The BuzzFlash Mailbag The opinions expressed in the Mailbag are not necessarily those of BuzzFlash. Read the BuzzFlash FAQ for info on submitting to the Mailbag. THIS IS PART 2 OF THE JUNE 27, 2005 BUZZFLASH MAILBAG. CLICK HERE FOR PART 1 Subject: Hillary and Bill I got up this morning just in time to watch part of the Jim Bohannan show on c-span. Seems that C- span has sunk to a new level of LOW! He had as a guest ... Ed Klein ... Yes, that one. The book that almost everyone including Fox Newswatch ... has panned ... can you believe that Cal Thomas has bashed this book? They had a call in by the time I watched it ... and the calls were the usual ... "Hate Bill and Hillary." People who cannot even explain to you why they hate them! I listened and they were, "This book is not going to change anyone's opinion of Hillary ... I have hated them both since I can remember" ... You all know the kind. I picked up the Post Dispatch ... and In the 'News/gossip/scoops article on P.2 ... by Harry Levins ... Post Dispatch senior writer, wrote the following!!! Apparently, at Rev. Graham's opening night of his crusade ... Bill Clinton introduced him, had praised the way Mr. Graham came to Little Rock during the segregation and eventual integration of the Little Rock schools. Incidentally, the hated Hillary was with Bill! When Mr. Graham took the podium ... he said, he thought that Bill Clinton should follow in his footsteps ... become an evangelist ... and his wife should run the country!" The Rev. Graham ... is so respected by everyone ... I just wonder if Ed O'Neill caught any part of it! P.2. News/Gossip/scoops ... by Harry Levins ... Post dispatch senior writer (6/26/05). Shirley PS: Has anyone ever seen George Bush enter or leave any church without it being a political speech or fundraiser? Please respond if you have! (good luck) Subject: I Hope and Pray that All the Bush Backers Can Live With It for the Rest of Their Lives Eventually, in time, (and it won't be too long) the lies and the deception of George W. Bush and his entire administration will be exposed, in total, and all of the exposure will be completely founded by fact. The sad part of it is that many, many more innocent people will be killed, murdered, or maimed for life, many of them Americans, many of them Iraqis, many of them from other parts of the world. And nothing can be done to bring them back ... NOTHING. For their families, their wives, and husbands, their boyfriend and their girlfriends, for their parents, for their children ... all of them will have to go through the remainder of their lives without these loved ones that they had held such high hopes for, for a wonderful future, filled with love, with success and filled with with love of life. For the dead, for the injured and maimed, none of this will occur. None of it will happen and for their families, they will have to endure this pain for the rest of their lives, the pain of not having their loved ones with them. And, what will they have given up all of this for? For the security of our nation?? NO. For the safety of our people? NO. What they will have made the sacrifice for will be for the personal vendetta, the personal grudge, and the lunacy of one George W. Bush. And to all of those that continue to support this man, who continue to say that he is doing the right thing ... I feel sorry for all of you, too, for you shall all have to endure the same pain that these family members will feel. In time you will know that you could have stood up and said something that would have stopped this illegal carnage and, perhaps, saved a lot of lives, both American and Iraqi. When this is all over, if it ever ends, we will have learned, IMO, that it was all in vain, that nothing will have changed and that all of these wonderful people will have died for Bush, and for nothing else. What a pity. And to all of those that are still believing, and BLINDLY backing Mister Bush, I feel sorry for you, sorry that you will have to endure what you did NOT do, for the rest of your lives. The blood, and the destruction will be on your hands as much as it is on Mister Bush's. Yes, he is the president, and under normal circumstances we should always believe in and follow our leader. But this time it is different. Mister Bush has used a personal grudge to send our troops into a battle that needed NOT to be fought. They were in the right place, at the right time (Afghanistan) until Mr. Bush decided it was the right time to deceive the American people and that the time was right where he could fulfill his personal vendetta. He knew that the American people would BLINDLY follow him. Well now, finally, the truth is coming forward. And, as I said I can only hope, and pray, that those that are still blindly following this person, Mister Bush, that they too will see through his lies and his deceit ... and pray that something changes, soon, so our brave men and women, and many more innocent Iraqis, do NOT have to die, or be maimed, for Mister Bush's vendetta. I don't want all of you to have to live with DOING NOTHING TO HELP TO SAVE THEM, for the rest of your lives. I, for one, could not live with that. And, I doubt that none of you could, either. GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Mike Allen Subject: Is America a Democracy? I have been asking myself this question for some time now and I have to say that the evidence has long been tilting in the direction of Fascist Oligarchy. I could cite so much evidence but for the sake of brevity, I will only cite a couple of solid facts. Have a look at how we conduct elections. The Secretary of State oversees the elections while simultaneously holding public office for one of the involved parties. If this is not bad enough, they are often a part of the campaign of one of the candidates. Two