Subject: Teach America using a wide-angle lens
Why not study the extermination of the "savage" American Indian by the white Christian settlers as they moved west? The Constitution? Wasn't it created to protect the interests of wealthy white men? Isn't it suspended any time wealthy white men feel vulnerable. (WWII, 9/11)
Why not take a look at slavery from the days of Columbus until today, as we try to relax immigration policy and develop new slaves, the Mexicans. What about the massacres in Vietnam and torture in Iraq? Are they similar? What about Wilson's racism? Reagan's role as a government informant. The Bush family's oil friends and their role in 9/11.
And so on and so on, Surprisingly, I also feel that "intelligent design" should be taught in schools, particularly nursery schools. Around the time American children realize that the stork, the Easter bunny, and Santa are all unreal they will also figure out about Adam and Eve and the apple. Just don't tell the President. It will upset his bike ride tomorrow!
Subject: I support Cindy Sheehan and all the Gold Star Mothers
I am tired and appalled at our corporate media as we Americans allow them to mock and ridicule those who exercise their freedom in this Country. It is important to remind those who are ill informed or have forgotten the foundation of the principles of this Nation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Cindy Sheehan and others in the name of our dead soldiers, stand together to question this present government and awaken the consciousness of the "We the People" of this nation. We have fallen asleep and have allowed the very government that our forefathers died to establish to become the despots that were abolished so long ago. The fathers of our nation gave us the right, no, the responsibility to question and to control the deeds of its government not the other way around. Anyone who interferes with this right is a traitor to the constitution and enemy to its principles of freedom. We cannot dictate democracy in other countries while ignoring constitutional rights in our own.
I stand with Cindy and all of those who defend their right to question this government and to object to its rule when its policies no longer serve the "We The People" but only serve the rulers and their profiteers.

Subject: American Legion declares Fatwa on moms who don't like their kids killed for lies
I had trouble sleeping last night. At a time when I wonder how my 18 yr old is coping with boot camp and my heart equally goes out to Cindy Sheehan and the Qualls and everyone who has lost a child serving their country, I unfortunately ran across this article about the American Legion, and got so upset I just could not sleep:
"The American Legion will stand against anyone and any group that would demoralize our troops, or worse, endanger their lives by encouraging terrorists to continue their cowardly attacks against freedom-loving peoples," Thomas Cadmus, national commander, told delegates.
Mr. Cadmus apparently thinks the troops are so dumb they don't know the difference between supporting them and supporting an illegal occupation. I believe he is wrong, or just using this as an excuse to tell everyone who disagrees with him to shut up. It won't work.
Believe me, Mr. Cadmus, if you want to demoralize the troops, issue stop-loss orders to guys on their third tour and extend their enlistment, against their wishes, beyond 2030. And nothing, nothing has encouraged terrorism more than the occupation and brutalization of Iraq, not to mention the torture and murder of innocent Iraqis. Fox may not show this as news but the rest of the world sees it regularly, and terrorism has risen proportionately in response.
The delegates voted to use whatever means necessary to "ensure the united backing of the American people to support our troops and the global war on terrorism."
Whatever means necessary? Bring it on, Mr. Cadmus. Start here. Because, as an American AND a veteran, I will NEVER give up my right to protest illegal wars, and I will NEVER stop fighting to make sure that our military is used to defend this country, not for war-profiteering bullies like the gang currently in the White House. And what exactly do you plan to do about it, with your pseudo-patriotic fatwa? Will you send out American Legion storm troopers to beat up fellow Americans in the streets if their politics aren't acceptable to you? Then what, beat women who don't cover their heads?
"No one respects the right to protest more than one who has fought for it, but we hope that Americans will present their views in correspondence to their elected officials rather than by public media events guaranteed to be picked up and used as tools of encouragement by our enemies."
