Subject: Mary and James (Matalin and Carville)

Is there anyone out there except me, who thinks that must be a real exceptional marriage? ... How in the world can they live together? I know they have children...and they had a great courtship and marriage...but things in this country are getting sticky now. This is harder than trying to defend Bill Clinton...these are crooks...in the worst way. And she is the one who has to be right there with Cheney...and his sneer...and his lies. Well, yeah, George lies too...they all lie...What a mess we have gotten ourselves into. I hope all the fence straddlers who crossed over in 2000...are real happy with themselves now! What a burden to carry around!

Subject: Stop! Or my Veep will shoot!

On ABC news at eleven, here in Philadelphia. We just learned that no charges will be filed against Dick "Rooster Cogburn" Cheney, because Dubya thinks he handled things "just fine." Did I miss something, or is it just me that thinks that an alcoholic, judging the behavior of his friend, colleague, and official white house nanny is not an acceptable practice?

Conflict of interests aside, any drunk (dry, abstaining now, or sober one day at a time, like me included) stating that the errant behavior of another drunk who shot someone ... while intoxicated, and also on medication, who then attempted to cover up the incident for a day (to sober up, I suppose?) is an absolute farce.

When did Dubya get the golden gavel, and become the last stop, and final word before justice takes place in America in the first place? I thought "no one is above the law?" Silly me. To suggest that a drunk cannot handle pressure well, and perhaps isn't the best judge of intense situations is an understatement, but considering the preemptive Iraqi death toll already in Dubya's wake, Katrina's lost souls, 9-11, and the too many to count other incompetent actions which were the result of curious George's judgment. Duck!

I think the only fair thing to do is call in Judge Judy. After all, what does this latest antic say to an entire generation of young Americans? That it is OK to shoot someone at close range ... while medicated, and drunk, and then lie about it, because you're rich, and your friend who is also dry drunk will then grant you immunity, and pay PR people to make you feel "all better."

It tells an entire nation of young people that there is no justice, or law in place to follow. The only justice depends on what you can afford, or who you know in the system. If you can't afford to buy justice for yourself, then the rule of gang law, by which your gang makes the laws as they go, and enforces them martially like the Taliban, or Bush administration, is the only alternative. I thought this all of my life, despite teachers assuring me that there was in fact a legal system that is fair in place, but never before has there ever been such a gross miscarriage of justice so brazenly shoved down our throats, which directly contradicts that notion in such a glaring, in your face way. The nation is being driven over a cliff by the gang that couldn't shoot straight.

Now it is official, the rule of law no longer applies to the citizens of America. Bush is spreading Talibanism in America, and eroding democracy everywhere. To Pennsylvania's public school system, I've waited many years to say this, "I told you so, in 1981." God help us all.

Subject: Sorry, But Some Really Scary Stuff

I have never researched this site, I just get it because I am retired from the Air Force and occasionally their newsletter contains information about benefits (dwindling by the day) that do concern me. I read this today and dumbstruck. Not only am I retired from the AF, I happen to be Jewish (sorry Pat Robertson et al.). I have served under evangelicals and at least I had the ability, when offended, to make them stop. What about my grandchildren?

This takes away the freedom I fought to protect from Vietnam through Gulf War I.

One more....ONE MORE and they can forward my retirement check to somewhere other than HERE!!!!!

Subject: Did You Read Noonan?

It looks like the arch righties are worried about Cheney enough to call for his resignation. And Peggy "Nooner" Noonan has been assigned to float the trial balloon.

Buzz, it has been one failure, one fiasco after another from this incompetent administration. No amount of reshuffling can save this bunch.

But what got me was Scotty's "Daily Follies" news conference where the shooting got played as a joke. That was sick, just plain sick.

So a drunken old coot (picked by the corporations because he's the meanest SOB they could find) mistakes a fellow old coot for a bird and shoots him, then gets fourteen hours to sober up (or get drunker) before law enforcement is ALLOWED in! That's pretty impressive, but don't count out Rummy yet. He's the rootinest tootinest old coot of all, and a blithering madman when he's STONE-COLD SOBER!

Subject: New Vice President

Dear BuzzFlash:

Let's see for a moment: Scooter Libby is singing like a bird on his boss's shenanigans. You know, simple things, like outing a CIA operative. Cheney has shooting accident that he says, "He will never get out of his mind." In the news, there is a mentioning of (the possibility) of Condoleezza Rice replacing Cheney as Vice President and what a "great" job she would do. (I heard it on WLW-AM today.) Perfect opportunity for Cheney to step down while the investigations are going on. Then, voila! - up steps Condi. Just a thought. This happens when one listens to right-wing radio while driving to the store. The memo is faxed with the "talking points," and it says, "Talk about Cheney stepping down and Condi stepping up. Gett'um ready! We shall see.

