Subject: Fuel Prices
Has the pResident in Chief made any comments about rising fuel prices and the effect on low income and middle class families? Gas prices are affecting many Americans ... causing them to make decisions about whether to spend their earnings on gas or food or even medicine.
If this had happened on Clinton's watch, I'm sure that the Repubs would blame it on him and would have used this (instead of Monica) to drive him from office. At least Clinton would go on the TV and tell us that he "feels our pain"! But what can we expect with two oil men (thieves) in the White House?
[BuzzFlash Note: Sen. Schumer has asked Bush "to use the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to bring down record-high gas prices." But btcnews.com reports that Bush's response is to offer gas conservation tips to consumers (i.e., "Suck it up!"). Meanwhile, in Florida, Gov. Jeb "said gas prices show the need for a long-term energy strategy." Is he saying the recently signed Cheney Energy Bill is worthless -- to consumers, that is?]
Subject: The Coward of Crawford
Since George W. Bush lacks the moxie to come out and meet with the grieving mother of one of his human sacrifices in Iraq, I'd like to propose a new nickname for him:
"The Coward of Crawford"
Subject: Cindy Sheehan & Bush
Dear Mr. Bush,
She scares you. Admit it. Cindy Sheehan is so relentless, so self-assured, so in-your-face. How dare she challenge your vacation time, your fund-raising time, your clean-the-brush-from the ranch-time?. And all those white crosses, good God, hide them, crush them, bury them. You can't allow the war to be brought home to the American public with the face of a mother who lost a son in your oil war. You can't let the public see what the toll really is, that the goal is about oil, has been about oil always and amen. No, no, she's a nightmare and you have to keep Americans focused on what's important, all those slick lies about the connection between 9/11 and Iraq. You have to keep the public well supplied with the Jim Jones Kool-Aid, your slime machine, your Fox News bulletins.
But it looks like one lone woman grieving for a son in your amoral war has galvanized a sleeping nation. Think of it. Just think of it. Cindy is the face of that solitary man in Tiananmen Square so many years ago. She is Nelson Mandela braving thirty years of prison. She is Martin Luther King marching toward freedom. She is the true face of democracy, your nemesis, Mr. Bush, and the symbol of a country reclaiming its freedom.

Subject: Regarding: Diary of a White House Sociopath
Please be very aware -- if you choose to stay with this person, one day you will find yourself quietly watching him -- as he is passed out on your sofa in a stupor. His business suite will be gone, and in its place will be the classic yellowed "wife-beater" tee shirt, a couple of empty beer bottles on the floor, and the TV remote dangling from his hand. And you will be afraid to make any noise for fear he will wake up!
To all you needy right-wing conservative persons still searching for security -- that are still "in love" with this guy, still believe that Bush is basically a good "Christian" man you can trust -- face it! You are in a dead end relationship with an abusive disturbed loser, he is just starting to wake up -- and it is about to get real ugly.