No, Mr. Cadmus, you do NOT respect the rights of other Americans, I doubt you truly even understand them or you would never have issued your "whatever means necessary" threat against anyone who disagrees with you. And, by the way, if you believe your own words, why did you use a media event to declare war on your own countrymen? Shouldn't you have just written it to your Congressman? Then I got to the part about Jane Fonda. Mother of God, I thought to myself, this guy is actually invoking Jane Fonda. That's why more of our kids should keep being killed in Iraq and I should let myself be silenced? Because of Jane Fonda?
"For many of us", Mr. Cadmus reminisced, "the visions of Jane Fonda glibly spouting anti-American messages with the North Vietnamese and protestors denouncing our own forces four decades ago is forever etched in our memories. We must never let that happen again..."
What you are letting happen again, Mr. Cadmus, even encouraging to happen again, is another illegal, unnecessary war that is resulting in the escalating deaths of our troops. Last time all we accomplished was a Communist government. This time all we are accomplishing is an Islamic theocracy. How many of our kids should die for an Islamic theocracy where women will have less rights than they did under a dictator because you can't, or won't, get over Jane Fonda?
"We had hoped that the lessons learned from the Vietnam War would be clear to our fellow citizens. Public protests against the war here at home while our young men and women are in harm's way on the other side of the globe only provide aid and comfort to our enemies."
No, public protests against the war here at home bring light to the lies of this Administration, just as they did during Vietnam. And that has the potential to save lives. This Administration has done enough on it's own to provide aid and comfort to our enemies. Stay focused here: Iraq did not attack us on 9/11. This president allowed those who attacked us to GET AWAY. He's not even pretending to look for them anymore. There is oil in Iraq. That's why we are there. That's what our troops are dying for. And by the way, how is it that you are still furious over an actress who had no say over the policies that killed 58,000 Americans in Vietnam, but you have no intention of holding those who actually gave the orders responsible? And you're doing it again. You're focusing on protestors instead of doing your duty as a citizen and holding the policymakers accountable. Blind support of liars is not civic duty.
Resolution 3, states: "The American Legion fully supports the president of the United States, the United States Congress and the men, women and leadership of our armed forces as they are engaged in the global war on terrorism and the troops who are engaged in protecting our values and way of life."
You cannot support this president and Congress and support our troops, Mr. Cadmus. Because this President and Congress do not support our troops. It's all just lip service and posturing. If this president supported the troops -- other than posing in front of them -- they wouldn't be sacrifices for his war of choice. Instead of touring the country trying to sell the gutting of Social Security, imagine if President Bush had toured the country demanding that Congress get the troops the body armor, the manpower, the equipment they need. How many more American servicemen and women would still be alive? If Bush supported our troops, he would not have cut VA benefits. If Congress supported the troops, Tom Delay would have snuck funding for body armor into a Congressional bill at 4:00 in the morning, instead of sneaking 1.5 billion in pork-barrel goodies for Exxon and Halliburton. Congress and this president have hung our troops out to die in Iraq for profit and lies. Paying lip service and putting made-in-China plastic "support the president and our troops" stickers on your car and threatening protestors will not change that.
Cadmus advised: "Let's not repeat the mistakes of our past. I urge all Americans to rally around our armed forces and remember our fellow Americans who were viciously murdered on Sept. 11, 2001."
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. The Bush Administration allowed, even rewarded those who attacked us on 9/11. Saudi royals financed their training and supplied the men who attacked us. Osama Bin Forgotten, the man Bush will no longer even pretend to look for, is a Saudi royal. The Saudi's and Osama hated American bases on Saudi soil. The Saudis hated Saddam's secular government. Bush rewarded the Saudi's attack on us by taking out their sworn enemy, Iraq, for them. Now we have permanent bases in Iraq, which will now be another Islamic theocracy, which will only benefit... Saudi Arabia. Think about that while you're filling up your gas tank at $3.00 plus/per gallon. Bush has done everything but wrap it all up in pretty paper and ribbons, all for his buddies, the people responsible for the attack us on September 11, 2001. How many more of our kids should die for that? Mr. Cadmus, you are not making our troops safer by refusing to see the lies they are dying for. You are just ensuring that more of them will die before we get out of there. And for what? To make a repressive dictatorship, Saudi Arabia, the most powerful force in the Middle East, with a growing number of equally repressive Islamic states, now to include Iraq, at it's beck and call.

