Subject: Woman Rage
It's women that George W. Bush is afraid of the most. The 911 widows, and now Cindy Sheehan, are his worst nightmare, so much so that he's high-tailed it into his hidey-hole like a skeered little prairie dog. But these women are righteously pissed, George. They've got nothin' to lose and they're comin' to git ya.

I don't remember seeing this in BuzzFlash, so I thought I'd pass this on to you so you can do your magic and get the word out to the whole country.
It's called leavemychildalone.org. They have all kinds of ideas on how parents can protect their children, and get together to make plans on vigils, letter writings, perhaps petitions, something for everyone. I hope parents, teachers, grandparents, aunts, uncles and others will get involved and let Bush know that he can't murder any more of our kids.

Subject: 2006 Elections Are Upon Us ... Let's Get Started
I'm Michele and I'm really excited about the 2006 elections where democrats can win seats and create balance in our bloated republican government. We could end the war, stop the corporate welfare, cuts to the most needy, and perhaps impeach this corrupted President and his cronies.
I've created a website that lists each state and the race's contenders, with voting records, issue report cards and possible candidates. Please check out your state. There is information on your senator and/or representative and their contact information.
It is vital that we all work to elect democrats and/or progressives in our states this election and set aside individual interests. Without checks and balances, democracy is gone. Our country depends on you.
Thanks for letting me rant.
Subject: Why does it never change for Bush, even with poor poll numbers?
There was a very good editorial in the St. Louis Post Dispatch today...Sun. Aug.14, it put into context...why Bush gets by with the crap that he doles out! The polls find that most devout followers of Bush....are uneducated rural folks who think more of an ideology....the Republican "Values," or what they have been told are the republican values...than they do of issues. So, they do not listen to the concerns over Social Security...war.....the economy.....and the future. They know that none of it will affect them except the possibility of war. Most kids who have joined the military during this time...are either leaders, who may not face gunfire....or kids who are from very poor families who want to go to college. They never pay attention to the fact that benefits will be cut so much by that time...that they will likely get nothing! The rich...just simply will not join..they don't have to.
The story of Lila Lipscomb, who has joined the' Gold Star Mothers for Peace'....is a great example. The woman from Flint, Mi...who told all her kids as they grew up..in Flint, that the military was a great place to start. Her daughter went through and came home safely. She said she hated the protesters back then....as did I, until she realized they were not protesting the troops....they were protesting the concept of the war. As, in Vietnam, the other disgraceful war! She did an about face, when her son told her the night before deployment that he was scared...he did not know why...but, he was scared! I do not know how long he was there, but, he died in March of '04...when everything started to heat up. He was in the Black Hawk helicopter that went down in Karbala.
My granddaughter came home at that time...safely....but may be re-deployed now. She has entered the University of Missouri...setting her sights far lower than Webster College....the private institute! I personally think that she decided that being alive and in college is far better than being dead, in order to go to a 35 thousand dollar a year university! Small things like...Repubicans tend to like Dunkin' Donuts...as opposed to Democrats preference of Starbucks...many little tiny things they found that separate the rightwing from the left.
The editorial said that we (democrats) need to get out there and profess our religiosity more....preach Values...Values....Values...and they might be right. But, I tend to think that this was done in the beginning of the Bush Campaign...when they were able to use Clinton as an example. Never, ever pointing to the fact that we were so well off in his administration. That is why...when any of us try to discuss this administration to anyone who is still staunch about it.......they either go mute....or actually blame the condition of this world...on Clinton. It is nothing to tune in the Rush Limbaugh and hear him saying that the reason those 911 Characters were not discovered back then...was that Clinton and Reno protected them...which is a blatant lie. Anyone who lived through that time...knows that Clinton could not buy the time of day!
One of the most disgusting things I have discovered, is their love of calling us Lib'ruls ... instead of Democrats. A Democrat can be either liberal....conservative...or moderate. It sickens me that they are so uninformed (I prefer to call them). Most that I know seem to be....and it is a worry! Until the lap dog followers of George Bush wake up and smell the coffee....they can sway an entire nation...because now we have the churches preaching the republican agenda. You see it on cars...."We vote life," not even taking into consideration...the many lives of little kids killed in Iraq!
Life is Life...and until they get that into their heads....they will sway their closest friends. I know...I was blasted every time I opened my mouth against Bush....and I did it early on, often...and I am still doing it! I will not stop...I will not sell out...and I am getting more and more proud of that!
Good for Cindy Sheehan for standing up to the ignorant moron and coward, Bush. Not only is this trumped up war a crime, this whole filthy administration is a crime. They've dragged this country down to the level of a banana republic, and maybe, just maybe, Cindy Sheehan will be the catalyst needed to wake the American people up to the buffoons that have placed our country in a tyrannical stranglehold based on lies, deceit, and religious ignorance and intolerance (that's what Herr Karl Rove is most fearful of). This bunch of ignorant cowards, war profiteers, liars and thieves must be held accountable for their crimes. Iraq will sink into civil war no matter how long we stay, and no matter how many American lives are squandered, thanks to the fascist pigs in the white house. The goal Bush the idiot really had was self-serving exploitation of the American people and the Iraqis. Cheney, the draft-dodging coward made billions for himself and his criminal friends, at the same time, trying to emasculate social security benefits for the American people ...
Subject: Cindy Sheehan!
George Bush's mother said, when hearing the body count from Iraq: "Why should we hear about body bags and death? It's not relevant. So, I can't bother my beautiful mind with that." And Barbara Bush went golfing the day after her daughter, Bush's sister, died. Bush didn't have much of a role model for a mother, did he?
It is really interesting that just now, a mother who IS able to express her grief, has put Bush in a corner. There is a thundering embarrassed silence of all those who wanted this hideous war who can't answer Cindy Sheehan's simple question: why was it necessary for my son to die?
Thank you, Cindy Sheehan for simply asking Bush to explain himself. A mother's disappointment is the most powerful remonstrance I've ever known. Maybe it is time someone told George Bush to be ashamed of himself. Clearly that's something he hasn't had enough of in his life. Cindy has succeeded in starting the murmuring that the Emperor is naked, and the press are finally starting to look behind the Wizard's curtain.
President Bush will never meet with Cindy because she will also ask him why his own kids haven't joined the fight. And he has no answer to that very simple question, either. Bush's administration has played the "Mom and Apple Pie" thing so aggressively. But now they are faced with an apple-pie mom who says, "Shame on you."
What could President Bush learn from Cindy Sheehan? Compassion, honor, humility, dignity, courage, hope, kindness, right action, and love.
So: You get 'em, Mom! You're a great American hero. Don't ever give up. One is often tempted to ask: how can I make a difference when I'm only one man? Well, now we can say: "But Cindy Sheehan is one woman" You go, girl!

