Subject: Mid Term Elections Now that the 2006 elections are approaching and bush is down in the polls the Republicans up for reelection are trying to distance themselves from him. For the past five years they’ve marched in partisan political lockstep with every immoral, illegal and unconstitutional act perpetrated by this unelected dictator as he systematically destroyed the very fabric of this country. The entire Republican Party has acted like a band of pirates as they looted, pillaged, raped and murdered their way across the political landscape. No act was despicable enough to these liars, thieves and robber barons to break party loyalty. Where are the leaders in the Democratic Party? Why aren’t they out there tying the political can to their Republican tails? If the so-called leaders of the Democratic Party allow any Republican to distance themselves from bush then the Democrats deserve to lose the mid term elections. Unfortunately if they do lose the mid terms we can all kiss America good bye. I don’t think very highly of the Democratic Party these days, I’ve always been an Independent and voted for who I thought was the best candidate regardless of party. For years I didn’t vote at all because I could not bring myself to simply vote for the lesser of two evils. As bad as the Democratic Party has become, though, I have voted a straight Democratic ticket, the first time I have ever voted a straight party ticket, in every election since 2000, because even though the Democrats are still simply the lesser of two evils, the degree of the difference in the evil is so overwhelming I could not sleep at night if I didn’t do something, anything to stop this nightmare. Cary Subject: I'm First For Frist!!! Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please let Bill Frist be the Republican nominee for president in 2008. And if not Frist, Gingrich will do. Let's all stop bashing Frist right now. Let's pretend to give him McCainsian-type approval. You know -- 'we don't like his stand on reproductive rights, but gosh he's just so cute and moderate!' Then when Frist is in, let's swiftboat him with the fury of a class 5 rapids. Except our swiftboating will consist of the truth. Cat-killin', video-diagnosin', iraquagmirin' truth. By '08 when no one can afford for-profit health care I doubt the guy depositing the checks is going to be real popular. Look up, sad and downtrodden liberals. It could be fun! Kristi Warriner Subject: Molly Ivins on the pretend Democrats, and leaving the USA Right on Molly Ivins. She said that Russ Feingold is the only decent Dem. Feingold is my favorite, too, but there are a few others I also admire. Enough of the D.C. Dems (Ivins/axisoflogic) Last two Presidential "elections" if there are some who believe in Santa and actual elections in the US instead of the reality of we've been Diebolded; I spent 18 hrs a day for two years writing a political book, doing all kinds of political activism, including working my heart out for John Kerry...then he just walked away. Here's the deal with me as a lifelong activist Democrat. Unless Feingold and Wes Clark are on a ticket together I'm not voting, not donating time or money. I am putting all my time and energy in moving out of the country. I do not want my feet on the same continent with a population, 50% of which are so divorced from their own humanity, intelligence, and sanity, that they would vote a second time for Hitler Part Deux. The rest of the world isn't that nuts. They all get what Bush Inc is. And all of us that fought against the illegal invasion of Iraq....knew it would come to this: An unwinnable civil war that drains capital from what this country really needs, divides us from the rest of the world, and from everything America stands for. I do not wish to live in a hologram of America. This is not only Bush's legacy, but also the legacy of the DC/DLC Demos that allowed it to happen. Amsterdam here I come. Unsigned, and ashamed to be an American Subject: President Election I am really tired of Clintons and Bushes in the White House. Isn't there someone else in a country of millions capable. Please find him. Dorothy Mangino Subject: Dubai Ports Deal This is a calculated attempt by the GOP majority in Congress to save their own skins. Since your Bush is done like dinner, it's time to let him slide off the sleigh. If the GOP members are perceived to be opposed to Bush, they may have a good chance being re-elected, thus keeping GOP control of Congress. No matter which GOP candidate becomes president. In 2008, the electronic vote counting may not be fixed, so whosoever programs the computers can control the outcome. A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: Week in Review: Bush War on Women Marches on Dear Buzz: As we all are aware, whatever the menacing Mr. Bush says - is a lie. Whatever he claims to do by way of helping women and children - he lies. Received the following today and further down the page is the mentioning of Mr. Bush's "war" on cutting essential programs/money that contribute to the health and welfare of women and children. I am not giving up - and choose to believe impeachment will be successful. http://www.democrats.org/a/2006/03/week_in_review_16.php Dolores M. Dryden Subject: Tim and Faith's Sounding Off About Bush i went to their message boards at Cmt.com, and out of about 300 messages...only one was negative for both. I don't think even Nashville cannot see straight. They have stopped with the Iraq anthems even though, like all of us, they respect the troops, but, one of the men stars, recently recorded a song titled, "Arlington" and it was beautiful, but, very sad. He was going straight up the charts...and he said, that his fans forced him to stop singing the song, with just their thought. They did not like it. Shirley.....St. Louis Subject: Port Deal--Will It Go to Carlyle Group? Today I heard on a new source (Bloomberg) that infrastructure matters in the U.S. will be considered by the Carlyle Group (in which supposedly the Bush family has a vested interest.) I looked up later what the Google Search Engine had to say about it, and, sure enough, there was a deal on March 10, 2006 which says that the Carlyle group is considering it and is going to investigate into the possibility of handling the infrastructure of the port systems and various other modes of transportation within the U.S. This is apparently the "entity" continually being talked about, but wouldn't be named in the media. Perhaps Halliburton may participate in some way, shape, or form, yet, I do not know. But if the Bush family had a vested interest in Dubai, somehow isn't it merely being transferred, whatever monies stand to be accrued in the deal? Is there ANY COMPANY the Bushes or Cheneys don't have a vested interest in the world that does not have ties to them in one way or the other? This is seeming to be like something out of the movie made about 25 years ago called "THE OMEN," where the character owns a worldwide company which controls much wealth of the world. Sometimes the technology of this century reminds me of something out of a Sidney Sheldon novel, and you can be anywhere, and you can be tracked down. Carlyle Group explores acquisition of port operations (Washington Business Journal) A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: More of the Same: Senate Committee Confirms MSHA & OSHA Nominees Foulke, Sticker Get Committee Approval to Head OSHA & MSHA Signaling that they think everything's just fine in America's mines and other workplaces, Republicans on the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions voted today to confirm Richard Stickler as Assistant Secretary of Labor for MSHA, and Edwin Foulke as Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA. I don't know what the vote-count was on Foulke, but Stickler's confirmation was approved along party lines, with all of the Republicans voting in favor, and the Democrats voting against. The United Mineworkers, the AFL-CIO and the Charleston Gazette all opposed Stickler's confirmation. The Mineworkers called the vote a "huge disappointment for all miners in America who are looking to their government to stand up for them instead of the coal companies." Senate Committee Gives Nod to OSHA, MSHA Nominees (occupationalhazards.com) Jordan Barab Subject: A Positive Ten Point Plan for Democrats Dear My Fellow Americans, I believe it is a truism that if the American people voted what they truly believed instead of falling for the propaganda and lies of the GOP and the right-wing corporate media, there would be no such thing as a Republican Party. Notwithstanding such, it is imperative that Democrats offer a clear cut plan that articulates the values that most Americans stand for. We don't need the Vichy Democrats (Lieberman, Nelson, Biden) out front, we need people with spine, clarity, and moral integrity. So here goes. 1. Keeping Americans safe. a) full funding for our ports, secured cockpits, massive upgrade on our subways and trains, pursuing Osama Bin Laden, getting out of Iraq by March 1, 2007, holding Saudi Arabia accountable, rebuilding alliances around the globe. b) Follow the facts not ideological wish lists. Talk strong on this issue and don't be afraid to link Republicans to Bin Laden, the Taliban, and other "evildoers." c) Point out how Democrats historically have done a better job preventing crime than Republicans. Then offer a detailed plan which puts the focus on the serious crime and stops wasting valuable resources on harmless wrongs like drug use. 2. Supporting our military a) pay upgrades, guaranteed health care for our troops, only spending what is necessary for defense ("necessary defense spending"), a new GI bill, increase Veteran's health care. 3. Standing up for Social Freedom a) Aggressively pursuing policies based on the premise that all people have the right to do as they please so long as their behavior does not pose a reasonable risk of harm to another non consenting person. This includes frank talk on abortion, contraception, and the like. Link any conservative who opposes these basic rights to the Taliban. b) This includes voting reform. We must aggressively offer a plan that automatically registers people to vote at age 18, eliminates computer voting, and counts the census accurately. 