Subject: Ohio Senate Race

Thanks to Angie Philly for the tip on a Paul Hackett write-in in the Ohio November senate race (stamp-in!). It was disheartening to have democratic leaders and the nat'l party sabotage democracy and the right for Ohio citizens to choose their candidate in the primary. And outrageous that fellow democrats (our leaders no less!) would strong-arm a bright outgoing war veteran with less campaign funding and an early announced candidacy from attempting to win for Ohio. I bet our state republicans have been celebrating since the announcement.

Subject: History Repeat Itself?

In 1920 Franklin Delano Roosevelt ran as vice presidential nominee with presidential nominee James M. Cox on the democratic ticket that lost overwhelmingly to republicans Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge. (Not many of us know Cox as being the 1920 nominee and the same will be said of Gore and Kerry in just a few years.)

In the years immediately after the lost election, a friend asked FDR how long the Democratic Party must suffer before being returned to power by the electorate? I paraphrase because I cannot find a copy of the letter that FDR wrote in return; but it basically said that a deep economic depression had to be endured by the entire populace before Democrats would once again be in a position of power in the United States.

Republicans were in control of the White House for twelve years (1920 to 1932). Those years included the 1929 stock market crash and the years leading into the Great Depression under the conservative leadership of republican president Herbert Hoover.

Americans are in the sixth year of this conservative / christocratic (damn, I love that word also!) mess that we now find ourselves having to live through. After the missteps of the past three months, I am of the opinion that more years of republican rule must pass as democrats try to define what they really want to stand for. I will continue to vote the democratic ticket, but I don’t see us winning the office of dogcatcher in Georgia.

Subject: One of Those Bad Days

The AP report reads:

In his interview, Cheney said the shooting was his fault and "one of the worst days of my life," but he made no apologies about the delay in getting out the word. Bush said it was "a deeply traumatic moment" for Cheney and that Democrats who criticized him as being overly secretive were drawing "the wrong conclusion about a tragic accident."

Excuse me? I did not see the whole interview but only saw this snippet on the news last night. I could not believe my ears. Is this not the man who before grabbing the power chair at the White House spent ten years or more planning the Iraq war with neocon buddies? And this is a war which turned out to be one of the worst planned "adventures" in US history. Well, we had the Bay of Pigs, of course, but Iraq has become the Sea of Corpses. I feel like weeping when I hear the bereaved parents say, "We are proud he was a hero to fight over there so we don't have to fight here." Sure, shooting his pal in the face and heart is upsetting, but Cheney seems to have had no trouble sleeping nights while 2500 military are killed, 30,000 or more wounded, and an untold number of "collaterals" are offed -- to say nothing of the tons of money wasted. As he keeps telling us, everything is going great. He should maybe do some shooting over there? Clearly the White House has no real sense of tragedy and perhaps no sense of responsibility. But I guess we knew that. Sigh.

Subject: Willeford--Whit came up on their right, but his injuries were on his right side.

"We did not know it, but Harry came up on us to the right." (Pamela Pitzer Willeford, NY Times article)

Well, Mr. Whittington must have been walking backwards while coming "up on us to the right" ... which is a strange way to hunt quail. BTW, Mr. Whittington would not have been walking toward where Cheney stood, but would have been heading for his place in line...about 25 yards to Cheney's right (if he was in the center position of their hunting formation). If Cheney was to the left of Willeford, who was in the center position, then Mr. Whittington was even further to Cheney's right as he sought to rejoin the line...which makes their account of the accident even more implausible.

All verbal accounts relate that Mr. Whittington was shot from the direction of his right-side or right-front. Of course, if we ever saw visual evidence of his injuries, then we'd know for sure. But the doctors down in Corpus Christi won't even tell people how many bird shot pellets were extracted from Mr. Whittington's flesh. Now, apparently, one of the hunting party participants has gotten her directions mixed up, because I can't see how Mr. Whittington was shot on his right side if he walked up to Cheney and Willeford on their right. Duh. Something smells really fishy.

What are they hiding? What is it about the shooting incident that they are desperately trying to cover-up? Did Cheney accidentally have his safety off while cradling his shotgun in his arms and it accidentally went off, blasting Mr. Whittington? Why are the doctors being evasive about the extent of Mr. Whittington's injuries, as well as their location? Why have no pictures of the hunting accident scene been snapped or videoed by law officers investigating the incident? With this visual documentation, people could ascertain the position of the setting sun relative to the hunting party...and check out how far their shadows were thrown across the ground ahead of them. Of course, a twenty minute shift (as in changing the incident time from 5:30 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.) can make a big difference. I do so love a mystery.