Subject: Coalition of the More Than Willing
Dear Buzz and Friends,
It's time for the neocons to create a new reality. Their current product, the Iraq War, is not as popular as it once was and is subject to altogether too much scrutiny and analysis. It's time to roll out a new model in the perpetual war series.
Enter stage right: The Iran War. All the indicators are there, the "feverish" pursuit of a "diplomatic solution," going to the UN, "war is always is the last option," yah-di-yah-di-yah. It's not a question of if, only of how.
How can America be dragged into a new war while things are going so badly in two unfinished wars? There will have to be another "coalition" of the willing, obviously. What country can you think of that would partner with the United States in an attack on Iran? UK? Not likely. Blair is just about at the end of his rope supporting bush aggressions in the middle-east. What about Israel? Now there's an idea! In fact why don't we let them attack first (we didn't have anything to do with the timing) and then simply rally round an ally in need of assistance? Hey, this thing could be a slam dunk!
Another round of Shock-and-Awe could be just the thing to get Americans focused on something brand new and exciting. Bigger, better bumpers, sleek new contours, lots of chrome and a powerful new nuclear power plant. Seat belts and armor plating are optionally available (limited to stock on hand).
But what about democrats in the Senate? Do you think they would support a new war in partnership with Israel? You're damn right they would. I doubt that there would be even one or two votes cast differently. What about Osama? Do you think another "trifecta" could be arranged? While Tony Blair and many Britons may be just a tiny bit suspicious of Osama's intentions and alliances by now, Americans decidedly are not. In fact, a small but vocal minority would gleefully countenance a tactical nuclear strike against Iran. They've never been too keen on the "democracy in Iraq" justification for war anyway, preferring something in the "just kill the f**king towel heads" genre.
Make no mistake about it: the Iraq war has been a roaring success from the point of view of bush supporters. PNAC is doing just fine and "Starve the Beast" is exceeding even the most optimistic expectations. But Johnny Depp nailed it perfectly when he compared "bush America" to a bad dog. This new thing about being upstaged by a grieving mother is just not that much fun, it's difficult to think clearly with such distractions going on. No, the "war president" likes to stay on the attack, display a nice basket to cheering throngs of "straight people" and curl up on the sofa with a news media content to pat him on the head and rub him behind the ears.
None of this will come as a surprise to those of us from the democratic side of the democratic party. It'll just be more galling than ever. Quite frankly I can't see any way to prevent it. The best that can be done is to sincerely advise Iranians to prepare nuclear resistant bomb shelters and stock them with food and water sufficient to last for a very long time.
PS: Americans are fond of flowers so please to have some of those ready. Oh, and to our friends in "old europe": sorry about the wind. Why not blame that global warming thing you keep carrying on about.
Subject: 9/11 Freedom March @ Pentagon - Public Rebuttal
Rather than stage a counter protest or just fume over this staged event (The America Supports you March for Freedom) which starts at the Pentagon on 9/11 and is furthering the perception that only those who support the war support the troops, I propose this: As many people as possible register to march in the parade co-opting the message, "Support Our Troops," by adding "Bring them home." Bring signs, wear shirts, chant, whatever you have to do to get the idea across.
Thus, with all of the media exposure of the anniversary of 9/11, and without confirming the idea that supporting our troops only means supporting their indefinite drowning in the quicksand of Iraq, we can reframe the ubiquitous "Support Our Troops" slogan with the idea that supporting them is to bring them home! We know major media are supporters of the march (check the homepage of the WSYFM 9/11) and we have an opportunity and responsibility to keep the momentum ramped up by Cindy Sheehan and keep pushing the message, BRING THEM HOME. There is little time between now and Sept. 11, let's get moving and register to show your support!

