Sounds like heresy? Let me explain.
I was very much in support of Kerry. I really wanted Clark or Dean to run, but the party made its choice, so I supported Kerry. I rallied when the Swift Boat liars made their attack, wrote letters and did what I could.
Kerry promised he would stick it out to the end in case of a dispute. And he had a war chest and loads of lawyers ready in case of another dispute.
Then came the election...and he folded like a cheap deck of cards. Said he'd use his war chest in his next run.
Every so often I hear he's drafting a letter or resolution or such to face down Bush...I hear that he is but that's all that happens.
Right now, except for Reid, Dean and a few others, the politicians that seem to be espousing what I want are people like McCain and such.
Like right now, how many Democratic leaders are with Cindy Sheehan in Crawford? How many fight against Big Oil, Big Energy and others?
Democratic leaders, if you don't want us to go Moderate Republican, you'd better start standing for SOMETHING, because THEY sure are!!!

Subject: Cindy Sheehan
I feel some fresh air coming through thanks to Cindy Sheehan. The people around me where I live abroad will be so pleased to see the good old America coming back. Can you imagine being in the shoes of that poor hapless Crawford sheriff? Imagine trying to arrest Cindy Sheehan? For being a grieving mother who believes with all her heart that the cause her son died for was fraudulent.
I thought Bush v. Gore and the treasonous decision of the SCOTUS was going to pull down Bush. How could a democracy support the losing candidate? Then I thought his outrageous appointments of beasts in high places would be his downfall. Then I was sure Enron would undo him. Scoundrels and scandals in all corners didn't touch him. I thought that Paul O'Neill's book would impact him. I thought that all the lies and hubris and their exposure would turn the tide. I thought that raging anti-American feeling everywhere in the world would have an impact. I thought that story of the twenty billion dollars being transferred out of the Federal Reserve loaded onto giant pallets and then loaded onto C-130 planes to Iraq right before the CPA was disbanded in Iraq would surely ruin Bush. That image of the transfer of that kind of money, 8.8 billion unable to be accounted for at all, is just so horrific and unscrupulous that no decent American could let that cross through their cerebrum and not wince.
No, none of these things had much impact at all. But Cindy Sheehan, bless her, is having a helluva impact. It would be democracy at its best to watch her be the catalyst that brings down Bush. She is lovely and she sacrificed in a way that no one should. She is a hero to me and she may be a hero to the whole world. It is not only Americans and Iraqis that hate this war in Iraq. The entire world writhes from the injustice of it.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if Bush woke up tomorrow with throngs of Americans walking through those ditches on the sides of his private road and made an announcement that went like this:
Then he exits.
Well, we can all have dreams can't we? Isn't it part of being American?
All the best to Buzz,

Subject: Jesus God!
Jesus, how God da**ed sad to see Fox News and the Bush administration attacking that poor woman in the ditch in Crawford whose son was killed in Iraq! It actually makes me nauseous!
I don't care if she flip-flopped all the way to Texas! Leave the poor woman alone! She has given more than enough for her country! Bush took her son! Leaver her alone! If Jesus Christ came back to earth and said Bush was wrong to lie us into war ... they would nail him to a cross, burn him alive and say they had to do it, he was becoming a national security threat!
PS: My son just said Fox News would then declare God to be dead and George Bush to be our new god.

Was listening to Bernie Ward on KGO, San Francisco last night. A caller suggested sending Cindy flowers as a symbol of support. They would make a lovely picture for the cameras.

An open letter to Senate Democrats:
If you are one of those wondrous Democrat Senators who contributed so much to entangling us all in this unnecessary and disastrous war--by enabling our lunatic republican president to unilaterally declare war against Iraq in your (OUR) name, how about you now put on a pair of your favorite dungarees and hurry your butt out into that iconic Crawford, Texas drainage ditch alongside Army Spc. Casey Sheehan's mom. It seems like the least thing you could do for the two of them, not to mention for your country.

The following is from the NY Times, but also of note is the guy's affiliation with Ft. Bliss in El Paso, which is a BIG winner in the base re-alignment battle. Payback?
But you know they wouldn't bust a 4-star general for having extramarital sex! Torture's OK, but gettin' some on the side is just too much for Rummy.

