Subject: The French Revolution Redux
So Laura thinks the criticism of George is "disgusting." Right back atcha, princess. I’m not real impressed with you either. Nice suits, proper Republican haircut, but I remember what my mama taught me about sows and silk purses.
I say princess because it has become clear that Laura aspires to nothing grander than attaining Queen Mum status after Bar departs for what I sincerely hope will be an uncomfortably warm afterlife.
The little people can be soooo disrespectful, can’t they, Laura. They just don't know their place. Have they upset George enough to throw off his golf game yet? Does he toss and turn until past 9:30?
I think he longs to mountain bike over the rubble.
Princess Laura gave a speech over a week after Katrina wiped out the Gulf Coast and she couldn't even get the name of the storm right. Hurricane Corrina - twice she got it wrong. Don't worry, Laurel, er, Laura, they cleaned it up for you on the transcript.
Between Bar being terrified that those uppity evacuees might want to stay in Texas, and Laura reminding those who have been "affected" by the hurricane to make sure their kids went to school, it’s all just getting increasingly harder to take. Do you think Laura even knows that hundreds of thousands of kids no longer have schools? Or teachers. Or books. Or know where their best friends are? Or if they are still alive?
Dear God, she doesn’t get it any more than the rest of them, especially “I remember getting wasted here,” George, the Munchausen’s by Proxy President.
It is no longer enough not to drink the Kool-aid ourselves, I can no longer put up with the Bushies who are now feverishly trying to pretend that we all did not witness their deadly incompetence.
We must do whatever it takes to impeach this administration, before there is more wholesale death because of them.
Oh, and by the way, I have an idea for a new Hall Of Shame. Every week it would be nice to see a biographical spot on every duty aversion member of the Bush and Cheney clan and how they have personally profited while avoiding service, including how much they are currently being paid if they are on the public payroll. And, if they are, exactly what qualifications they have for their jobs.
First rock we need to turn over is the one that Jeb’s boy, George Prescott Bush, is hiding under. This dynasty needs to be stopped and stopped now. Prescott is the Prince in hiding, being groomed for takeover. Let that terrifying thought sink in. FDR's sons fought in WWII. If Iraq if really a fight for our very survival, what excuse does Prescott have for not serving?
Then, perhaps a spot on morally challenged Neal Bush, who has profited on a number of Bush initiatives, like Bush’s Iraq Folly, and No Child Left Behind, and God knows what else.
Expose them all, one at a time.
Here is the new defense to the Katrina catastrophe per CNN and a quote by Dick Cheney. He said something to the effect that 'finally they're getting things done because they're cutting through the RED TAPE.'
Don't they dare. When you blast "red tape" you imply that there is TOO MUCH government.
But the Katrina failures were due to NOT ENOUGH government. FEMA became a shell of what it used to be because of the administration's misdirected focus and funding.
We mustn't let this red tape argument take hold. It will get the administration off the hook through "government bashing" when of course fully supported government agencies serve an important role in keeping Americans safe.
Subject: Remember When...
I just had this thought leaving work last night...when the tsunami hit Southeast Asia, the president made an executive order to put flags at half mast. When I left work last night and still today, there are many flags in the Seattle sky line that are at full mast, I don't recall the president ever giving an executive order to put flags at half mast for this tragedy in the Southern United States.
Also, remember when the space shuttle blew up...that day, President Reagan gave a speech during Prime Time to console the nation. TO DATE, PRESIDENT BUSH HAS DONE NOTHING TO CONSOLE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STAES OF THIS TRAGEDY IN THE SOUTH.
Where is the leadership?
Subject: When did Bush activate military against Katrina?
Can you get a reporter working the Katrina hooro to ask a top official a key question? Just when (day and time, please) did Bush activate the vast military resources ready and in place to act as soon as Katrina passed by? Was it Monday? Tuesday? Wednesday? I heard Rumsfeld/Gen. Myers asked that near the end of a press conference the other day, but mysteriously the conference broke up just then (I suspect Rumsfeld didn't want to touch that one). The answer could be dynamite. If officials won't pinpoint the time, there must be members of the military who don't want to be believed responsible for responding late. They were primed to go for days, at least some of them. It could pinpoint how late Bush responded on a most important issue.