presidential elections in a row have ended with controversies involving states in which the Secretary of State (also State Campaign Chair) was in charge of an investigation of allegations of fraud. In both cases the Secretary of State (Katherine Harris and Kenneth Blackwell) parlayed that notoriety, derived out of scandal, into runs for United States Congress. In both cases, the Secretary of State's party emerged victorious. In both cases, the decisions of the Secretary of State directly determined who would be president of the United States. If this is not a conflict of interest, what is? In the 2002 mid-term congressional elections, a group of Republicans in New Hampshire collaborated to hire a telemarketing firm to jam the phone lines of the Democratic Party headquarters on the election day in an attempt to prevent the Democrats from getting out the vote. It succeeded. John Sununu, a high school classmate of mine, unseated the popular former Governor Gene Shaheen in one of the big surprises of the 2002 election. So far Chuck McGee, the former Executive Director of the New Hampshire Republican Party, has pled guilty and was sentenced to serve 7 months in prison. He is expected to testify in the case against one of his partners, James Tobin, who was Bush's 2004 New England Campaign Chairman prior to these allegations surfacing. Bill Frist, the Majority Leader of the United States Senate has admitted to working closely with James Tobin but denies having any knowledge of the phone-jamming scheme. Disgusted yet? Better get the Pepto Bismol. Sleazy manipulation is not used solely to subvert your voting rights. They are also using it to pass legislation. Listen to the following Hyperlink of a voice vote in the House of Representatives. http://movies.crooksandliars.com/putnam.mp3 Voice votes are very convenient because there is no paper trail of how the politicians vote. The feed is from C-Span and it is in reference to an amendment that has been sponsored by Congressman George Miller (D CA). He is proposing that the taxpayers of America not be forced to bail out United Airlines, who is defaulting on its pension commitments to its employees. Did it sound to you like the nays had it? Me neither. Did you just hear what I heard? I heard a dictator subverting the will of your elected representatives. The Scum who was chairing that vote was Congressman Adam Putnam. (R FL) Why do you suppose he wanted to take your money and give it to United Airlines? Fortunately there is a happy ending here. Democrats forced a roll call vote and the amendment passed. But how much of this has happened when no one was watching the till? Do you really want these people making decisions for you? These men are so corrupted, they defy conventional terms. They are liars, manipulators, thieves, full of avarice, greed, lacking any moral character whatsoever. They lose no opportunity to increase their hold on power while pretending to care about your interests. They call themselves conservative and espouse moral values while the only things they value are wealth and power. Paulskog Subject: Bush needs 58,000 names on a wall Even if there are eventually 58 thousand names engraved on an Iraq Memorial Wall, just like the Vietnam Wall, I doubt Bush will ever admit he made a mistake. I think Bush would gladly sacrifice the extra 56,000 American deaths for him to personally "save face." It only took Robert McNamara about forty years to admit he was wrong about Vietnam. This is eerily like Vietnam. The people that got us into the mess are the exact same idiots from the sixties who thought the Vietnam War protestors were the problem, not the war itself. Bush, Cheney, Rove and Rumsfeld did not learn one damn thing in the sixties. And now we are all paying the price for this extreme stupidity. We are all paying the price for this extreme bull-headedness in not being able to admit you were wrong. Bush, Cheney, Rove and Rumsfeld are all sociopaths on par with power hungry sociopaths throughout history, which, yes, includes Hitler. I'll repeat once more: I think Bush would gladly sacrifice 56 thousand more American deaths for him to personally "save face." As Seymour Hersh said:
Mike Reinholz Subject: Letter to the Editor - Rumsfeld Doesn't Like Iranian Elections Defense Secretary Rumsfeld doesn't like the outcome of the Iranian elections where the winning candidate won in a landslide getting 60% of the vote. Rumsfeld called it a mock election complaining that the 8 candidates they had to choose from were somehow fixed. Here in the USA we don't have 8 candidates to choose from. We have only 2 which are chosen by political insiders. We had Skull and Bones man Bush vs. Skull and Bones man Kerry, with the electronic voting machines under the control of the Republican party. Bush won the previous election only because the Republican-controlled Supreme Court stopped the vote count and illegally declared Bush the winner. This election was won by rigging voting machines in Florida to swap the totals in Democrat-dominated counties in Florida. So it seems to me that we are hardly in a position to criticize the outcome of Iran's elections. But Rummy would have to make that claim because he is moving to invade Iran next. Who would have thought we would see the day when Iran had freer elections than America? Marc Perkel Subject: Why? I am an American citizen. However, I lived in Britain throughout Bill Clinton's administration. The vilification that went on did not escape me. What I want to know is ... where is the Democratic party when we need them? They kept relatively quiet when our then-President was slated time and again. Yet, where is the outrage for a needless war costing thousands of lives and billions of dollars? I hear little. BuzzFlash keeps me updated, which, on one