Subject: After Cindy? Wake Up and Smell The Kool-aid, America!
Being an ex-pat for 15 years, I started to wake up to what was happening in the US of A after 9/11. I remember screaming at GWB when the first thing he mentioned was to cancel the capital-gains tax. Does W mean wealthy?
And then all the brouhaha for Iraq, with the millions marching around the world with the mention of "thousands of demonstrators" in MSM. But nothing was being done about W. Mostly because of the re-organization set in place by the Trilateral commission after the impeachment of Nixon. Power was quietly moved over to the executive branch, the NSC became its own intelligence arm, and nobody had any say.
So when push came to shove, the Reslugs do whatever they want with impunity. But let's leave the trilateral theory in the dust, and take up with the neo-cons in the 1990's. Who predicted a Pearl Harbor-like event that would catapult their agenda onto the front burner? Anybody notice the Cypriot plane crash due to lack of oxygen in Greece? The jet pilots caught up to the plane and saw the co-pilot passed out!!!
I applaud Cindy and the attention she is getting, but she would like to know what was the noble cause? It was to build military bases in Iraq! Why, to better invade Iran and Syria when the situation in Iraq became very grim. And to put the icing on the cake, how about another "terrorist" attack in the US of A? I'm sure GWB would like to start his own martial plan. Or would this be the time that Uncle Dick takes over for real?
When a conspiracy becomes true, can I still be paranoid?