4. A Pro Middle Class Tax Code. a) You can't fix the domestic problems until you fix this problem. Thus, we must dramatically raise taxes on corporations and the top 1-2%. Simultaneously you will cut middle class taxes and fees. Make the payroll taxes progressive and eliminate the SS cap. When called a "tax raiser" you will counter by pointing out that Republicans have raised middle class taxes for 85 years and that you are cutting middle class taxes. 5) A USA First Trade Policy a) Pull out of NAFTA, CAFTA, and GATT immediately and do not do trade with any country that doesn't meet certain labor and environmental standards by the year 2008. Eliminate all offshore tax havens by taxing large corporations heavily for doing business in the US. Make this an issue of patriotism. 6) Pay off 5 trillion dollars of our debt by 2015. a) How? Start with a 1 time assets tax on assets over 4 million dollars and increase this tax collectively. Then fix the tax code and make it pro middle class again. 7) Put Patients And Doctors Ahead of HMO Bureaucrats and Insurance Companies. a) Start small with policies that you know 90% of Americans support. Do away with the gag orders and denial of care. Then work your way up to stiffer penalties for price gouging, and then segue into a collective health care system funded by a progressive payroll tax. Offer a tax break for people who become nurses or work in nursing homes. 8) A Pro Education Agenda That Puts Kids First. a) This entails several policy initiatives. Require the technology, materials, and building infrastructure that all schools should have, pay teachers more, offer tax breaks for teachers, cap class size, and do away with this teach to the test mentality and require hands on science, civics, art, gym, and music in every school. 9) Protect the Environment. a) There isn't a conservative in the world who wants Bush's environmental policies applied to their backyard. This is a no brainer. At the same time, go after greenhouse gases and start an energy policy that ends our addiction to oil. 10. Ethics and Campaign Finance Reform. a) We have to take the corruption and corporate money out of politics. So offer incremental populist programs that seek to do this. Debates are won by the people with the best ideas ONLY IF the people with the best ideas know how to define the issues. If you allow the corporate media or the Republicans to paint the picture, it does not matter that most people agree with you. Time for Democrats to wake up. Very truly yours, Big Dave From Queens Subject: Why is everyone getting on Barry? Why is everyone getting so down on Barry? He’s a total sports hero and he hasn’t done anything the sitting President of the United States didn’t do! Barry played baseball with all his heart, gave it his all and didn’t care how badly he hurt himself for the game. Only one other player in history gave so much for the game - he gave his mind Its a good thing teams in baseball stick together cause in politics Barry'’d be dead. The rats are leaving the sinking ship, Guys like Scarborough get away with shit like this and can still bail on their pals? Thank goodness that baseball is the great American sport and we treat it with care and respect –unlike our infrastructure. A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: The Guest and Reader Contributions Good morning, Buzz, and, hi to all subscribers. Regarding the piece on Barry Bonds: Dave Zirin: Burying Barry: Bonds and the Chain of Command - A BuzzFlash Guest Contribution I remember watching those hearings on C-SPAN and thinking, if not saying aloud, "If Mark Maguire (sic) says, 'I'm not here to talk about the past' one more time, I'm gonna SCREAM!!" (then, why show up?) Anyways, I'll never forget Representative Dennis Kucinich's take on this whole issue: It's all about "more": more runs, more homers, bigger is better, and so forth. And, it's true. The differences between two Sports Illustrated covers was jarring: a vintage photo of the late Ted Williams taking a swing on one cover, and, the toga-clad, muscle-bound Mark Maguire and Sammy Sosa on the other cover. Since when do pro baseball players have