Subject: Wiretapping, Tap, Tap, Tapping Your Enemies into Submission

It is very obvious to me, that this country, msm and the politicians are being blackmailed, threatened. How is this so obvious? This administration's actions, their untouchable, arrogant attitudes, say it all. Its in your face, i double dare you to mess with us kind of attitudes. Get a warrant from FISA court, are you kidding, heck we tap FISA, worry about impeachment, investigations, we taped dawn near everybody in the congress. Would any of us go to FISA for a warrant to tap the lines of congress people, the msm?

I have watched for a year, and i've paid close attention to democrats in congress. A lot of them are acting totally out of character. I wrote my favorite senator and asked why he voted the way he did. His response was "check my record." This may not mean much to many. But when I looked at his voting record, I found it totally out of character with his previous voting record. There are about 535 senators and congress people etc. They should call an emergency session. As many as possible arrive within one hour at the capitol. Immediately pass a law that would punish (long imprisonment) persons, media, countries who display anything that could be used to blackmail any of them. Let the ones blackmailed get away with whatever they did. Pardon them. Think about ... the lives lost in these wars, the money. Think about the possibility we may lose our country. Do it, just this one time, considering the cost.

Subject: Defining Who We Are

One of the things I’ve always found the most loathsome about the Republican Party is their lockstep about any and all subjects. Their inability to think or speak for themselves is repulsive. Still, they could never have won any elections unless so-called liberals hadn’t voted for them, too.

Now there appears to be a quiet, but frequent, suggestion among Democrats that unless we vote for whoever Schumer, Reid, Rahm Emanuel, and the DCCC and DSCC decide we get to vote for, we are not really Liberal or Progressive. Or if we left the Democratic Party we were bad Democrats to begin with.

I left the Democratic Party more than twenty years ago. I am a registered Independent who has almost always voted Democrat. Almost is the key. I reserve the right to vote for whoever I decide is the most worthy of a right that I take very seriously. I always vote and consider it my ticket to complain. Long, loud and frequently.

I also reserve the right to disagree with any progressive or liberal. That’s the way progressives are supposed to act. We think for ourselves. This is what makes us a difficult constituency. Kinda like trying to herd worms.

I do not believe in battering the Democratic Party with Republican talking points. Anyone who thinks the Democrats don’t have any ideas simply hasn’t been listening. The problem is they are projecting their ideas like Dick Cheney with a shotgun.

Democrats in Washington also can’t seem to stand together about much of anything. It is not up to us to support and respect them, it is up to them to respect, protect, and vote in ways that are best for the people of the United States. I have no interest in replacing the Republican Party with the Republican division of the Democratic Party.

I have never missed a congressional or presidential vote since I have been old enough to vote. I am tired of voting against rather than for someone. I, and that’s just me, am not going to do that anymore. And I want Schumer, Reid, Rahm Emanuel, and the DCCC and DSCC to allow the people to make their own decisions. That’s what the Democratic division of the Democratic Party should be doing.

Subject: New Torture Picture

New torture pictures are available on Bradblog.com. My comments on that website are as follows:

These pictures are very disgusting! How can America overcome the image this puts out to the World. We can't. We're suppose to be a nation with christian values? This shows the world that we're a very evil people. Yes "we." Because we have let this happen and haven't done anything about it or tried to stop it.

We should all be outraged. We should be in the streets, in the church, in the work place and in Washington shouting to the top of our lungs that this is WRONG!!!

I thought I would never say this in my life time, but I'm very ashamed to be an American right now in this time, in this war, in this moment

Subject: They are going to give Dubya a mile and he will take a marathon

I have news for all concerned; with regards to George W. Bush there are no high crimes and misdemeanors. He can never be impeached, because even if he had oral sex on camera, on top of the oval office desk with Karen Hughes and lied about it, it would be okay. He could have sex with Dakota Fanning, a twelve year old, and lie about it and they would re-write that law. As HE Says, "The Constitution is just an old piece of paper." It isn't a "living document", it isn't a dead document, with regards to George W. Bush, it is the wrapper off of a used condom because he keeps screwing us and tossing the wrappers away.

I cannot believe that less than 10 years ago, this congress, and most of them are still there, brought charges against Bill Clinton for lying about something that didn't affect his job performance and it wasn't any of our business. They tried to say that no matter what a president lied about that you could conjecture that into lying about everything.

