Subject: Bush's Townsend Leading Investigation
Let me get this straight....Bush has picked (again) someone HE KNOWS to lead an 'investigation' of screw-ups within this administration...(anyone recall the (ahem) 'Independent' 9/11 Commission????)
The same people who are NOT squealing about this are the very same who would be squealing like pigs had Clinton decided to investigate Whitewater......
What's wrong with this picture! Not only this administration so blatantly doing what it wants, but NO ONE, either most of the Representatives OR Senators saying anything.......
They have all become brain dead I guess, or perhaps just corporate-comped.....

[BuzzFlash Note: Check out this interesting background story on Townsend, which says her husband was a Bush classmate at Andover and Yale; but Fran had a long history of public service prior to joining the Bush team.]
Subject: One Thing and 2008
One thing we forget is the republicans are in control. Today, on C-SPAN Radio, I heard a caller rail at congress for pouring money into Alaskan bridges that go nowhere, and providing pork to the states. This was, supposedly, his kindly thoughts that 'stuff' should go to New Orleans. Debbie Stabenaw was there as the voice of reason. She said that we all know that the health and welfare of the folks in New Orleans is paramount. Then she said, 'I am in the minority in the Senate. Congress is in the power of the other party and they make the decisions.' I would have swerved off the road if I had applauded, which is what I wanted to do. Yes, the other party is in control.
I don't think this name has come up in thoughts of 2008. He is probably too unseasoned to be considered but I have a lot of respect for this man....Barack Obama. I sense hope with this man. Perhaps as time goes on, we might hear more.
Subject: Lisps When Lying
I have my own lie detector, sort of, I notice whenever Bush and Rummy start lisping (which they don't normally do), I just know they're lying, their eyes also tell the story. I watch for this, as I now also do for the Bush jaw twitch.
Also, a comment on reporting on the troubles of the younger Bushies. I have no problem with loudly and sarcastically pointing out a 21 year old with nothing better to do than a 2 A.M. drunken run-in with the police, an "adult" who happens to be a nephew of a war profiteering/mongering Bush who whines about his "noble cause" but has no personal stake in it. The Bush family is a disgrace.

I found the following on news.google. As you will note, WaPo reported that the top procurement officer "barely had time to resign ..." while other MSMs claim the alleged criminal is a FORMER member of this admin.

Subject: Re UK food being burned
In regard to the article "Up in flames" from the Mirror, did you notice that the US is burning the food due to the fact that is beef and may contain the BSE or "Mad Cow" disease? What really bothered me was the following quote:
MORE BSE IN THE STATES THERE EVER WAS IN BRITAIN......WHOA
That's why I have been afraid and why I gave up eating beef a few years ago. Darn it!
Of course, bush reduced the budget for food safety and he said he is not afraid to eat beef. Well, now we know what happened to him, he has mad cow, since he is mad.

I just wanted to say that I always enjoy Shirley in St Louis' posts....and in reference to the one she wrote on Sept 20th.....I have to say......Shirley.......I'm afraid I agree with you.......I don't think there is anything that we can do except maybe to try and vote them out....but we already know what they are capable of doing and have already done to those rights......BUT......Shirley....I DO know one thing for sure.... that we can be sure of.......There will come a day when they will be judged by our maker....... and that will be our reward for all of the pain and destruction they have done to our beloved America.....They make a mockery of God...... and all that is good in this world......As the saying goes...... they who laugh last...... laugh the loudest and longest.......at least that is what I was taught when I was growing up.....and it would seem that you were too........soooo Shirley...let's not give up the good fight yet.....we've still got Buzz here to sustain us during our doubts....and when we see all of the wonderful miracles.... and GOOD WORKS that have come out of the tragedy that happened to the people of NO.....by our own people......our TRUE AMERICANS (not the government) it can become a ray of sunlight in these dark and shadowed times.....So If you hang in there girl...I promise that I will too........

Subject: frustration and despair
I am so frustrated to see that regardless of what we, the people, demand from our so called "representatives" in Capitol Hill for them it is business as usual. The corruption is rampant, regardless of party affiliation, there are very, very, very few exceptions that are trying to do their jobs representing the people and not the corporate interest. They are spending our hard earned money as if there is no tomorrow. They ask for sacrifice, but, of course, they do not sacrifice a thing.
Shirley of St. Louis, I totally agree with your posting of 9/20. I have no hope nor trust in most of the current politicians. I believe that we need new blood in order to take our country back and have peace. I just wish that my people would have followed the example of the people of Ukraine when they went to the streets and demanded new elections, this is something we should have done since the politicians appeared to have been neutered. Sadly this is no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave, we have become the current slaves of the elite class because of our lack of courage and desire for a true democracy where those elected know that they are public servants, therefore, they must act accordingly.
If we, the people, do not impeach Bu$h and his criminal bunch of crooks, liars and hypocrites, then be happy to reside in the United Corporations against Americans.
Subject: I am so in Agreement with Karen Webb
Karen Webb has done a great job of expressing my opinion in “Leaving no Millionaire Behind.” I could not have said it better myself.
Thank you, Karen Webb.
And quoting you, Karen: “Cancel the damn tax cuts for the wealthy. All of them, and make it retroactive. Give back the surplus.”
Subject: Right Wing E-mail
I have an aunt who sends me all of her right wing claptrap e-mails. I was just about to ask her to take me off her list since the last few kind of put me over the edge and the amusement factor has worn off. It occurred to me though that they might be of some use or interest in a know thine-enemy-kind-of-way.
Does anyone archive these or track them? Snopes, of course is fantastic but not partisan enough for effective counter-e-mails.
How about a BuzzFlash right-wing hatemonger e-mail clearinghouse?
I'm very tired and trying to redirect my anger from these e-mails. I didn't want to let these e-mails go to waste.