to be THAT muscle bound? Oh....probably since the obsessive need to make it into the record books (record number of singles, doubles, triples, homers), or to appease the higher-ups who sign these players for unheard-of salaries.... I could go on, but, I'd better not. And, regarding the reader contribution from the registered nurse: Not only was it beautifully written, but, I, too, am sick and tired of this romanticizing of a fetus, as well as of a pregnant woman. Not that the sight of a pregnant woman isn't a beautiful thing, because it is. It's just that this romanticizing has nothing to do with the individual woman. It has more to do with what that pregnant woman represents to folks who think abortion should be outlawed: she's carrying a life (of course, she is, but...oh, never mind!), BUT, the life she is carrying is more worthy of attention than she is. How sick is that?! Then again, that's how sixth-grade-educated Bill Napoli of South Dakota must feel....But, for crying out loud! I'd have thought that he'd have MORE compassion for humanity, not LESS, because he'd learned from the cliched "School of Hard Knocks." (I think he may have taken too many "hard knocks" to the head.) Lisa Navarro Subject: Little Georgie at Play Little Georgie Bush was playing under a tree with his toy soldiers. Some other kids came by and noticed what he's doing. "Hey Georgie. Why are you cutting the arms and legs off some of those toy soldiers and setting fire to some of the others?" "Yeah, and some of those you're just throwing into the garbage." Georgie glared up at the other children, wearing his National Guard playsuit his Daddy had bought him. 'They're MY toy soldiers! I can do anything I want with them!!! My daddy and mommy told me so!" The other kids look down at the spoiled child and then notice something. "Hey Georgie, I think those are some of my toy soldiers you borrowed from me last week when you came over to play. I want them back." The second child says the same thing. Little Georgie yells and screams "NO!!! They're MY TOY SOLDIERS and I can burn them up, cut them up, and throw them away all and want to and THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT or I'll get my friends Dick and Karl and Alberto to do something to you!" Then Georgie begins destroying his toy soldiers again. "Hey Georgie, if you keep doing that, you'll run out of toy soldiers to play with." Little Georgie looks up at them and grins. "That's what you think!" Mike Curtis Subject: Mike Hudson's Misdirected Diatribe Dear BuzzFlash: In Friday’s mailbag there was a letter, “Subject: Hunter Thompson”, from Mike Hudson, Editor, Niagara Falls Reporter, that reminded me why it’s important that progressives and particularly the staff at BuzzFlash continue to stand up and speak out against the unimpeded proliferation of weapons in our society. Mr. Hudson ended his letter with this out-of touch sentence, “Believe me, the anti-gun hysteria voiced by BuzzFlash and similar "progressive" outlets is a big reason why the Red States are red.” I would like to address that sentence directly and with the only word applicable, BULLSHIT! Having lived in a Red State for nearly 60 years I can tell you unequivocally that the reason red states trend Republican has much more to do with deep seated racial prejudices than guns. Even the social prejudice against gays trumps guns and pushes more voters toward Republican candidates than the gun issue ever would or could. Unfortunately Mr. Hudson, in his rush to sling hyperbolic mud at BuzzFlash, chose to ignore the greater historical truth of red states and that truth is that to many people living here are emotionally stuck in the 1950’s. For the record, having read BuzzFlash for several years it is my opinion BuzzFlash doesn’t oppose gun ownership but rather has expressed its opposition to the unobstructed access to and the mass proliferation of firearms, especially those weapons in the assault category that have no real purpose other than to effect the mass extinction of human beings in a swift, efficient manner. Simply because there are so many guns in the red states I decided four years ago to purchase a gun myself for self defense. Sixty years in a red state has taught me this, there are still some people here who see this old lesbian as an extremely slow target that’s just too easy to pass up. I don't want to end up a trophy! Carolyn in Tennessee Subject: Oh, Isn't He Special! John McCain, Mr. "To the Right of Bush," heads a cheerleading session and asks for Bush support. "He needs us," McCain, pleads. Well, we don't need him, and his lies and incompetence. In fact, the Neocons have been a destruction crew in all things pertaining to our government and in this mockery of Democracy they have put before us, it's the last thing we need!
