Note: The words "temporary" and "pre-election" were inserted, not by the article's author. J. Simon Subject: Novak Names Names Boy! What a freakin' mess this entire Plamegate episode has turned into. At the very least, we now know what many of us have suspected from the very beginning of this particular debacle: 1. Rove was involved. All of this points to an even bigger problem that threatens our national security. First of all, it is now clear that even though Novak was advised against naming Plame overtly, by no less than a CIA spokesperson, he chose to do it. So, in his quest for attention, scooping the news or whatever, it is clear that there was no regard whatsoever by the Bushistas for information that could be detrimental to this country and to CIA NOCs. What still is NOT clear is just exactly WHO at CIA Directorate of Operations initially turned over Plame's identity to ANYONE who had no need to know this highly sensitive real-world intelligence information. Now, I have to admit that I don't have nearly the type of "pedigree" that these "highly educated" grand high poobahs do, nor do I have that kind of money or political power. However, what I do have is a strong moral compass and set of values and sense of ethics that I have chosen to lead my life by. All of these characteristics tells me that no matter whether the "leakers" didn't know or didn't think Plame was covert, sharing this information was just plain wrong. It should have NEVER happened. Anyone with a security clearance (at least through the military) knows that you just don't run your mouth about anything relating to national security to any Bob, Karl or Scooter who comes along. It is beyond comprehension that any one of these Bush sychophants will try any spin they think might justify their actions. It is disgraceful and reprehensible. Every single one of them should be behind bars for life doing hard labor. Better yet, let's close Gitmo immediately, send all the detainees back to their country of origin, and ship the gang of fools that are part of this administration to Gitmo and leave them there for the rest of their natural lives. Lisa Johnson Subject: Lie-berman, Schumer and DSCC Called Schumer's office this morning and they gave me the DSCC phone number. I did ask Schumer's staff member if Schumer would support Lamont if he is the Democratic Senatorial candidate from Connecticut after the Primary. He responded that Schumer would NOT state at this time as he could not make a commitment for a "hypothetical" situation. Made a call to the DSCC and they said they are supporting Lie-berman and have no comment about Lamont as the candidate in the Fall Senate election. I wasn't asking them to support Lamont in the primary, only if they'd support the Democratic candidate in November if it WAS Lamont. These gutless "Democrats" (as they are not, apparently "small 'd'" democrats) are the reason that the Repugs may continue to hold the House and Senate. They are completely mis-reading the mood of the country, let alone the mood of, what I think are, mainstream Democrats. Call these people as BuzzFlash suggested. They need to understand things outside the beltway are not what is being discussed in their Senate/House cloakrooms and that they are at-risk in their next election. Mtn Metis Subject: What Changed on 9/11 You claimed: We were hijacked twice on 9/11 – once by terrorists, and once by our own one-party Republican government which has shamelessly used a horrible incident for a partisan thuggish suppression of our Constitutional rights. I say: The 'terrorists' that attacked us on that day and the one-party Republican government are one and the same! Thorpe Subject: Gay Marriage With gay marriage gaining acceptance in other parts of the world like Canada, Spain and Great Britain, this country looks woefully out of touch with reality. I'm pretty sure that in the very near future, homosexuals will be able to get married in most of the countries of the world. How stupid and ridiculous will the United States look if we continue to allow these homophobic bigots to embarrass this country by continuing to live in the dark ages and refusing to change with the times? Right-wingers have always hated the idea of change and progress. If they had their way, we would all still be living in the 1940s or 1950s! We cannot allow these stupid, backward conservatives to keep America stuck in a time warp just because they feel so very threatened by homosexuals having the same rights that they have. Shirley D. Jackson Subject: Latest on Medicare I just read the newest on the government's destruction of people over the age of 65. It seems our medicare premiums are to go up a whopping 11+ percent and doctors are going to get something like 4+ percent