This president has lied us into war, ignored torture treaties and now he is wire-tapping citizens without a warrant and it is just peachy because the GOP led congress will not only give George W. Bush leeway, but his own way, 100% of the time, just as his parents have always done. He will sign this “editing of the FISA to suit George” and while signing it he will say something like what he said while signing the anti-torture bill, I will abide by it as long as it suits my fancy and my fancy doesn’t stay suited very long, it has ADD.

Karl Rove is celebrating because he has created a spoiled brat monster of a presidency and congress is humoring him and enabling him because after holding his breath, stamping his feet and saying, “see if you can make me, bring it on.” If the democrats let them do this, there is no hope because he will be saying in 2008 that because there is a war on, and it will still be going on well past 2008, that we don’t even have to have an election. He can just stay in the office indefinitely because “NO LAWS APPLY to GEORGE W. BUSH.”

Don’t worry; Lindsey Graham will let him get by with it. He will get the Patriot ACT in any form he chooses, as well, and then ignore that one. By the way, they have also re-written hunting regulations in Texas, if you get between a hunter and his prey, you had better pray, because you deserve to get shot.

Speak up or they assume you agree!!! ABB

Subject: Cheney, doctors, who decided?

Where were the helicopter(s) that follow(s) Cheney wherever he goes? Why were they not used? Someone okayed Whittington to travel via ground transportation to the Kingsville hospital. Once Whittington reached the Kingsville hospital, a helicopter was ordered for transportation to Corpus Christi. How much more could have been done sooner medically for Whittington had he arrived quicker than the 2 1/2 to 3 hours it took to reach the hospital in Corpus Christi? Would it have been easier to call in a helicopter to the Armstrong ranch like was done at the Kingsville hospital to transport him to Corpus Christi?

At the Kingsville hospital it was realized his injuries were more serious than they could handle in their facilities possibly with their available equipment or personnel. Was there a doctor at the ranch who examined Whittington? If so, then what was his/her medical opinion of Whittington's condition?

Blackhawk Gone: Why wasn't Whittington airlifted? (pnionline.com)

5:30 to 5:50 p.m. Saturday: Whittington is shot.

6 p.m. Cheney's medical team makes two decisions. They alert an outside helicopter service (where were those Blackhawks?), but they decided to drive Whittington to the small, closer (but not that close) hospital in Kingsville, Tex.

6:20 p.m. (20 minutes later!) Ambulance arrives.

6:45-6:50 p.m. Whittington arrives at the first hospital, after a 25-30 minute drive.

7:07 p.m. Doctors immediately realize that Whittington needs to go to the trauma center. The outside helicopter service is called a second time.

7:29 p.m. Air ambulance arrives at Kingsville.

8:19 p.m. Whittington finally arrives at the Corpus Christi hospital.

Decisions were made on their advice at that point."]

Subject: This Is More BS!

Senator Pat Roberts, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said he and the White House were working out "a fix" for the FISA law. The word “fix” is entirely appropriate when it comes to this administration of liars, thieves and scoundrels, as in “the fix is in.”

Whether the law needs to be changed or not isn’t the first question that needs to be answered. The first question that needs to be asked is DID BUSH BREAK THE LAW WHEN HE AUTHORISED THE NSA SECRET SPYING PROGRAM?

The FISA law was written to prevent a president from violating Americans' constitutional rights. And contrary to the republican talking points about this “ancient 1978” law, FISA WAS AMENDED after 9/11 to make it even easier for the administration to legally do what it is now doing and does not in any way prevent Mr. Bush from spying on Qaeda members or other terrorists.

Subject: 6 To 200 Holes in Cheney Story

It is amazing that after they take 4 days to get the story right it is still full of holes. Was it Dr. Pepper for lunch or beer? Cheney wasn't drinking at all, yet he has "a" beer with BBQ and then "fixes himself a drink back at the ranch." I would like to know what time lunch was. According to Cheney:

CHENEY: Correct. We’d taken a break at lunch — go down under an old — ancient oak tree there on the place, and have a barbecue. I had a beer at lunch. After lunch, we take a break, go back to ranch headquarters. Then we took about an hour-long tour of ranch, with a ranch hand driving the vehicle, looking at game. We didn’t go back into the field to hunt quail until about, oh, sometime after 3 p.m. The five of us who were in that party were together all afternoon. Nobody was drinking, nobody was under the influence.

That doesn't jive at all with the other GOP talkers who want us to believe that 5 or 6 hours passed before they went back in the field. Hell, that means the BBQ lunch was at 9am. Isn't that a little early for beef, even by Texas standards? Not one aspect of this story flies.

So Dick, you can wipe off that grin, I know where you’ve been, It’s all been a pack of lies.

