Subject: A Letter to Our Troops from One Angry American
Dear Soldiers in Iraq & Afghanistan,
While you brave the terrors of war, the man who sent you there is taking yet ANOTHER vacation, enjoying the splendors of his celebrity and privileged upbringing. We, the true patriots of this beloved Republic, apologize for his unacceptable behavior, for his ignorance, his apathy, his war profiteering, his laziness, & for sending you to fight with no real clear plan in mind.
George Bush is a pop star, not a president. Instead of showing real concern for the people he was "elected" to protect, instead of giving you the weapons & armor you need, instead of finding Osama bin Laden, instead of lowering gas prices, instead of working to get you home safely, instead of attending funerals for the fallen, he takes a vacation from it all & with cameras in tow, he acts like he is on a reality show.
We apologize for his arrogance, but after all, he has never fought in a war, he knows nothing about being a soldier, about risking it all. He has never wanted for anything. When it was his time to serve, he used his family's influence to hide from combat. He's a coward. And for all those that scream support for this "quagmire," but haven't enlisted, allowing the Rich, the Powerful, & the Politicians, to keep sending the Poor to fight their wars, well, we're sorry for that too.
George Bush is a pop star. You are all heroes. The line will never be blurred between the two as long as true patriots speak out. It's the least we can do. And I will continue to exercise this right, my duty, to not go silently.
Signed, One Angry American
Subject: Analysis of Bush Reading
Great piece about Bush reading up on Tsar Alexander II.
Far more frightening to me, however, is one of his other three choices: a history of the worldwide flu epidemic, which killed millions before it petered out. In my not so humble opinion, this reading selection is a clarion call to anyone with eyes open.

"Explain why to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?" --Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99
"[The] President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy." --Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)
"American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy." --Rep Tom DeLay (R-TX)
"If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy." --Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of George W Bush
"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area." --Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)
"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today" --Rep Tom DeLay (R-TX)
"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is." --Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

Subject: A Face in the Crowd
For whatever it's worth, I recently watched A Face In The Crowd. Andy Griffith's performance was amazing. In this movie, I put him up there with people like Sean Penn.
Subject: Charles Dreyling Vs Travis Biehn
I would like an answer to this question: Why does Dreyling come off as a typical "white boy" who likes to see things explode while Biehn, who lives in Pennsylvania and is equally white, is a terrorist?
Prankster or threat to U.S.? (metronews.ca)
Would something like, not American, have something to do with it? If you jail a seventeen year old Canadian boy for having some of the elements required for building bombs, why do you not jail an American boy who did have all the necessary elements for building a bomb? Dual standards at play here and very much noticed by us in Canada. How not to make friends and influence other countries.
By the way, I am still pissed off at the audacity of the American drug enforcement people and justice department over demanding the extradition of a Canadian citizen, Marc Emory.
Canada's "Prince of Pot" nabbed for U.S. seed sales (Seattle Times)
I am equally angry at your fundamentalist religious right trying to impose American style fasco-religion on Canadians. Creating 'missions' in Canada, are all these people for real? Those missionaries to Canada happened to decimate thousands of indigenous Canadians in their campaign to bring christianity (meh!) to the 'poor heathens.' Go away and leave us alone!

Thank you BuzzFlash, for showing that not all Americans think alike and thank you Buzzers for proving it endlessly to those of us who have never liked the great white, pushy, "American Way."
Subject: John Roberts CBS News
Tonight, in reporting about the pope's visit to Germany, Roberts said, "the pope grew up in Germany and is trying to ..."
Wait John! he didn't just "grow up" in Germany like I "grew up" in the 50's. He was a very active member of the Hitler Youth in Nazi Germany during WWII which he has refused to discuss! But, I guess John, let's rewrite history simply by omission, by not reporting accurately those significant details. What then was the pope doing while he "grew up" in Germany? Just singing Edelweiss, drinking lemonade and skipping off to the mountains to yodel? In fact you could have made the point during your report about his visit to a Jewish Synagogue why that was significant: A former Hitler Youth Officer who is now the Pope visits the Synagogue in Cologne Germany which had been destroyed in WWII, for example. Just tell the truth, for the sake of all those who died.
Subject: What Would Casey Think?
There was some talk about a commentator that thought she knew how Casey Sheehan would feel about his mother camped out in Crawford, Texas. She thought that he probably would not approve of it.
I don’t know how she would know that, but I do know that a son would not want his mother to be bad-mouthed and criticized on TV and the Internet. I know that a fallen soldier’s heart would break to see, from above, his mother trying to be discredited by the people that he sacrificed his life for. It is very sad.

