The BuzzFlash Mailbag The opinions expressed in the Mailbag are not necessarily those of BuzzFlash. Read the BuzzFlash FAQ for info on submitting to the Mailbag. THIS IS PART 2 OF THE SEPTEMBER 26, 2005 BUZZFLASH MAILBAG. CLICK HERE FOR PART 1 Subject: Satire of Religious Right/Hurricane While watching coverage of Hurricane Rita, I noticed a distinct cloud pattern in the shape of a chickenhawk, heading for Crawford, TX. God then spoke to me and said he was sending Rita as retribution for Bush's evil policies. God noticed that GW fiddled on his guitar, and rode his bike, as New Orleans drowned with the world watching. God remembers that you got up in the middle of the night, while on vacation, and flew to Washington to sign a bill to save an already brain dead right wing icon - Terri Schiavo, but took no action for 5 days to save thousands of ordinary poor, actually living people, as they died in the streets on live TV. God is miffed that GW lied to his people and to the world about the need to invade Iraq, a stone age military state, with no ties to 9-11, or Al Qaeda. God is upset that Bush's tax cuts, policies, and no bid contracts, all benefit his wealthy base, while poverty has increased every year for the blessed meek and poor. God is angry that GW used his family connections to spend the Vietnam war in Texas, and then didn't even show up for duty, but now flippantly sends thousands to be killed and maimed, in his senseless attack on Iraq. God is mad as hell that GW's administration has lied and besmirched good men and women who have dared to tell the truth about his policies. God shed a tear when GW and his cast treasonously outed a CIA operative working on uncovering WMD, to keep America and the world safe. God has had enough and he said, "It is time to teach this arrogant, unfeeling, excuse for a man of God some humility." George, meet Rita. God has spoken. Ted Sotnyk Subject: Anti-war Crowd In DC (why can't the media report the truth)? [forwarded to BuzzFlash]
Tom Stowe Subject: Colorado Commando After reading some comments that Bush was doing photo ops in the Command Center at Colorado, it dawned on me why he really was there aside from the yearbook pictures. Dick, the invisible man, Cheney was having surgery. The highways of Texas were jammed up with a fiasco evacuation. The air was unstable due to high winds. Ok, all logical explanantions...but aside from the aforementioned...can you imagine if there were a "terrorist attack" in the middle of all these conditions? Bush was in Colorado hiding out. All safe and secure while Cheney recoups, the winds die down, the traffic, along with security personnel who evacuated, would have been greatly disadvantaged in "protecting" the POPresident. Bush was hiding out! (POps are a given no matter where he is.) J.B. Subject: Stormy Spins in a Vortex I reluctantly read Maureen Dowd's piece posted on BuzzFlash. While I certainly appreciate your putting your thumb in the eye of the NY Times, if the paper wants to charge to read the opinions of its professional hacks and restrict internet access, I'm perfectly happy to oblige them by not reading them even if I can. MoDo reminded me again of why I consider her a hack. In the course of her piece discussing Commander Codpiece and his latest Rovian incarnation as fearless leader facing down Hurricane Rita, she couldn't resist taking a couple of gratuitous potshots at Clinton. I believe some Clinton and DLC "triangulation" policies were wrong and worthy of criticism on their merits. He made personal and political mistakes. But he did nothing that even remotely compares to the continuing misadventures of Commander Codpiece. If I want to read or hear "but Clinton..." I'll go to Townhall.com or the "fair and balanced" TV network. John M. Barth Subject: Student Expelled for Having Lesbian Parents Dear BuzzFlash: Here is an email that I sent to the superintendent of schools, Leonard Stob, that expelled a student for having lesbian parents. I thought you might want to share my letter with your readers.
Christian School Expels Student Because Parents Are Lesbians (American Chronicle) Jozef Hand-Boniakowski Subject: Fisk was not barred from entry A Message from Jeff Blankfort Dear Readers, Robert Fisk was not barred from entering the US because he is who he is, but because he did not have the latest British biometric passport which evaluates eye-scans and that is now required of all British subjects entering the US. I spoke to him while he was at the Toronto airport and he did not want to make a big deal of it. When he returns later to the US in November he will have the new passport. Unfortunately, the incident was mentioned at a speech he gave over TV in Arizona, according to Fisk, and was misinterpreted. The story appeared in the New Mexican and thanks to the internet it has achieved a life of its own. Fisk says it is not a story and shouldn't be made out to be one. (Forwarded to BuzzFlash) Subject: Combat Rating? Every unit has to maintain a Combat Rating. In some cases, it is waived if the unit is in transition to another type platform or as determined by the powers that be. I am curious as to what the C-Rating requirement was at the time GW departed his unit. If there was a C-Rating requirement for the unit, then GW would hardly be allowed to leave, diluting the pilot numbers and the readiness status required to maintain the C-Rating as required. Carl |
