a ruse and a tactic that will fail." Why such a negative reaction to the prospect that war can be avoided? Well it seems that peace and internationally enforced disarmament will thwart their true ultimate objective which, as the report in the Sunday Herald of Scotland illustrates, is really the establishment of a significant permanent military presence in the Persian Gulf to allow direct control over the oil fields there.

Never mind, of course, that such a permanent presence to prop up dictatorial regimes that suppress basic human rights for their people such as Saudi Arabia is inevitably likely to result in an eventual ferocious backlash which would far eclipse that which we endured as the result of supporting the shah of Iran. Rather than promoting democracy and freedom in the region which would be the best antidote to prevent future fanatics like Bin Laden from commanding a popular following, this reactionary administration is desperately clinging to the strategy of preserving unstable repressive regimes to further their own narrow economic interests. Our entire foreign policy has been clearly subverted to one overarching objective, using raw military power to advance the economic interests of a few obscenely wealthy multinational corporations no matter what the long term bloody consequences of those actions. This agenda is transparently clear to the rest of the world and to those like the courageous patriot Scott Ritter who has had the temerity to speak truth to power and sound the lonely call for a peaceful resolution of the Iraqi situation via the return of arms inspectors. He has convincingly established that such unlimited inspections would achieve the Bush Administration's publicly stated objective of dismantling any remaining weapons of mass destruction while simultaneously ensuring that no American lives would be needlessly sacrificed in a senseless slaughter that would give birth to the next generation of political fanatics hell bent on inflicting punishment on our country. The American people should say enough is enough and have the courage to follow his suggested course. We stand as a nation for more than the unbridled naked use of raw military power. We stand as a nation for an unswerving commitment to securing basic human rights and freedom, and we should live up to our principles. However, you can rest assured that Junior and the boys obviously have no intention of suddenly promoting peace and human rights since that would interfere with "doin' bizness, don't ya know?"

Dear BuzzFlash,

BuzzFlash was most amusing this morning. I particularly liked "How Saddam Happened" and "HHS Seeks Science Advice to Match Bush Views" (washingtonpost.com). They have helped remind me that we do not reside on a rational planet. I am coming to believe that we are players in a planet that was created by alien beings to satirize the notion that there is intelligent life in the universe. Each day they tune in on a different aspect of life on earth, chew on their alien popcorn and laugh uproariously at the thought that humans on earth consider themselves to be a rational species. It is somewhat comforting to know that our sorry plight is bringing joy to wiser beings on another planet.