Subject: Why just Saddam?
Why should something have been done with Saddam and not all the other dictators around the world that are suppressing their people, mass murdering opponents, starving their people and, for all we know, building WMDs?
Why just Saddam?
Let me tell you why...because since 1992 George Herbert Walker Bush and all of his administration had held a personal grudge against Saddam Hussein for what happened in Gulf War I and for the assassination plot Saddam tried to carry out on him.
But, he got un-elected by Bill Clinton, something he did not expect......so he had to wait eight years to get his revenge and fulfill his vendetta. And what better way to do it than to use simplistic little Georgy as his tool?
He got Karl Rove to provide the slime to get Georgy on the ticket. He even had his buddy and accomplice, Dick Cheney, go out and fake that he was looking for a good VP candidate knowing that he would come back and tell Georgy that he found the perfect candidate, himself. This was set up by Daddy Bush so Dicky Boy could keep the reign on Georgy.
Then he used his CIA operatives in Florida to create turmoil and get the Supreme Court to hear the case, knowing that the final decision was already bought and paid for.
Now that Georgy was president, he could be manipulated to do daddy's work. Daddy made sure that all of his cronies surrounded little Georgy, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Cheney, Armitage, Rove, Powell, and others, so that Georgy could not screw up and NOT want to bomb the crap out of Saddam, kill him, and take over the country...FOR REVENGE, and FOR OIL.
But how the heck were they going to get the American people to go along with it? That was the big problem.
Problem no more...along came 9/11...as the WTC was attacked by terrorists led by former Saudi citizen (you know, Saudi Arabia, the good friends of the Bush family)....and the key was there.
We did go to Afghanistan, but if you remember, according to Richard Clarke, Rummy, Cheney and even Bush were all yelling the words Iraq, and Saddam, all over the White House and the Pentagon long before 9/11 happened.
So they had the opportunity to divert everything from the real target, Bin Laden and Afghanistan, and moved to Iraq, where they could fulfill daddy's vendetta, get the oil, get Saddam, and their grudge would be taken care of...NO MATTER WHAT THE RISK, NO MATTER HOW MANY DIED.
They never expected the quagmire we are in, they thought they could get in quickly, kill Saddam and his sons, and it would all be over.
Now they just don't know how to get out, so they continue to lie, they continue to deceive, they continue to slime and manipulate the entire American population.
How much longer can it be before America wises up, as has most of the free world, and demands that Bush be dragged out from his throne and article 25 of the United States Constitution is thrown at him...and have him removed as President? Tomorrow is not soon enough.

Hello again Buzzers,
I just wanted to respond to all those insightful writers who commented on Bush's psychological condition by referring them, and anyone else who may be interested, to the Capital Hill Blue website to read Doug Tompson's (of The Rant) article entitled "Is Bush out of Control?" Mr. Thompson paints a very telling picture of a pseudo-president who may indeed be "losing it."
Buzz on BuzzFlash, and keep up the great work!
P.S. By the way, when I saw the picture of all those crosses deliberately torn down and scattered all over the ground, one of my first thoughts was "they are spitting on our dead!"
Its time to pressure Lance Armstrong to pull out of his ride with Bush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always say you do wonders for progressive people and I hope you do it again.
I read lots of the mail you get from very frustrated individuals who hope our Senators and Congress people are reading these letters. I wish they were. Maybe someone who works for them do, I don't know, but a letter to them might do the trick.
I know there are email addresses for these Senators and Congress people and if you could publish them, perhaps your readers would email these people, and like in some cases I've read, send you a copy of these emails.
If we don't speak up, they won't hear us.
Thanks, Buzz, as always you're the greatest.

Subject: Bush Is Crazy.
Damn! Some one finally brought up the fact that bush is a sociopath. I've thought and said that for years. Bush also is a psychopathic liar. But I do not think he believes his own lies.
Democrats, what are you going to do about installing a fair, verifiable voting system before 2006? We have been waiting for five and one half years now! When ?
As a MINUTEMAN who has attended many meetings and read and replied to hundreds of e-mails concerning our agenda and actions, I have never heard, not one single time, a racist remark against any race. Racists attempted to infiltrate our ranks, but were discovered and rebuked to the point of physicality.
A portrait of bush and laura was posted in our headquarters by some unknown individual. Our leaders upon seeing this tore the picture down and shredded it. Our fight was not with the Mexican poor who were hungry and tired (we fed and watered many) but with vincente fox and his friend george bush,. They have along with corporate America, exploited the refugees of Mexico to the fullest extent. Yes, they are economic refugees, and most Americans would do as they have, in seeking a better life for themselves and their children.
Remember this though! "A nation that is not sovereign and proud of its heritage will not sustain the free voice of liberals or conservatives or progressives." Think about this before condemning!

Subject: To Cindy Sheehan
You came to Crawford to ask George Bush what was the noble cause that her son and so many other mothers died for. Cindy, here it is. In 1999, Bush described to Mickey Herskowitz, who was ghost writing his biography, his lifetime of underachievement compared to his father. At that time he expressed the belief that to be perceived as a great leader, one needs to be a seen as a commander-in-chief, therefore, start a war. That is the noble cause.