Lest we forget, John, Bush once sliced you like a sharp knife through butter. What political gain will do? Do you need another “hug” from Georgie? And you know what, McCain, we sure as hell don't need you either! Susan Carr Subject: President Bush From his first appearance as a candidate for the office of President of the United States, I have wondered how he was able to get this nomination. It has always been obvious that he was totally unprepared for such an honor. Reading about his past, and that of the family history, makes one wonder why or how he was "elected" to any office, let alone the high office of President. How can we repair the terrible damage that has been done to this country by one administration? It is not necessary to repeat all the lies that have been told, that is well documented. We must elect a man to the presidency who is a true leader and not a puppet. We need a man of inspiration, one who can change the course that this administration has started us on. Once we have a leader it is imperative that we work to get that person elected (so far my favorite is Hillary Clinton). It will mean old fashioned door-to-door canvassing, to inform people and encourage them to take an active part in electing their representatives. The neighborhood is where politics begin. Come join the fray, there is much to be done and we need every single person to work for change. Geri Brandow Subject: Democrats Your constant complaining about Democrats is getting irritating. Did it ever occur to you that Democrats do speak, and loudly, about the awful things the GOP, and Bush et al., say and do, but other than Knight-Ridder, are never reported on? Blame the media -- not the Democrats. I'm not saying that the Democrats are perfect and wonderful, but they are, at this point in time, our only hope. Give them a break and report what they actually do right for a change. I am an elected official in a conservative county, and until Knight-Ridder bought our local paper, might have been wall paper rather than the top local Democrat in the county. I used to think that there was a macro on the paper's computer that automatically deleted my name. A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: Bush Confuses Me I cannot comprehend how he can say so many very very dumb inaccurate statements. I say a Lie is when one "Intends to Deceive." Does he intend to lie? Is he like a Mental Drunk? Does he not care what he says? Examples--In 2000 Campaign he said this many many times-- "I got a Patients Bill of Rights passed as Governor." There is no way he did not know he Vetoed the Bill. It was re-passed with a veto proof majority. He refused to sign it. It passed without his signature. How could any sane person go before the people and make such an obvious incorrect statement? It is confusing? What is his Problem? He admitted in Iowa he is a Recovering Drunk. Twenty Years of hard drinking do it? His statement -"No one predicted a Breach of the Levees." Video did. How could he say such a thing? He said-"My Tax Cuts Went primarily to the Low Income Tax Payers." 15% is no majority to bottom 60%. There are so many such items. When will some members of the press begin to analyze and investigate with doctors? Stephen Case, Head of Geriatric Department at U of Minnesota did a study of Reagan and in 1984, summarized, he had Alzheimer's. The 1984 debates were key. Reagan Biographer confirmed it. When will someone take action? Russia has 200 ICBM loaded with multiple nuclear warheads (in one silo of many) that in 90 minutes of GO can DESTROY America. Top two military officials of Russia have warned us not to bomb Iran. Israel do it. Armageddon is here. Clarence Swinney Subject: GOP-controlled house scores one for state's rights: House passes bill prohibiting states from adding food warnings about lead and arsenic You have the inalienable right to know the content and preparation techniques of the food you purchase and consume. When food companies disclose this information, it is an act of accountability and common decency. It is how companies earn credibility with consumers. Companies that shirk these obligations are undeserving of our food dollars, and legislators that look the other way are enablers of apathy. Somebody is hoping that you too will look the other way. Stand up for accountability among the companies that provide the foods that wield so much power to shape America's health! House passes bill to strip many state warnings from food labels (AP/Kansas City Star) A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: This American Life: "Habeas Schmabeas," 3/11/06 Buzz, Ira Glass of 'This American Life' (http://www.thislife.org/) aired a most important program today on Guantanamo - a program that All Americans must listen to. Mr. Glass talks with several people who have been released from that