Subject: Katrina, Dems and Republicans
This country is going to be ripe for communism. Persons are struggling, Democrats and Republicans do not represent us. They reprsent their special interest groups. I would like to see their investment portfolios. I bet, top is oil.
No one but Santorum has said a thing, and it is negative towards the downtrodden who have been affected due to Katrina. He said they should have left the City. How?? With what?? Santorum. I do fault the Governor and Mayor, having worked in nursing homes, we always had a plan, and it was rehearsed without warning. Evacuations. Why was not that home cleared out by the fire department?
All are to blame, Administration down to the buffone of a Mayor and the Governor like a deer with headlights in her eyes.
I am disgusted with our Representation in Washington, and with the Administration in Louisiana. The outpouring of monies and supplies is heart warming. We are not a nation of bigots.
Subject: FEMA Employees
Following a tip on another site, I have been using Google and other search engines to determine FEMA employee names and then to see if I can find any political contributions that they have made or any political connections or jobs or volunteer positions they may have held. For example, earlier today, searching Mary Hudak, the ubiquitous FEMA spokesperson, seemed to pull up a half dozen contributions when her name and Bush/Cheney were googled. Now I cannot find these pages I had spotted earlier but did not pull up. Given the fiasco with Michael Brown's qualifications, have pages with FEMA employees' political activities been blocked or taken down?

Subject: Burying his mistakes - the outrages continue unabated
Determined to protect his battered political image at all costs, since that is all that matters to him, Mr. Bush has ordered the stunningly inept FEMA to quit showing pictures of the deceased as they are recovered and buried. As with the bar on pictures of returning coffins from Iraq, Mr. Bush is determined to keep the sight of the victims of his catastrophic incompetence as far from the American people as possible. Moreover I am certain he wants to be sure that we do not see the ugly spectacle of military raids on the homes of survivors and them being dragged off into the night in trucks against their will or physically harmed if they resist.
U.S. agency blocks photos of New Orleans dead (Reuters/Alertnet)
What compounds this travesty even further is the herculean efforts Mr. Bush's people are going to to literally imprison the survivors and prevent them from telling their stories of the horror they endured. Once more this is nothing but a naked attempt to try to shut off any stories of the calamity that his failed response produced. It is bad enough these people were victims of this colossal bungling, now they are forced to live as prisoners. Maybe Barbara Bush thinks that is an improvement and just wonderful, but I daresay it is not.
Evacuees' stories are moving, but fence isn't (Denver Post)
It has been quite clear that this maladministration has had very little respect for the United States Constitution for some time but this draconian clampdown worthy of the Soviet Union and Saddam's Iraq provides unassailable proof that he will go to any length to cover up his misdeeds, including trashing the First Amendment as thoroughly as he has ravaged the budget, his bungled catastrophe of a war, and the handling of this tragedy. The American news media cannot allow this dictatorial edict to go unchallenged and must bring immediate legal action to overturn this blatant unconstitutional clampdown. No American President has the right to stifle the flow of news to cover up his momentous incompetence. The First Amendment was written precisely so that government would be forced to acknowledge and account for its mistakes. This will not happen if the horrific consequences of those mistakes are allowed to be suppressed and hidden from the eyes of the public.
But of course when this maladministration wants to use the media to make itself look good in hollow, shallow photo-ops, it spares no expense, including bringing in firefighters to pose with Bush, not to help out, but POSE. Proof positive this is the worst, callous, unfeeling Potemkin Village of an administration ever.

Subject: BUSH'S AUGUST 27 EMERGENCY DECLARATION DID NOT INCLUDE GREATER NEW ORLEANS
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS. It seems the only parishes not listed in the emergency declaration of Aug. 27 for "Louisiana" are the ones which make up Greater New Orleans, the Jefferson and Orleans parishes. And I have heard Bush issued a separate declaration well after, on Aug. 29, the day the hurricane actually hit, for New Orleans itself. I do not know if there is a story here but it seems VERY STRANGE.

Subject: Did you see map of parishes EXCLUDED from the Emergency Declaration by George W. Bush?
You will find this hard to believe. (Or maybe you won't.) A blogger named Bob Harris has created a map that shows the parishes included in Bush's emergency declaration.
(Please note, I was directed to this map by the diary of Tricky Dick on the Daily Kos: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/9/8/93551/76794.)
The map of Louisiana can be found here:

Subject: Report of subterfuge
Interesting things going on with access to a White House web page dated August 27th, stating that the President nationalized the Katrina situation on August 26th (contrary to the latest "who did or didn't do what when" dodge).
Got there the other day, but now get a file not found message ...
when trying to go there directly by entering the URL:
If you Google the title of the page, "Statement on Federal Emergency Assistance for Louisiana," the very first link is to the White House page in question. Clicking on the TITLE takes you directly to the page. Cutting and pasting the URL, lead to the "file not found" page.
It would appear the White House is already (although with typical incompetence) trying to bury the evidence. Will be interesting to see when the Google title quits working.
It's up to you, but it's part of an ongoing pattern or "re-writing" history that the 1984 Reptilicans have down to an art.