hand, is great, but on the other, depressing. When are the Democrats going to call for impeachment of a lying, manipulative disaster of a President??? It was easy enough to get one for a blow job, why not the senseless loss of American lives? I would be sorely tempted to go back to Britain, but Blair is Bush's lapdog. What to do??? Sweetcinna Subject: Conservatives to the Front!! Buzz, We should applaud, embrace and take literally Rove's latest tirade. He unequivocally stated that only conservatives/Republicans are patriotic and gung-ho - and that liberals/Democrats are wimp-out traitors. That being the case, he is required by his own nationalistic fervor to refuse to draft, and to remove from service in Iraq and Afghanistan, all liberals/Democrats. And he must send to the front lines in both invaded countries, only those patriotic conservatives/Republican he lauds - Bush voters, Bush supporters and Young Republicans. It is only right that he follow up his words with this action. T. Quigly Subject: Rumsfeld has faith in Iraqi polls; discounts American polls! Once again we are treated to the unimpeachable (?) wisdom of our Secretary of Defense, who appeared on all the Sunday morning talk shows this week. Mr. Rumsfeld discussed the rather amazing "progress" in Iraq by referring to polls which showed increasing faith in the new "government" there. All the violence we see in Iraq can be discounted, since according to our astute secretary, the polls indicate the tide is turning! I should point out that Rumsfeld mentioned the Iraqi polls only in his Fox news interview. (What we miss by not watching this "fair and balanced" channel!) However, in all of his interviews, Rumsfeld made sure to say, in contra point to questions about the majority American opposition to the war, that he didn't concern himself with the recent polls on this matter. Apparently the American Secretary of Defense relies on Iraqi polls to let him no how his little war is going, but completely discounts the American polls. Should we feel slighted? Howie Subject: Will he ask Fox News? well if george bush is going to tell us next Tuesday night that this war is going to be a long haul ... since we are in a desperate situation not reaching our recruitment goals ... will bush ask all those young college republicans to sign up? will he ask his own family, all those nieces and nephews to sign up? will he ask all his rich friends' kids to sign up? will he ask all his war supporters and their kids at fox news to sign up? what do the bush twins do? they are in their mid-twenties now, do they have jobs now? what do they do with their time? kate Subject: Rally in DC Our friends at Impeachbush.org (former Atty. General Ramsey Clark's site) are organizing an impeachment rally for 9-24-05 in DC at the White House. It's time to say enough is enough to the Dictator. My idea is to (finally) unify the myriad progressive sites so that we can get EVERYONE in DC on 9/24 and force the MSM to pay attention. It would be great if you could post something about this on your site and maybe send out an e- to everyone on your list. Sign up for the march at impeachbush.org. See you in DC... Thanks. James Cirile No doubt Karl Rove put out that nonsense about “liberals” to distract critics as well as to reassure those Republicans whose knees have gone a bit wobbly about the way the war in Iraq is going. Trying to get even the party faithful back on the same page regarding the war effort required some serious maneuvering, but Mr. Rove is always up to that assignment. What with Richard Perle abroad admitting there was no legal basis for our invasion but it was the right thing to do nonetheless, the Downing Street Memos airborne around the internet and in some mainstream media, news that a bombing campaign had been carried out six months before the “decision” to invade, and growing dissent over the conduct of the war and concern about our treatment of prisoners, Karlrovian diversion was sorely needed ... Ann Davidow Subject: "Gitmo" Is anyone else bothered by the term "Gitmo"? Such a 'cutesy' term serves to trivialize the reality of the place. It was no doubt intended to sound like a 'fun' place - suitable for those who are partying it up in the tropics! A BuzzFlash Reader [BuzzFlash Note: Wikipedia's history of Gitmo is interesting. "GTMO" is the Navy's abbreviation for "Guantanamo." Subject: Cheerleaders
You understand the irony of this situation? Bush and Lott, both men, were also cheerleaders but did not deign to commit themselves to any military action. The Rhode Islander, on the other hand and gender, did commit and put herself to the life and death test. Alamaine Subject: RUMSFELD - 6 DAYS, OR 12 YEARS, WHO'S QUIBBLING? WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?
ANYONE CARE TO EAT HIS WORDS? FALL ON HIS SWORD? RESIGN IN DISGRACE? A BuzzFlash Reader Subject: Bush Twins - Patriotic Service I'm waiting for a news person to ask the President: "Mr. Bush, given that you volunteered to defend our nation in a time of war, do you think it would serve as a positive example to the American people if your daughters were to join our armed forces today?" Steve Day Subject: "Today Show" Wisdom BuzzFlash, In case your readers missed Monday's Today Show, here is some Wisdom from Michael Beschloss as interview by Katie Couric. Katie was very concerned about what Bush could do to increase his popularity, again demonstrating her great empathy for the downtrodden. "A president running an unpopular war will have a low popularity rating." "Bush is concerned with his legacy not his popularity rating. 30 Years from now, he may be considered a great president." And I thought all Bush was concerned about was accumulating wealth and power in his lifetime. What would we do without the "Today Show?" Larry |
