Subject: Abramoff, DeLay, Ney, Kidan, Boulis

There was a gentleman by the name of Gus Boulis who was murdered (a mob style hit) back in 2001 in Ft Lauderdale. Boulis was the founder of SunCruz Casino. SunCruz was sold to Adam Kidan and Jack Abramoff just months prior to Boulis' death. Boulis had a falling out with Kidan after the sale. Both Kidan and Abramoff have now been indicted for bank fraud in connection with this purchase.

The Republican leaders such as Tom DeLay are in bed with some unsavory people with criminal ties. Where's the family values?

Subject: The Parable of the Grieving Mother

Her name was Cindy Sheehan. She was camped out on a dusty road waiting for the commander-in-chief president to come meet with her, the better to answer Cindy's questions as to what it was that her son Casey died for in Iraq. That, and could he please explain those lies that he made to both of them, Casey and Cindy, about WMD and such. The freedom and democracy thing was nice but it had been a tagalong just in case the public got wise to the lying, which they did. Cindy waited and waited at the camp site outside the commander-in-chief's Crawford ranch. Finally the president invited her in and once she had him face to face Cindy looked him straight in the eye and asked him her questions. By that time the whole world was tuned-in to what was going on in Crawford. What do you think happened next?

Subject: Editorial, The Christian Science Monitor of 8/11/05

Good morning, BuzzFlashers, Progressives, Liberals, Democrats, true Republicans, Republicracts, Greens, Libertarians, all of us who cherish freedom and OUR Constitution and Bill of Rights.

... an Editorial from the Christian Science Monitor of 8/11/05 ... speaks for itself as more proof that its writers are living in a very different world than the world that we live in. Apparently their world is somewhere Far East of the City of Reality, on the road from 1/19/2001 to The City of 1984 … and part of their closing paragraph from years-ago television (Rodney King in LA, maybe?) where they suggest Akbar Ganji and Cindy Sheehan "... can help the rest of us get along."

If Cindy and Akbar Could Meet

My letter to the Monitor this morning follows ... Don't they spin me up sometimes!

To the Christian Science Monitor Editorial Board, re.: The Monitor's View in your August 11, 2005 edition, "If Cindy and Akbar Could Meet."

You think if Akbar Ganji and Cindy Sheehan could meet, they might "... help the rest of us get along." Please tell us: In what world do you all live?

You say “How nice if Cindy Sheehan and Akbar Ganji could meet, even if via satellite in a CNN broadcast.”

How “nice”!

How “nice” indeed.

How “nice” if the Christian Science Monitor and the other once-great-and-questioning news organizations in this Country started asking the tough questions of OUR “leadership,” as Cindy Sheehan and Akbar Ganji are asking, as we speak!

Newsflash! Cindy and Akbar are on the same side of this tragic debate: each wants Freedom from tyranny in their own Country, and each is doing your job, putting themselves and their families’ lives on the line!! That Freedom will never again exist here unless the Christian Science Monitor and every other news organization in this once-Great Country stops for a few moments to read the First Amendment of OUR Constitution, then works their tail off to help us all regain the Freedom and leadership that we deserve.

How “nice” indeed if you ask the questions that get the answers Cindy needs.

How "nice" if our "leadership" had used brains instead of brawn in Iraq, maybe Casey Sheehan would not have been killed, and we could have had a positive effect on Freedom for Akbar and everyone else in Iran too!

Subject: Friday Morning's Top Five Headlines on BuzzFlash.com

The 2nd and last articles in the attached message should be read by all who love this country. The Vanity Fair article "indicts" the news media in much the same manner that many Americans have done since September 11, 2001. Gary Hart has some very important words for Democrats that need to be heard and heeded, if that party wants to be taken seriously again.

'Vanity Fair' Rips Media 'Conspiracy' in Covering Up Role in Plame Scandal. Will The New York Times and Time Go Down with Rove? Why Did They Enable Treason to Go Unpunished? And the New York Times Still Does, As They Stand Behind Judith Miller, Who Helped the Administration Lie Us Into the Iraq War and Now Won't Cooperate in Outing a Traitor.

Gary Hart: Cindy a voice in the wilderness of political cowardice 8/12

Finally, please say a prayer for Cindy Sheehan who is displaying her courage against forces that would like to silence her and others who oppose this war. She's doing the job that Howard Dean, John McCain, Hillary Clinton, the religious leaders, and others ought to be doing.