Subject: A Response From Johnny Isakson (And the B.S. goes on...and on)

Dear Buzzers --

I recently forwarded a message from our OTHER renowned (make that "notorious") Senator here in GA (which you might have read).  That one was from his counterpart.  Both, as if I needed to TELL you, are Repukelicans.

This letter is equally entertaining.  (Chambliss's was on terrorism.  Isakson's is on justification of national surveillance without a warrant.)  WARNING:  Don't eat anything before you read this garbage bag of lies and distortions.

Dear Ms. Lee (Barb) Blazyk :

Thank you for contacting me regarding domestic surveillance practices. I am glad to hear your thoughts on the matter and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

I wholeheartedly believe that the domestic surveillance program authorized by President Bush is both within the confines of his presidential authority and is a vital component of our national security. I am a strong supporter of the right to privacy afforded to every American, but I also believe that if a suspected al-Qaeda terrorist is communicating in the United States, our President must have the ability to authorize the monitoring of those conversations.

Several court cases have upheld the President's inherent authority to conduct searches without a warrant to obtain foreign intelligence. The United States is fighting a war unlike any other in our history. This war is a digital war with enemies who are using the very resources and freedoms that Americans enjoy in order to plan and carry out their evildoings. It would be irresponsible of us to keep the President from using the tools necessary to fight this war, and I believe wiretapping individuals within the United States connected to al-Qaeda, is a vital tool to winning the War on Terror. I believe that Congressional hearings are necessary to help the American people realize the complexity and necessity of this important program. The only people who should be worried about this program are the terrorists, and I believe they should be worried. Please know that I will keep your thoughts in mind if this issue is debated further in Congress.

Thank you again for contacting me, and I hope you will not hesitate to call on me in the future if I can be of assistance to you.

Sincerely,

Johnny Isakson United States Senator

Subject: Cheney's Shooting Accident and Iraq

Has anyone considered the possibility that V.P. Cheney might have led a different life - both in the shooting incident and in leading us to War in Iraq?

Consider his shooting statement: "The image of him falling is something I'll never be able to get out of my mind. I fired, and there's Harry falling. And it was, I'd have to say, one of the worst days of my life, at that moment."

If he had not taken the 5-6 military deferments, maybe he would have had this experience much earlier in life and be LESS inclined to send young men and woman into harm's way.

Subject: A New Political Party

I think at this point, we are all pretty much disillusioned with the democratic party - at every critical juncture, they show a complete lack of ability to stand up for what's right. I think it's time to make a move toward real change:

A New Political Party

It’s time for a new political party in Washington. The Republicans have become nothing but thralls to the empire of George W. Bush and the Christocrats. And the Democratic party, over and over, has demonstrated its absolute unwillingness to represent the needs and wishes of the American people. Finally, we all know most of the democrats on Capitol Hill are as beholden to corporate interests and lobbyists as the Republicans. Reform is no longer an option.

So I propose a new party, which would welcome any democrats who chose to adopt its tenets. It is vital that this party have a progressive yet practical platform, and a plan and vision for the future of America. But first: a name. I suggest The Public Party. This name accomplishes a number of goals:

- It takes away some of the power of the Republican name, by using a similar, yet shorter and punchier name.

- It defines the party as being for the good of the public, or the people, in stark opposition to both republicans and democrats, who seem to be in politics for political gain, power, corporate largesse, etc.

- It is an inclusive name; easy to define yourself as part of it and difficult to define yourself as outside of it.

The Public Party vision needs to be a positive one, not reactionary. Yes, things are so bad that it is hard to keep up with everything that needs fixing, but it’s impossible to fix anything without visionary ideas. Here is a proposed basic platform for the Public Party:

- Develop a corporate structure and business regulations that support a social contract. One in which there is healthy competition and small businesses are encouraged to thrive. One in which the free market works to promote upward mobility rather than downward mobility.

- Ensure economic security for all Americans through progressive social policies. Use the potential efficiency of government to support those most in need.

- Provide basic health care for all Americans. This is of absolute necessity, and well within the range of possibility.

- Provide superior education for Americans. Education is the foundation of our society and needs to be absolutely first class. Not only adequate, but with investment in innovations and ideas.

- Support the equality provided for in the Constitution. Support lawmaking that increases opportunity for all Americans, and that eradicates discrimination. Uphold an ideal in which everyone is free and honored.

- Create a foreign policy in which we are part of the world community. Forge bonds with allies based on mutual goals.

- Work to encourage a trade policy that opens up markets while at the same time protects the interests of Americans.

- Create a tax system that:

- Is straightforward and simple to understand; Is progressive; No longer favors huge corporations with unnecessary giveaways and subsidies; Encourages entrepreneurs and small employers

- Invest in alternative energy sources, with a goal of becoming completely free of oil dependency by the year 2020. Develop policies that encourage consumers to make environmentally friendly choices.