Subject: Canadians Beat FEMA and the Army????
Help me out here. In response to pleas from the New Orleans Mayor (I think that's what I read in one newspaper account) ... a specialized rescue group from Vancouver offered their services to FEMA last Wednesday. They were refused entry to the US by homeland security?
News here was that Prime Minister Paul Martin was to talk to Pres. Bush about this as soon as he could (either Wednesday night or Thursday.... whenever he could get through.)
Now I read on Buzz that the Vancouver group (or perhaps it was different Vancouver rescue group) in fact arrived last Wednesday, having taken the initiative to charter themselves a plane and head into action.... beating FEMA and the army to the scene.
I've been too busy enjoying the Bush bashing in the US media to follow the Canadian version of events. If anyone has any link to stories about this please let me know.

Francine Ross....I can tell you what the difference was in 2004 and 2005...it is very simple, as one Salon writer said, "2004 was an election year." Simple.!! Kevin Crowley....from what I heard at one time...and I have no idea how anyone knew this, but, three (looked like college kids) drove right into the Superdome and took some people to safety...on about the 4th or 5th. They were telling the moderator (I wish I could tell you what the show was...I just got in at the the end of it) that they had no trouble at all, just driving in, in a little Nissan Sentra...something like that. They said, that on the way into NO...they saw nothing except school buses going the opposite way...and they took pictures of them...at least three passed them.....empty! I fear there is much more to this than meets the eye...and we all know now, that democratic hands are totally tied. That is what makes us so utterly enraged now...we let this happen, and now....it has gone to the edge of the cliff...and no one will push! I remember in the early days right after 911, I started to hear rumblings....rumors....strange things...and I mentioned them...things like...why were so many of the named hijackers of the planes alive...why did their names not appear on any manifest. I was even chastised by the lefties. We did it, folks...we did it! We will never get out of this, until Bush is out...and don't count on it. Stranger things have happened!

I just happened to see that...I really thought they were going to come to blows...so I perked up...I really could not believe that Kyra Phillips was shilling for the Bush administration...but, on this site last night...I read, that it might be coming to where....the blaming of the victims, the blaming of the Governor of LA...and the blaming of the locals and the poor police of LA., who came to suicide in a couple of cases...was going to be the way it turned out! Now, I do not think for a minute that the Democrats are going to get an independent hearing. I got a petition to sign tonight from Jim Dean...of DFA....and they are calling for an independent hearing. If Tom DeLay gets in on this....and Bush starts whining...we are done for! I know I should not be so fatalistic...but, this is how he has pulled the wool over our eyes since 911....and I do not think he will change in the next four years. The people I know...including my own sons....are being defensive...I don't know where they came from. Republicans are on the defensive so much right now...they would blame the victims....and not blame anyone else...especially not Bush!!! I am disgusted.

Subject: Cameras don't lie
I am compelled to share an observation of the hurricane tragedy primarily because it has all been so unbelievable and questionable. Television has been sometimes called the window to the world and in this case, it certainly was.
One priority memory we need to vividly remember is the tens of thousands who were crammed into the N.O. Superdome. We need to remember that those people begged for food and water and lived in oppressive heat and squalor 4-5 days after Katrina struck. News media reported that FEMA and the Red Cross said no rescuers could get to them: roads inaccessible, flooding, etc. My daughter watched some of those reports with me and kept yelling, “Where is the Red Cross?”
Low and behold, as everyone was making excuses, saying it was impossible to get to the needy at the Superdome, what did I see on the paddock of the arena? A Salvation Army truck! Yes, the Salvation Army had gotten through and was attending some of the displaced. A camera panned the arena area and a second Salvation Army truck came into view. Oddly enough, the cable news relaying live shots of the mayhem, made no mention of the Salvation Army trucks that had obviously found a way through to the Superdome. We should all remember the Salvation Army for demonstrating that access was possible. Hats off to them! This clearly says that if the Salvation Army trucks could get through, many rescue and supply units could have also gotten through. Via the Window to the World, we witnessed the devastation Katrina left behind day after day.
In addition, people of the US and the world also witnessed the monumental national disgrace that followed.

