Subject: Bringing Down a President
Pat Buchanan et al., routinely describe the act of Mark Felt's leaking information to the press as "bringing down President Nixon." Ah, if only it was true that the mere act of passing information to the press could end a presidency! For example, information that the President dodged his military commitments, that he ignored warnings of terrorist attacks with airplanes, that he fixed intelligence to justify a war. But, alas, simply passing information has no such power. It was, self-evidently, the criminal behavior of Richard Nixon that ended his Presidency, not Mark Felt. Likewise (but, sadly, probably only in some parallel universe) George W. Bush may finally be brought low by his own criminal conduct.
Subject: Christianity being pushed in dining facilities in Iraq (reprinted from Stars and Stripes)
DFACs not for religion
There are many chapels on Camp Anaconda, Iraq, for religious services. When one wants to participate or hear religious jaw-jacking, that is where one goes.
There are also many dining facilities. When one is hungry and wants to get something to eat, this is where one goes. When religious services, Bible quoting and gospel singing are held during meal times in the DFACs, this amounts to disrespect for those of other religions and those of no religion.
In the wake of the recent Air Force Academy scandal concerning religious intolerance, one would think those who run the religious departments on Anaconda would reconsider pushing their religion on a captive audience, not only on those who are there just to get something to eat but also on those who work in the DFACS who are of a different faith or no faith at all.
Is it really too much to ask that the preaching and pushing of Christianity be held within the chapels, where those who wish it can seek it there and those who do not wish to hear it will not be held captive and forcibly subjected to Christian ritualism?
I don’t go into the chapels to eat my breakfast, so the religiously inclined should show the same respect and not come into a dining facility to preach their religion.
Subject: KS State Senator Kay O'Connor
Once again, I am embarrassed for my state of Kansas. As if it weren't enough to have us all humiliated by the "intelligent design" crazies, now we have State Sen. Kay O'Connor saying women should never have had the vote. It shows up a "weakness in the American family" for women to participate in democracy.
I notice her convictions haven't prevented her from participating in the political process. But wait, I remember from a few years back that Sen O'Connor explained her political career as the result of her husband's negligence. Evidently he failed to support her, and so she had to work at something.
Since Sen. O'Connor believes that women should be the "heart" of the family, I have to ask: Who's cooking her husband's dinner tonight?
Another question: WHO ARE THESE WACKOS AND WHY ARE THEY SURFACING IN KANSAS? Kansas is a lovely state, full of salt-of-the-earth people. I love living here. But it's mortifying when these crazies make us all look like a bunch of lunatics. PLEASE, Sen. O'Connor's constituents, vote her out of office so she can be the heart of her family, as (she thinks) God intended.
It would be funny if it weren't so embarrassing.
Subject: Many Benefits of BuzzFlash
I read BuzzFlash all the time. I think the benefits of BuzzFlash are numerous, but I wanted to mention one thing in particular. You have given smaller newspapers and news organizations a much larger voice in our country and the world by linking to their headlines and editorials from your site.
So, in addition to helping tell the whole story, BuzzFlash also empowers other outlets. I think that's great.
Subject: I Have an Answer!
Your question: "When Will the Criminal Liars in the White House be Held Accountable, Prosecuted and Placed in Jail for Deceiving the American Public, Falsely Accusing the Media, and Putting America's National Security at Grave Risk? When? 64"
The answer is: when we can convert our incessant belly-aching about the facts as they exist into tangible, forceful political and organizational actions.
Howard Dean is not enough. We need an entire echo chamber of Howard Deans.
Take back the airwaves. The Republicans want to un-fund the FCC so that it can not enforce bandwidth. Fine. Let's start a load of microstations across the country in key areas that blast the truth about the Republicans on top of ClearChannel's pablum.
Let's take over satellite radio. Let's take over the Internet. Lock down ClearChannel and Time Warner and place them squarely in Democratic hands. By force, if necessary.