Subject: Peter Jennings
Some time last week, I did not get to keep much track....Barbara in NY...wrote of the short time ago that Peter Jennings interviewed Bill Clinton and started with the ratings of a president who blah...blah...blah! And, Clinton got a spine...he was the only democrat who ever had one...and told Peter..."You do not want to go there!" Sort of stopping the ignorant Peter in his tracks. Barbara, I agree...I think it might have been a last chance at a low jab! God help him as he leaves this earth!
Men, many men...could just never get over the brilliance, charm, and humanity of our 42nd president!
Speaking of....I just watched Joe Biden on Meet the Press...announcing that he had started a campaign to see how his chances were for the 2008 presidency. Well, Joe with me, they are not at all good. He and Joe Lieberman have a lot in common. During the fading bash...of the president in 2001....Mr. Biden and Joe Lieberman had their last gasp of "Let's get him while he is down" mentality. Funny, these two jealous men never looked at the fact that Bill Clinton's approval ratings...even after impeachment proceedings, were higher than Bush's ever were. He had and always had, and still to this day has, approval ratings in the 60's. Bush's rating was only that for a short time after the bombing of the WTC...which some think he might have been complicit in!
Subject: Let George Do It
As the weekend came and went, Bush refused to talk to Cindy Sheehan and six more US soldiers were killed leaving six grieving families to sort out their feelings. In addition, Bush made a statement that he needed to go on with his life in order to maintain balance.
What about the families of all dead soldiers not being able to go on with their lives and get some balance and answers to their legitimate questions which Bush refuses to give? What he proclaims is good for himself, he denies to grieving families.
In the Vietnamese war many of the same questions arose. Now we get affirmations that we cannot just uproot in Iraq and bring our troops home. Bush will do anything to save face. The same thing happened in Vietnam until Americans rose up and demanded withdrawal through demonstrations. We hear from our valorous politicians that withdrawal would cause civil war in Iraq. Newsflash! The civil war in Iraq has been in full swing for quite some time. We hear people will be massacred even though we and insurgents have massacred so many. They tell us Iraq will be a central recruitment territory for terrorists. Because of this illegal invasion, terrorists have flooded to Iraq ... they are already there and more are streaming in. Bush's reasoning for staying the course is contradicted by all of these reasons. Bush wants to maintain status quo in Iraq to save face and fill his buddies' and his coffers with more cash. As long as some are willing to wave the flag and say that our dead soldiers were fulfilling life long dreams as military men, the massacre of US soldiers will continue. I doubt that, dying in a war based on lies, was the life long dream of these dead and ill-equipped soldiers.
"Going on with their lives and maintaining balance" is an impossible feat for the families of our dead soldiers who were led to a bloody war based on bloody lies. Speak out America! Cease sitting in front of the TV and watching one strong woman do your talking for you. We should be outraged enough to join her by singing our own song and demanding the end of this senseless slaughter. Not speaking out only revives the saying of, "Let George do it."

Subject: "Justice Sunday??"
I don't have TV, so I had to rely on this morning's MSM to get the details on what transpired yesterday at the right-wing-religious rally denouncing "activist judges." (I came very close to losing my breakfast.) First, keynote (?) speaker, hypocrite/thief/hijacker of congressional districts -- looking, no doubt, for a leg up from his "post the 10 commandments on every wall" cohorts at yesterday's rally. Then (reading further) -- Zell Miller (the mad, wild-eyed Old Testament prophet/pseudo Democrat) who ranted at -- where else? -- the Republican convention in 2004. Then all the mealy-mouthed right-wing faux Christians (if any Buzz readers have read/seen reports on "Justice Sunday," please ask yourselves: Is this what Jesus would have said??? Rhetorical question.)
For me, the supreme irony emerged when a number of speakers -- by way of denouncing "activist judges" -- vehemently announced their own agenda: i.e., abolishing Roe v. Wade, prosecuting "baby killers," (banning contraception wasn't specifically mentioned, but the message was clear), stripping gays/lesbians/bisexuals/transsexuals of ALL their rights, not just marriage.
Hmm. That sure sounds like judicial activism to ME!! These wingnuts (and hypocrites) aren't REALLY opposed to "judicial activists." They're just gunning for THEIR brand of judicial activism.
Not that they're listening, but just in case ... Earth to Tom DeLay, Zell Miller, and all the other participants in "Justice Sunday": The U.S. was NOT founded as a Christian nation, with "values that have endured for millennia." Provisions were specifically made to ensure the separation of church and state. We were (to begin with) -- an aside here: several of our Founding Fathers were deists, not what would be defined today as Christians -- and there was religious diversity even in 1775. Today, given our multicultural society, there is infinitely MORE. Face it, "Justice Sunday" hypocrites/ despots: THE U.S. IS A PLURALISTIC NATION.
I'm still reeling from the contradiction between the denunciation of "activist judges" and those who want to install THEIR choice of activists to guarantee the nullification of rights of groups they don't approve of or respect.
OK, OK. I'll calm down now. Forgive any typos. Smoke was coming out of my ears as I wrote -- and I'm a non-smoker.