It's there for the taking. Right now. On the surface it may seem like everything's same old same old but that's deceiving. The deadly mix of Katrina, the Iraq war and global warming threatens us like we've never been threatened before. The intensity of our pain and suffering is far beyond what we can safely endure. New Orleans shows us that at any given moment, anywhere, nobody is safe. Oh yes, mostly blacks got it this time, but hey, black or white, unless you are one of the powers-that-be, come the next catastrophe in your life (flood, earthquake, illness, foreclosure, destitution) what makes you think that the government's gonna rush to your aid? And just like in New Orleans it'll be your own damn fault. What the hell were you doing there in the first place? Why didn't you get out in time? Why should taxpayers have to bail you out? It's not hopeless, though. We the people can change the world.

Disgusting is allowing over 20,000 to remain in the dark and without food or water for 5 days, but then I know what disgusting is and you obviously don't. And while you are at it, forcing the grounding of all aid and rescue helicopters so you and hubby can talk about getting drunk in New Orleans and the sad state of ONE of Trent Lott's houses being destroyed. Then you tell people there are plenty of jobs in Houston. This coming from a woman who hasn't needed to apply for work in over 30 years.
You are married to by far the most callous, useless excuse for a human on the planet. He gets kids killed in Iraq so your brats can stay home and inherit the spoils. These people lost family members and children while your husband did nothing, absolutely nothing. By the way, he is married to worse. Subject: Give the newly awakened press no quarter
My letter to TIME magazine, upon trying to read Matthew Cooper's story "Dipping his toe into disaster":
Subject: Laura Bush
Pardon me if I disagree with the first lady but here is a list of things that I find disgusting and in some cases criminal.
1) President Bush playing golf on the day the Hurricane hit.
2) President Bush waiting nearly 3 days to even respond to the horror we all were watching on television, and the DENYING any knowledge of the extent of the tragedy.
3) The poor and the elderly dying of thirst and hunger on the streets of America after surviving the fury of nature and succumbing to the criminal incompetence of George W. Bush and the Bush Administration.
4) Federal help did not arrive for 4 days. 4 F&CK!N& DAYS LAURA!!!!!
5) Watching as a sea of black faces were pleading for help, and knowing in your heart that if it were a sea of whites or wealthy donors to George W. Bush the help would have arrived within hours. It is disgusting that "Latent Racism" exists and people like George and Laura Bush can simply deny it. Perhaps it is George Bush's version of a war on poverty.
6) Listening to George W. Bush praise "Brownie" for doing a great job, while people were dying in the streets. That sort of incoherent praise is beyond disgusting Laura, that is criminal.
7) Listening to Michael Chertoff claim he had no knowledge that a breech of a levee was possible in New Orleans. Only Satan could lie like that.
8) Learning through German television of the photo ops George W. Bush took with the victims of the Hurricane to portray himself as a compassionate man, until the American cameras stopped rolling. That dear Laura is the act of a cold heartless man, and at the time the dead were rotting on the streets.
9) Watching George W. Bush proclaim he and his staff to be "Problem Solvers" and not engaging in the "Blame Game." That, Laura is disgusting when a leader (?) refuses to accept responsibility for their actions. President Bush and his Administration failed the people, it was through his decisions that FEMA was decimated and our resources deployed into parts of the world as a result of a series of carefully placed lies and manipulations.
10) Reading the words of Barbara Bush declaring that "these people have made out" and then the chuckles. Tell me, Laura how it is that people who have lost everything, and fought for their very lives, have made out. That is disgusting.
11) Learning that George W. Bush appointed a man as head of FEMA whose last job was managing horses. President Bush cares more about glad-handing his political supporters and cronies than he does protecting Americans.
12) The Federal Government trying to stop the media from photographing the bodies in an effort to cover their ass. How many citizens died on the streets of America from thirst and hunger Laura? How many of those citizens were poor and black? And how would President Bush have responded if your daughters were stranded there after a weekend binge? Trying to stop the truth, that is disgusting.
13) 5,000 or 10,000 or maybe 20,000 dead.
14) The arrogance and lack of compassion as the spin-doctors do their level best to change the subject, and the spineless cowardly words of George W. Bush.
We are a nation with much to learn. I could care less what Laura Bush finds disgusting. I care about the truth, and accountability. For god's sake people died.
Subject: Letter to NBC: Andrea Mitchell Whitewashes Bush on the Today Show
Did the governor declare an emergency on Aug 26 and did Bush declare an emergency on Aug 27? I think they did. Does the president need an invitation? No he does not. Read the act. Can people in the storm be expected to fix it? I feel certain Andrea will do her best to cover her favorite politician's butt. She is Greenspan's wife. She seemed to go after Brown, but she didn't go after Bush. I guess we can't depend on you guys to help us at all. You were forceful when the people were in the convention center and the Superdome, but now you are lapdogs. I can't figure out how you justify Bush dragging his feet for 5 days regardless of failures before the storm. You are saying failures of evacuation can excuse ignoring the people again. Andrea will be handing out humanitarian awards any day now. She isn't a journalist, she is the president's pet, and he will cry if she is taken away. We have no help. Andrea will keep apologizing, but Bush won't because Andrea as well as the Today Show believe he made his last mistake sometime in the 80's. Everyone is out of step but their Georgie.
You guys are going to absolve him of all accountability aren't you? Of course you will. Even if Nagin and Blanco made mistakes before, they couldn't have done anything after. Only George could and he was in the punishing mode. He will forget these people as soon as Florida gets it from Olivia because Jeb is there.
Subject: Osama Smiles
Sometime earlier this year in a post to BuzzFlash, a contributor remarked that Osama need not attack America, because he's already won what he wanted: a destabilized America, without the freedoms we trumpet so frequently, an America that is bankrupting itself, an America that will quickly lose its ability to lead the rest of the world. I was disgusted by the idea.
Now I believe it could be true.
Right wingers like to say that proof of our winning the war on terrorism is the fact that we haven't been attacked again. My fear in these post-Katrina days is that with our resources stretched too thin, an unprotected nuclear reactor or chemical plant could be hit by terrorists. But then I realize, Osama has no need to expend the energy.
We have done it to ourselves.