hellhole. He also blows bush-cabal lies out of the water using their own words (e.g., that prisoners there 'were rounded up on battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq' when, in fact, the US 'bought' these ordinary citizens (including two brothers who were satirical writers) from bounty-hunters). Mr. Glass has shown remarkable courage on several occasions to present programs blasting government propaganda. He deserves support and kudos from all who care about our wonderful country. Please listen to this program. T Quigly Subject: Republican Utopia What exactly do the republicans want? What would this country be like if they got everything they wanted? Do they even know what they want? They could all be fabulously rich with huge mansions and servants. Maybe a plantation. No taxes, regulations, or unions. No social safety nets. Dismantle all FDR's new deal. No pesky media. (except Rush, Bill, Hannity, and Ann) A beautiful scroogian paradise for the wasps. What's wrong with that? Obviously they have all the money because they have family values. God bless the rich. We will get our reward in heaven because we worked hard for the good rich folks. Fought all the wars for the good, kind rich. Served them as best we could. That is what we are here for. God wants it that way. If he thought we were any good he'd make us rich. We have the privilege to do everything we can to make them happy, healthy, and safe. They know what's good for us. That's my rant. So what's wrong with that vision for a great patriotic America? No seriously. Gerald R. Kirby Subject: Abu Ghraib Shell Game There's no denying that Abu Ghraib is a US war crime. So the solution that the slick set has come up with (after years of standing around looking stupid and guilty) is to shuffle the guards -- that the prisoners are being moved is just part of the shell game. The real deal here is to split up the sadists and dismantle their photo taking. The boys upstairs are still trying to figure out why anyone would document their crimes with such glee. Typical of everything associated with Bush, the Abu Ghraib "story" is cheap, see-through, and almost certain to be fawned over as "brilliant" and "compassionate" by the knee-pad journalists who are expecting some kickback later. Abu Ghraib remains the the symbol of not only Bush's failure, but of America's failure. We have allowed cretins, greed heads, and thieves to take over the country and we will continue to lose our honor as a result. The ONLY way to restore our position in the world is by placing Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice, Bush and their lackeys on trial for war crimes. The Nazi lament of "I was only following orders" will be replaced with Cheney's snarl of "If I didn't do it, somebody else would have." Until this administration and their media supporters are led away in chains, there's not a single reason for any other nation to trust us at all. Grant Schreiber Subject: Economic Record of Democrats Vs. Republicans “THE PARTY WITH THE BEST RECORD OF SERVING REPUBLICAN ECONOMIC VALUES IS THE DEMOCRATS, AND IT ISN’T EVEN CLOSE!” -Michael Kingsley- 1). FEDERAL SPENDING: since 1960 Republicans increased Federal Spending by 71% more than have Democrats 2). FEDERAL DEBT: since 1960 Republicans have increased the National debt by 100% more per year than have Democrats. 3). GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT: since 1921, adjusted for inflation, Democrats outproduce Republicans by 43%. Starting in 1940 the Democratic advantage is 23% better. 4). REAL PER CAPITA INCOME: since 1960 Democrats have outperformed Republicans by 30%. (This is perhaps the most important economic statistic of all.) 5). INFLATION: since 1960, Democrats outperform Republicans 3.13% to 3.89% 6). UNEMPLOYMENT: since 1960 it decreases in an average Democratic year by 0.3% to 5.33%, and increases in average Republican year by 1.1% to 6.38%. 7). JOB CREATION: from 1945 to 2003, Democrats produced 174,200 jobs per month, Republicans have only produced 60,600 per month. Every time a Democrat succeeds a Republican, job creation soars. Every time a Republican succeeds a Democrat job creation plummets. NO EXCEPTIONS! 