less for treating us old bats. Now together with the Plan D fiasco (who can afford top dollar after $2250?) and higher and higher and higher drug costs, it seems we haven't got much longer to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ... excuse me I'm getting hysterical! Instead of us dying of starvation and homelessness, they could put us out to sea on ice floes. But with all the global warming there probably are no floes. Ah, hell, just shoot us! Marilyn Subject: What Happened on 911? I am just now getting around to catching up. Have been out of circulation for a few days for a funeral. Your headline...above, pretty much tied it up. It was not so much what happened...it is what happened as a result. Anyone who doubts it...all you have to do is get the documentary, "Hijacking Catastrophe"...pretty much the same as the BuzzFlash headline. (They have used it to death...and will again)! It is disgusting and morally reprehensible, what the Bush bunch have done with that...and how many times...they are going to USE if from now on. To R.G. Johnson...7/11...Mailbag...I think if George Bush got the same treatment that Jefferson and any congressman or senator got...it might seem a little fairer...at least to me. He would not testify at the 911 hearings...Just think, poor Bill Clinton could have saved the country a lot of pain, had he claimed Executive Privilege...with the hearing on whatever the hell it was that got him impeached...what a joke, now! Bush and his bunch...have refused materials requested for the 911 hearings...and every other hearing of importance since 911...If I were a republican...I have enough common sense to know that I would never be again. There is a bad taste in the mouth of every moral person in America who followed this man. You hear it every morning on Washington Journal...the ones who realize (especially the ones who crossed over after Clinton) will let anyone know, that they are so sorry they voted for this jerk..many of them expressing it that way! Then there are those who will never, ever admit being wrong...those are the ones I deal with in my family. It is hard...because they are too embarrassed to even listen to a speech or watch the news...but, they will defend to the end this piece of human flotsam! Shirley ... St. Louis Subject: BuzzFlash Takes a Break from Doom And Gloom: Two Signs of Hope. -- A BuzzFlash News Analysis Re: your July 9th News analysis. BuzzFlash is my favorite source. Has been since 2001 when I came online. But, you guys got it wrong on 9 July 2006. I am surprised that you could be soooo naive. Don't you guys read your own articles?! Here's the deal: The Bad Guys Won. The Busheviks ain't never gonna' give up their power --NEVER GIVE IT UP. It's gonna' hafta be taken from 'em. "The Fix Is In." The mean hate-filled murderous thugs are in charge. (PERIOD). Like ol' HS Thompson said, "BIG DARKNESS SOON COME." He wrote that in 2004. Seems to this writer that it's already here. So, what 'cha' gonna' do 'bout it?? JD Thompson Subject: The Powers That Be Are Afraid of Us Bloggers Those of us who are against them, that is. Why else would they be bearing down on us so hard? Remember, first they ignore you, then they attack you and finally they join you? We're half way there already. Yeah, whatever we're doing, it's working. Another world is now in sight. Damn these politicos and full speed ahead. A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: Buzzflash Editorial on 9/11 Dear Sir/Madam, I respectfully agree with most of the sentiments you express in your latest editorial but take issue with one point. In your 6th paragraph you refer to the hijackers taking control of the planes because of the laxness of airport security etc. This claim begs a number of questions. There is serious doubt as to whether there were in fact any 'hijackers'. There is even greater doubt that the planes were taken over by any of the passengers. There can certainly be no doubt that the reasons WTC 1, 2 & 7 came down had nothing to do in a causal sense with the planes crashing into them. And no, I am not some tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist or any other pejorative term you may wish to dream up. I rely on the scientific evidence as set out by people such as Steven Jones and Judy Wood. If you are not familiar with their work then it is long past the time when you were. You are absolutely correct in that the events of September 11 2001 were used to hijack American democracy. The view that I take is the one espoused by Webster Tarpley: that it is by exposing the truth of what happened on 9/11 that you get the biggest bang for your buck. Kind regards, James O'Neill [BuzzFlash Note: We have yet to see any compelling evidence that the Bush administration