''He had a little explosive device," Humphreys said of Dreyling, "and boys like to see things go bang.... I have every confidence that they'll find out Charlie Dreyling is a fine young man and no terrorist."
I suggest he satisfy his explosion lust and volunteer for deployment to Iraq asap. And that POS Humphreys ought to go with him.
Let me tell you my story about our glorious TSA safeguards....
Last fall my mother was dying 3,000 miles away. My father had been buried in a veteran's cemetery with full military honors just the year before.
When my only sibling, my sister, called to tell me I'd better get home before it was too late I spent the next several hours trying to get a flight and pack and then drive the 31/2 hours to the airport.
I was treated wonderfully by United Airlines and given an open-ended return date on my ticket, which clearly was marked as a medical emergency flight because I had no way to know how long I would be gone.
I drove to the airport praying I'd make it in time to say goodbye...something I had not been able to do on my father's death.
I was grateful that I got there in time. My mother died with me holding her hand less than 72 hours later.
After the arrangements and the funeral I booked my return flight.
It did not occur to me that because I had purchased an open return-date ticket that I would now become one of the targeted for a thorough security search. I was flagged for a special, thorough search and made to wait in a line that dragged on for nearly an hour.
Understand that my ticket was listed as a medical emergency ticket. Understand that I did not set off any bells or whistles when they finally allowed me to walk through the security frame....what with both my parents dying within the last two years I had made over a dozen trips from and to the same locations and I knew the drill. No jewelry, keys, coins. Sandals that I removed. A sleeveless top, bra, panties and jeans. Nothing in the carry-on. Not even my tweezers.
Understand that I was delayed so long in that special line that I missed my flight. I begged them to please just notify the gate. Emotionally spent, with tears in my eyes, I finally demanded to know why I was being singled out as neither I nor my carry-on bag had set off any alarm.
The second page for me to report to the gate was announced as I said this and the next thing I knew, a very large man with a billy club came over to me and stood very close and asked, "Is there a problem here?"
I said, "Yes! I just buried my mother and my flight is leaving. I don't understand why I'm being patted down! I didn't set off any alarms and I'm going to miss my plane!"
He looked at the woman who was preparing to search me and said, "Do we have a problem here?"
At that moment I knew I had two choices. I could protest and be taken away and miss my plane until the goons finally released me.
Or I could acquiesce and hope I could still make my flight. I chose the latter.
Since then I have reflected on the incident over and over.
Had I not just been through the death and burial of my mother I would have summoned all my strength and done what my father, a veteran of two wars who made the Army and then the Air Force and then Civil Service his entire life, would have expected me to do. I would have stood up to these thugs and made myself an example if nothing else. How dare they!
But I didn't. All I wanted was to get home. I'd lost both parents in less than two years and both in-laws during the same time period. I had nothing left in me to fight the bastards. And they would not have cared in any event.
I missed my flight of course. Because I fly out of a small airport on the coast of Northern California, the next leg of my attempt to return home turned into a three-day nightmare because the flight I was forced to take due to the delay could not land due to fog that commonly delays the later flights and it returned to the Bay Area. I spent the night in a hotel and after an entire day of trying to get on a flight on stand-by, I ended up carpooling with another group stranded by the weather and got home at 2am two days later.
On top of that, my car and luggage were at the airport and my husband was out of town.
Three days later I finally was able to retrieve them.
And all of this because of some demented TSA bullshit rules that leave no room for accommodation or common sense.
Freedom? Liberty? Justice?
Empty words in this bushco America.
I thought I had put all of this behind me, bundling it with the grief and sorrow of losing my other parent so soon on the heels of losing the first one.
And then I read the story about the harmless intentions of the good little boy with the pipe bomb.
My fury at the injustice and the outrage I feel defies description.
I will tell you this. I will NEVER be detained, searched or humiliated by my own government EVER again.
My father, my Vietnam Veteran Marine husband and my Desert Storm son did not put their lives on the line and suffer the wounds they came home with so that I could be frisked, threatened, intimidated and stripped of my rights as an American citizen with nothing to hide and posing ZERO threat to my country simply because my mother died on her own schedule.
One of the the things my wonderful father never failed to remind anyone listening was from Ben Franklin and I'll paraphrase, as he did:
Those that would give up liberty for security will have neither and they will deserve neither.
Are you listening?