- Support innovation in the technological revolution, creating new industries in which Americans can find growth both economically and intellectually. Place an emphasis on policies that encourage sustainable use of resources or accurately assess and manage costs and dangers of using non-sustainable resources.

- Implement a smart defense and military program. Promote international cooperation and limit the creation of new weapons. Establish military programs with strong incentives that reward soldiers for their service. Create a military structure that trains innovation and strategic thinking.

- Implement government policies that support the free choices of Americans, whether those choices are religious, sexual, or otherwise.

There are countless policy and platform details that would need to be worked out as time goes on. This is only a beginning outline. But the important thing is to have a vision and start some momentum. We can see through polls that the majority of Americans are dissatisfied with the way things are. Most of us have a fiscally conservative, socially progressive standpoint. We’d like to see things work in a common sense sort of way, in which our country and the rest of the world are moving toward greater health, greater economic stability, greater knowledge, greater peace, and greater meaning. We have only to capture those desires in a positive vision and we can actually move ahead to make it happen.

It’s time to abandon the Democratic party. It has failed us. But that is good news, because it is an opportunity to create meaningful change. Let’s start the momentum: I declare myself Public!

Subject: GOP Disses Elephant for Quail

Just thinking... maybe after years of using the Elephant as their party symbol the Republicans should switch to the Quail. It would reinforce better their tough guy image, and help sell the public on they being the ones to best lead the war on terror.

Then at their conventions they could have a little caged quail as a mascot, and even swap the Whitehouse Thanksgiving turkey for quail.

Anyway, just a thought.

It's just as offensive to smear a whole group of people like doctors as it is to do it to blacks or jews or whoever. It's bad for the progressive agenda. You've done it repeatedly. Stop.

Tension Between Doctors, Free Clinics Rising in Katrina-ravaged Mississippi. Apparently, if health care is free, some doctors might not be able to afford their Lexuses. 2/17

Subject: Deadeye Dick and the Fearless Hunters

Dead Eye Dick and his fellow fearless hunters silently stalk their wily prey deep in the Texas brush somewhere south of Corpus Christi, east of the Sangre de Christi, and right about on top of the Corpus Delecti. They are stalking the feared perdicula erythrorhyncha, the painted bush quail.

They are careful to avoid stepping on dried leaves or branches so as not to roust the feathery flock of giblets and beaks into flight before they come within the range of their weaponry. The only sounds are the Texas wind fluttering the neon orange windbreakers worn by the fearless hunters and the stuttering whirring sound coming from Deadeye's chest.

Deadeye Dick's pacemaker is making the struggling sound, exactly like a Black&Decker electric can opener trying to chew open the water hatch of a submarine and a little like a garbage disposal attempting to disgorge a whole cantaloupe. Deadeye is quite pumped. In spite of the triple martini breakfast, his nerves are all ajitter at the thought of confronting the awesome might of the dreaded east Texas carnivore--Death on Wings, the bush quail and its massive skull-skewing beak.

Deadeye Dick chills at the thought of being killed by a quail. It was a real possibility he knew, though, and he pictures headlines screaming, "VP pecked to death!!!" "Cheney found with skull ventilated, bird beaks suspected!!!" "Bush--I tole Dick to stay away from them critters. Tole him to just do what I do--go down to the ranch every couple weeks and clear out all the under brush. That way, the critters ain't got no place from which to pounce. Stubborn ole Dick--always lived life on the edge." Dick thinks--I ain't gonna get pecked, no spank you. I'm gonna blow the balls off the first thing that moves, unless of course between its beak it's got a cancelled check with RNC stamped on the back. heh heh. He flips off the safety switch. He pumps in a 28 gauge round. The hunter's instinct kicks in. They're close, he can feel it.

Suddenly there is a tremendous flurry in the overgrown mulberry bush five yards in front of the fearless hunters. The fearless hunters spread out, guns raised to shoulders, blood shot eyes trained on the bush, fingers twitching on the triggers of the shotguns. They slowly circle the bush waiting for the flapping of feathers. Deadeye Dick thinks--Shock and awe time, baby. Shock and ... He hears one of fearless hunter, a bigtime RNC contributors, what's known in the fund raising biz as a whale, scream out in agony and terror. A quail had ambushed him! Deadeye marvels--While we were all concentrating on and circling the mulberry bush, the sneaky bastards sent another pack up behind us! Damn, this is just like Jurassic Park.

