The BuzzFlash Mailbag The opinions expressed in the Mailbag are not necessarily those of BuzzFlash. Read the BuzzFlash FAQ for info on submitting to the Mailbag. Subject: Ch-ching Cheney Something about the posts 11/9/05...got to me so much...I laughed until I shook. The Buzzer who wrote of Frankencheney....was on target...but it was so funny, I had to stop laughing to even finish reading. Then...there was Margaret of Medicine Park, OK...and her description of his torture policies, that even had me laughing (she likely did not mean it to...but, this bunch is making me a little silly, too). Then I topped it off with Sydney Parlow's quote from Rummy on war....he double talks so much, that he just never makes any sense, he even surprises himself, I think! I remember....and watched it again last night....his silly going's on...in Fahrenheit 9/11! They would show the bombing of Baghdad, then the children and women they had killed, then they would cut to Rummy....and he would say, "The care taken ...the planning of the bombing" something in that vein....as if we were being careful not to hit civilians....so useless is he! He also knew where the WMD were....they were either East, West, North or South of Tikrit! I truly think that man is just mentally off! Cheney is evil.....Rumsfeld is old enough to not be in charge of anything....and the puppet they pull the strings on....thinks, with that silly, evil grin...that Saddam terrorizes himself! Oh well.....maybe someday we will be safe...but not nearly as awed! Shock and Awe came to American during the run up and the bombing of Baghdad...and the total lies told! Shirley................St. Louis Subject: Suicide Bombers Kill 23 at US Hotels in Jordan - Radisson, Grand Hyatt, Days Inn http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,1280,-5403992,00.html The article doesn't mention the names of the hotels, maybe no one will.... but the Spiegel headline is that 3 American hotels were attacked. ... aren't we getting tired of the Media cover ups and bullshit? The fact that they are US owned hotels is part of this story, don't we think?? http://www.spiegel.de/panorama/0,1518,384112,00.html A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: perhaps intel will find a warning in the backlog of arab language documents that are backed up at the cia and fbi -dontcha think? if we have hardly any arab speaking translators, and we have a backlog of fbi and cia docs--how in the heck would we know if there was a warning for jordan? geez-after all these years we have zero intel on the insurgency in iraq-or where osama is or where (if there is an al zarqawi) al zarqawi is.....we have such awful intelligence. i am so embarrassed for us. what happened between the time clinton got the blind sheik and now? what happened to us? karin Subject: From Kansas Dear Buzzies: Okay, I feel your pain. But what about mine? I have to live in Kansas. Not all of us are idiots. Our duly elected governor is a democrat. Abortion is legal here (for now). Although there is presently a witch hunt proceeding here led by duly elected Attorney General who can sniff out a cameraman a mile away. Please acknowledge that some of us are not at all happy with Roberts or Brownback. They are so embarrassing! I vote against them. The media ignores me like I am a psycho who has nothing better to do than to regularly bug them about what is really going on and getting the truth out to voters. Believe me when I say that there is nothing I want more than for my friends, family and neighbors in Kansas to open their eyes and ears and see what those idiots they sent to Washington are doing to our country! My apologies to my country on behalf of this great state. A BuzzFlash Reader [BuzzFlash Note: We do feel your pain. After all ... since 2000 we've all been in the minority and trying to get ourselves heard!] Subject: Kansas Board of Ed Hi, Buzz!! Ouch!! The Kansas State Board of Education has mortified us again. But I must remind all BuzzFlash readers that pronouncements by the Kansas Board of Education DO NOT - REPEAT, DO NOT - HAVE THE FORCE OF LAW. Science teachers in Kansas will read the memo, shake their heads in sorrow, then go into their classrooms and teach evolution as they always have. If for no other reason, because the SAT has questions about it. Please don't assume that Kansas science teachers - or parents who want their kids to get into college - are numbskulls, just because the State Board of Ed is full of numbskulls. I am embarrassed anyway. Jane Hawes Subject: Remember Filegate? The attached link is to a "bombshell" revelation by Linda Tripp about how the notorious Hillary Clinton was keeping files on political enemies. Oh my God! http://www.newsmax.com/articles/?a=1998/12/16/135337 Now from Cursor.org,the following comes out about the Bush administration:
