The BuzzFlash Mailbag The opinions expressed in the Mailbag are not necessarily those of BuzzFlash. Read the BuzzFlash FAQ for info on submitting to the Mailbag. THIS IS PART 2 OF THE NOVEMBER 30, 2005 BUZZFLASH MAILBAG. CLICK HERE FOR PART 1 Subject: Fooling the Foolish The reason that “sound bites” and “talking points” work is that you can fool most of the people most of the time. A large share of the public is simply not paying attention to what’s going on around them. One minuscule “sound bite” or ”talking point” lodges in an otherwise empty head and Abracadabra, instant authority. Unfortunately the smallness of the mind is quite often in direct contradiction to the size of the mouth and/or keyboard. Mass Media cares nothing about informing people. Mass Media cares about selling advertising and making money. They are simply big business. For this they get the First Amendment to the constitution? Forget all the little morons who listen faithfully to Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Coulter, and Hannity. If you have the stomach to listen to these ridiculous people, then you don’t have the brains to form a coherent thought of your own. All that bile probably accounts for half the prescriptions for that “Purple Pill” these folks have been snookered into buying. (For most people a little roll of antacid mints would do the same thing. Or better yet, how about not eating stuff that disagrees with your system? Self-medicating and diagnosing fools are the stuff of which drug company bottom lines are made.) Oops, wrong soapbox. I do not watch or listen to Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Coulter, and Hannity. I haven’t the stomach for it. However there are many brave bloggers that do, and so I find that I can tolerate a distillation of bile as opposed to the straight thing. (Except for Coulter, even a distillation is beyond my nausea toleration level.) How coherent do you think the thought process is for people who listen to hours of this trash every week? Another sad fact is that so many people are just ineffective, mediocre fools and the hate they direct at someone, anyone, empowers them. Read the comments on any of the Liberal blogs by these right-wing nuts. Filled with vitriol. These people loathe anyone out of their own misshapen mold. Why else would they spend so much time on liberal blogs? Nothing they say would ever convince anyone that they know anything about, well, anything. They show up looking for a fight and usually get one. Just ignore them. Remember the quote about fighting with pigs? “Never fight with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig enjoys it.” Marjorie L. Swanson Subject: John Murtha Letter to the Editor: Representative John Murtha of Pennsylvania has shown leadership that qualifies him to be a contender for President of the United States of America. He told the American people the truth about conditions in Iraq. Conditions created by the Bush Administration’s manipulation of intelligence and a national print and electronic media that took the Bush Administration’s spin, added a Madison Avenue approach and sold it HOOK, LINE and SINKER to the American People with slogans like, “Operation Iraqi Freedom.” The mystical MUSHROOM CLOUD is now building in the minds of the American people. It is being enriched by the common knowledge of a failed and manipulated war. John Murtha is right; it is time for us to get out and let the Iraqis take control of their own destiny. Jim Townsend Subject: Bush might nuke the world, in an afternoon!: Ted Turner Ted Turner for President! Basically, here is what he said, thank you Ted! (you'd think more people of his stature would be coming out now, looks like the snowball effect is coming!) 'He said the U.S. and Russia still have thousands of nuclear weapons pointed at each other on a "hair trigger." He warned that a nuclear war could "kill everything on the planet" and said it could take place in an afternoon.' He said he was afraid that someone in a position of power could make the mistake of launching them, particularly President George Bush. "You have to question ... the President on a lot of decisions he's made," Turner said. "He might just think launching those weapons would be a good thing to do ... he thought Iraq was." He said the eight super powers should sign a treaty and give the International Atomic Energy Agency the authority to regulate them. He said if he were in charge — and he made clear he isn't and will never be — "we'd be rid of them." He said war is an outdated form of diplomacy that has stopped working. "You would think that we would have learned that in Vietnam," he said. Media Mogul Addresses Tough Issues at Kansas State (commondreams.org) Rex Subject: The Re-gifting of the Sugar Plum President! RE-SELLING OF A WAR; WE DIDN”T BELIEVE YOU THE FIRST TIME! TO GEORGE AND HIS GANG; WE DON’T BELIEVE YOU NOW! WE DO NOT TRUST YOU! George was in the safe haven, as usual of another captive audience, at the Naval Academy today giving a public relations pitch with little substance but a lot of “old” information! What of his new strategy document? It states what has gone on in Iraq, but still does not set any standards of accountability! IT does NOT break new ground. Exaggerated claims of progress in Iraq are disputed from reputable sources. When Bush, Rummy, Cheney, Rice speak, watch for the deceptive wording. Does “operational” mean they know how to shoot a gun without hitting their foot? One thing we know for sure, after all this time, what they have been doing isn’t working, despite the claims of Bush towards progress! Both Generals Abizaid and Casey agree the large number of troops FEED the insurgency. There are not enough Iraqis to lead or execute. Bush said, “This year in Talafar it was a very different story. The assault was primarily led by Iraqi security forces, 11 Iraqi battalions backed by five coalition battalions providing support.” Yet in Talafar, embedded reporters witnessing the action reported that Iraqis were LED and SUPPLIED by American Special Forces, which was not how Bush presented the action! Bush is STILL distorting facts. Speaking of more “misinformation”:

You will find misleading statements by each of the above officials and the date the statement was made. THIS IS NOT SPECULATION BUT PROOF!