In slow-mo, Deadeye sees blood running down the face and head of the whale. He sees the powerful quail beak pistoning in and out of the man's skull. Deadeye calls out--I'll save ya, uh, what'syourname, I'll save ya. He raises his shotgun, takes careful aim, and before he gets a chance to fire, the third member of the fearless troupe unloads into the mulberry bush, screaming--You want some of this? Oh, you want some too, huh? Come and suck on this, Sally? He pumps off half a dozen shots in about .24 seconds, sending a cloud of feathers into the air. At the sound of the first blast into the bush, the carnivorous quail had unlatched its beak from the whale's ear and fluttered skyward. Deadeye's reflexes weren't what they once were, he realized as he squeezed the trigger, the barrel of the gun still pointing where the killer quail had been mauling the bigtime RNC whale. He fired a pattern of shot right into the whale's face and upper chest.

Sh*t, Deadeye, ya got me, the whale said. Well at least I'ma gonna die with my boots on. Deadeye, promise you won't tell em I got pecked.

Now, now, Deadeye, said. I'll just tell them that you stuck your face in front of my barrel. They'll believe it. That'd be a much better way to go out in the press than getting mauled by a half pound angry fowl, wouldn't it? You bet it would. Now you just relax and we'll get you to the hospital in 15 or 16 hours.

And so, children, that's how the legend of Deadeye Dick and the Fearless Hunters began. It only got sillier from there.

NEXT WEEK: Deadeye Dick and the Fearless Hunters gallop to the aid of Gunslinging George as he verses the evil ranch stealers of Impeachment Ridge.

Subject: 9/11

9/11 didn’t begin and end on September 11th anymore then the killing of an abusive husband by his abused wife began and ended on the day she shot him. I’m not saying that what happened on 9/11 was justifiable or morally right. I’m simply saying that when an abused wife goes on trial for the murder of the man that abused her we investigate more then her act of pulling the trigger.

Oh, I know I’ll be accused of “hating America,” but I don’t, I love my country, but that doesn’t mean I’m blind. I’m sure Ted Kaczynski's younger brother David loved him, too, but he still did the right thing. I could sit here and list out pages and pages of immoral acts committed by America starting with the day we stepped onto this Continent and begin the government sponsored genocide of the Native Americans, but the people who’ve wrapped themselves up in the flag won’t listen. They’ve whipped themselves up into a faux patriotic zeal reminiscent of Nazi Germany.

The country where the Arab company taking over our ports was one of the monetary supporters of the 9/11 hijackers. This is VERY DISTURBING. Couple this with Halliburton getting a no-bid contract to build several internment camps within US borders. And the senate breaking the filibuster against the new Patriot Act II, which introduces a new crime DISRUPTER and federal uniformed secret service police force that can arrest Americans without a warrant. It seems to me that W wants another attack so he can declare Martial Law.

Subject: Voices of Deception Are Voices of Destruction!

Bush‘s brand of politics centers around using undue influence, threats, special favors, and pressure to prevent Americans and Congress from taking part in matters that should concern them. This Administration easily separates morals and politics when it benefits them to do so. They have done anything but bring honor and integrity to the White House as once promised.

Their actions of evasion, deception, and cover-up resemble the thoughts of an Adolph Hitler quote when he said, “I recognize no moral law in politics. Politics is a game in which every sort of trick is permissible, and in which the rules are constantly being changed by the players to suit themselves.”

No better are their puppets, henchmen, and accomplices, who deceive the public in Bush’s name! First on this list is Pat Roberts! It was this cagey Republican Senator from Kansas who led the way in stonewalling the Senate investigation of how George and his cronies used faulty intelligence, and avoided dissenting opinions, to market their “fixed war policy” until after the election. This cover-up ploy continued AFTER the election as well. When Harry Reid went public demanding a follow-up, Roberts, the Bush Apostle of Deception, claimed the report was eminent in two weeks. Months later, we are STILL WAITING! Mr. Roberts once made the statement the investigation was like “replowing old ground!”

Roberts continues throwing a blanket over Bush misdeeds as he has now advised Americans that Mr. Bush’s warrantless spying WILL NOT BE INVESTIGATED! Like an obedient do-bee, he sidesteps his duty to the American people by claiming to be working with the Administration on amending the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance act, hoping once again we will have short memories.

The Bush/Rove political Machine uses the old tactics of diversion to shift attention to going after the New York Times sources of information who disclosed the NSA domestic surveillance operation.

The report from the eye-opening article, “Surgery Before Diagnosis” (afterdowningstreet.org) by the American Progress Action Fund, should be read by all.

The article discloses that Senator Mike DeWine {R-OH} is proposing drafting legislation EXEMPTING the NSA from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and Peter Hoekstra {R-MI} is pushing for more “limited inquiry!”