Subject: Evolution and the Neanderthals
I have come to the conclusion that the whole planet is comprised of people who get it and people who don't.
Off the coast of a Hawaiian island, a renowned scientist demonstrates how humans can pump icy water from 3000 feet below the ocean and supply virtually limitless fresh water, irrigation, electricity, air conditioning and more without harm to the environment and without cost as a factor because there is virtually no cost.
In another corner of our planet, minds far more brilliant than mine believe they have figured out how to manipulate the speed of light.
The ramifications of just these two discoveries are unfathomable. They portend and indeed promise a gateway to an entirely different existence on this planet and perhaps on planets beyond. Imagine the impact of stepping into the natural cycle of energy to satisfy basic human needs, freeing all to expand their minds and endeavors, not chained to corporate jobs that suck the life out of their very souls, leaving them with goals that can only focus on how they will pay for the nursing home looming in their future.
We work, after all, nearly all of us, in order to obtain the basic requirements to sustain life: water, shelter and food. If we did not have to devote the vast majority of our existence to simply covering those basic needs, what might we accomplish? What contributions could we make to the human race?
The answers are in our face. All we have to do is stop being blinded by the corporate bullshit greed that tortures our planet and kills life on every level it touches.
There is light and there is dark. These are universal forces. Even the self-proclaimed Christians acknowledge this concept. It's never too late to abandon the darkness and turn to the light. The light is knowledge, compassion and above all truth. And the truth shall set you free. You "Christians" listening? Or are you too busy bashing other humans and hoping someone will kill them all on your behalf so you can dance on their graves and claim you won? Is this what your Christ preached? Have you learned nothing in over 2000 years?
Apparently not. If and when He returns he will be just as disgusted as he was before. The blind still do not see and the deaf refuse to hear.
I do not doubt for a moment that there are myriad other breakthroughs occurring all over the globe as we speak and that is why I have not lost all hope in humanity, regardless of the current situation the dark forces have fostered.
The brutes will continue their barbaric bloodletting. There is no other way to describe it. There is no excuse for any of it. All it is is dull-witted unevolved humans doing the the brutal thing for brutal evil masters whom they worship without reservation and defend almost to the death. Not quite to the death or they'd all have enlisted to fight in Iraq. Other brutes must surrender their lives. The truly heinous warmongers are far too busy and important to risk their own.
Bloodsport. Killing. Hatred. Foaming at the mouth mania. Killing for peace, slaughtering for justice...it's all the same. A throwback to our evolutionary past wherein we were little more than self-serving survivalists. If ever there was a justification for evolution this would be compelling evidence!
The question that should be asked is how such savage aggressors survive and even thrive. It's because we allow it. It's because we look upon the lost, pathetic and tragic humans who have not and will not see the light, with pity and compassion because that is the next step to enlightenment. It is the word of Jesus Christ to turn the other cheek and forgive your enemies for they know not what they do.
They are stupid. The gospel tells us this. They are blind and dumb and stupid. They do horrific things to their neighbors when they only need treat others as they would have themselves treated. They wrap themselves in the cloak of Christ and the flag but they are so blind they do not see their hypocrisy. How can you not pity them? They spew hatred. They are very afraid because the light is very fearful. The light will kill them. And so they rail against it in increasingly awful exhibitions of mankind at his very worst. And we can only stand by until they self-destruct because hatred is all-consuming and self-destruction is inevitable.
Of course they glom onto this with glee and proclaim we are therefore some sort of weak lesser beings. But they are wrong. And we know they are wrong and in their little beating hearts even they know they are wrong.
We know they are wrong by their incredible defensive viciousness which has no justification. That in itself is confirmation.
Example: Larry Northern. His act of defiance was to tie a chain and pipe to his bumper and mow down the memorial crosses and the American flags that represented each of the dead soldiers who gave their lives in Iraq.
There really is not anything more to be said, is there? Is there any discussion at all? Does not the act speak plainly?
These people are to be pitied. They are sad examples of beings that have not progressed to intelligence and figured out that killing and bloodshed is not the way of Christ. It's not the way of peace. It's not the way of life. They embrace hatred and violence and congratulate themselves for supporting death and destruction. If Larry was a true patriot who honored his country, do you think he could intentionally mow down the American flag and the crosses of the dead soldiers who paid the ultimate price to support what he professes to believe in?
Sadly, he and his ilk are just too stupid to get it. That's the only conclusion one can reach.
Somewhere along the line in our history, we began to confuse wealth with brains.
We started to accept that people who made a great deal of money and power were somehow superior.
That people who espoused hatred using the guise of patriotism or God were righteous and justified and once they convinced themselves of those idiotic notions they considered them license to spew more hatred and espouse more killing and bloodshed. They continue to beat the drum that power is money and money is power. In their mindless pursuit of ever more money, ever more power, they mow down all that is decent and human, just like Larry mowing down the crosses.
They are neanderthals. That pretty much sums up why they hate the theory of evolution.
They are their own best proof of it.