I think BuzzFlash contributor Elizabeth makes the same mistake that so many others do when they accept - or assume - that George W. Bush is actually responsible for anything of import that occurs in his administration.
Though no mental health professional, I find her analysis credible; I just think that, as far as Bush himself is concerned, "emotional retardation" pretty much covers it. I do believe there are psychopaths - more than one - in the White House; I just think Bush probably isn't one of them.
He simply doesn't possess the "considerable intelligence" Elizabeth alludes to, or the organizational faculties to formulate and put into practice the policies which characterize this administration. Take a look at the DubyaSpeak website some time. The quotes to be found there can't be explained by a simple clumsiness with words or verbal dyslexia. They are the remarks of a person who truly doesn't know what he's talking about or trying to say. He often can't sustain a single idea for the length of time it takes to finish a sentence.
In short, no one could say the things he does and not be an idiot. I know there are those who claim it's all an act designed to induce others to underestimate him. The answer to that was best put by Groucho Marx 70-odd years ago: "He may look like an idiot, and talk like an idiot, but don't let that fool you; he really is an idiot."

Down through the ages it's been mostly "if one can't do nothin about the way things are why the hell try?" and for the most part this outlook, has served us well. Seems like we've each got this built-in resistance to too quickly jumping on the band-wagon and that said resistance breaks down only in the most extraordinary of times (such as now) when suddenly the heretofore unimaginable becomes so easily doable, inspiring we the people forthwith to change the world.

Subject: This is such a misrepresentation of facts about the Casey camp!!
Good grief!! When I was there -- Sat. late night, Sunday and Monday, there were no traffic jams!! A few cars an hour. Mostly a shuttle was used by Cindy's supporters. After 9 or even earlier, there were virtually no cars at all. In fact, it was so dead when I got there Sat. night, I had no idea where the Peace House OR the camp was. I sure could not tell by the traffic. There was NO traffic going anywhere!! And that was in a town of 700, so if there were ANY traffic, it would obviously be going where the "action" was!!
This article contradicts itself. It says "dozens" of people. How can "dozens" make traffic jams??
There were not "dozens" of people. There were, at times, hundreds of people, but no traffic jams that I saw. Not even close. Cindy's supporters divided their time between the Peace House and Camp Casey, so you never knew how many people were there at one time. AND most people on both sides were very polite most of the time. There were no shouting matches while I was there. A few Bush supporters drove by the Peace House and yelled for us to go home. The people who live in Crawford and were at the Peace House yelled back "We are home!" Yesterday a Bush supporter sang a little ditty over and over again for hours. Something to the effect of "Giving aid and comfort to the enemy, how many ghosts have you made today?" No one said anything.
"Hundreds of crosses??" I would imagine there is a cross for every soldier who has died. Which is over 1850 by now. There were also crosses in preparation waiting to be inscribed with the names of those who had recently died, but whose names had not yet been released.
Sometimes people stood in the road. But that lasted no longer than it does on a street. They were shooed out by those of us who knew they could not stand in the road OR if they saw a vehicle was coming they moved. Mostly they were careful to stay out of the way in the first place. The roads, in any event, were lightly traveled farm roads like the ones at home.
Traffic nightmare, how ridiculous!!! The most traffic there would probably have been last Saturday. I was not there for that. The media trucks were probably MOST of the little bit of "traffic problem" there may have been. But I never saw any evidence of any "problem" on Sunday or Monday. From what I saw, I find it very unlikely there could have ever been much of a problem.
The Dallas paper made it sound as though the Bush crowd was bigger than the crowd of people with Cindy. Which was a BIG misrepresentation, since when I was there, at least, there were many times as many people in Cindy's camp.
And when Bush met with Cindy before, he acted like he was at a party.
A lot has changed since Casey died. The administration's lies have become much more evident and exposed. Also, Cindy is no longer in shock. She knows, now, that Casey died for a lie.
God bless the man who is going to let them use his land!!
When Terri Schiavo demonstrators showed up, the media cut to them every time any one of them opened their mouths, and there were almost no demonstrators for that. There are a lot more at this camp out. But the media is not cutting to them every half hour as they did for the Schiavo demonstrators. However, these people are not protesting. No one is chanting or anything. They have signs up is all. They are just there in solidarity with Cindy.
The media is hopeless. But we knew that. They have been tearing Cindy apart. As she said. If they had questioned Bush before the war the way they have questioned her, we would not have gone to war. Her son would not be dead.
Most of the people there were anti THIS war. MOST were veterans or families of soldiers. However, calling them protestors is wrong because they were not protesting. There were signs up at the camp. But signs are SILENT, and the people were very restrained. INCREDIBLE!!