Just got and watched my DVD named: "Hijacking Catastrophe: 9/11, Fear And The Selling Of American Empire".
Every BuzzFlash reader should get this DVD and watch it with your friends.
Then get your Republican neighbors or relatives to watch it and have their eyes opened and cotton removed from their ears!
May I suggest that all those who are holding their "ANTI Cindy Sheehan" or "Pro-Bush Signs" in Crawford, SIGN UP FOR THE ARMY or MARINES.
After all, I hear that Bush and The Neo-Cons need more bodies and they could care less if to get killed in Iraq. How ironic that these same Neo-Cons who avoided the military themselves, have NO PROBLEM getting others killed.
All of this and some guy named Osama bin Laden (remember him?), must be laughing in his cave at Bush and our Country. How Sad!!
Subject: Choose Your Mother
My mother hollered at me and cried when I told her I was joining up. It was 1965. She brightened a little when I reassured her that enlisting was less dangerous than getting drafted.
Broke from a couple of years of college, I knew I was finished with school for awhile, and the Army was waiting for all of us and grabbing Friends of mine at an alarming rate. My mother went along with my decision, but only because I had so few options. I wouldn't have wanted her to pat me on the back proudly and send me off to war, and she didn't. None of the mothers did, that I ever heard of. My comrades and I never got shot at, and we never had to shoot at anybody, so our tour turned out to be a safe haven, but out mothers worried anyway.
Cindy Sheehan must have relived my entire mother's anxious moments, but her worst fears were realized. Her boy died far from home, and now she's asking for an accounting why that had to happen. Why were American kids facing bullets in Baghdad? Why were they so poorly equipped? Who led them into ambush? Should we trust these kids'? commanders with more lives? She's demanding answers. In a speech a couple of days ago, the supreme commander pointed with satisfaction to another mother who has several sons in combat. They're all alive, but the president says she's confident that if one of them dies, the lucky young man will perish for a good cause. This mother will probably change her tune if the conflict claims one of her kids, but it looks like she did what I'm glad my mother didn't do. She sent her children off to the killing fields with a pat on the back and a proud smile.
If you were a soldier, which kind of mother would you rather have?

Subject: This Needs To Be said…
And I hope that the people of Buzzflash will not let these comments die in the mailbag but will put them up on the front page so that all the people I am addressing it to can see it, and hopefully do something, for a change.
I am a 66 year old veteran that is totally P. O'd with the Democratic leadership, the DNC, the Dem leaders, politico, Senators, Congressmen and Women and all the others that should be standing up and laying into the Bush administration, every second, every minute of every day.
During, and since, the presidential campaign our side has been handed one great opportunity after another to lay into the neo cons, trample them, expose them and literally drive them out of power…but instead, our leaders have played the part of scared little wimps and after an occasion sortie, with a few words, they fall back and DO NOTHING... SAY NOTHING, and let the neo con Rovians take control, lie, deceive and manipulate the American public.
In the past few weeks we have been given many more opportunities to hit them hard and no one from our side has stood tall and had the cojones to come forth and lay into Bush and his cronies.
The entire democratic congress, all congressmen, all Senators should be standing on the steps of the U S Capitol asking Mister Bush exactly WHAT IS THE NOBLE CAUSE, but no, they have let that opening pass by the wayside and in the hands of a grieving mother.
They could have laid into them today when their American Legion came out with the pro Bush letter and our side could have hit every airwave and newspaper with the letter they send Bill Clinton in 1999 with exactly the OPPOSITE comments. Hypocrisy in the highest degree.
But no, they do nothing... and that too will pass out of the minds of all Americans.