[BuzzFlash Note: Readers -- suggestions? When Snopes.com or TruthorFiction.com don't have the answer, just delete them. Many of these types of right-wingers are beyond repair. One of the BuzzFlash editors has family in south Louisiana who steadfastly support Bush because he "sticks to his word" and has "conviction" (despite a record that proves otherwise). When asked "Wouldn't sticking to one's word be a bad thing if the words or ideas were simply wrong?" or "Serial killers have lots of conviction for killing people, but you wouldn't cheer them on" -- the arguments fall on deaf ears. It genuinely appears that there's some impenetrable defense mechanism that simply disallows logical thought processes and substitutes them for the false imagery of Rove's press stunts.]
Subject: Bush Names Fran Townsend To Investigate Administration's Katrina Response
You would think the president's homeland security adviser would have more important things to investigate. Like, bin Laden, for example. Here's what former CIA analyst Michael Scheuer told CNN about Townsend: "The person who comes closest to fitting the job description [of being in charge of going after Bin Laden and other terrorists] is Fran Townsend, whose official title is assistant to the president and homeland security adviser." I feel safer already.

Subject: Chertoff on Today Show, NO was different (sent to corporate media)
When asked about staging the food products and getting them to Rita's victims, he said New Orleans was different because most of the roads were flooded making it almost an Island.
How is that different from Galveston being an actual Island and nearly every road leading to Houston being flooded by a tropical storm in 2001?
He isn't claiming Galveston won't be an Island after the storm hits, is he?
What a putz. There are 3 exit routes out of Galveston and 2 of them will be impassable long before the actual storm hits. The road up the Bolivar Peninsula, which you have to take a ferry to get to from Galveston is along the gulf with just a few sand dunes keeping the water out. The pass over to Freeport is the same. The big I-10 bridge will be underwater at both ends.
Chertoff is too stupid to even consider talking to. Most of the coast of Texas has no protection. You won't be able to get out of Corpus, if you wait too late. There are a lot of high bridges, but if the ends are flooded you can't get to them.
The area for miles around Galveston, Freeport and all the way to Corpus Christi is nothing but levees, bayous and rice paddies, which I suppose is a plus because of wetlands.
I know Bush has gotten drunk a lot in the Galveston area, so I am sure he wants to save it. If Rita comes in at Galveston or near Galveston, buses will become useless long before it hits.
Chertoff is useless.
[BuzzFlash Note: For the record, I-45 is the main highway out of Galveston. (We typed "Galveston" in the search window of maps.google.) I-10 is the east-west route passing through nearby Houston.]
Subject: Re: British smash into prison to release 2 commandos
So if Iraqi police can't arrest British subjects, then is this an occupied nation or an autonomous one? This is an important question because if it's still occupied, then the US is financially responsible for security, education, infrastructure, etc. according to international law.

Subject: Sea of Crisis
Help, I’m Drowning in a Sea of Crisis!
I’m a liberal and an Independent. I am also a political junkie. I go online every morning and check out BuzzFlash and all the liberal blogs. It’s the way I begin my day and I’m beginning to think that this junkie is going to have to go on the wagon. Dry out. Go into therapy. Request an intervention? I have reached the point where one more email requesting my help on some significant crisis will send me screaming into the night; or early morning grayness, whatever. It is not that the particular crisis of the moment is not real and important. It is that I am so saturated with catastrophe that I can barely breathe.
Look folks, I live in Wisconsin. We have a democratic governor and two democratic senators. Well, one real democrat and one faux democrat which is only marginally better than a republican. My district has a republican congressman who is personable and talks as if he really cares about the people in our district. His voting record suggests not so much. But Paul Ryan is an entrenched congressman who will more than likely be voted back into office. Which is another crisis for me to agonize over. Oh dear.
John Roberts, John Bolton, corruption, incompetence and partisanship beyond any of hope of recovery are trumpeted into my email box all day long. Corrupt officials investigating themselves and party hacks ruining anything that does work. All very real and potentially devastating causes. Things I believe must be put right if this nation is to survive.
But I am in overload here people! I believe that it is patently unfair that a political ignoramus gets one vote just like I do. I believe that those who refuse the truth because of party loyalty are traitors to their country. And I believe that anyone who ever, for one moment, puts the welfare of their party before the welfare of the country and its people, is not a real American.
That said, could I please take a break now? I am an older American who cannot find a job, lives below the poverty level and is living in terror of the first heating bill I will receive this winter. Can someone else please worry about the national stuff while I worry about how I am to survive three more years of the Bush administration?