Subject: And Condi said, let there be democracy, in Iraq, in 7 days, and it will be so ...
Well, the Bush administration believes God created the world in 7 days, so this should be a snap -- or as they said in 2002 -- a cake walk. A very bloody cake walk to be sure, but one we can all have a piece of for celebrating.
Condi is such a kidder, but we believe her this time. It doesn't matter that she said this war would be brief, that we would find WMD, and that we didn't want a mushroom cloud for a smoking gun.
Subject: The banality of evil
The pure unrestrained glee of the greedy as they revel in their plunders is on full display in this article. Keep in mind this is George Bush's coveted "base" with whom he shares a deep love of oil profits and corresponding contempt for those on meager incomes who are being financially walloped by this unremitting rapacious pillaging of the American public. They are after all the "haves and have mores."
My favorite sociopathic quote from the article:
But of course, Mr. Gafke, the death of hundreds of thousands maybe millions pales in importance to the profits that you stand to make from all the killing and destruction. That quote speaks volumes about the type of people that work for Halliburton. No doubt its former CEO, who still receives compensation from the company while moonlighting as Vice President, shares your world view.
Subject: Cindy Sheehan
I just finished watching the video that BuzzFlash posted, regarding Cindy Sheehan's interview with Chris Matthews on MSNBC's "Hardball." As a practicing attorney, active civil litigator, newspaper columnist and TV talk show panelist who isn't afraid to take on the right wing, my own hat is still off to this woman. She dismantled every one of Chris Matthews' mendacious questions with calm, clear logic. Moreover, unlike many of us who tend to be far more pedagogical, she states her views in a down-to-earth, straightforward Abraham Lincolnesque/Will Rogers manner that is readily understood by every American. This woman does not purport to be an intellectual or a policy wonk, but good God almighty is she a brilliant and effective spokesman for middle America.
Why have we never heard this kind of talk from John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, et al.? It is an embarrassment and a national scandal. Moreover, Cindy is not fearful of letting the world know that she is a Democrat. Chris Matthews eagerly quoted the "family of Casey Sheehan" that has been so cooperative with the right-wing Drudge attack machine in providing quotes against Cindy. She pointed out that they are from her husband's side of the family; they have always been Republicans and she has always been a Democrat.
Wonderful; isn't that what America is supposed to be all about? In Cindy's words, she has always had a "good-natured disagreement" with them over politics.
In sum, I am very, very impressed by Cindy Sheehan. Couldn't we conscript this fine lady to run for something? After all, Carolyn Maloney won a congressional seat in New York after her husband was murdered by a subway shooter. It's just so impressive to me when I see strong, fearless and articulate women like Cindy Sheehan and Kristin Breitweiser (of 9/11 family fame) undauntingly confront the ferocious phalanx of the right-wing hit machine. The more these wacky Bush operatives try to "Swiftboat" Cindy Sheehan, the sillier they look.
And now, the wing nut who ran over the crosses outside of Crawford reminds me of the desperate Mississippi Klansmen who kidnapped Shwerner, Cheney and Goodman, voting rights activists, in 1965. Their murderous and hateful actions galvanized the heart and spirit of a nation against the vicious racial apartheid they were trying to save, and their own actions ultimately sealed the fate of their ugly and hateful cause.