Our leaders need to STOP BEING MISTER NICE GUYS, NICE GUYS FINISH LAST AND THEY ARE PROVING IT.
I was the leader of the "Kerry Hawks" on the official Johnkerry.com message board during the campaign. I fought for a stronger and hard-hitting campaign, but my thoughts went nowhere... and we lost.
It is time again to get off our arses and begin to attack.
The other side has given us more and more ammunition... Stop playing footsy with them, stand up and be counted and PULL THE TRIGGERS... Don't let them get away with it anymore.
Heavens to Mergatroid. Are all you hipsters suffering from amnesia, too?? Are you forgetting that the DLC is the Republican center? Or as some have referred to them, as Republican Light. We best recognize that DLC stands for Democrats Love Corporations.
Are we forgetting that the DLC is the Corporate Wing of the Democratic Party? The point is simple. The DLC is just as willing to send you grandma down the river as any Neo-Con. They were willing to support the hideous sanctions on Iraq and allow a million Iraqis to die. They were just as willing to use depleted uranium as Bush 1 and Bush 2. They just like different music, that's all. They live to rub shoulders with the same corporate moguls as the Republican right. Have we forgotten that Hillary was in cahoots with the same law firm that opened the American door to BCCI while she was in Little Rock. And you are waiting for leaders from this bunch? Even Kerry, sad to say, who thoroughly broke my heart with his heartless response to the Ohio debacle, cannot be trusted anymore. Fucker blew my mind with his vacuous ness. Big money does that I guess.
Of course you haven't forgotten this. The readership of this page is probably the smartest readership in the States. And we all share a frustration. We can blame the press all we want, and boy, should they ever be blamed. But the only democrat making any news out there of any consequence is Pat Fitzgerald who seems to be an incredibly competent sort -- hope and pray, hope and pray. And he's a Republican. But like Judge Walsh of Iran-Contra fame, I would vote for Fitz in a hot second. Ideology is a weak second (more like tenth) to a good old sense of justice and fair play.
(One of these days I hope the editor(s) of this page are awarded their own Wings of Justice award by an appropriate outsider. And any other award that celebrates democracy, justice and free minds.

If I had a family member who was a soldier in Iraq, but died, and never said one thing I felt before about him being there (Out of respect for troop morale), and then finally out of being upset because of his death couldn't control my tongue anymore, then would I go to prison or be executed for treason? That is what it seems would be the next step. This past week with all that Bush and Co. are doing to try to undo Camp Casey and everything else it seems to me they are very, very desperate and will try any despicable thing they know of. I think they know they are caught in a corner so to speak and can't think of anyway to get out, so they try to trick their way out. What do you all think? URL:

GOP political scandals have been falling like cluster bombs since November of 2000 yet amidst all the shock and awe, George was re-elected. Go figure.
We all know about G.W. Bush. Leaks, lies, fixed elections. Torture, cheating, broken treaties. WMD's, uranium purchases from Africa. Dead Soldiers.
We all know about his buddies. Halliburton, Enron, The Bilderbergers, Skulls and Bones... Baker, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfewitz, Pearl, Rove, Libby, DeLay... Projects to dominate the courts. Projects to dominate the world. A new world order with dead soldiers all around. How much more shock can we take?
Is there anyone left in the world who doesn't know that "US National Security" and "US National Interests" means "US control of World oil." Does anyone not know that the plan is to get it and keep it... by using military strength?
Focus people. George Bush can't run for re-election. It's time to bring on new mud and new fear.
Who other than Condi, has not slipped in the polls? Who other than Ms. Rice, can keep George's promise to stay the PNAC course? What exactly has Ms. Rice said about Hugo Chavez? What are her thoughts on regime change? Is she for or against military coups? Is she for or against the sale of Venezuelan oil to China? Does she really believe that elected leaders have the right to use their Country's resources, as they wish?
How will US military strength keep the new world order, when it comes to China. Talk about not having an end plan...