Falling on the deaf ears of committee members and the media, the article quotes Senator Rockefeller’s statement. "Sen. John Rockefeller (D-WV), ranking member of the intelligence panel, explained the meaning of the most recent developments. 'It is apparent to me that the White House has applied heavy pressure in recent weeks to prevent the committee from doing its job. Although some members of this committee indicate they need more time to decide on what action to take, I believe this is another stalling tactic.'"

There are others, from both parties, besides those mentioned, who seem to have a conflict of duty, and give in to the pressure and cajoling of the White House over their duty to their constituents in taking that which is right action. They should be voted out!

Subject: Hey Lieberman - Watch Your Back!! We're Coming After You!!

Hi Connecticut BuzzFlash Readers,

Looks like more Democrats are hearing that interview of Lieberman with Hannity and are finally being called for polling data.

"Thanks Hannity"! Never thought I would say that!

Papers keep saying Lieberman has ratings in the 60 percent area. Well, looks like these poll takers had better read Kos for the other side of the coin.

As Daily Kos wrote:

CT-Sen: Lieberman under 50 against Lamont by kos Fri Feb 17, 2006 at 02:25:03 PM EDT

Holy crap. These numbers are simply amazing. Rasmussen. 2/15. Likely voters. MoE 4.5% (No trend lines)

Lieberman (I) 45 Lamont (D) 24 Republican 14

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/...

Now this poll is pretty nonsensical, since Lieberman CAN'T run as an independent in the general election unless he were to quit the party before the filing deadline.

More useful, in the crosstabs of this poll we see that amongst Democrats, the breakdown is as follows:

Lieberman 47 Lamont 36

So Lieberman is under 50 amongst Democrats, just 11 points ahead, against a candidate no one has ever heard of. That's absolutely insane.

But it's clear that Lieberman is starting to feel the heat. Yesterday, people signed up to Lieberman's email list got the first email from Lieberman's camp since 2004, this one bragging about how tough he's been on the administration:

As you may know, one of my duties as your Senator is to serve as the top Democrat on the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. In that role, I am helping to lead an investigation into the federal government's response to Hurricane Katrina. To be perfectly blunt, I thought that "response," led by the Department of Homeland Security, was an abysmal failure. In fact, this colossal failure is something of which this Administration should be ashamed.

I called for these hearings because I wanted to exactly what went wrong, and why it went wrong -- for one reason: to make sure it never happens again.

In the course of the hearings I've raised several important questions to which I have, to date, received incomplete or inadequate responses -- from Michael Chertoff, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and from Mike Brown, the former head of FEMA (FEMA is a part of the Department of Homeland Security).

Hmm, Lieberman seems to forget this little bit of history from when Lieberman chaired the committee which approved Brown:

http://connecticutblog.blogspot.com/2005/09/minutes...

Chairman Lieberman: Mr. Brown, I thank you very much. I will certainly support your nomination. I will do my best to move it through the Committee as soon as possible so we can have you fully and legally at work in your new position. In the meantime, I thank you very much. I thank your family for their support of you, and at this point, we will adjourn the hearing.

Lieberman is feeling the heat. This Rasmussen poll is the first bit of tangible evidence that this will be a real race. Lieberman has more money than god, what with his Republican lobbyist pals throwing money at him, and universal name recognition in CT. Lamont has the fact that he is not Lieberman, and growing support amongst the netroots and Connecticut grassroot groups and party organizations.

Subject: Green Party vs DLC

The Democrats serving in D.C. have been nothing, if not disappointing. The obstinate reluctance of Nancy Pelosi to back John Murtha on his mission to draw attention to the plight of the Armed Forces in Iraq and Harry (keep our powder dry) Reid capitulating on Alito are just two in a long list of betrayals perpetrated against the American people. To trust that a Party that cannot even muster the discipline necessary to filibuster Alito or the PATRIOT act can be reformed without real pain is ridiculous.

The straw that broke the camels’ back for me was the treatment of Paul Hackett in Ohio this week. Reid and Schumer made it clear that they don’t want any grass roots or honorable candidates.

If you believe that a vote for a Democrat is a vote for anything other than the status quo, you are sadly mistaken. Don’t donate money or time. They have proven that they are addicted to losing and will do anything in their power to continue losing.

We as a group need to abandon the Democratic Party in droves. You don’t continue to buy cars from GM when the ones you have purchased continue to be a disappointment, do you? Do you go to the dealer and say that Malibu I bought from you sure was a piece of junk. Tell you what, I’ll buy another one, but let those guys in Michigan know that I’m not happy and that they should think about improving the reliability of their cars or someday I may by a Ford.

The Democrats are beyond redemption. Give it up and move on. Go Green.
