Subject: Rove is not a distraction, but a connection
I have to disagree with the BuzzFlash reader who opined that Rove is a distraction. Joe Wilson's article in the NYT was the first real outing of the Bush administration, as the craven liars that they are, that got any attention at all in the American news media. That is precisely why the White House launched an all-out offensive on him and his wife. Wilson had hit them where it hurts and they were furious.
Rather than being a distraction, the attack on Wilson and his wife (which has been slammed into high gear again, it seems, given the Rethug talking points) is a reminder that all of the reasons we were given for invading and occupying Iraq were damnable lies and that they knew it. The Downing Street Memos, the outing of a CIA operative, who was an expert in WMD non-proliferation (of all things) are all part of the same scandal. What we have to do is connect them in the minds of the people.
Which brings us to a question that no one seems to be asking and which needs to be answered: The Brits have said that the documents that started the whole Niger/Uranium/ Saddam lie were very crudely forged documents. The FBI was supposed to be investigating this. Whatever happened to that investigation? Who forged those documents?
I don’t think we really have to ask why, as the motive is clear. Whoever it was, wanted the U.S., and the Coalition of the Coerced, to invade Iraq. The last we heard was that the documents came out of Italy, but there the trail seems to have ended.
Why is no one asking how that FBI investigation is going? Just one more question that needs to be answered?
Does anyone really believe that Rove did this all on his own? Even if he did, has Bush never, in all this time, asked him if he talked to reporters about Plame, or "Mrs. Wilson"?
Who is the second high official cited by Novak? Let us not forget, that after all the crimes of Nixon, it was a "third-rate burglary" that began the road to impeachment. It was another Rethug administration, paranoid and over-reaching.
Subject: Reminder: It's Treason-Gate
About a year ago you were consistently using "Treasongate" as the meme for betraying Plame, and national security.
Now that other things — Downing Street Minutes, sending troops in without protection, helping China take advantage of the US, etc., etc. are also in the mix — I think we have a pretty good case that this administration engages in a pattern of undermining the spirit and the letter of the Constitution and the law in general.
"Treasongate" has a nice summarizing ring to it, and should be used, in my opinion.

Subject: "Need To Know" Basis
One of the callers to a liberal talk show today brought up a great point which I can personally attest to. As a military veteran, I can tell you that there is one phrase that rings through my mind to this day regarding top secret security clearances. You can only divulge information "on a strictly NEED TO KNOW basis." Whether Rove named names or not is irrelevant. He should not have been talking to the press about a CIA agent at all! If he was in the military, it would be a clear violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and he would be subject to court martial. As a senior White House official, he certainly knew what he was doing, and he should be sent to prison for a good long time for his treasonous actions. It was clearly revenge on Mr. Wilson. How sickening!
Subject: Rove's Source?
Michael Isikoff NEWSWEEK has reported that "Colin Powell," while on a trip with Bush to Africa, signed out classified documents that stated that Joe Wilson's wife worked at CIA. Along with Bush and Powell were several top White House aides. No names were mentioned as to whom these aides were. Was Rove on this trip? Did Bush tell Rove about Plame? Did Powell squeal on Plame? Did Cheney garner this info while looking over the shoulder of the CIA? Who gave Bob Novak the Valerie Plame name?
FACT! SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE IS GUILTY OF THE TREASONOUS ACT OF OUTING VALERIE PLAME! Plain and simple.
THE 'DOWNING STREET MEMOS' ARE NOW TOTALLY FORGOTTEN!
THIS IS THE WAY THE BUSHITES AND CORPORATE MEDIA WORK! MILLER IS SIMPLY A COMPLICITOUS PIGEON (PLANT) IN THIS STORY. ALL ARE DOING THEIR PART TO PERFECTION FOR ROVE-BUSH-CHENEY.
Subject: one more thing about rove
Something I don't see being pointed out a whole lot: Karl Rove was FIRED by George H.W. Bush for leaking information -- to Robert Novak.
That was in Bush's Brain, too - saw you put that DVD back up. :)
I believe someone wrote in a letter to "Mailbag" that he wished someone would ask scott mcclellan if he had consulted an attorney. If that is the case, I wanted to let him know that someone did:

Subject: Food for thought
Below is a copy of an email I sent to my congresscritters which you might find useful and informative.
This letter is to make two points and to ask for your assistance.
First, I’d like to point out that the message "we fight them there so they can't come here" (or any versions or equivalent expressions), currently being used by the Bush Administration does not sound like a reasonable strategy by any stretch of the imagination.
Due to the lion’s share of our National Guard being strewn all across the Iraq, we are particularly weak at our borders. Considering the great numbers of illegal aliens coming across our borders every day, they obviously can come here if they choose.
Which brings me to the second point.
I am concerned because there is a high probability that the message they’re sending will likely be interpreted by insurgents/terrorists and their recruiters as a taunt, or dare, for them to bring the fight on over "HERE" to mainland USA.
Because it is obviously ill considered and increases the probability of the danger to Americans every time it is publicly proclaimed, I am requesting that you ask the Senate to seriously consider censuring anyone who either utters or publicizes this, or any similar form of this jingoistic expression.
I fully realize that free speech is the constitutional right of all Americans, but I strongly believe that broadcasting statements like their "flytrap theory" falls into the same category as yelling "Fire" in a crowded movie theater. Such speech poses a very real danger to the American public and is comparable to the president’s ill considered "Bring it on," when he appeared to have been taunting insurgents back in July of 2003.
Except that in place of increasing the harm to our troops, he and his Administration are obviously challenging terrorists to fight us here in OUR homeland instead of theirs.

[BuzzFlash Note: We agree these taunts increase our danger; but do you seriously think Congress would censure Bush, our taunter-in-chief?]
Subject: any smart media outlet ...
... would take ann coulter's video appearances talking about clinton when he was embroiled in scandal and compare what she says now to what she said then. that would make some really interesting, educational, and see-if-she-is-a-hypocrite watching!!! dontcha think? know anyone that can put some clips together? where are the archives from bill maher's old show, politically correct. i am sure there are clips from hannity and colmes and other shows. it would be a wonderful statement on ann coulter's dedication to truth.
Subject: When can Bush start pardoning people?
At what point can Bush pardon any of these people? Nixon was pardoned but what was he officially convicted of? I thought he was pardoned before a trial that would have sent him to the pokey? If the trail goes to Bush and he isn't indicted at the same time, can he name a VP while he is under indictment? Say it only goes to Cheney ... can the congress filibuster a VP nomination? Bush could make his brother or worse VP. I'd like to know more about how the pardon can work here. You know Bush will use the pardon as political weapon and never blink, this is literally a political cult, they will do anything when cornered.
