The media and the freeper sites (Drudge) will do all they can to keep Bush from looking like the idiot he really is.
The Washington Post and the Drudge Page have headlined that the Bush said: Raise taxes: "over my dead body." In fact that is not what Bush said as he murdered a platitude. He actually said, "not over my dead body will they raise taxes." The media prints the headlines the way they want people to believe Bush says things...just like the translations of the Osama tapes. This administration and the complicit media will lie, cheat, and steal to make this appointed President look good. Bush is also being deceitful when he says that Democrats are asking to raise taxes when they say they want to postpone scheduled tax cuts. This dishonesty is so blatant that it is sickening!

I just saw a promo for 48 Hours on Friday January 11th and it looks like Vanessa Legget will be on. I tried to check the CBS website but they have not yet posted next week's shows.
When DUBYA made the statement about raising taxes.......He said "NOT over my dead body......Is this anything like a double negative? Does it mean that.....They will be raised then "OVER his DEAD BODY? Did anyone else take this the same way? He has me confused again?
I just received an email asking for my vote on a question concerning Daschle. It really made me sick to see the response and how many votes are against Daschle. The percentages are as follows:
It seems most people are in favor of the Republican stimulus plan. I know there are many in favor of the Democrat package, but according to Vote.com, we are definitely the minority. I would like to see everyone get over there to that site and vote in favor of Daschle. We all need to make our voices heard, loud and clear!

Re: "Investigating Enron" 1/6/02
Excerpt: "The truth is that Enron showered money on many politicians of both parties, and especially on Texans. If Democrats are outraged by this, they should push for campaign finance reform rather than attacking the administration."
YOU MUST BE JOKING, RIGHT?
The many, many, former Enron executives who are now running our government and our military should be of no concern? George Bush's UNDISPUTED political and financial connections to Kenneth Lay and Enron, and all the HORROR that has been perpetuated on Enron's employees and investors should be of no concern? Wendy Gramm's payment of $915,000 to $1.85 million by Enron, after leaving her government job as chairperson of a regulatory committee overseeing Enron's business activities, and then immediately joining Enron's Board of Directors should be of no concern? The looting of California's taxpayers by Enron's price- gouging with the Bush administration refusing to intervene, should be of no concern?
"If Democrats are outraged by this, they should push for campaign finance reform rather than attacking the administration."
God, if you had only been so "delicate" in your treatment of Bill Clinton as you are now in your treatment of George W. Bush. Your journalistic hypocrisy is a national disgrace!

Here is some info I've picked up. It appears that, as pertains to the copyright infringement suit brought against FR/Jim Robinson by LA Times/Washington Post, the 9th District Circuit Court of Appeals will be ruling against FreeRepublic.com, having already lost two lower court rulings, a mediation request, and a request for certiorari from the Supreme Court [FR's last-ditch case is CALENDARED: PASA Feb 11 2002 1:30 pm Courtroom 1 [00-57211] (aw)]; more critically, the California Bar has, on September 1, 2001 for "MCLE violation," suspended the license of Brian Buckley, erstwhile FreeRepublic.com attorney for the copyright infringement case.
When a viewer called into C-SPAN January 4 to speak with Andrea Mitchell, they asked why the press is not covering the Saudi Arabia -Carlye - Bush - Bin Laden family connection. I nearly fell over when she stated that she covered the story "extensively" (oh please) but took "a great deal of heat for it." When asked by who she said, "The Saudis and people in the administration." If that's not troubling enough, she then admitted to backing off the story. Gee, Andrea, maybe those people calling in beforehand questioning your conservative bias and cheerleading for the resident had a point!
I also happened to witness Jeff Greenfield interview Phil Graham. Greenie failed to ask ONE question regarding the conflict of interest between Graham, his wife, and Enron. It was rolling over at its worst!!
PLEASE, we need Gloria to return to her post. I can't stand another minute of these friggin "journalists." Maybe if enough of us complain and tune out, the cable news programs will get a clue. Or maybe Ted Turner will save us with a liberal station. There is God, you know. After all, I did find BuzzFlash.

