Dear BuzzFlash,

Thanks for grabbing this video! It's going into my permanent history-in-the-making file.

You asked for feedback . . . .

There's no THERE there. Looking at bu$h, I would swear he wasn't told anything more earthshaking than it might rain tomorrow. That is one cold basta . . . er, dude. I thought at the time that he had advance knowledge ~ that he was expecting the news. Seeing this tape does nothing to dispel that perception.

Hi,

FYI- I noticed last night (6/11) that BuzzFlash.com had a link to a CBS story with a quote "U.S. officials are backing away from assertions..." about the bogus dirty-bomber guy.

Well now the story at that address has a different slant, and no mention of anyone backing away.

Someone e-mailed the original story to me from a Yahoo group.

Ari prolly picked up the Bat-phone again and told them to "watch what they say"

PS- Looks like the next security "tools" our Rulers will desperately need for our safety is a legal and easy way to strip any American of their US citizenship so we can send 'em to Cuba to face the tribunals of infinite justice.

Then, if the Tribunal decides not to execute them (and George Bush agrees), and they are found innocent of being a terrorist, THEN they can have their US citizenship back along with an official certificate to prove it. Patriot Act, Part II?

Hey!

I just checked at the Emma Booker webpage and Mr. Bush's film seems to have ended it's run. It lasted longer than I thought it would. I bet they say that the server was overloaded and that the students could not access their assignments.

Dear BuzzFlash,

So, if we had any lingering questions or doubts about whether or not Junior and his chief hatchetman for the Bill of Rights, John Axecroft, would honor the constitution in their overarching zeal to make the world safe for oil pipelines, I mean safe from the evildewars, or whatever the current cause de jour or "official" explanation is these days, these questions or doubts were swept away in a tidal wave by the announcement this week of the secret arrest and detention without probable cause of Mr. Padilla, the individual alleged to have been associated with terrorists and planning some "really bad things." What those bad things are we don't know since the government won't say. In the normal American situation which existed, whenever the Constitution was still in force and followed, if the government wished to detain someone and deprive them of their liberty they were required to demonstrate to a judge probable cause of that individual's involvement in criminal activity. The government is definitively required to do this, as per the express wishes of the founding fathers, who themselves were quite aware of the insidious and dictatorial use of secret legal proceedings to silence political dissent tolerated by the English Common Law. The Star Chamber was not just a Michael Douglas movie but rather a monstrous secret court which was used by the British Crown to protect and expand its power. Clearly our government does not have credible, legally sufficient evidence against Mr. Padilla, which could be accepted by a court of law, or they would not have resorted to this blatantly authoritarian and highly alarming course of action.

What makes the chosen course of action of shipping Padillo incommunicado to military detention, and denying him the right to the normal guarantees of due process, so particularly alarming, and an enormous threat to our well-established democratic and legal institutions, is that it establishes a gravely serious totalitarian precedent. The Padillo precedent, if allowed to stand, would establish the proposition that the constitution and all of its guarantees of due process, a speedy public trial, the right to counsel, the right to be free of cruel and unusual punishment, in short all of the things that set this nation apart from a country of thugs and criminal dictators, like Stalinist Russia and Nazi Germany were, and Communist China currently is, can be blithely ignored at the mere whim of the President. So long as the President says "I think this person may have relevant information regarding terrorism" the individual can be whisked away by the military to an undisclosed location for an indefinite time and never be given a trial. Even Solzhenitsyn had a trial before being shipped off to the Gulag. This is frankly appalling and frightening in its potential reach. ANY CITIZEN can be subject to this type of treatment for NO REASON at all. All Junior has to do is invent a reason out of whole cloth, and he could carry these types of detentions out against anyone, anywhere at any time. He's done it to 2,401 people at last count. How many more will he add to his scorecard before he is finished playing dictator, which by his past public statements is what he has aspired to since it "would be a lot easier." If you are not fearful of this nation's apparent rapid spiraling descent into fascism, then I remind you of the words of Reverend Niemoller:

First they came for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up,
because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up,
because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up,
because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

Dear BuzzFlash,

I watched the video a couple of times and replayed the start just to make sure I understood correctly that the first plane had already hit the first tower. The lack of emotion is rather unsettling. Not that I expected him to over react, but no reaction!

Dear BuzzFlash,

Minister of Fear or Ministry of Disinformation?