I have known some of these wonderful men in my life. Do not underestimate them. They are unique in that they are white and black in their culture when they had to hide in the swamps with each other. They have had a long lengthy history of being persecuted by the local dictators of their time. When they get over the shock, no, they are not going to enlist as Reg Army. They are going to be really mad. Why do you think FEMA is so ready, besides the frightened black poor being shuttled around, besides the body bags? The Cajuns are coming home. God love every Cajun and their wonderful culture and food. They truly know the price of liberty - are we to move them away again? It won't happen. They love their bayous as a mother loves a child. Subject: Parts of the U.S.A. Are as Poor as the Third World
This is what the headline reads. It's true, but it's not new. It's as old as the Indian Reservation system. Isolate them, starve them, get rid of them (kill them). It worked so well, that Hitler used it as a model for the Holocaust. Remember that poem by Pastor Martin Niemöller?
First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Here's the American version:
First they came for the Indians and I did not speak out because I was not Indian.
In the lectures he's been giving around the country for the last ten years or more, Russell Means talks about how the landscape of this country is looking more and more like the landscape of the the Indian reservations: economically isolated, repressed militarily and politically, socially neglected and marginalized. One of his lectures is specifically titled "Welcome to the Reservation." (available at www.alternativeradio.org)
The last free Indians recognized what was coming and violently resisted being confined to the reservations. Their worst fears were confirmed. Many of them died of disease and starvation after being promised by the government that they would be taken care of. The same tactics were used against them that we are seeing now in Iraq and in Louisiana: isolation, mismanagement and withholding of resources and sustaining aid, inept and corrupt administrators, starvation of the funding necessary to head off disaster, misinformation and lies. Welcome to the reservation.
I want to close with two points to ponder. The first is, as we all realized after 9/11, we are all Americans (in spite of what the Bushies say). Two, to quote another phrase from Russell Means: "Mitakuye Oyasin." = "We are all related."