Subject: The True Price of War
George, let me tell you a bedtime story about the true cost of the war you have started with no thought other than for yourself and your friends.
60 years ago there was another war raging. It ended this week, but the last few months saw a tremendous loss of life.
At the time, a carpenter named Mack Malone had three children. His oldest, James Wesley, was serving in the Marines. He also had a daughter Maxine and a young son named Perry.
At Okinawa, a sniper killed James Wesley Malone.
The years passed. Maxine married a man who forced her to have two abortions (which were illegal at the time) before she left him with her two children and met another war veteran who married her and adopted her children.
If her older brother had been alive to advise her, would she have married the first man? Would she have had to undergo losing two children she wanted?
The younger brother Perry met and married a local woman and found a good life for himself.
The years passed. Mack and his wife faced down cancer and each succumbed, with support from their two surviving children, who were now far apart. Could their oldest son have kept the family together in this time of strife?
More time passes. The daughter survives her husband's passing, and marries again, further driving the family apart. Again, could the oldest son have helped?
Now it is today. The grandchildren of Mack Malone have no contact with each other. There is no one to hold the family together.
Would it have turned out better or worse if James Wesley Malone had not died in the service of his country? No one knows, but it would certainly have turned out differently.
Now, as of this date, almost 1900 US soldiers have died in the "war to prove little Georgie is a man."
Multiply James Wesley Malone's story by 1900 and see how many lives it impacts, most for the negative.
And long after little Georgie Bush is rotting in his grave, families will still be feeling the impact of his "adventure."
US Presidents before this one felt the weight and responsibility of their office. Eisenhower prayed for his men and visited with them before D Day, knowing many of those he met would die. Truman agonized over the decision of whether or not to use the bomb.
As opposed to this one, who cannot stand to be proven wrong and to whom the lives of men in service mean no more than tissue paper.
Someday, I hope to be able to visit your grave, little Georgie Bush.
And, to recall a scene from THE SHOOTIST. "What I'll do there won't pass for flowers."
with the exception of that new guy (hackett) and dean, i'm starting to think the democrats are basically just plants in the democrat party like judith miller was to the ny times! they have no guts! they don't stand up for anything! hell, i talked to a nut case the other day who still believes john kerry shot himself for a medal! republicans are a bunch of dishonest thugs who stole the election twice! the media will not point out when they do things like comparing max cleland to osama, but they pounced all over the naral ad. i'm so disgusted with the democrats i don't even want to vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DEAN FOR PRESIDENT WITH BOXER AS HIS RUNNING MATE, PLUS A WHOLE NEW SENATE AND CONGRESS. Oh I just woke up from my very pleasant DREAM.
I'll say it again....WE NEED A NEW PARTY TO REPRESENT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NOT THE CORPORATIONS.
When John Kerry was overheard on a live mic calling the Bush people a bunch of crooks and liars, what happened? Well, the right wing hit him like a ton of bricks, and he backed off! He should have stood his ground and said, yes, I said it and I meant it! That's what the republicans would have done, and they would have won!

"Controlled by the GOP, Republican propaganda was used to instill Republican racist ideology and to change patterns of traditional behavior. Focusing on a major enemy (the Muslim) the Republicans used false claims, deceptions and outright lies to justify and gain support for their murderous policies. Expert use was made of all media and educational tools. To attract public attention the Republicans used propaganda in many different ways, and in their efforts to gain support and influence they introduced new methods in the field. In addition to ideological indoctrination, they employed mass meetings, visual aids, and radio.
The purpose of these methods was to attract public attention and media coverage; once they were in control, their aim was to entrench the totalitarian regime and strengthen its hold on the population. By means of false claims, deception, and outright lies the Republicans concocted pseudo - justifications for their political and military aggression."

Subject: Re Bush library hopefuls have stacked up (USA Today)
I am totally opposed to George W. Bush Library being at Texas Tech University. This man is totally anti-intellectual, anti-science, anti-education, anti-truth, anti-people. This man was a terrible high school and undergraduate and graduate student, and a terribly irresponsible National Guardsman, a terrible President and he is terrible for the world and its environment. If his library goes to Texas Tech University, a University that this man has not ever helped even once in his lifetime, you can bet that you can write off this alumnus Ph.D. from claiming affiliation with or donating to this University ever again. You just cannot imagine what an insult this is to your really serious students and alumni.
This is a man that is so totally in denial that he will not allow anyone who disagrees with him to even attend a function in which he is the speaker. That is not the mark of the free discourse and discussion of an excellent University such as Texas Tech aspires to be. His lies have resulted in the deaths and injuries of too many people in HIS Iraq war. He doesn't even have sense or sensibility enough to talk with Cindy Sheehan who lost her precious son in Iraq that he got us into with lies. He'd rather ride his bicycle and go to a Republican fundraiser than spend five minutes with her.
Tell George W. "can't tell right from wrong, can't tell truth from lies" Bush to put this library in his pipe along with whatever else he got from big tobacco and the drug companies and smoke it. He smoked too much pot and did too much cocaine and drank too much booze to have half a brain left. And this has manifested itself in a failed Presidency. Tell George W.