RE: "Bush: Tax Increases 'Over My Dead Body'"
Amazing. Just simply amazing. What will he think up next?
Do you think I'll get a visit from Ashcroft and Co. for wanting a repeal of Bush's tax cut? I mean, in this McCarthy-like environment, one could make the case that merely by desiring a repeal of Bush's enrich-the-rich tax cut (which is what Bush really means when he says "increasing taxes"), one must therefore desire Dingbush's demise.
I'm flabbergasted by the Republican's gaul and Bush's stupidity. Am I missing something? What do people see in Bush?
Ya know, just this week I read in the news how a woman was run over by three cars (really, I'm not making this up, see the link below). That's not the worst part. The third car actually stopped. However, they stopped on top of the woman and passers-by rifled through her purse, wallet and backpack, stealing from her as she lay dying (or dead) on the ground.
Bush and the Republicans are doing to the American people what those passersby did to Lynette Spinner -- while pinned down from the shock of the terrorist attacks, Bush and his friends are picking our pockets.
Can somebody send an ambulance?

Subj: Another media rollover
Did you notice that Bush screwed up his "dead body" line by beginning it with "not"? And his amen chorus in the media dutifully highlighted what he meant to say, rather than the complete sentence that he said.
Edmund D. Tobin
"not over my dead body' would I ever consider voting Republican. They are the most arrogant, rudest, smug, meanest people on the planet earth. He's riding high now, and because of Afghanistan we have been warned by Ari Fleisher to watch what we say. The press is scared to death to criticize him for fear of being accused of being unpatriotic and fear of their corporate owners. As Laurel would say, "a fine mess you've got us into this time. Ollie" He loves his "Prairie Chapel Ranch" so much, I wish he would stay there and keep "clearing brush."
Keep it up, Buzz, we love what you do.

Just checked out the GOP Team Leader site. Looks like a political Ponzi scheme to me.
In order to get a "Team Leader" hat and picture of the president you have to recruit 10 other Team Leaders.

Thanks for your site,
I have great admiration for Bill Moyers. He has always told it like it really is. Since the days of the Iran/Contra scandal in which many active in the Administration of the current resident of the White House were deeply involved which has led this derelict administration in it's coverup and denial of records, Bill Moyers was always on the side of being open and above board about the criminal acts of some individuals in the highest billets of government. Bill is absolutely right on about we individuals retain faith in our democracy.

Demand Congress REPEAL the tax cut to SAVE social security
PASS THIS ON IF YOU WISH. Speak out against any further tax cuts for the rich and DEMAND Congress repeal the tax cut for the rich that threatens to dismantle social security and drains education, health care and other vital social programs. Email local and national papers, email and call Congress at (202) 224-3121 http://www.mailblasterdot.com.
Senator Daschle's economic plan deserves wide public support, with ONE exception! American citizens MUST zealously and determinedly call for REPEAL of the outrageous tax cuts, one that Daschle himself AGREES has set us up for an economic disaster.
The explicit purpose of the tax cut for rich was part of the plan to dismantle social security, something radical conservatives have been trying to do for decades. Likewise, the explicit purpose of Bush so-called economic plan, which supports tax cuts for the rich omitted in the first round, is to finalize the destruction of social security.
Does it make sense that Congress must raise the federal debt ceiling in order for the government to keep operating just to grant tax cuts to the top 1% population, all of whom are Bush election supporters? NOT! We must demand Congress do what they must, repeal the tax cut!
It's time to call for end to radical conservative scheme to dismantle social security, social programs and public education. Its time to expose their supremacist schemes of destroying the middle class.
It's time to call for end of government programs, like COINTELPRO, that have effectively dismantled civil and human rights and peace activist groups. It is an aim to cut out citizens participation from government, and it is unconstitutional.
It's time Democrats admit they made mistakes in supporting ANY tax cut to begin with, engaging in political competitions rather than protecting our economy and people.

I wrote a note to President Clinton expressing my sympathy on his loss and would encourage others to do the same -- being the animal lover I am, I know just how deeply he must be hurting and as usual, many have added insults to his injury. He seems to be a very emotional person so a little support may be very appreciated.
Honorable William Jefferson Clinton
I am sick of hearing over and over ad-nauseum about Bush's poll numbers. When are these puppets going to wake up and realize that the numbers are a reflection of American Patriotism, not as they are perpetrating a recommendation of Bush. I doubt that he can even pronounce the names of some of the coalition members much less know who they are and where they are from. This is the same guy that stole the election, and arrogantly prances around alluding to having won. He can only spout rhetoric about "caves and smoking em out" because that's what he identifies with--excuse me it was a "secured area" he flew to in Nebraska. I would guess though he knows about running and hiding!!!