Subject: The World’s Richest People
So the Republican talking points of the week are the people who were devastated by hurricane Katrina are better off now, than they were before the hurricane hit, because after all they lived in the most poverty stricken areas in the country. Now they’re being housed in shelters in the suburbs and they’ll have two thousand dollars to spend. The only reason a Republican would think in such a twisted way…Is because the evacuees will be able to obtain more material things than they previously had. We all know how important money and material things are to Republicans; O’Reilly was more concerned about people looting instead of people trapped in their homes, sleeping on the streets, dead bodies on the side-walks and people being housed in the most unsanitary, dangerous shelters.
I’ve got news for the Republican spin machine, money doesn’t buy you happiness. Yes, it’s true those people may have never seen two thousand dollars before, but I’m willing to bet they’d trade the money in to have their mothers, fathers, husbands, wives and children that they’ve lost alive and well.
Just because you’re financially “poor” doesn’t mean you’re not rich in other ways. The wealthiest people in the world may not be able to buy the big screen TV or new car, some of them may not be able to send their children to college without Federal aid, but they’re rich because they have the love and respect of their family and friends. When their head hits the pillow at night, they don’t lay there and think who did I lie to and cheat today in order to get what I wanted. Can Republicans say the same…I doubt it.

Subject: America's Security, Another Katrina Casualty
My fellow Americans, if you were looking for a security blanket under George Bush’s political party, forget it, wake up. That false blanket has been ripped to shreds, as have the lives of millions of Americans.
Don’t think for a minute that you won’t be affected; if not by emotion, if not by gas prices, if not by your upcoming heating bill, if not for hosting Katrina survivors in your home or community, then you will be affected by the upcoming economic storm when our dollar takes a nose dive into the euro monetary system which may result when oil is traded in euros not dollars. Not only did this administration leave our southern United States citizens to endure ravages we usually associate with third world countries, it has imperiled us in the world by showing how unprepared we are for disaster and how unable we are to save our own citizens on our own soil. What could be more telling to enemies than the sight of American citizens floating dead in city streets for days, upon days, upon days, as officials stand around in New Orleans and elsewhere awaiting federal FEMA help-- FEMA, the Executive level agency run by an Arabian horse specialist, not an emergency manager.
In Iraq, we see an absolute move toward a theocracy tied to Shia Iran. In Afghanistan, our mayor of Kabul, aka President Karzai, cannot move out of the capital without his bodyguards of American—not Afghani—troops, showing our hold there is only through military force. That active duty military force is so over stretched that our National Guard units are spread throughout Bush’s war zones, thus they weren’t in our United States helping their communities through Katrina and the aftermath. And, now as we have a trade deficit of 650 billion dollars, indebtedness to China resembling Mt. Everest, and shrinking hopes of control over Caspian and Middle Eastern oil fields, we find that Iran is moving to a euro denominated exchange in oil products, rivaling the New York Mercantile Exchange and the International Petroleum Exchange.
So what? If world demand for dollars washes away like the levees did in New Orleans, where do you think your economic security will end up? It also will lie face down in the waters. There is no security blanket. It is time for you to take up the government of the people, by the people. Take back your government, take back your country.
Subject: Gop Hypocrite of the Week/ Brown
... True, he deserves special recognition for managing to blunder the post Hurricane Katrina FEMA efforts so badly, you would have thought the negligence and inaction was by design -- perish the thought...
Has it ever occurred to any other readers that the FEMA disaster WAS by design? By concentrating on the incompetence of the Bush Administration, I think perhaps everyone on the Left SHOULD start thinking about the unthinkable. There have been so many incidents of blatant lying by this administration that we've (or a least I have) lost count. 9/11. Intelligence failures, deliberate. FEMA supplies sitting outside of New Orleans for 4 days, deliberate. Abu Ghraib, Jeff Gannon, Downing Street Memo, Valerie Plame, WMD, Kenneth Lay, Terri Schiavo, Patriot Act, Censoring of the Press, lies, lies lies.
Now I would never try to imagine why they would do all these things, but I feel deep in my soul that this administration is EVIL and what they have planned for all of us ... perish the thought. Welcome to the New World Order.

Subject: kkk and the bush administration
my daughter says bush signed a bill allowing construction companies to hire people below minimum wage to work in new orleans. yesterday i saw a lady on tv saying they are going to give jobs to help rebuild the city to the people who have been evacuated. when the reporter ask her how much they would make she refused to answer. these people are poor black people who have lost everything! would bush be asking middle class white people to work below the federal minimum wage? the only difference between the bush people and the kkk are the sheets!

"We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn't do it, but God did."