Do you think we'll hear anything about these dossiers from the Republicans or the SCLM? Oh, the hypocrisy! A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: Stolen Elections Dear BuzzFlash, I haven't written since the 2004 election was stolen but I have been reading your site and others. I am amazed how little attention is given to the most important issue of all. Thank you to David Jenkins and the few others that have addressed this issue. I agree, that nothing else really matters if we can't clean up and secure our voting rights. The out and out fraud as well as our process to elect representatives needs to be addressed. I believe that most Americans would agree that they hate campaign commercials, are distrustful of electronic voting and don't like all the money that has to feed this system. The United States of America is now the Divided Corporate States of America. We have to address (or scream about) this every day. All of the scandals- we don't have any control over, but we can start a grassroots campaign to ensure our vote. This has to be our focus and priority and we need to start now. We need to demand that our representatives get on board with this issue and we need to work locally. Yes BuzzFlash, help us to prioritize the most important issue or we will just keep b#tching forever because it is up to us, after all. It's time to activate ourselves. NOW!! Peace and love. Sabina Reynolds Subject: Come on Democrats....Make Your Move The BIG THING we (Democrats) can NOT count on, is the Bush 'problems' alone, being enough that Democrats can take back the White House and the Congress, as in slam, dunk. I am so disappointed that most of the Democrat leadership seem so concentrated on nothing more than rubbing salt in the wounds that the Republicans have inflicted upon themselves, that they are NOT coming out with a STRONG PLATFORM of what our own intentions are, along with solutions needed for turning the country around and saving it from utter destruction. We are making a fatal mistake, if we think that the current atmosphere will be enough to win on, in 2008....we should capitalize on the Bush mistakes, yes, but we MUST have a platform and a clear agenda, along with a message that appeals to all Americans...One that is feasible, and not just good sounding promises that we know we can't make good on. Leave those to the Republicans. A promise made and a promise kept, is invaluable. We've had enough broken promises from this administration to last us a lifetime, with plenty left over. Start giving us something SOLID to grab hold of...even now, with the Republicans in disarray, the Democrats are floundering, still seemingly without any solid, worthwhile, and achievable goals...Talk to us! It's time to grab the ball and run with it....the longer we wait, the more time we give the Republicans for regaining their balance, and their momentum. Start by providing Americans with what they want to hear, and what is needed to save our great country, making sure it is within the realm of reality and only what we can deliver on. Sincerely, from a concerned Democrat....... Loree O'Neil Subject: Judy Pays the Price of Being a Lapdog for Bush Hi BuzzFlash, Well, well, well. Looks like "Administration Transcriber" Miller has finally seen the consequences of "Dancing With The Wolves." It's pretty good timing, too, with her criminal friend Chalabi back in town. The two can now have a nice dinner and discuss the next war that Bush needs and what "Made-Up Info" she can write about at her next job. Maybe her next key source nickname will be KNUCKLEBALL. Now, with Judy's departure, it has me wondering. Who will be the next sucker with this Bush Administration - in The Press, on the Radio or on Television "News" that will spoon feed us what Bush wants? And when will that sucker get spit out when they are no longer needed for their pack of lies? Judith Miller to leave New York Times (Reuters) Tom Wieliczka Subject: Bush's True Believers I remember a magazine cover I saw during the 2004 Republican convention. It depicted a picture of a woman clutching a copy of the anti-Kerry book, “Unfit for Command” as if it were the Holy Bible itself. She had an almost ecstatic look on her face as if awestruck just to be part of the convention to pay homage to the Great Leader. Her brainwashing was complete and all logic and reason were nullified. This scene so reminded me of observations I have made over the years at some fundamentalist churches. The Busheviks are so intertwined with the extreme religious right that they have taken many pages from their playbook on mind control. That is what it is, mind control. The Busheviks have used it deftly to distort the truth and divert public attention away from the real issues. The media seem to have fallen into this same trap. In early America a fundamentalist