I suggest that whenever someone in this administration releases a news item, then it is a clear signal to search for another more important item. I found that there were two other very disturbing newsworthy items completely buried by the "Dirty Bomber" headlines.

It is widely recognized that this country has a one track mind when it comes to a lead story, in that only one or two (at the most) news items are "headlined" all across the country on all major media per news cycle. Each and every well-timed flashy press release from this overly secretive administration should be taken suspiciously. So for you to opine that they're just trying to fill a slow news day in order to keep up the political tension is only half the story. Look just a tad deeper to find out what story they are covering up.

So are you curious about the other news items I found to be worthy of covering up?

How about the fact that a "mysterious Republican Senator" blocked efforts to overhaul the FBI DESPITE having been approved unanimously by the Judiciary committee? or, could be here....

"Administration officials said last fall that some White House staff members had begun taking the antibiotic Cipro on Sept. 11, weeks before the anthrax attacks were made public."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A15269-2002Jun7.html

Now, if you REALLY want to go completely "against the grain", try giving the next faux press release a once over for the dates, and if it's obviously stale, go to BuzzFlash Report and surf through the top five or ten stories.

Tom Rhule, Charleston WV

Dear BuzzFlash,

In the fog since 9/11, I hope no one forgets that in the hours immediately following the attacks our illustrious FBI (of course, acting on orders) secreted 20+ members of bin Laden’s family out of our country by air. On planes, when no American citizen could get in the air, we got them out of the country. Now, tell me that Bush didn't have bin Laden’s name on his mind. If you still have that story, it might be worth a reprint. I’ll also check my files.

Thank You

Barbra Stickler

[BuzzFlash Note: "24 of Osama family were whisked out of US after attacks" There has been some question about how soon they were allowed to leave. Some reports have indicated they were flown out on 9/11, other reports have said they left a few days later. It still doesn't downplay the significance of the event or the close ties between the Bush and bin Laden families.]

Dear BuzzFlash,

I've watched the video of Bush at the Booker Elementary School with great interest. The classroom scene is of course mind-boggling, in that the person notifying Bush of the second collision talks to Bush very briefly, and doesn't wait for any response at all.

But I'm even more curious about the speech that W gave a short while later. A timeline I have in another window shows the second plane crash occurring at 9:02am, and Bush's speech at 9:26am, a mere 24 minutes later. It seems almost painfully obvious that Bush is reading from a prepared speech, in which he states that he has spoken to the Vice President, the governor of New York and the head of the FBI. He must have been very busy in those 24 minutes! I guess it's not impossible, but I find it all a little dubious. It all seems so thoroughly "scripted." I do wonder if maybe the speech was written before the actual incident. But I guess we'll never know.

David Gordon Hogan

Dear BuzzFlash,

One of the small comforts I find in reading your letters is to know that I am not alone in my fear and misery. Besides providing a lifeline to information, I also experience a sense of community is being provided. I feel, in the letters sent to you, the same dread, the same sickness that literally permeates my every conscious hour. I feel the same desperation that an addict may feel, although my addiction is to truth and revelation. I cannot stop myself - from reading, digging, and learning..but it brings me no satisfaction..only more pain.

I have alienated friends and loved ones with my singularity of purpose, but I refuse to - and I can't - let up.

I have heard all the contrary arguments...emptier now than they ever were. And I have heard the bottom line of those who cannot offer facts in their support - "If you hate the country so much, why don't you leave." My stock answer to that has always been that I love my country and only want to change it for the better. Now, for the first time in my life, leaving doesn't seem like such a bad idea.

But I realize, this problem, this disease that we are trying to overcome, is now global, even if the root is located here. We need a solution. We need a light to shine somewhere in this darkness.

I have a suggestion. It's time for a groundswell. It's time to stop waiting for something to happen, and time to start focusing energy on MAKING it happen.

We need to promote someone to challenge this administration on literally everything. We need someone fearless. We need someone not only uncorrupted, but incorruptible. I suggest that person is Rep. Dennis Kucinich.

Mr. Kucinich, you have long had my respect, but it grows exponentially as you distance yourself from those afraid to voice opposition. I ask that you declare yourself a candidate for president - now - today, however unorthodox that may be. Forget organization for now, that would come. Forget about funding for now, that would follow. What we need is for you to be there, every day, countering every move, telling every truth to their every lie. As a declared candidate, the mainstream media may even pay some attention to you.

Think of the reaction you received with your marvelously inspired "A Prayer For America" on the House floor. Consider the reaction and support you will receive from the millions who need you.