There is so much in this mailbag...that it is mind boggling. To the Buzz reader who spoke of hearing Christopher Hitchens offering to go to Iraq physically if he could...but, certainly intellectually? Huh? Christopher Hitchens has a fried brain.....he is not intellectual....not a chance...and I am not sure he could do anything physical.
The Missy Comley Beattie letter was great....many of us feel the same thing...it is obvious from the mail. Most of us reading this website...in fact. I went through it 38 years ago... losing a brother in Vietnam....I always wondered how it could hurt more if it were your own child....and I see now...just how it can! My hurt has healed....but, it took a long time. At that time...I had not lost anyone I loved as much as Jack!
Joe Bacon....The Clint Black issue...and the celebration (I don't give a damn what Rummy calls it) it is glorifying the 911 attack. Clint Black has written a disgusting song...with all kinds of silly goose words, about "We've got Du...and OPs...and if that does not work we have lead'....something to that effect....see if you can find it...it will curl your hair!
I have checked out the CMT site...and can not find one thing about the Country Music set being involved...I just wonder how many negative letters they have gotten! The country music set....falls right in line as to people who follow Bush like sheeple. The only dems in country music...are....Rodney Crowell....and Emmylou Harris...basically people who came out of the California rock scene...in the seventies! Oh, sorry...my apologies to Willie...he played and sang at the Democratic convention....even dressed up!!
Colette, if you have ever seen the movie...Fahrenheit 9/11, watch with care the scene after Bush stole the election. When Gore, as Vice President and President of the Senate presided over the hearings of his own loss....It is so "Other worldly" you really cannot believe it. He bangs that mallet on the podium as each person of African descent gets up and tries to lodge complaints about what they felt was the disenfranchisement of African American voters! He drowned them out...would not allow debate of any kind, and would not even allow them to read statements if not signed by a senator, and none had! The senators, the protestors said, were missing! Rep...I think Maxine Waters...says, "It is signed by me...and I don't care if a senator has not signed!" And Gore says, "Well the court does care!" cutting her off! It, of course, was an attempt by the democrats to not be sore losers...but, sadly, they were not losers...and it did not make a damned bit of difference what we thought! And, admittedly, they all have their lifetime pensions, and wonderful health care, they, in a way do not care.
I took great care when picking a person to vote for in the 2004 election...and for that reason...because of the spine thing...I went with Howard Dean. The entire right-wing silliness about "please vote for this man" would not have made a damn bit of difference even if Gephardt, Kerry, and Lieberman had not slammed him...enough that he did not even win the primary ... that election was fixed, too!
So...yes....we must do something about our party. And the Dean/Boxer thing sounds like a winner to me...at least would have...but, since the Bush machine has gotten their claws into whatever they have that makes the numbers match whatever their agenda is, I have no hope...nothing at all...so far as a suggestion, even! I wonder now, if we will ever win another election...the media is so tuned in to this creepy bunch! And, people, they are destroying us...our earth...our way of life...everything!
If, by some chance...a Democrat was elected...how in God's name...could they ever straighten up this mess??
Yes, Shorty of Memphis.....how many times, indeed...do we have to turn the other cheek?

Subject: When Will We Get The Point?
We sit here hoping that the Iraqis' constitution will solve their civil war problem like throwing water on a fire. The fact of the matter is that these people have been fighting long before many of us were born and the only time they were not at war with each other is when Saddam ruled with an iron fist. Is the Bush administration ever going to realize that “you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear”? They will get the constitution drafted in Iraq but there will still be factions that do not agree with it and will refuse to adopt it.
The billions of American dollars that are continuing to be spent for this war would go a long way to help this country. Just think, if we invested a half of a trillion dollars into alternative energy research, we may not need to depend on Middle East oil. Maybe if we invested a half of a trillion dollars in medical research, we may have a cure for cancer, or AIDS, or some of the other diseases that are killing off the world population. Let’s hope and pray we have not squandered our money in vain!!