preacher, Jonathan Edwards, discovered that extreme fear and guilt can cause the mind to “snap”, making the subject (or voter) very vulnerable to new programming. I have personally observed this phenomenon for years used to manipulate sensible and good hearted people. Religious music combined with loud and highly punctuated speech can bring about powerful emotions in a congregation desperately seeking to believe. This technique was used in the 1970s by various cults to recruit and control their followers. Multi-level marketing companies have used it at their conventions to “fire up” their salespeople. I often see the term, “drinking the right-wing kool aid,” an obvious reference to the Jim Jones suicide cult in which the participants were persuaded to drink poisoned kool aid I think this is a fair comparison and shows just how powerful this phenomenon can be. I often encounter people who seem sensible, but are still enamored of Bush and his cronies despite the failures and misdeeds of his administration. These are the ones who get their kool aid doses from the right-wing talk shows. Bush’s poll numbers are so low that I suspect that these “true believers” are the only ones left supporting the Busheviks. Unless something drastic happens, we have three more years left of this administration. The sensible people of this country must band together, demand accountability from these people and do all we can to defeat as many Republicans as possible in 2006. Stan Tisinger Subject: Another Terror Alert? Well, I just saw my first "Hardball" in many months, and at the end of the program that focused on the multiple off-year election losses for the Busheviks, and the poll numbers going down the toilet, I heard another cry of TERROR !!!! We are now facing a possible attack from air-to-missile weapons. They were stolen! to be used against us!!' Oh, my goodness!!! Be afraid. Be very, very afraid... yet again. Leslie Subject: Torture Amendment Hi, Buzz!! John McCain is right to put his anti-torture amendment everywhere until it's passed. And I've signed online petitions calling for its passage. But what is disorienting about all this is that such a thing should be necessary. WHY IS THE SUBJECT EVEN ON THE TABLE? What country are we citizens of? All my life I've thought I was a citizen of the United States of America, Shining City on a Hill, Beacon of Democracy, the Last, Best Hope of Earth. In that country, torture wasn't even discussed, much less done; it was beneath our dignity and humanity. That country held itself to a higher standard. But now I hear Sen. Kit Bond from Missouri (on the Newshour) seriously arguing that the CIA should be able to do whatever the heck it wants to its prisoners (which is an admission, come to think of it, that the CIA has prisoners). What have we come to? Whatever it is, we need to get away from it as quickly as possible. Jane Hawes Subject: Mary Mapes on Larry King Last Night: A HATCHET JOB DONE TO HER!!!! Dear BuzzFlash friends: I don't know if you caught it but Mary Mapes was on the Larry King Show last night. Half the hour was spent talking to Ms. Mapes followed by the most one-sided and lopsided hatchet job panel of ALL CONSERVATIVE minded men to excoriate and brand her as totally without foundation!!!! It was the King show at its most notorious and obnoxious worst, and they should be called on it. Simply shameless and unfair to only have one side, and it was ALL against Mary!!! Peace. A BuzzFlash Reader [BuzzFlash Note: Thursday night he's having Judy Miller on. Do you think he'll find a bunch of peace activists to tear her apart?] Subject: Poor Scooter Buzz, Poor-mouth Scooter has begun begging money to defend against his villainy. Per the New York Times, "But in establishing the fund, Mr. Libby is opening himself to questions ... he could face scrutiny about whether any financial assistance he might receive from allies of President Bush and Mr. Cheney was going to finance a defense strategy intended in part to minimize harm to the administration." Is there any way of obtaining a list of his defense-fund donors? Learning who is donating could be very revealing. T Quigly Subject: The Hypocritical Oath Dear Buzz, As a follow-up to the "Patriot" act, are members of congress being required to take an oath of hypocrisy? There are certainly indications that this is true. The performance of Joe Biden on ABC's "This Week" is one of many such indicators. He seemed to actually panic at the notion that he might support a windfall profits tax on the giant international oil companies. He only meant to suggest that the government should "jaw bone" big oil into voluntarily contributing some of their ill gotten gains to "less fortunates." I thought maybe TW had moved over to Comedy Central or something. Watching the senate "grill" oil executives certainly put jawbones on prominent display - but backbones seem to have retracted up into the inner ear. According to one democratic senator: "Americans are becoming suspicious that they are being taken advantage of." What a laugh. As congress is busy legislating even more tax breaks and "incentives" for big oil - they hilariously take a respite to berate them over their obscene profits. Make no mistake about it, folks, this is nothing short of a criminal conspiracy with the congress fully involved. Americans are certainly growing suspicious and it can only be hoped that it will carry forward to the ballot box next year. Dose up on prozac before reading this. Here's a taste:
Tell me Senator Warner: If the DoD has already fixed the problem, then why are these "black sites" existing today? Aren't such detention facilities forbidden by the Geneva Conventions - the very treaty obligations that the great brain box bush and his dick cheney contend makes further legislation on torture redundant? The web of lies in Washington is so thick that everyone's vision is being totally obscured. Who the hell do they think they're fooling at this point? On the upside, if they want to investigate the leak to the WP, then more power to them. It's somewhat analogous to a murderer rubbing his face in his victim's blood and then parading about town demanding that the crime be investigated. I wonder how long it will take them to recant on that plan and get back to photo-ops and jawboning? Tim Mooring Subject: Why the Religious Right Is Wrong! Women have been getting Abortions sense they began having babies. Just like there has been murder sense Cain slew Abel. Making laws against murder has not stopped murder just like laws against abortion will not stop abortion. We could stop either crime by putting a policeman with each person 24 hours a day, but the cost of that is too much. Besides some rich people would just pay their policeman to look the other way. So we have to balance freedom with crime. Which party really believes in maximum freedom? When which party is in power does crime and abortions go down? The same party. The Democrat Party! The RR/GOP wants to restrict freedom and increase crime and abortions. Our influence oversees is stronger when Democrats are in power. The economy is stronger when Democrats are in power. While helping the needy the Rich also get richer. Everything works better when Democrats are in power. That is why I'm a Democrat! John L. Geiger Subject: Torture Are we REALLY having this conversation in the USA? My Gawd, what is happening here is very dangerous, and surely is NOT what this country was founded on, or what our ancestors died defending. Torture is being debated in the USA as a tactic. There is NO debate. Torture is immoral, unethical, inhumane, and simply beneath us. What's more, the use of it, and even the consideration of its use, puts us in very bad historical company. And turns us into a nation of unenlightened animals. How can anyone do this to the USA? These people (bush et al) are the enemy of the USA. I suggest we go back to public humiliation for traitors. Let's put big DICK Cheney, and Little Georgie, and every other member of this administration who still supports them, in the stocks on the Washington Mall for as many days as we've lost soldiers. And we can all throw rotten fruit at them until they cry with the shame they have earned us all. One day this nightmare administration will be relegated to the trash heap of history, and the entire world will rejoice and smile again. Fall, Bastards. FALL!!!! Joshua A. Martin (veteran) Subject: The Mississippifarian On Citypages.com, June 20, 2003 I COMPLIMENT ALL OF YOU ON A TREMENDOUS JOB. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS, THEY ARE MUCH APPRECIATED.
AS THE FAMOUS THOMAS PAINE, AUTHOR OF COMMON SENSE PUT IT:
NOT ONLY CAN I GO TO THE ARCHIVES TO FIND WHATEVER BACK ARTICLE I WANT, BUT YOUR SEARCH PAGE IS MUCH EASIER TO USE THAN ONLINE JOURNAL; LESS COMPLICATED AND WITH LESS WORK TO DO ON MY PART. IN FACT, THEIR SEARCH PAGE IS IMPOSSIBLE. ONE HAS TO WADE THROUGH LITERALLY PAGES AND PAGES OF ARTICLES TO FIND THE ONE YOU WANT AND SOME ARE LISTED TWICE WHICH MAKES THE LIST EVEN LONGER AND IF YOU HAVE DIAL UP, FORGET IT.
BIG DEAL, SO YOU HAVE A FEW TYPOS, AND THOMAS PAINE UNNECESSARILY CAPITALIZED TOO MANY WORDS. THE MEANING IS STILL THE SAME. NO SPINNING, JUST THE TRUTH, JUST THE WAY WE LIKE IT. GEORGE 'DUMYA' CAN NEITHER SPELL NOR DOES HE KNOW THE MEANING OF HALF THE WORDS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, BUT MONEY (AND OUTRIGHT THEFT OF AN ELECTION AND OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, I.E. THE UNPATRIOTIC PATRIOT ACT) SPEAKS MORE THAN INTELLIGENCE, IN SOME CASES. IT'S BETTER TO SPEAK THE TRUTH (COUPLED WITH INTELLIGENT USE OF VOCABULARY), THAN SPIN IT.