Subject: A Call To Duty for All Chickenhawks! Let's Vote and Back It up!
Well, it's decided we can't do what we wanted to do, whatever it was we wanted to do, to show the world what we wanted to tell them, whatever it was we wanted to tell them, in Iraq (over there).
so, we got a choice. cut and run. or throw more folks over there to slaughter them before they slaughter us over here. but, nothing is really stopping them from coming over here now. but, if we go chasing them over there with more of us over there, more of us are going to get slaughtered over there.
most of them over there didn't know we were their enemy until we went over there. but, since we are over there, they know it now and don't like us much, because we are over there and bothering them over there. still about 40% of us say we are for the war. I say we take a national vote. who wants to fight and who doesn't have a gripe with people half way around the world. those voting for it will have a plane waiting straight to Baghdad. those voting against it can defend our homeland. that way, everybody gets to be involved one way or another. that should make everybody happy. all of a sudden, the saying "either you are with us or against us" really means something. and, let us know who is "with us", but not just on paper but willing to go do something heroic.
that way, those wanting to fight them "over there" get their wish. those wanting to defend our homeland gets their wishes too.
bet we don't need to reserve too many airplanes to Baghdad. bet you can leave the 0 off of 40% approval.
it is so easy to say "go get them boys and girls," if you don't have to do it yourself.
when it hits home, the attitude changes.

KARL ROVE ASKED TO RESIGN
Bush was pressured into asking for Rove’s resignation, but the conversation went very poorly for the president: It went like this:
Pres. Bush: Ahem, Karl, you know I promised I would stand behind you cause you’ve done so much for me and my career. But you know, the whole country is asking for your resignation, and I feel we gotta let you go, cut our losses and move forward here. After all, what you done was illegal.
Karl Rove: You know, Mister President, I’ve never spoken to you very frankly before, but I’ll tell you how we stand here. I’m not going to resign, and if you think you can make me resign, I’ll have you in so much hot water you’ll wish you had never met me. Here’s what I’ll do: I’ll report to the press on meetings I attended when you were offered campaign funds by every corporation in the country--Fox News for favors by the FCC, Monsanto for favors by the FDA, Ford Motor for favors from the EPA, Halliburton and other defense contractors, to get us into this stupid war, drug manufacturers, insurance corporations, oil companies, you name it.
And how do you think the country would respond if I let them know how happy you all were in the White House for the first few days after 9-11? And I’ll suggest they look into the fact that you fired no one for the greatest security disaster in the history of the country--not a pilot, not a squadron leader, not a commanding general, not an air traffic controller, not one Pentagon officer -- wouldn’t that seem strange to the press and the citizenry? Would you like me to go on?
You know, Mr. President, your problem is that you have never had to pay for your mistakes. You’ve always had your old man or some other rich a**-hole coming to bat for you -- to get you into Yale, Harvard, to fix your insider trading crimes, for bailing out your failed oil companies, for fixing your drug arrests. You’ve never had to face up to your failures. Now I’m not going to be the fall guy for this latest failure of yours. You fire me, and there is no a**-hole rich enough to get you off the hook for crimes I can report about you.
Not only will I not resign, but you can increase my salary by 50% as of the beginning of next year.
Now if the question comes up in the press conference, just tell those journalists that you’re not firing Karl Rove. And when you talk about Jesus being your salvation, just keep in mind that it is Karl Rove, not Jesus, who is saving your ass.
And I don’t want to hear any more about this.”

Dionysus wrote, "The repairing of a legacy has officially begun ... (a video clip from MSNBC's Hardball, where they state an absurd case that likens George to Harry Truman)."
What is so "absurd" about this? Truman preemptively and unnecessarily dropped atomic bombs on two Japanese cities in 1945. He killed and maimed thousands of innocent Japanese. FuriousGeorge has preemptively and unnecessarily dropped bombs on two Arab countries, Afghanistan and Iraq, during the past 4 years. He has killed and maimed thousands of innocent Afghanis and Iraqis.
So the comparison is valid. Only it took Truman just a few days to do his damage. FuriousGeorge is taking years to 'accomplish his mission' of slaughter.
Subject: Damage Control by Hughes
I laughed out loud when I read of the damage control Karen Hughes is supposed to do around the globe. Sometimes the damage is unfixable and therefore, skip the Band-Aids, the item must be replaced.
Your present administration is a leaking battery so corrupt that it corrodes all that touch it and must be thrown out to be replaced by one that renews trust in the operability of the object, be it a car or a flashlight, or a government. Acid can eat away everything given time and that time has come.
None of your present hopefuls in the Dem's side has a hope in hell of regaining the trust of many in other nations of the world. You will have to do much to repair the erosion. Subject: Four More Years?
So now the line is that we will be in Iraq at our current troop levels four more years?
Now, of course the story doesn't mention US troop deaths, and especially how many have taken place there this month.
Let's say that 100 of our troops perished this month on Bush's Grand Adventure Ride (not an E ticket). I think it's more than that, but I don't have figures handy.
12 months in a year = 1200 troops in a year.
Four more years = 4800 troops dead IF the insurgency doesn't crank up the volume.
THAT is what we need to tell the protesters yelling at the Camp Casey citizens.- Are you ready for your kids to be some of the 4800?