Unemployment Rates At 40 Percent. [Biden speech, 11/21/05] Iraq Oil Production Is Below Pre-War Levels. Iraq’s oil production “has fallen below prewar levels to its lowest point in a decade, depriving the country’s fledgling government of badly needed income and preventing the United States from achieving one of its main reconstruction goals.” Water, Electricity, Health Networks Are Below Prewar Levels As of November 28, 2005, at least 2,107 U.S. Troops Had Died In Iraq and Over 15,500 Were Wounded UPDATE: SOLDIER DEATHS IRAQ; 2110 dead, 15568 wounded30559 or more Iraqis killed Almost 60 percent of All U.S. Fatalities Have Occurred After The Transfer of Sovereignty Reconstruction of Iraq Has Been Spotty Dwindling Coalition 37- 10 more leaving Iraq, now makes only 27 countries in the Coalition, but not many in each group. IS THERE CIVIL WAR IN IRAQ NOW??? There have been several reports over the past weeks of Iraqi against Iraqi; of Iraqi government forces committing murder!
As the American military pushes the largely Shiite Iraqi security services into a larger role in combating the insurgency, evidence has begun to mount suggesting that the Iraqi forces are carrying out executions in predominantly Sunni neighborhoods. Hundreds of accounts of killings and abductions have emerged in recent weeks, most of them brought forward by Sunni civilians, who claim that their relatives have been taken away by Iraqi men in uniform without warrant or explanation. Some Sunni men have been found dead in ditches and fields, with bullet holes in their temples, acid burns on their skin, and holes in their bodies apparently made by electric drills. Many have simply vanished!
Seymour Hersh’s New Yorker Article should be read in completion. Under the heading of what we don’t know or won’t hear from MSM:
In the next few days more inconsistencies will be revealed from the Bush speech. Murtha will be responding on CNN and MSNBC this evening. George Bush and his supporters will have to do a lot better than “RE-GIFT” the American people with old rhetoric! Susan Carr Subject: Law and Order - Coke Monkey Pursuit Dear BuzzFlash, As I watch in amazement the crime spree being committed IN BROAD DAYLIGHT before GOD AND EVERYBODY by the Bush crime family, I think we're going to need every law enforcement agency in the WORLD to stop them. We are ALL at risk from these vermin, and I ask all people of the world for your help. Please pressure your governments to do whatever they can to expose and prosecute their crimes against humanity. You will have the support of the REAL America and the world. A BuzzFlash Reader Hi Buzz, Pomp-essness and Circumstances!......Bush's speech!.........I now look at Bush and I can always discern immediately when he is lying.......HOW?......His lips are moving!!!!! Also.....A clean shirt under a $4000 suit..... doesn't make him look any more appealing! Same old .....Same old........ Genie Subject: 11/30/05 Today's Headlines: A Re-write. Today's Spin from the Chimp-In-Charge: "No war has ever been won on a timetable. We know, we know ... We said our troops would be welcomed with flowers and open arms of gratitude by the Eye-Rackians. Well, forget that s**t. Uncle Dickie and Rummy did order a $4 M study for invading Eye-Rack citing worst case scenarios and guidelines for how to avoid them with support troops and planning ahead. " But the Civilian SOB famous for his "unknown knowns" ignored the study, not to mention an ENTIRE PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATED IN WARFARE who were also IGNORED. After all, he was busy following Uncle Dickie's orders to push them out and re-organized the DoD so he'd have obedient soldiers. You know ... the "Yes, Sir, whatever you say, Sir!" kind. "Meanwhile, Uncle Dickie was rushing things for fear our lies about WMDs (and all the other horse s**t we fed you sheep) would be exposed. Trust me, he was wetting his pants! That's why he refused to let the stratergists make an alternate plan after those Turkeyians refused to let us use their airspace to invade Eye-Rack. "BUT fear not, mah fellow 'Murikins, we've been werkin' HARD and guess what? The guys have now written a 35-page document titled "National Stratergy for Victory in Eye-Rack." Yep, you got it! VICTORY, sis-boom-BAH! Now Ah know yawl are busy with Christmas, but take time out to polish your saddle shoes, dig out your letter sweaters, and shake out those pom-poms! "Now lemme tell yawl about what's happening. A little over half the Eye-Rack troops are ready to fight the mess we made - on their own, and 40% are still rag-tagging along with our troops learning. Of course, Ah'm telling you this because mah 'proval numbers are in the crapper. "Now, Ah want yawl to think in terms of them turning the tide in the struggle in freedom's favor, even though we all know that invading an' killing them by the Brazilians removed whatever freedom they had. We don't need to talk about the increase in and the invasion of new terrorists in Eye-Rack, or that Uncle Dickie systematically destroyed Eye-Rack's infrastructure. It'll all werk out later, so yawl jest go on with your lives. "Now for more good news. Turd Blossom arranged for Lawrah to get on ABC's "Good Morning, 'Murika" today, and I want yawl to read her comments. Ah'm so proud of her. She sounds almost as good as me!" Laura: "We want our troops to be able to come home as soon as they possibly can because George has been extremely cranky and nasty lately with his 'proval numbers in the commode. It's really very remarkable how very far they've come in Iraq, but I really feel very, very encouraged that we're going to see a very great ending when we see Iraq really free of us --right in the very