Subject: President Pickpocket

Yesterday, I heard two cable financial analysts discussing the latest oil hike and they talked about it as if they were discussing the price of bananas. One analyst said the price would go to $70.00 a barrel just to see if Americans would be fairly passive about it and, if so, the prices could go to $75.00 per barrel.

Meanwhile {back at the ranch} Bush signs the energy bill which gives billions to those who have reaped billions. Where does the buck stop? Not on Bush's desk, that's for sure. Bush says the energy bill helps avoid tax hikes. Wouldn't we take a tax hike rather than the ripple effect of fuel hikes? Food, trucking, airlines and just about everything we consume will go up in price.

Americans can dig a little deeper in their pockets and meager savings to accommodate a president who is not happy just doling out bucks to his cronies and bankrupting the nation with HIS war. Now your pockets, passbook savings, not even your teapot, will be safe from the Pickpocket President!

Subject: Re: Officials See Risk in the Release of Images of Iraq Prisoner Abuse - NYT

According to Amnesty International, atrocities, torture and human rights violations were rampant at Guantanamo Bay prison facility. After the Gonzales memo stated that the Geneva Convention did not cover suspected terrorists and the torture started at Guantanamo, the good general made the statement that they would "Gitmotize prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan." It was reported that prisoners were even tortured to death. The damage has already been done by the photos previously released. It is apparent that this is nothing but an attempted cover up.

Subject: Don't Get Excited About Playboy and Roberts (pun Intended)

It looks like another pro-corporate, anti-regulation case.

"Playboy’s case challenged the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which required cable TV operators to scramble sexually explicit content or restrict the pornography to hours when children would be unlikely to view it."

This whole Telecommunications Act was a disaster. They threw in this restriction as a way to get the bill passed.

On a related note, one of the (many) reasons for anti-US hatred around the world is the perception that U.S. media firms (like Playboy) force their world view on other cultures. People get resentful when their values are overrun so our corporations can make money. Not everyone thinks that the highest form of civilization is a billboard with Jessica Simpson's butt.

Subject: Sometimes It Gets To You; You Want To Scream; This Can't Be Happening!

To Congress:

Some Democrats used to be my heroes, yet their silence about issues like election reform, Downing Street Memo, Pork filled Highway bills, and not filibustering vital issues that needed attention because moderation meant keeping their next pre-election hopes alive and showed their political self interest and profits from their favorite lobbyists meant more to them then to benefit their country. As for Republicans, their corruption and their parroting all Bush Propaganda disgusts me, but I never had any respect for them or their so-called leader and his cronies anyway. They are transparent in their dishonesty!

To indifferent Americans:

Just what are your priorities? Look at yourselves - shallow and pampered is an understatement! You do not pay attention to the corruption and scandals and lies that are and have been occurring in your nation, the country your children and grandchildren will have to live in! It’s more important to shop at the mall or worry how your butt looks in pants!

To Republicans or most of them:

You all belong to one big power-grabbing family. You ignore corruption, you try and get away with one scandal after another, you are an ethical disaster and collaborate with the press in the dumbing down of indifferent and/or gullible Americans! You are the INNER FAMILY of the “BIG BROTHER SOCIETY.”

To the Gullible:

What in the hell is the matter with you? It is amazing to me how you can stay in the state of denial about George W. Bush who bold-faced lied to your face about a war. The excuses you give for his ineptness show, like Molly Ivins was fond of saying, you are a plant and someone better water you twice daily! A dog with a note in his mouth is more intelligent then you are! When will you get your head out of your ***?

George W. Bush and cronies:

An unethical bunch with an ego big as all outdoors. He is the worst President we have ever had in so many ways, a front man controlled by Neocons, who are ready to risk their nation or any nation in their effort to bully and dominate the world to think as they do. Hey George your war is failing!

One Hope:

For all those who will go out on a limb and expose the corruption, demonstrate and/or write about Bush's Failure and his policy of war, and are working every day to get the Republicans out of office, my heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation!

Subject: Oil at $67 a Barrel

Does any one remember when Larry Kudlow said the invasion of Iraq would bring us oil at under $20 a barrel?