I have no idea how to organize this. But I know those in the BuzzFlash community do. Please write and affirm this suggestion. Please offer ways to make it become reality.

I ask that we join now to take Mr. Kucinich under our wing as he takes us under his. Let's stop being many divergent voices scattered across the wilderness of our country. Let us become one.

Dear Buzz,

Just read: SO MUCH FOR BUSH'S STEWARDSHIP IN PROTECTING OUR SECRETS: "A British satellite enthusiast has discovered that anyone can tune in live to U.S spy plane transmissions." 6/13

So the adults are back in charge...

Maybe the youth will be frightened into voting when they realize the people with their finger on "the button" can't even program their own VCR's?

Dear BuzzFlash,

Sad (but not surprising) to see the edited movie removed from the school website.

However it is still telling to page through the timeline as represented by the photo gallery that remains on the school website.........

There was obviously massive video and photo coverage of the occasion

http://www.sarasota.k12.fl.us/emma/9.11.01/photogallery4.html

By 8:15 in the morning, those who had Stage Passes were asked to move to the Media Center and begin the waiting game for the President. Excitement was in the air.

http://www.sarasota.k12.fl.us/emma/9.11.01/photogallery6.html

While we were waiting in the Media Center, President Bush was in Mrs. Daniels' 2nd grade class listening to a reading lesson. Everyone in the room was quite excited and honored. With the President was Lieutenant Governor Brogan, Secret Service agents, Secretary of Education Paige, and our principal, Mrs. Rigell.

Seems like all the photos show the prez's chair conspicuously empty....why?

Next we are at http://www.sarasota.k12.fl.us/emma/9.11.01/photogallery7.html which shows lots of the Prez...but none of him listening to the goat story or Andy Card whispering in his ear. Just him making his broadcast to the nation about the "apparent' terrorist attack. Nice to know that the Prez didn't consider the 2 hits a tragic coincidence.

While standing on the stage, we heard from a Secret Service agent that the first plane had hit the first tower. At first, we thought it was a small passenger plane and a terrible accident. Shortly after that, we heard about the second plane and that both had been commercial flights. We had a hard time processing this very unreal information.

The President, who was to have been announced, quickly and quietly entered the Media Center with no introductions. Considering the unfolding events, we were surprised he had taken the time to address us. His remarks were brief, and the look on his face revealed the immensity of the situation........

It doesn't seem to me like a complete photo record, considering the huge coverage of that occasion, but a rather sanitized version of events. Why was the 'star of the show' not be seen listening to the kids which was why the reason he was there?

Is it coincidental that brother Jeb is in charge of Florida and its schools...?

Are there no other copies of the complete video of that occasion? There must have been lots taken.

Dear BuzzFlash,

The real story is not that there was vandalism. The real story is that in every transition looked at by the GAO there was some damage and pranks. The difference in 2001 is the incoming Bushies used it to try to smear the the outgoing Clinton administration.

From page 80 of the GAO report:

"We searched major newspapers and selected magazines for any news reports regarding the condition of the White House office space during the 1981, 1989, or 1993 presidential transitions and found only one such mention. The March 1981 issue of Washingtonian magazine indicated that incoming Reagan administration staff had some complaints about the condition of the EEOB that were similar to observations made by EOP staff in 2001."

Despite the clear evidence in the report that their had been some damage and pranks during every transition examined, this quote shows that it is only in recent Republican transitions that incoming administrations have tried to use the press to tarnish the previous one.

My hat goes off to the Bush II transition for doing such a wonderful job of using what is, unfortunately, common place, transition damage, for such artful political gain.

Did you?

I am praying it isn't true, but deep down inside I know that it is. It's that same feeling I had when the My Lai hearings were going on - you remember those?

God, please help us. We are supposed to be better than the terrorists! We are supposed to be the champions of truth & justice. We are supposed to be the good guys! It's bad enough that we went over to that poor country & flattened them, killed thousands of innocent civilians, but this? This is an atrocity - I don't want my country doing this in my name. They are not talking about a few people - they are talking about the massacre of 3000 people.

Excuse me while I go throw up again.

This just really pisses me off. Maybe, just maybe if the Bush Administration had been DOING THEIR JOBS instead of dissecting the GAO report & trying to pin blame of Clinton staffers, maybe those 3000 people would still be alive.

I am just so sick of all their dirty tricks, their hypocrisy, their hatred.