heart of the Middle East." Jone Carlson Subject: George's Broadway Debut Hi BuzzFlash: I watched George’s speech today and frankly it made me SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s not bad enough that George W. Bush has another recycled message called “Plan for Victory” where he rolls out a retread of the same tired old arguments and excuses over his abysmal failures in Iraq….but this time Bush is using an elaborate theatrical backdrop to push his garbage. Why don’t the members of the press find the courage to ask Bush why he needs an extravagant Broadway set to speak to the American people about a failed war? Wasn’t asking the American people to watch Top Gun Bush strut across a flight deck wearing a suit designed to make a stud out of a gelding punishment enough? Haven’t we been subjected to enough of the George W. Bush, Buzz LightYear moments to last an entire lifetime? Will he literally have to say “to infinity and beyond” before our legislators decide to impeach this incompetent nincompoop? Why can’t this guy just walk up to a plain, unadorned podium and talk to the citizens of this country face to face, without props, sets, fake turkeys, fake fruits and vegetables, or “Mission Accomplished” banners behind him, in front of him or beside him? And just how much of our hard earned money is he using to pay for his ridiculous event sets? I want to know because we’re in bad shape here in the USA and we need all of our money to pay for the things he takes for granted. You know what I’m talking about, things like food, water, fuel, clothing and education. Excuse me but I can no longer stomach George W. Bush’s excesses, his failures, his foibles, his lies, his deceptions and his phony religiosity. The truth is that he’s a spoiled out of control silver spooner who’s never done a real days work in his life, never lived in a real neighborhood or paid a debt or cooked a meal or washed a dish or made a bed, NOTHING!!!! For all of his folksy, down home swagger this man is just another gawdy old rich man who’s spent a hell of a lot more of his life on the shore at Kennebunkport than on the Texas prairie. George W. Bush has taken more fishing trips on a yacht than in an aluminum bass boat, more road trips in a Mercedes, than in a Chevy, more weekends on the compound playing tennis than in the yard raking leaves. He has no compunction against utilizing lies to send our children to die in his war because he knows damned good and well that his children will never go, just as HE NEVER WENT. To him we are war fodder, tools in one of the many elaborate schemes to make him and his rich friends, richer. So please, George W. Bush, spare us the Broadway backdrop, our BS meter is on “Full”. No amount of pomp and circumstance, no amount of grandeur and glitter, no stretch of hyperbole and drama is going to change our mind. We have your number and it is ZERO! WE ALL KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT YOU GEORGE. YOU LIED AND OUR CHILDREN DIED. BRING OUR CHILDREN HOME NOW. Carolyn in Tennessee Subject: Bush/Cheney Bumper Stickers: MIA In response to a Mailbag post by Robert R. Regl... it's funny you mention the "missing" Bush / Cheney stickers from cars recently. I had just made that observation myself... yesterday. I live in a military town and close to a right-leaning urban center. During election time... I felt bombarded by these stickers... everywhere I looked... there they were! As I was driving yesterday, I saw a car with a few B/C stickers on it and realized... this car was now the minority. Times are a'changin'....! Esmerelda of the Desert Subject: Lies, Lies, and More Lies Today Bush just wasted more taxpayers' monies and air time trying to promote the war in Iraq again. He told the same ole, same ole lies, nothing new to most of us. However, I have made a few observations seeing him on t.v. during his speech (anymore I just tune him out and turn the boob-tube off because I cannot stand to look or listen to him anymore, but today was an exception.) He (Bush) has seemed more like Hitler in his demeanor with every passing day. Even the soldiers are beginning to sound like the German people giving allegiance to their beloved leader. Jack Cafferty's comments on CNN were giving kudos on how Bush was acting like a real leader today which he has not for some time. I have noted that the media has seemed to have some clamps (this week especially) in what it can and cannot report. It is another desperate attempt by Washington to control what we Americans can hear and cannot hear but this time I feel some terrible warning signals and that we must have our vigilance finely attuned. The other day I was reading something in the Dutch language about recent happenings in America. It truly seemed like being in a twilight zone, only America's and the German's situations are reversed right now - very spooky indeed. (I know Germany is not Holland, but the language is very similar which made me think of it.) It remains to be seen how Germany's relationship to us will be changed, or the country for that matter, with the recent election of Angela Merkel, the new leader of Germany. After the German election, former leader Schroeder vented his feelings about Bush and felt free to admit what he kept to himself for a long time. A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: Prez Visit to Phoenix I saw you had an article on the prez's visit to Denver. Well, when he came to Phoenix, we had about 1000 people and the local police were riding up and down the protest line and videotaping all the people in the crowd. POLICE STATE!!! I think so. What on earth has happened to my country? This is not what I went to Viet Nam for. Tony DeNova |