Before you criticize Tom Daschle, look at the facts.
If you compare the economy now with Clinton's 8 years, and look what W has done... nothing but gone backwards. The country is in the worst financial shape since his dad was in office. Why did W want to change so much of what Clinton did?
surplus is gone.
Go Enron - what great company and great former employees to have on your energy board as well as his cabinet.... very trustworthy.. NOT
Hopefully someday Bush will work with the Democrats on this issue and some of the others. This is the only way this country will get out of this mess. Our country has the greatest version of democracy in the world. People with different views working together is what made our country great.
Since the Democrats have had much better success in recent years with the economy, W much better off if he would actually compromise on the issues, rather than having a temper tantrum and changing the rules when someone doesn't agree with him.
That's my 2 cents.

Subj: Interesting info on Peter Roff...
He used to be a shill for GOPAC, as you already know.
Here is a lively exchange from Conwebwatch...
Here's a pre-9/11 article co-written by Roff, which criticizes Bush's foreign policy team, including some surprising statements about John Negroponte:
Blame-and-Bash-Clinton mentality is standard fare in today's consolidated corporate right-wing media. However, there are a few facts the partisans conveniently fail to mention.
First, and most important, the worst terrorist attacks in our nation's history occurred during George W. Bush's occupation of the White House--after he had been in office for the better part of a year. Despite repeated warnings from Israel's Mossad and intelligence agencies from Egypt and Jordan weeks before the attacks, as well as urgent warnings early last spring from the Hart-Rudman commission, our current leader did absolutely nothing to prevent them. In fact, while the terrorists were plotting the final details of the attacks, George W. Bush dismissed the warnings, assigned the matter to Dick Cheney for "more study" and spent the entire month of August on fundraising junkets and on vacation at his Texas ranch while Cheney vacationed in Wyoming and Colorado.
The Clinton administration's 1996 and 1998 anti-terrorism bills were gutted by congressional Republicans who were far more interested in causing distractions and in bringing down the presidency than in protecting our country from terrorist attacks. They played the dirtiest of politics and weakened the country in the process.
Clinton signed an order to kill Osama bin Laden in 1998. Clinton also launched cruise missile attacks on Sudan and Afghanistan, missing bin Laden by only a few hours. Instead of praising Clinton for trying to eradicate bin Laden, Republicans called the attacks on the Sudan and Afghanistan "wagging the dog." Never mind that the film "Wag the Dog" was written about the George H.W. Bush Gulf War and the bogus PR campaign of lies that was used to sell the American public on supporting the war. Reagan's and Bush's Ambassador to Bahrain, Sam Zakhem, was charged with income tax evasion and failure to register as a foreign agent for the part he played in raising those funds. This of course did not stop Zakhem from fundraising in the Mideast for the George W. Bush presidential campaign in late 1999.
From the Bush campaign in 2000 we heard again and again about how the Clinton administration had supposedly decimated the armed forces, and that they were unprepared to fight for our country. The attack on the Cole occurred almost immediately after Bush started making irresponsible campaign speeches about how "decimated" our military force is.
The Bush plan to increase military spending had not gone into effect at the time of the attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., yet we have been able to quite effectively and successfully wage war in Afghanistan--and in a much more timely manner than when we prepared for the Gulf War. Unprepared? Low morale? There is no evidence of it now nor was there in 2000.
The military took a quantum leap under Clinton. While "smart bombs" were available during the Gulf War, 98% of all bombs were still dumb, and the targeting system was still largely inaccurate. In Afghanistan, most bombs were smart. What does that mean? It means a plane can hit its target from 40,000 feet where anti-aircraft weapons can't reach it. Even our stockpile of dumb bombs were retrofitted to the newer technology. One has to wonder how much more progress could have been made if Clinton had not had to deal with an obstructionist partisan Congress.
Republicans and the consolidated corporate right-wing media were busy prying into the sordid details of Clinton's private life under the guise of a Whitewater investigation while Clinton was busy trying to find bin Laden. What kind of integrity does the American media have for "reporting" (I use that word loosely) on nothing but Clinton's private sex life for two years while ignoring substantial evidence that terrorists were plotting to kill thousands of us? What kind of integrity did the Republican-controlled Congress have when they ignored national security to consume themselves with a petty partisan witch hunt? Shame on them all.
In the absence of an atrocity like Sept. 11, the American people, Congress, and the international community -- including the Europeans -- would not have supported a full-scale attack on Afghanistan. Nothing demonstrates this so graphically as the refusal by the Republican-controlled Congress to support the administration's attempts to eliminate al Quaeda and bin Laden, or to fund or support the Clinton administration's anti-terrorism legislation.
Clinton-bashers are so consumed by their hatred that they will not acknowledge the eight years of prosperity our nation enjoyed, his unprecedented success with the deficit, and his monumental contributions to peacekeeping efforts in the Mideast, Africa, Bosnia and Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, Bush's biggest campaign contributors from Enron met secretly and illegally with Dick Cheney to mold federal energy policy and are enjoying quid pro quo political appointments to the Bush administration despite having scandalously bilked the public--consumers in California and deceived investors alike. Bush has not been held accountable for his more than 1 1/2 years of AWOL from the Texas Air National Guard, his lies about his arrest record, lies about his insider trading, lies by omission about his drug use, or his apparent perjury in his testimony about his involvement in the Texas Funeralgate lawsuit. Indeed, rather than hold the Saudis responsible for their complicity in funding al Quaeda, Bush arranged to have bin Laden's brothers safely and quickly escorted out of the country--no doubt repaying them for their family's generous investments in his failed oil company. Lucky for Bush that the Independent Prosecutor law expired.
I made the mistake of turning to CNBC. Lawrence Kudlow(sp) monitoring with some idiot who claims to be a democrat. Anne Coulter was on, as well as the only decent person, Julian Epstein.
They were seriously blaming President Clinton for the World Trade Center attacks. I quickly turned it off as they were drowning out Mr. Epstein.
There is nothing but trash on these so called news shows.
Daniel R. Spencer
I watch CNBC profit from it every day during the market trading hours and I get very frustrated when they stop their regular programming every time to televise every Bush speech, witness today's picture hanging in Austin.
I was waiting to listen to Daschle economic speech and MSNBC, CNBC and FOX did not cover it, MSNBC had Chuck Grassley criticizing Daschle as he was speaking and the other stations did not even cover it. I had to go to CNN to listen part of the speech, it is disgraceful that they televise every Bush innocuous speech and a very important economic speech is ignored by all the stations.
[BuzzFlash Note: We were sickened the CNN "blurbs" posted under Daschle during his speech and that they quit broadcasting it before he was finished. We caught the rest of the speech, without CNN's partisan rhetoric, on CNBC.]