Dear BuzzFlash,

When the Supreme Court anointed the Emperor Without Clothes as our President my reaction was that they would never get away with it. No one would allow this to happen! Not in the US! We're AMERICANS and no one messes with our fundamental rights! The Supreme Court of the United States of America, the last bastion of our Constitution, the last word on intricately difficult legal issues where right and wrong is unclear had just done the unthinkable. I waited for the proverbial media fishing frenzy. Again the unthinkable happened. There was no frenzy, except when Condit's scandal hit.

Many unthinkable things have happened since. I can't possibly list them all here, but the basic rights of every citizen to legal representation and counsel have been done away with as if someone had magically waved them away. The holding of prisoners in cages without naming what kind of prisoner they are - war prisoners, evildoer detainees, what? Suspending all legalities just because they say so. And Darth Ashkroft Vader, self-appointed Christian Morality Bossman pushing his Fundamentalist beliefs down our throats as if the separation of the Church and State had never existed. The plunder of our robust and healthy economy spent to give more money to people who don't need it and literally taking food and medical care and aid away from children, the poor, the disenfranchised. The world is screwed up and all upside down and ass-backwards all of a sudden, and few seem to notice or care that the unthinkable is happening again and again.

Every outrage the Emperor's administration piles on seems to make the feeling more familiar, more mundane, more expected. Are Americans getting used to Big Brother already? So soon? Only one and a half years into this Brave New World? That's pathetic!!

When and if the mainstream media get over their puppy love crush for the Emperor and reason starts to set in I surely hope the unthinkable becomes the unthinkable again.

Thanks BuzzFlash!

Dear BuzzFlash,

Subj: What the . . .

re: The elementary school video of 9/11... Bush' s reaction is amazing...

is he trying to front for the kids, like all is okay... is he just stunned... does he feel like "the show must go on" (for he was certainly involved in "a show" about being Mr. Education)... OR was he unmoved BECAUSE HE EXPECTED IT. And another puzzlement - he had already heard about the first one; did he assume it was just an accident?? Even if it wasn't a terrorist attack, it was still a terrible tragedy that was still unfolding.

What a strange person... or is it just Florida?

Dear Buzz:

I had little doubt in my mind that the Bush crew knew all along that the 9/11 attacks were imminent. After watching the video taken at the Florida school that morning, I have no doubts remaining. There was no look of surprise, dismay, disgust, fear, horror, or sadness. Just blankness. The video left me feeling so sad for our country that we have such an inept president.

Thank you for providing the link. Even though it disgusted me, it is something every American should see.

Dear BuzzFlash,

Subj: No whitewater rage over Haliburton?

Dear Sirs,

The reason there is no whitewater-type rage over Haliburton, is due to the absence of a "wing conspiracy".

Whitewater stayed alive, because of a "vast right-wing conspiracy": One group makes the charge and later passes off the baton to a fresh group who then carries it another distance, until at last they reach a finish-line.

Democrats, on the other hand, make a charge and then run until they are exhausted and look for fresh runners, only to find none. The baton is dropped and a new democrat takes up a new charge.

Until and unless the democrats put in place a "vast left-wing" conspiracy they will continue to come across as harmless eunuchs.

Disgusted democrat.

The Brookings Institute has released the report on Bush's tax cut: It will reduce the size of the future economy, raise interest rates, make taxes more regressive, increase tax complexity, and prove fiscally unsustainable. These conclusions question the wisdom and affordability of the tax cut and suggest that Congress reconsider the legislation, especially in light of the economic downturn and terrorist attacks that have occurred since last summer.

Dear BuzzFlash,

I understand that yesterday the Justice Dept. appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee to defend its action in the Padilla case.

This administration has been chipping away at the constitution bit by bit. What they do today and get away with will be expanded tomorrow. It all seems to be carefully planned and played out bit by bit.

First of all Padilla is the second native born citizen being held contrary to our normal judicial procedures.

Secondly, the whole concept of "indefinite detention" without trial or recourse is completely alien to our concepts of justice. In a war without end it constitutes a life sentence. He becomes the first prisoner in a "concentration camp".

As was originally pointed out by many legal scholars, the Military Tribunals and indefinite detention seem intended to produce convictions or imprisonment where the government could not win a conviction in a court of law under our constitution. In other words an administrative judgment of guilt has been made, and there will either be no trial or a show trial. In fact the President himself becomes as in the Padilla case, prosecutor and judge. Only a dictator and a dictatorship asserts such powers.