[BuzzFlash Note: Here's a column about it (last 5 paragraphs): Just a thought ... (Bradenton Herald).]
May Peter Jennings rest in peace and my condolences to his loved ones. He was too young to die.
With that said, and I don't want to disrespect the deceased, but I remember this interview (below) and it was the angriest I've ever seen Bill Clinton. And I think Clinton really needed to say it - to Jennings, Brokaw, and everyone else who participated in this witch-hunt.
None of them had a right to lecture Clinton when what they themselves did was despicable. They've been showing a piece of the interview on TV a lot, however they leave out almost everything Clinton said. Maybe out of respect for Jennings.
But tell the whole story, not only what makes Peter Jennings look good. How 'bout some honesty? Oh, never mind.
Barbara in NYC
[BuzzFlash Note: A related observation from a mostly positive piece on Jennings' passing: "ABC's record was not an exemplary model of fairness in reporting while Jennings was on the throne. ABC was the most aggressive network to pursue Whitewater and Kenneth Starr's investigation of the Clintons, sometimes reporting blatant rumors as fact and not bothering to verify leaks from Starr's office." -- The End of a Media Era (Monica Mehta, Alternet)]
Subject: Peter Jennings
While most of the main stream media was making fun of people who were questioning the strange results of the 2004 presidential election, Peter Jennings seemed to keep an open mind. I remember one night he was reading something from the monitor that said something about "conspiracy theories" of people who doubted the results of the recent election. At that point he looked at the camera and said on his own, "Should we call them 'conspiracy theories'?"
He was a class act and he will be missed.

Subject: Doomed Empire
It is precisely the fact that the US has military personnel stationed around the globe that we are now in a position of weakness. Since W.W.II, the US has attempted to be the world's policeman and maintain bases to prevent nations aspiring to acquiring empires. Is that not what the US is doing presently?
By invading Iraq, a nation with the second largest source of oil, and acquiring more bases to control that region, we are guilty of empire building. The excuse of bringing democracy to the region is nothing but a lame excuse.
Previous US administrations haven't attempted to interfere or overthrow dictators or tyrants throughout most of the world. In fact, the US has had friendly relations with many of the worst regimes in the world, including Saudi Arabia and Communist China. The present administration is no different whatsoever, and talk of spreading democracy around the world is ridiculous, at best, and criminal at worst. As the Germans and Japanese found out in W.W.II, spreading your forces too thinly in many areas allows your enemies to throw their forces at you where you are most vulnerable. The US never seems to avoid the mistakes made in history.
Now, nothing but mistakes are being made by this administration, which will leave the US weakened like never before. The next major conflict will likely be against Communist China, which we are helping become a superpower through an unfavorable balance of trade. It would be a war we just might lose.
Subject: Our Leader
Awww ... the poor, poor widdle baby pwesident has to stay in the house, or that mean, mean Mrs Sheehan might have harsh things to say to the Pwecious. Maybe Mommy and Poppy can go have a word with that old meanie so George can go back outside and play cowboy and blow up frogs 'n stuff. Maybe she'll go away if Poppy gives her some money; that seems to work a lot of times ...
I know! Maybe the widdle baby pwesident can put on his cool flight suit and strut out there (remember to put bulge back in) and impress everybody like last time. He could even put the visor down so he won't have to look in her eyes. Just remember to put the earplugs back in so Karl can tell him "what to say." (Remember to hide receiver bulge better this time.)

Hooray for Cindy! She's done what many Americans are dreaming about. Challenging the Bush Administration about this "illegal" war. Hats off to this wonderful lady. She's brave and "articulate." Many of us admire her. Now, the rest of us need to get out there and figure out what we need to do to "stop this war." Maybe she can help us in this endeavor.
P.S. I signed her "petition" and I'm hoping that I can get out there to "Crawford" to help the "cause."
Subject: American Soldiers Killed by Military Ordnance
By golly! Our soldiers are being killed by conventional military ordnance that was left in unguarded ammunition dumps. Our military brain trust commanded by Generalissimo G.W. "Butcher" Bush took care of making sure that the soldiers guarded the REALLY important stuff like the oilfields. Who could have foreseen that the terrorists who flooded into Iraq after we destabilized the place would have been interested in conventional ordnance! Ya know... It's a really good thing that Saddam DIDN'T have those weapons of mass destruction. Had that been the case, these terrorists would have WMDs now. Except for the ones that Bush would have used in his victory parade.