Subject: New Orleans Relief Funds
I have heard of contributions coming in from all sorts of individuals, organizations and even foreign countries to help out New Orleans in its time of need. But has anyone heard of real help arriving from America's huge corporations, like Halliburton, Exxon Mobil, Ford, GM, Coca Cola, McDonalds, etc, etc? Odd, isn't it? Could it be that all of those companies are only in it for the money?
[BuzzFlash Note: Wal-Mart has had lots in the press about its attempts to help. Here's an article that addresses "corporate" help, but really is about small business and labor help: Corporate and Business Heroes Step Up to the Plate (pnnonline). None of the big boys you mention is included.]
Subject: Bush's Rescue Plan For The Gulf Coast: Noah's Arks
I just realized why Bush didn't order hurricane/flood relief sooner than he did.
Bush did state, you will recall, that he believed in delegation. I guess we should dub him the great delegator president.
He remembered that Noah and his Ark managed to save human and animal life on the planet during the 40 days and 40 nights flood of the Bible. He had instructed FEMA to build a fleet of Arks and a staff of animal control officers to take care of things along the Gulf Coast. Of course, he also ordered screeners to make sure only the right kind of people be allowed on the arks.
Satisfied that he had prepared for the worst, he toddled off on his month long vacation in Texas.
Now all of this makes sense, doesn't it?
Has anyone got Noah's cell phone number?

To S. Sellers from the 9/8 Mailbag. Funny you mentioned the cocaine twitch in W's jaw. A couple of weeks ago, Randi Rhodes on Air America said the exact same thing. I've known some cokeheads in my time, and I know exactly what you're talking about. It's not proof that he's snorting again (or smoking crack), but it does raise a few questions.

... that "criticism" of her hubby is "disgusting" and then goes on to say: "I think all of those remarks are disgusting, to be perfectly frank, because of course President Bush cares about everyone in our country," the first lady said Thursday in an interview with American Urban Radio Networks.
"And I know that. I mean, I'm the person who lives with him," she said. "I know what he's like and I know what he thinks and I know how he cares about people."
Poor Laura, poor George -- they're just poor, misunderstood neocons who only give a damn about themselves. And guess what, Laura? Just because you "live" with him doesn't mean that we are wrong about him. He shows his true colors continually through his deeds, and his deeds don't match his words. Guess what Laura? You may think the criticism of your hubby is disgusting, but I think your husband (and you for that matter) are both disgusting caricatures of human beings.

Subject: FEMA and Firefighters
I read the article about the firefighters going from Indiana to Louisiana. The last thing I want to do is defend FEMA, but the truth is important as well. When FEMA put out the letters calling for help, you were told that you wouldn't be doing the usual duties of a firefighter. It stated that you would be doing exactly what those firefighters were supposed to do, getting information to people. I read the letter from FEMA myself when I volunteered to go down if needed. I doubt that resources were being effectively used, but you can't complain about doing the job you were told you were going to do.

[BuzzFlash Note: The NBC report says (but doesn't provide a link to the FEMA document): "In a document that went out from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the agency asked for firefighters with very specific skills and who were capable of working in austere conditions. When they got to a center in Atlanta, they found out their jobs would be public relations." We don't know what FEMA request they received. Thanks for your perspective.]

Hey, Steve D.!
You can't "recall" a president, but you can impeach him. As far as "no one talking about it," all I can say is "Where have you been?" If you look up "Impeach Bush" on the internet, dozens of listings come up. Here are just a few:
If you're serious about working your ass off in this area, there are plenty of opportunities available. Good luck!
Subject: Michael Brown lying under oath
I've just been calling some Senators to strongly urge immediate hearings begin against Michael Brown for felony criminal charges for lying under oath to Congress. He knowingly and deliberately lied to Congress about his background and resume in order to be confirmed as head of FEMA. I've also called "moderate" Republican Senators.
I said, Brown lied to you and people died, and he's one of your own. Please begin hearings so that others will not think they can have a free pass to lie to Congress and get confirmed. Protecting him, and keeping on the taxpayer payroll someone who lied under oath to Congress, is shocking, I said. I invite other Buzzers to pressure Senators, too. Seize the moment!
Subject: Write Your State Governor
You should do this in light of the current administration's lack of response to hurricane Katrina. Request your state's plan for disaster preparedness and management, because, after all, we truly are on our own. If they won't give it to you, inquire about specifics, i.e., information about what to do and where to go should a man-made disaster (terrorism) strike your area, what to do and where to go should a natural disaster strike your area, etc. Demand this information - you have a right to know!