had the wherewithal to pull off such a plot with split-second precision and effectiveness.] Subject: Truth About US National Debt TO ALL: The American public is being fed half truths about the US National Debt by past and present administrations, both sides of Congress and Media. Why? Wanting to look good, hidden agenda, or they don't have a clue? The information is available, by going to "US National Debt Clock" on Search of your computer. This E-mail is not a "Letter to the Editor", as it is too long. It is to be used as you see fit to educate the public. Truth about the US National Debt (As of July 10, 2006) By 1980 ... our national debt reached $930 Billion. Under the Reagan & Bush Administration it increased to $4.2 Trillion, an increase of 450% in 12 short years. Under the Clinton Administration of eight years, it increased $1.5 Trillion to $5.7 Trillion. Under five and a half years of the present Bush Administration it increased $2.7 Trillion to $8.4 Trillion. The last year we had a balanced budget, with surplus, was 1960 when the debt was reduced $581 Million. The last full year of the Clinton Administration, it increase $18 Billion at $50 Million a day. The present increase is an average of $1.71 Billion a day. At this rate, the deficit for FY 2006 will be $624 Billion, 35 times higher than Clinton's last year. Interest on the national debt for FY 2003, 2004, & 2005 is a total of $991 Billion. It will probably run over a $Billion a day for FY 2006. This is all wasted money. A breakdown on the National Debt follows: Total National Debt: $8 Trillion,
$417 Billion When the Administration, Congress or Media indicates Social Security is solvent to 2042, they forget to add, "Provided we pay the IOUs," which is now $1 Trillion, $950 Billion. This will continue increasing with Congress using future trust funds surpluses as General Purpose Funds. Congress indicates by 2018 Social Security Funds incoming will equal outgoing. Alan Greenspan recently indicated, due to the sliding US Dollar and high deficit spending, this could be as early as 2008. Regardless, when this happens, Congress must honor these IOUs to keep the program solvent. How will they raise the money? On 16 March, 2006, 53 Senators (Democrats, Republicans & one Independent) voted to keep using surplus Social Security Funds as General Purpose Funds, continuing to write IOUs. The Administration, Congress and Media quite frequently indicate deficit spending is in the $300 Billion range. They are not adding in the IOUs written on all the trust funds. Congress owes $3 Trillion, $509 Billion to these trust funds which are increasing daily. Respectfully, Colonel Colin J. N. Chauret, Subject: Immigration I would like to question why you guys apparently are supporting the current massive wave of immigration from Mexico. I think that Democrats as well as yourselves are taking the wrong side on this issue. Sure we support the needy but this is not the way to do it. Any support for the massive wave of immigration is support for big business and a move against American labor, which is also a supporter of the Democratic party. Supporting large scale immigration is to attack labor, period. You are helping to hold labor down and give business more power - and I don't care what Clinton says, he's been on the wrong side of this issue ever since NAFTA, which was another move on the side of big business. Ultimately support for large scale immigration hurts the Mexicans as much as it does the Americans as it lowers wages. Look at the big picture, you are doing what they want you to do. Thank you. A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: (Sent to mainstream corporate media) Columnist Robert Novak said publicly for the first time Tuesday that White House political adviser Karl Rove was a source for his story outing the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame. I am very sure I saw Bush a long time ago say if anyone on his staff had anything to do with this Plame outing, that person would be fired. Is he going to fire Rove? A BuzzFlash Reader [BuzzFlash Note: Wikipedia has compiled the administration's pledges in their entry, "Plame Affair." Bush and his spokespersons dissembled and back pedaled as events unfolded.] Subject: Karl Rove Now that Novak has finally announced that Rove was his leaker (what a non-event), on the Plame case, does anyone know how the White House fascists managed to stop Fitzgerald from charging evil baby Rove? We know they did, just curious about the details. Edith M. Conrad Subject: Time To Dump the Clintons There is no hope for a comprehensive health care plan if Hillary is elected President. She is now on the take big time! She is second on the list of those receiving campaign contributions from