[BuzzFlash Note: Did you notice, too, that Rumsfeld blames the Iran/Iraq border for the conventional ordnance?]
Subject: Cindy Sheehan
Dear friends at the BUZZ:
I'm with you in wanting the Shrub to talk to Cindy. It's part of his job, or should be...
But I want you all to remember that Republican control of state and local governments can wreak as much havoc as at the federal level. A case in point: (and this ties in to Cindy Sheehan's case)...
We forget about those who aren't killed "in the line of duty" or for "a noble cause"...
My friend, Mary Stewart's, daughter was murdered, though authorities labeled it a suicide ... I am an ex-cop, investigator, and have serious reservations (supported by forensic and other evidence) about the case...
Republicans have a lock on this county ... so the authorities will not re-examine the case, despite our voluminous evidence of not only who the culprit is, but the motive, access, etc.
Subject: Will Now Re-register as Independent ...
This will be my supreme protest to the corruptness of our current Senate and House.
I always knew where the republicans stood on issues that I've valued throughout my life. I now hold the same disdain for my party of forty years. Most demos today are as corrupt morally and legally as any republican, some even more so. My support now will go to the candidate who supports my core beliefs no matter their political affiliation. I have notified the DNC of this decision. My financial support albeit small in the future will go to candidates I consider worthy.
The criminal administration in power today would never have run roughshod over America and its citizens if democrats had not allowed them to. The democrats are losing their base rapidly. They have lost touch with the average American voter.
Subject: Just To Let You Know
Greetings again, everybody.
BuzzFlash, the letters you post just continue to keep getting better and better. For the first time in a long time I feel some hope. Thank you so much -- and this just to let Brendan O' Maidian of New York, NY, know that, even though he experienced difficulty sending a letter of support to Cindy Sheehan on AOL, he can go to Moveon.org and sign the petition they have, gathering signatures of support for Cindy, with a space for comments from supporters. In the cause of Truth, thanks again BuzzFlash!

Subject: Cindy Sheehan's Full Mailbox
Alas, someone who is bound to be getting huge amounts of email can indeed have a mailbox that is too full resulting in further incoming mail being rejected.
I work for an ISP so I can tell you there is probably nothing sinister about this. AOL or any other provider of email server space will generally have an upper limit. What the limit is and how messages over the limit are handled is determined by the ISP. My ISP will give you a warning but still allow you access to new incoming mail if you are downloading it to your own computer. If you are using our web-based email interface, you will not be able to view new messages until enough space is freed by deleting older messages, but in neither case are the messages returned to the sender.
AOL has millions of member email accounts and thus is likely to do things a bit differently. You must also take into consideration that one of the reasons for limiting incoming email in huge quantities is often a result of spam prevention measures that kick in automatically.
I hope this helps clarify why email may be rejected by the recipient's server.

Subject: Ralph Nader's Gall
Why is Buzzflash giving space to Ralph Nader's open letter to Cindy Sheehan? Ralph Nader, and his inflated ego and love of his own voice, are the reasons we have George W. Bush for our president. If Ralph Nader had done the right thing in 2000, we wouldn't be in Iraq today. Don't waste valuable Buzzflash real estate on his tired attempts to get more publicity for himself. And ah yes, just in time for the run-up to 2008.
Congrats ... .for your Wings of Justice Award. She deserves it, if anyone on earth does.
Subject: Urgent need for supplies to keep Cindy going
Hi--I just read this message from Joe Trippi on dailykos about the conditions in the Drainage Ditch Camp. He said he just talked to Cindy, who is running a fever and has a sore throat. They are dealing with a drenched "camp" after 3 1/2 inches of rain and they need supplies. Surely, we can figure out a way to get them help. Thanks.
Subject: Permanent Military Bases in Iraq?
When are the media going to start investigating the construction of at least a dozen permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq? The mainstream press has all but ignored this story. This should be a headline on the front page of every major newspaper in America, as it confirms the lies that we are being told.
Bush and Rumsfeld say that we will turn Iraq over to the Iraqis and that we will only stay until the Iraqis can protect themselves against the insurgency. Lies!! Why isn't this being reported? Why are the media ignoring all the lies?
Perhaps this letter could instigate some investigation into this travesty. If other news outlets read BuzzFlash, then maybe we can start something going here.