Was just reading Jerry Falwell's Comparing Christians to the Taliban and came to: "It is quite clear that the Democrats have been taken aback by President Bush's acumen." And I fell out laughing.
Of course the rest of the article was too disgusting to finish reading.
I also laughed out loud at the Russian article where the Moscow big cheese think that the Bush Gang is "dizzy with success" and will want to go on alone.

Acumen, yeah, right.
Here's the text of a letter I sent to the Philly Inquirer after reading that hideous editorial written by Julia Gorin:
Click Here: Let peace begin with us in new year
I sent a thank you e-mail to Helen Thomas for her editorial about peace for the world in 2002. She e-mailed me back to say that never in all of her years of covering the White House did a president's New Year's message to the country not be one of a call for peace. Bush's message was, "2002 will be a year of war."
Ms. Thomas' e-mail address is at the bottom of her editorial. Ask your readers to write her a thank you for her courage in asking the tough questions at the White House press conferences and writing editorials such as this one. She is truly a national treasure.
Dear Mr. Winslow:
RE: Bush's Enron Ties, By Edward Winslow, (AlterNet.org)
The pressure is on to sweep this national scandal under the rug. With the Bush loving corporate interests owning the mainstream media, I fear most Americans will hear very little of this story.
I'll do my small part by writing letters to every politician I can think of. I used to write to the brain-dead talking heads on TV but finally realized what a waste of time that was! The weak and spineless politicians may be no better but I'll continue to write to them as well as the newspaper editors. Maybe if the public outrage continues to grow, they'll be forced to respond.
Anyway, thanks for your writing and keep up the good work.