THE POINT IS NOT TO DETRACT FROM THE REAL ISSUE, WHICH IS WHAT REPUBLICANS DO BEST -'SPINNING' THEIR WHEELS, YET ACCOMPLISHING NOTHING.
JUST LISTEN TO TOM DELAY IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A TEMPER TANTRUM. AND I'LL NEVER FORGET GEORGE SR. AT A MEETING WITH RELATIVES OF MIAs WHO BOOED HIM, "SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!" LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON. I'M SORRY, MISSISSIPPIFARIAN, BUT I RATHER LIKE ALL THE WORK BuzzFlash DOES FOR ME; EVERYTHING I NEED IS ALL IN ONE PLACE AND IF YOU SUBSCRIBE TO THE ALERTS, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WADE THROUGH THE WHOLE PAGE, DUMMY. YEAH, SO I DON'T NECESSARILY AGREE WITH EVERYTHING, BUT WHAT MAKES A DEMOCRACY WORK IS THE DIFFERENCE OF OPINION; WE'RE NOT ROBOTS OR MINDLESS CLONES. I'M SMART ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND AN ARTICLE, IN SPITE OF A TYPO. I ALSO APPRECIATE THE REAL TRUTH, NOT A MANIPULATIVE DISTORTION INTENDED TO DETRACT FROM A RELENTLESS, RUTHLESS, NARROW MINDED, SELF-SERVING AGENDA ACHIEVED THROUGH THE HARD EARNED DOLLARS OF AMERICAN SHEEP WHO ALREADY HAVE FULL-TIME JOBS AND SHOULDN'T BE REQUIRED TO POLICE THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS ON A FULL-TIME BASIS. YOU WASTE PEOPLE'S TIME WITH YOUR SNIDE UNAPPRECIATION REMINISCENT OF CAMPAIGN MUDSLINGING.
A BuzzFlash Reader [BuzzFlash Note: We didn't write this -- honest! The Mississippifarian post from 2003 is no longer a live site; we have archived that writer's piece on our site.] Subject: Another Terrorist Bombing: Okay, Bush: "Where Is Osama bin Laden?" Dear [Washington Post] Editor, I wish to respond to your article: "Bombings Kill Over 50 At 3 Hotels In Jordan." There have been many terrorist bombings by people who are known associates to the Al Qaeda network. We have had bombings in London, Madrid and two separate bombings in Bali. All of these beg the question: Why have we allowed Bush to get away with not capturing Osama bin Laden? Then again, he stated the capture of Osama is “not important and not our priority.” Instead our elected officials allowed him to send over 2,000 of our soldiers to their untimely deaths and where thousands of innocent Iraqis have been murdered. I have viewed a video feed from RAI which shows our use of MK 77 in Fallujah. MK 77 is a chemical weapon that proves that Bush had provable weapons of mass destruction and used them on innocent people. His lies that got us into this war and his use of this weapon are criminal. George W. Bush has a lot to answer to especially when thousands of people have died under his watch. If there ever were an Ebola presidency, this is it. It seems that the whole world is bleeding out. Bombings Kill Over 50 At 3 Hotels In Jordan (Washington Post) Sincerely, Mary MacElveen Subject: Oil Execs not sworn in?
Update: For the record, senators swore in the baseball players testifying at the steroids hearings, the tobacco execs testifying in the 90s, and Jack Abramoff when he recently testified. As usual there are no plans to charge them with anything or demand anything other than campaign contributions. The oil execs are obviously the top people in the Bush Administration because Bush and Cheney weren't sworn in about several things. I don't know if it is part of the rules, but I do know you can't charge anyone, anywhere with perjury if they aren't sworn in. Bush doesn't care how much his friends gouge or pollute his constituents, which is why he has all the oil companies on the honor system with pollution. The hearings are a sham and will be used to try to convince people that the gouging was absolutely necessary and they should be happy they have heating at any cost. Buy a coat, you will need it at home in the north. Speak up or they assume you agree!!! ABB Karen Webb CLICK HERE FOR PART 2 OF THE NOVEMBER 10, 2005 BUZZFLASH MAILBAG