the health care insurance companies. This coupled with her stand on the war in Iraq makes her unfit for the Democratic nomination for President. Meanwhile Bill has been giving advice to Dubai on how to take over American ports. He hobnobs with Bush Sr. and supports the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill. Wonder why? Could it have something to do with the fact that Tyson employs immigrants in its meat packing plant, and Tyson gave big bucks to Clinton's election campaigns? Or, how about Hillary once being on the board of Wal-Mart? We have another 'Lieberman' 'Zell Miller' traitor here, and it is time to stop her from getting the nomination. If you thought the trade deals negotiated by Bill were bad, just give Hillary a chance. Bob N. Subject: The Disrespect of America I'll keep this as simple as I can ... I am Canadian. Our new Prime Minister is proving to be our nation's version of George W. Bush. He's religiously fanatical, militaristic and thrives on the fear of Canadians. The Bush/Rove mentality and its strategies have crept into the Great Canadian Mosaic. But that's not why I'm writing. The level of disrespect shown by your US presidents towards our Prime Ministers has tradionally been appalling. Lyndon Johnson slammed Prime Minister Lester B. (Mike) Pearson against a wall. Nixon called one of the greatest world leaders of all time, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, an "arrogant bastard," because Trudeau visited China before Nixon could. GWB called Jean Chretien (the man that both Tony Blair and Bill Clinton summoned to teach them about managing successful federal social programs -- a man who held no less than 9 cabinet postings from Minister of Finance to Minister of Justice -- a man who ran surplus after surplus, a man who ran our country deficit free, a man who all G8 countries looked at with respect for being the only world leader to accomplish such a feat) as,"DINO," like the cartoon dinosaur -- and now he refers to our now and supremely boneheaded Prime Minister Stephen Harper as "Steve." Are you kidding me?! Are Americans okay with this?! What a government full of dolts! When Carolyn Parrish, a Canadian politician, referred to you as "Americans .. I hate those bastards," we were up in arms. When Jean Chretien's personal assistant referred to GWB as "an idiot" at a G8 conference, your media went nuts and so too did ours. (Ultimately the assistant was proven right and Carolyn Parrish as it turns out wasn't far off the mark either.) Did either person lose their job? No. Eventually both left politics, but for different reasons. The fact is: Neither person that made such off colour references were world leaders. They were nobodies. When the so-called leader of the free world refers to Putin as: "Pooty Poot," you should be disgusted. Not because it's wrong but because GWB doesn't have the guts to say it to anyone's face. When you look at Canadians and our politicians, understand who we are in North America. Canada is the voice of reason. Believe it or not, we're the ones keeping things sane. We are the only social conscience. Living next to a giant can be precarious at best, but understand that while we are susceptible to every "twitch and grunt" that America makes ... like an elephant is frightened of the mouse, so too should your politicians fear the moral authority that Canada holds throughout the world. We all understand now that America doesn't like us. We're fine with it. In fact we prefer it. Most Canadians don't want relations with America to get better. Why? Because we know that we're next on the American invasion list. Give it 30-40 years and you'll be lobbing bombs into Toronto in a bid for our water, oil and wheat. We're not fools. Your government cheats on NAFTA and we follow the rules. Why? Because we're honourable. If most Canadians were like Americans we'd be knocking you over in our streets and running you off our roads ... Why? Because your nation is incredibly disrespectful. Your government judges us for not going into Iraq but the world respects us for not bending to your ridiculous whims. We don't care any more. I'm going on the record today by saying: "America is wasted on Americans." You've pissed your nation away for the sake of "the hayseed, the churchgoer and the bigot." Your citzens don't deserve the land your country is built on because you have neither safety nor freedom and are willing to defend neither. When the war in Iraq is finally lost, I hope to hell that America will be forced by the rest of the world to wear a very short leash. As citizens, you should all be ashamed. The next time you vote for a President, you may want to consider voting for someone who has actual international experience rather than voting for