Come on Larry this was about raising the price of oil.

All those Red Staters are bending over right now and yelling "Thank you George can we have another?"

Yes you can - think Iran and $120 oil

Subject: I Loved Your Nomination/Coronation of Rummy as Hypocrite Of The Week!!

I won't restate (since other regular readers have certainly read your column too). I agree with all your points.

But I have one addition: The dementia may be real...but this administration doesn't give a flying...saucer. They've actually talked themselves into believing that the Chimp (now clearing "brush" on the pseudo "ranch" in Crawford (where, of course he's too "busy" (LOL) to meet with Cindy Sheehan, Cheney, Rummy, and the neocons can wipe out all dissent (from their viewpoint) and keep the American public fooled in perpetuity. (Unfortunately, if the "All Children Left Behind" Act succeeds and kids in "failed" schools are left to the "mercy" of private schools established and run by the religious right, they might succeed.) But there's still time. Just look at the polls. The Chimp's numbers have followed a steady downward curve. Without manipulation of statistics, our economy would show similar statistics. (I heard -- on NPR -- this afternoon that the unemployment rate in GA literally DOUBLED [from the June figures] in July. And many of us underemployed, barely hanging on folks aren't even included in the count, our unemployment benefits having been exhausted.) Talk about manipulation!

But I do believe in Karma -- aka, "what goes around comes around." It's just a matter of time until this gang of thieves and liars gets its comeuppance. I hope we'll all -- and, for that matter, our country as it was designed to be and once was -- will still be around to witness the results.

Subject: Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute

Dear Barbara, of the "Daily Buzz minute,"

I love your contributions to BuzzFlash....I love BuzzFlash!!!! I just wanted to address your article about the Born Agains' belief that after being born again they are forgiven for all sins: past, present, and future. I live in Alabama--the heart of Dixie and the heart of the Bible Belt. I can't claim to be an expert about religion...I don't participate in organized religion. But I know a little because my Grandpa was a backwoods, fire and brimstone Baptist preacher. That's not the reason I'm not a Baptist-it was how he was treated by the so called "Christians" that did it for me...another story.

Once in grace, always in grace was what he would preach. That means once you are "Saved" or "Born Again" your worries are over. You are going to Heaven! Parents and preachers put great pressure on young people to be "saved" by the time they are twelve years old. Most conform and claim to be "Saved or "Born Again." Who wouldn't? "Born Agains" are in the "IN Crowd." They are certified members of the most elite club known to man. Once you are "Born Again," you are going to Heaven...no matter what!

Jesus is no doubt shocked and awed with such snobbery in connection with his name...for Christ Sake! So no matter how many people they torture and kill, or how much money they steal, or how many lies they tell, George Bush and his crowd are Heaven bound.

The truth is: George Bush is not a real Christian. He is using Christianity and Christians to serve his worldly aims--Greed and power. I hope he actually gets a just reward from God...or Jesus or who ever dishes it out!

Subject: Please post the NFL info to support Green Day

I'm a big Green Day fan. We were at their concert Wed. night. It was great.

We are also big Bears fans and have northwestern season football tickets.

So, after hitting the fox nonsense on tv yesterday, I decided it was important to call the NFL and tell them I am a football fan and support Green Day and their music for Sept. 8.

Please tell everyone that the number is 212-450-2000 for New York offices of the NFL.

Tell the operator that you want to talk to someone who will hear that you support the music selection. It would be good if the callers were fans of football. I got a voice mail with a name identified and I even left my phone number.

Progressives can like football and punk rock. I am proof. Call! Green Day deserves our support.

Thanks.

Do you suppose that bushco is using Cindy Sheehan's noble protest in order to create yet another diversion from his administrations treasonous activities?

Maybe she should consider this subject.

Good luck from Canada, Cindy.

Subject: JESUS GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please tell me Mr. Bush did not just drive right by that poor woman in the ditch in Crawford! That is something Saddam Hussein would do, not an American president! I have become so disappointed in Mr. Bush! I had no idea a few years ago that the Bush people were so secretive, mean spirited, they attack people just for disagreeing with them, they try to destroy those people.

That is not the kind of Republican I am. The secrecy bothers me a great deal! You don't keep secrets unless you have something you need to hide.

I vote absentee and I will be changing my party to Independent.