8). DOW JONES AVERAGE: since 1921 the DOW has increased by 52% more under Democratic administrations 9). THE BOND MARKET: since 1940 the value of 10 year Treasury bonds rose 1.2% under Democrats and fell 0.5% under Republicans SOURCES-Christian Science Monitor, “The Los Angles Times -Michael Kingsley- Bureau of Labor Statistics Economic Policy Institute Mike Kohr Subject: Vote for a Republikkkan Smile/smirk The thing most of the repigs I hear talking about is that they are tuned in to reality. These people are tone deaf and they have blinders on. Morals and money are the mix for them even though they do not mix. They say they are BIG TIME CHRISTIANS, when in fact they are BIG TIME BIGOTS. Love to them means hate anyone that's not white. Love to them means faking to like colored people. Love to them comes in dollar signs and the fraud to get more of those Benjamins anyway possible. I know the democrats are not saints, and rip off the till also, but the dems at least work to help people of color, poor of any color and do not act all self-righteous and pompous. George Allen is a great example of arrogance personified. That guy will smile you to death even when it's death you're talking about. A Bill Kristol moment, I'm sure. When everything is bad keep smiling so you don't look breakable. Hell, if I had bull s***ted millions and made millions like ole George Allen has done off of the taxpayers, I'd smile all the time too. Nah, I wouldn't. SMIRK LIKE BUSH WHEN TALKING ABOUT ANYTHING. DEAD PEOPLE BRINGS A SMILE TO BUSH THE SAME AS D$E$A$D P$R$E$S$I$D$E$N$T$S. Tom Koop Subject: Air America Radio Air America Phoenix radio station has been bought by a Christian station. We now have 8 Christian stations here. Are they doing this to rub our democratic noses in it? I think so. This is crazy. http://saveairamericaphoenix.com/ Fran Kaye Subject: The Only Question, and the Answer I read you guys and gals, and I watch the pitiful talent Dems trot out on national television and every time I just shake my head in disbelief. This morning there was a good example. Howard Dean was just on Late Edition (he’s actually usually pretty good). But in this interview as with all the others, he also failed to use the most simple, powerful and I believe effective facts to make the case for electing Dems. In fact, this fact, this simple argument, which as you will see below can be articulated clearly and quickly is an airtight answer to the only question Dems are being asked these days and a perfect rebuttal to the only line of attack being used by the GOP: The question/attack: Dems have no plan. No solutions They are not united. They only criticize BushCo and the GOP. They have nothing positive to offer. The answer/response: Not only does Democratic party have a platform and philosophy, defined and distinct from that of the GOP, but the plan has already yielded fantastic results. Meanwhile the GOP public policy brings only disaster. The results of our plan have already been implemented and have been unequivocally proven by history to be fantastically successful for the United States. The plan is below: 1) Heavy investment in government sponsored R&D (in the 70’s and 80’s), pushed for more than by anybody else by Al Gore, led to not a “tech bubble that Clinton got lucky with,” but an actual technological dominance over the rest of the world. How Al Gore fought for the funding to get the Darpa Net out of labs and into what the Internet is today is a perfect example of this. But there are many others. 2) The Dems' economic policy set forth in the 1993 deficit reduction budget (voted against by every GOPer) and followed through 2000 brought the best economic/fiscal times in the history of our republic and the best results 4-5 year after the plan we implemented. It brought us 23 million new jobs, had real wages going through the roof, eliminated the federal budget deficit, paid down the national debt, increased funding for public education and infrastructure, had us with a massive competitive technological advantage over the rest of the world, kept us safe, protected the environment, reduced violent crime, had Northern Ireland and Israel on the brink of permanent peace and had our approval ratings in most MUSLIM countries in the 70-80 range. That’s it!! Two short paragraphs. It would be so easy for any of you when you get on TV or the radio or any of the dumbass, mealy mouth, conciliatory, considerate wet paper bags the Dems trot out to do battle with O'Reilly and Scarborough to simply give a short rundown of how great our Dem public policy turns out, and the miserable failure of GOP trickle down economics, regulatory neglect, point of a gun diplomacy and anti-government-funded science and technology clearly brings. We have the shockingly stark and undisputed results on our side and we NEVER SEEM TO TALK ABOUT THEM. We should never EVER TALK ABOUT MOVING FORWARD TO NEW THINGS AND NEW WAYS OF THINKING. Since what the Dems did when they were in charge worked so well, all we have to do is go back to that proven winner. Over the last 25 years we have the scoreboard. Our public policy always brings great results for rich, poor and in the middle. Their public policy brings results that are nothing short of national disaster. Elect Dems, go back to the great results we had when their public policy was in effect. Elect GOP, stay with the bad results we get when they are in power. Simple as pie… What do you think?