a person who has a working vocabulary of less than 800 or so words. I hope to hell you guys wake up. Your votes should make only one statement this fall ... "Anything else is better than what we have now." Good luck. Brian Subject: Being Ruled By Idiots It’s bad enough that out leadership is comprised of evil folks. They seize all this power and then don’t have the faintest idea what to do with it. They create chaos and then run around in circles with no idea what to do next. They’re like Snidely Whiplash continually being defeated by a moron like Dudley Do-Right. The Pinhead in the White House gets enormous power into his inept little paws and then doesn’t know what to do with it. It is bad enough when evil stalks the land. It is absolutely terrifying when the evil people are stupid. You heard of the Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight? Well this is the Gang that Can’t. Period. They start things and when it all hits the fan they have no idea what to do next. Plan B, what plan B? Conservatives are supposed to be fiscally responsible. Yet this bunch not only spends a surplus into a deficit, they also have a bad habit of losing money. You know, like the billions they seem to have mislaid in Iraq. Most crooks can remember where they put the swag. Not this bunch of dimwits. How about no-bid contracts with little to show for all that money? Then they paid all kinds of phony claims after Katrina. 1.4 billion of disaster relief meant for the victims of Hurricane Katrina was spent on Football tickets, vacations, a divorce lawyer, a sex change operation and other nonsense. FEMA rides again. The Agency acknowledges some mistakes but says it has only found evidence of fraud worth $16 million. Well, that’s all right then. Course if their bookkeeping is as competent as everything else they do, it might be that they are wrong about that too. Pity the poor folks who just wanted a regular fella in the White House. None of those dang elitist east coast folks. You know, like the PEOPLE THAT STARTED THIS COUNTRY, YOU INCREDIBLE MORONS!!! Sorry, didn’t mean to yell. East Coast Elitists like Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, etc. etc. etc. I have to go lie down now. Tracking the stupidity of these people gives me a headache. Here’s a link to the signers of the Declaration of Independence http://www.colonialhall.com/biodoi.asp Marjorie L. Swanson Subject: Draft Gore Reactivated; Circulating Petition Draft Gore Announces Petition for Candidacy July 2006: A Message to All Patriotic Americans Dear Fellow Citizens: Draft Gore was established in 2001 to right a wrong that in retrospect seems monumentally simplistic: the wrong candidate – the losing candidate – was installed to the highest office in the land in January of 2001. We believed the Supreme Court majority decision was politically motivated. We still believe it. But we never anticipated the widespread effects of this administration’s extraordinary assault upon our Constitutional principles. Along with the rest of the country, we witnessed an accelerated turn toward the dark and soulless side of humanity. Crime and corruption at the highest levels of government. The willful debasement of our ethical code. The concentration of power and wealth in the hands of the few at the expense of the many. Erosion of free speech and a muzzled press. The cavalier destruction of our society – and of our world. In short, we have watched in horror as an endless cloud of dissension, war, poverty, ignorance, fear and uncertainty has descended over the past six years. During this time, one clear truth has emerged above all others: There is a leader who stands untarnished by political expedience. A leader who can shepherd us out of an unholy nightmare and back onto the path to constructive statesmanship. A leader with the ability and the conscience to relight the world’s beacon of freedom. Al Gore is that leader. Draft Gore respects the former Vice President’s statements that he has no plans to run. We hold him in high esteem for his many remarkable achievements as a private citizen, not the least of which are his voice as the national conscience and his effort to save the planet itself. We also believe that Al Gore’s true calling is at the helm of our nation. Only then can he put the full power of his ideas for a better America to work. By this petition, we are pleading with him to run for the Presidency of the United States in 2008. We urge you to help us formalize the recent groundswell of public opinion by signing the petition and encouraging others to sign. Only by joining as one voice can we hope to influence this most crucial decision. Thank you. The Draft Gore 2008 Committee Subject: Bush in Germany Tonight Please America have MERCY!