Subject: Hillary Moves to Center??
I have BuzzFlash sent to me every day and find it very useful in my daily campaign to open the eyes of Bushco supporters, well done BF! I have to take issue with Mrs. Mary MacElveen's open letter to Hillary Clinton. I don't believe Mrs. Clinton has shifted to the center and I think Mrs. MacElveen has fallen prey to right-wing talking heads who insist that everything Mrs. Clinton says or does is a move to the center. I just read an article in Media Matters that explains this.
Clinton has allegedly become more hawkish on foreign and defense policy, particularly in her service on the Senate Armed Services Committee. Proponents cite her support for the Iraq war -- something that has not changed from the beginning -- as a recent example of repositioning.
By stating that efforts to reduce the number of abortions through adequate birth control can serve as common ground between pro-choice and pro-life forces, Clinton has supposedly moved to the center on abortion -- although she has not changed her position on anything having to do with abortion, whether the larger issue of reproductive rights or specific issues such as parental consent.
Her discussion of her personal religious faith is also offered as proof of the alleged move to the center, though Clinton has been quoted on this topic going back at least a decade.
In short, proponents have failed to locate any specific policy issues on which Clinton has actually shifted positions -- to the center or in any other direction. But when she takes a position or makes an argument that seems at odds with proponents' perception of liberal orthodoxy, they characterize it as a "move" or a "shift," even if she has taken the same position throughout her career. I find Mrs. Clinton's comments on the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq refreshingly consistent, even though I disagree with her. I think we should withdraw, let the Iraqis fight it out, and then support the winner.
The more I hear the Republicans and Fox News attacking Howard Dean ... the more I realize he was the perfect choice! go Howard Dean!

Subject: A threatening email from the minutemen
I have been reading BuzzFlash for awhile, and I thought of you guys when I received this reply to an email I wrote to the minutemen. After reading a yahoo article that they plan to come to Texas, I wrote them that they weren't welcome here. This is what I wrote:
Look at the threatening email I received from them. I sent a copy to my rep and US senator.
I feel that I need to get this out to others so that people know what we are dealing with. I Know that you receive tons of emails every day, but consider this. Thank you.

Subject: I See They've Done It Again ...
Once again the criminal administration releases a critical report late on a Friday. This time it seems that "A guard's urine came through an air vent and splashed on a detainee and his Quran." *gasp* Sounds as bad or worse than flushing, doesn't it? Gee, where's the outrage? What do you bet Muslims the world over will be sickened by this, but our holier-than-thou leaders will deny, deny, deny.
Tell me, just *how* does a guard's urine come to spray through an air vent? It *couldn't* be on purpose ... could it? I'm sure there's a good, Godly explanation for the entire incident ... either that, or it was simply the work of yet another bad apple.
Yet again we are witness to the criminal, disrespectful, lying, corrupt administration that has been inflicted on this country, and once again, they try to bury the news by releasing it late on a Friday, hoping that no one will notice. I think people ARE starting to notice. The rumblings from both the left and the saner versions of the right are getting louder. I truly hope that within the next 3 12 years this country rises up and takes back the democracy that belongs to us. The criminals are sounding more desperate all the time. They can't keep this up forever.
We all must raise our voices in protest of everything done in *OUR* names. I've signed Congressman Conyer's letter ... have you? Bring the criminals to justice. Enough already!
As always, I must express my gratitude to BuzzFlash for keeping me sane. Many, many thanks to those expressive individuals like Shirley Smith and Leutisha Stills--please keep writing and stirring the pot! And to all of you ... keep buzzing! Let them know they've stirred up a hive of angry bees who won't be silenced or ignored.
Subject: Several headlines re Downing Street Memo
Several members and advisors to Tony Blair quit just about the time of the Downing Street memo. All were questioning the legality of the war.
John Conyers has a request for anyone with information to email him. Perhaps if someone did some research and published the following - google Clare Short quits, Robin Cook quits, Lord Goldsmith's secretary quits (Elizabeth Wilmhurst). If we could just get the attention of someone in congress who would speak with them ... They all quit Blair's government because of their personal objections to the war in Iraq. Below are some links to their stories:

Subject: C-span Misconception
I was watching c-span this sat. a.m. and got very distressed about the guest with the most dangerous book list. On the list was Darwin's "Origin Of Species," Sinclair's " The Jungle," "Mein Kampf" and the usual communist writings. I wrote to c-span to object, but had to write back and apologize because I realized they were keeping us informed about what the reich-wing neocons are up to. So to the other Buzzer that was upset with c-span also, re-think your assessment. Thanks to BuzzFlash for being there for us.
Subject: Republican president and warrior says: War "is humanity hanging from a cross of iron"
Here's part of one of Eisenhower's great speeches. It just gives you chills.
Dwight Eisenhower was everything George W. Bush is not. Ike was self-made, accomplished, worldly and thoughtful. He would find George W.'s impetuous, visceral, bullying approach to the world reckless and foolhardy

Subject: "Never Occurred"
Official White House statement on mistreatment of the Quran: "Yes, we did wipe our ass with it. Multiple times. But we in NO WAY, EVER, positively NEVER flushed it down the toilet! That is a FALSE liberal-press generated lie. It simply never occurred..."
Subject: Are all these news sources lying? (sent to corporate media)
All over the world, the story about the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay being sold for US bounty cash is spreading. But cons in the USA continue to inhale the fragrance of their own rectal polyps ...
Subject: Downing Street Memo
Ever seen one of those movies about ghosts who try to communicate with living people, usually to warn them about something? Hard as they try, the frustrated ghosts just can't get the living people to pay attention to them, no matter how desperately they try. We in the movie audience feel very frustrated because we want the the living persons in the movie to pay attention so they can save or protect themselves.
Well, that's how I see the Downing Street Memo. We in the audience, at least those of us who care, can see and read the memo. We know that it's there, not some imaginary, spurious, faked document, because the British government produced it and refuses to denounce it. We read about it on the internet blogs, hear about it on BBC and Air America, or read about it on-line in BuzzFlash or in the Guardian newspaper in the UK.
But most living people in the United States seem to be unable to see it. It's a ghost memo hanging around out there trying to get the attention of the living people, especially those at CNN, the NYT, the WP, the WSJ, the news magazines, Fox News, MSNBC, the network news departments, and all the other news media in the country. It's as if all these people are looking right through it. And to complicate things, they can't even hear the protestations of the few people who have been granted the extra-perceptual ability to see it.
Or, maybe it's like a sci fi comic book. Maybe some sinister right-wing scientist has developed a special invisible gas that has been expelled into every news room in the United States which renders the rooms' occupants with a temporary disability to read any kind of revelation which might bring down the Bush government.
Subject: See The Happy Moron; An Ode To Indifference!
Concerned Americans are speaking out, but half of Americans still are not paying attention to our Government! So many of us have asked, "Where’s the outrage? The media must be reminded, we keep them alive and deserve the truth! "See the happy moron, He doesn’t give a damn, I wish I were a moron- My God, perhaps I am!
The Bush Administration never apologizes, never explains, considering all that to be a sign of weakness. It DOES lie, distort, cover-up, however! The Bush Administration, and most Republicans do what they want, and neither the people, nor the media hold them accountable for their outrages! America sees or hears it all, but it is like they are looking at the destruction of our Democracy, and world respect from a long distance away! "Not in America, they say, looking over their shoulder, and then they head for the mall!
Our nation is moving in the wrong direction, we cannot be silent and neither can those in Congress, who were chosen to represent us! THE DOWNING STREET MEMO! SPEAK OUT NOW! BUSH MUST GO!
Subject: Bush impeachment
I have wondered about, instead of impeaching this administration (ALL of them), just make sure they ALL have to resign ... and NO pensions ... perhaps this would be one way to get the point across. Impeachment, with the majority there is, seems less and less likely. Any suggestions?

Subject: Iran And China
Just wondering. Does Dimbulb feel he can take on Iran and China at the same time? Do I feel a 'draft?'
Rumsfeld is now beating the drum about China and the idea that Chinese arms threaten Asia. With Rumsfeld, Cheney, and Dimbulb talking all of this up, it is clear that they have some plans.
As I said, do I feel a 'draft?'
Subject: Jeb Bush
Tell me it's my IMAGINATION ... Jeb Bush will be our next President IF the DEMS don't FIX the voting fraud machines ... not a peep out of them. I don't understand why the populace would even bother voting if this problem is not resolved PRONTO ... I'm certainly not going to bother voting and waste my time, when everything is once again 'set in stone' for the Republicans.