Just read your remarkable piece on the State Department warnings of 1996 on bin Laden to the Clinton Administration:
Subject: Al Franken Wants to 'Prevail' in Iraq
I guess I'm not surprised given the time he obsesses with the right-wing guests (eg AEI) on his show, and his reluctance to take up some issues such as the Ohio vote fraud, but Al Franken, who is 'culturally' left, said today that he believes that the US needs to 'prevail' in Iraq.
Then he mentioned the parents of Lance Cpl. Edward Schroeder II, who spoke out yesterday. They said either send more troops or get out now. But Al, oddly, only referred to one of these options, the 'send more troops.'
It confirms my impression that he's sort of a DLC/New Republic Democrat.
Exactly what is that... 'prevail'?
pre·vail (pr-vl) intr.v. pre·vailed, pre·vail·ing, pre·vails 1. To be greater in strength or influence; triumph: prevailed against the enemy. 2. To be or become effective; win out: hoped justice would prevail. 3. To be most common or frequent; be predominant: a region where snow and ice prevail. 4. To be in force, use, or effect; be current: an ancient tradition that still prevails. 5. To use persuasion or inducement successfully
Why not let the Iraqis 'prevail', Al?

Cindy Sheehan has been said to bring the Antiwar movement together. She has done that! WHY … because there IS a HUGE Antiwar movement to bring together. Bush, the Right, and Republicans fear this, as it exposes to America and the world their failure in Iraq! It also shows how really unpopular this war is and how this Anti-war movement is increasing in numbers each week! That does not translate too well for Bushies and Republicans as GWB approval numbers spiral downward!
Today 1858 of our soldiers have died or at least, that is the number they will admit to. The insurgents struck again with 3 bomb blasts as 43 more Iraqis died and 76 were injured in a coordinated act. We have heard Operations Spear, Dagger, Lightning and others, but names aside, it is obvious the Insurgents are NOT in “their last throes” and they have not effectively been stopped. When terrorism around the world rises 300% in a year, this is NOT “making progress”!
Lynn Bradach, a Cindy supporter, makes a great point as she said, "I guess our children went and were sacrificed for us to take a look at what we let happen. We let this war happen. If nothing else, this is a huge lesson. Watch who you vote for. Watch what they're telling you. Don't be so afraid."
Another issue trying to be covered up is that the majority of Americans now DISTRUST the President. Bush did it to himself and it is now coming back to him. His fixed policy and lies have been exposed, and the Mainstream media’s efforts to keep us in the dark as an arm of the Bush Administration are being thwarted by more people who now will ask hard questions and demand answers. The Downing Street Memo remains in the mind of many Americans.
The antics of the Bush Administration and the attempts to cover-up and exclude its members from a well-deserved punishment for outing a CIA agent in a deliberate act of revenge will not go away!
When I heard about the “WALK TO FREEDOM” planned for 9/11, I could not find a cause to celebrate as the job was left UNDONE and Osama and al-ZAWAHARI are still out there!
Iraq is a quagmire, despite Administration denials with the country is close or already in a civil war! This is NOT HONORING the loss of 3000 American lives. Of course, we could all still join the walk, or have one ourselves, wearing black and everyone WALKING BACKWARDS, which would be more representative of the truth!
IT'S ALL ABOUT ME, IT'S ALL ABOUT MINE, ACCOUNTABLE TO NO ONE, PERIOD! I’m KING GEORGE AND I APPROVE MY MESSAGE!
ok...............i don't get it. what is the problem with like-minded people joining cindy sheehan in her protest? i thought that's what americans do. isn't that what pro-life people do at abortion clinics? that is what the republicans did with terri schiavo woman here in florida. even jeb bush joined in. that creepy hannity told his stooge mark fuhrman to write a book making the husband look like he killed her. no one complained about that. one gets the impression there is a whole different set of rules for the democrats.

I think we should return to counting our votes one by one. I don't trust Republicans with computers and software anymore. K. Harris and J. Bush stole the election in 2000 for G. Bush. That's a fact. The Dems. will not control anything unless we eliminate voting fraud by counting each vote.