As to the claims that this is necessary to protect intelligence sources we have all seen that very often the secret information is insufficient to establish guilt. Its use is to obtain imprisonment without justice.

This administration started with a claim that these extraordinary procedures would only be applied to non citizens. But while they were making such claims, people such as Asst. AG. Michael Chertoff were also publicly stating that the administration could apply the procedures to citizens, but had not chosen to do so.

Well now they have chosen to do so. You may think I am being factitious but one could make a good case against Rep. McKinney for consorting with the enemy and undermining public confidence.

Now I consider her a patriot, but I doubt that those in the White House share that belief. There has been no hesitation on the part of this administration to brand opponents as obstructionists and to question their patriotism and both Ashcroft and Fleischer have made statements that constitute threats against those who would dare to question the actions of this administration.

If they continue to get away with there attacks on the Bill of Rights and their steps towards a dictatorship it will only be a matter of time before other US citizens find themselves held indefinitely.

Once again a reminder from the past "first they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew. Then they came......"

Dear BuzzFlash,

Subj: FLASHBACK-Second Presidential Debate

BUSH: No, I — we got one in Texas, and guess what? The three men who murdered James Byrd, guess what’s going to happen to them? They’re going to be put to death. A jury found them guilty and I — it’s going to be hard to punish them any worse after they get put to death. And it’s the right cost; it’s the right decision.

And secondly, there is other forms of racial profiling that goes on in America. Arab-Americans are racially profiled in what’s called secret evidence. People are stopped, and we got to do something about that. My friend, Senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan, is pushing a law to make sure that, you know, Arab-Americans are treated with respect.

So racial profiling isn't just an issue at the local police forces. It’s an issue throughout our society. And as we become a diverse society, we’re going to have to deal with it more and more.

I believe though — I believe, sure as I’m sitting here, that most Americans really care. They’re tolerant people. They’re good, tolerant people. It’s the very few that create most of the crisis. And we just happen to have to find them and deal with them.

Dear BuzzFlash,

Looks like the GHP schtick about "tort reform" is just another facade. Bob Barr (with the help of Larry Klayman) has filed suit against Larry Flynt, James Carville, and the Big Dog, claiming that those 3 caused "loss of reputation and emotional distress" and "injury in his person and property" during the impeachment fiasco a couple years ago.

What a whiny little punk Bob Barr is.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A43164-2002Jun13.html

Excerpt:

We never realized that that Rep. Bob Barr -- the Georgia Republican who so despised Bill Clinton that he demanded his impeachment before the Monica Lewinsky scandal -- was such a delicate hothouse flower. Well, it turns out that Barr was deeply hurt by all those slings and arrows during his 1998 ordeal as a Republican impeachment manager.

Barr was so wounded, in fact, that he has filed suit in a Washington federal court against the former president, Clinton loyalist James Carville and politically active pornographer Larry Flynt seeking compensatory damages "in excess of $30 million" for "loss of reputation and emotional distress" and "injury in his person and property" allegedly caused by these three -- who Barr claims conspired to "hinder [the plaintiff] in the lawful discharge of his duties."

The announcer urged that Bush be greeted with a "thunderous" ovation."

Dear BuzzFlash,

Subj: Playing a little race card to their stupid white men constituency?

The last slide of the now infamous Rove powerpoint presentation has this:

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-Harlem) drew cheers when he hailed Clinton as "the last elected president of the U.S." and said, "It is our job to say we're not getting over Florida."

Did you notice they deliberately indicated "(D-Harlem)" after Rangel's name? The usual descriptive is "D-NY" since Congressman Rangel represents New York's 15th District. While I'm sure that the Congressman is proud to represent Harlem, it's not the only part of the city in his district. It would seem that the Rovians were more interested in using Harlem as a deliberate race card in this instance, don't you think? I would also love to know what the GOP speaker would have to say on this "talking point, " too, since Rangel was simply stating a fact.

R. Porrofatto

Dear BuzzFlash,

Subj: The Karl Rove presentation found on DC street corner

Maybe it's just me, but isn't this just a bit suspicious? Considering how fanatically tightlipped and secretive the Bush Administration is, what are the chances that one of their own would "accidentally" leave something this sensitive on a street corner? My guess is this was planted as part of a bigger scheme, which will become known in time.

Paranoid? Maybe, but with good reason.
