Subject: Filibuster Deal
Subject: Recruiting Booths at all Republican Gatherings
I don't see how the republicans could have forgotten to include
army recruiting booths at all their gatherings. Considering recruitment
is down and there are so many believers present. Maybe it's a
good idea to place army recruiting ads in all right-winger publications.
Why not? This a sure-fire way to increase recruitment and relieve
the troops. Can't you do that much for them (troops)? After all,
your big mouths and small minds sent them there.
Subject: Should The President Have Been Told?
I've always been under the impression that Mr. Cheney is calling the shots in the White House. Or perhaps I'd call it a co-presidency with George Bush as Head of State and Dick Cheney as Head of Government. Either way, I have to wonder if the reason that President Bush was not informed of the pending airplane attack last week was because Vice President Cheney was on the scene and sufficiently in charge. Recall that it was Mr. Cheney who held the reins throughout much of the day on September 11th.
Maybe this is an effective business arrangement, but I find
it dishonest to the public. Americans voted for a "compassionate
conservative" for a President when in fact a far-right, if
not libertarian, may actually be running the show. The fact that
Cheney was the one on-call during these two high security events
only makes me wonder just how much George Bush is truly "faithfully
executing the Office of the President of the United States."
Subject: Filibuster Deal
I think you all are overestimating Karl. He has been overreaching a lot lately. Karl, Dick, George, et al. have been strong-arming all their own folks. That works when the home folks, the voters, are on Karl's side. In this case, they weren't.
The Republicans, Frist especially, came off looking like "spoiled brats," and the polls reflect this. There were lots of Republicans that wanted to have this whole issue go away, or would have sided with the Dems if they thought they could get away with it. They can't feel good about being put in that position. John McCain gave them cover. He let them save face (George, too, but I guess I can live with that). By doing so, he enhanced his own influence, and got a little payback ... always a bonus ... while looking like a "grown-up."
McCain is now the frontrunner for 2008, and Frist is a lame duck. The Republican party is a little more split, and Bush wasted his "political capital" on another loser. What's not to like? Yeah, the three that get votes are wackos, but most of Bush's previous nominees are, too. Meanwhile, Reid played rope-a-dope, and paid very little for a victory ... and having the filibuster available for the Supremes IS a victory.
The battle is not over. This is just the first engagement. It
is important because it insures that there WILL BE another engagement.
And when the Republicans try to pull this crap again ... .they
will again be acting like "spoiled children". And THAT
is what the voters will notice.
Subject: I WANT ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS NOW ... SENT TO MY
SENATORS AND CONGRESSMAN (SHOULD BE SENT TO YOURS, TOO)
1. Why have the detainees at Guantanamo not been charged with any crime after 3 1/2 years?
2. Where is Jose Padilla?
3. Who has been rendered and where to and why?
4. Why was the Pat Tillman death hidden from his parents?
5. Why has the second part of the 9/11 investigation not been released?
6. Why has the administration not reported its recollection of the Downing Street memo?
7. Why is everything classified and secretive?
8. Where is all the lost money from the CPA in Iraq? and the lost money in the Pentagon?
9. Why has there been no information on the 2 planes that went down over Iraq about 3 weeks ago?
10. Why is Medicare Rx bill not being repealed? Congress was lied to about its cost ... an auditor was threatened if he told the truth and a congressman was bribed to change his vote. It needs a fresh new vote.
11. Why have the lies of this administration not been addressed? Why is he not being impeached and charged with war crimes? If Bill Clinton can be impeached for a BJ, then, certainly, lies to get us into war and all the deaths should be grounds for impeachment.
What are the results of all the investigations on everything from a-z that this administration always says it is going to do and never does?
I HAVE SO MANY MORE. How do I get these answered? How do I get in front of congress to have them answered? This is America, we should have the right to ask questions. Why are people's tax dollars spent on star wars, and tax breaks and insurance for people who can afford their own, and Bush's jaunts around the country to speak to hand-picked fans about social security?
I am sick and tired of being shut out, having questions never asked or answered. How do I get them answered? No form letters please, I want a human person answering this. I am angry and fed up.
Subject: What Victory?
Subject: Battle of Midway II
Last night America experienced another Battle of Midway.
In the first six months of WWII, the Japanese navy went and did as it pleased all over the Pacific Ocean. Then in June, 1942, the US Navy made a desperate wager against a larger Japanese task force near Midway Island, roughly halfway between Hawaii and Japan. An outnumbered American admiral outsmarted the more powerful Japanese admiral and inflicted heretofore unheard-of damage. Not without heavy cost, our Navy exacted a toll of pilots and aircraft carriers that the Japanese were never able to replace. The Japanese were on the defensive from then on.
Midway turned out to be the turning point in the Pacific Theatre. Two months later, we began the long march to final victory with the invasion of Japanese-held Guadalcanal Island. Then three years later, the war was finally over.
Last night, Democrats in Congress gave America another Midway. Yes, it was a costly victory, but a victory nonetheless, and one we simply had to have. Just as with the naval battle 63 years ago, it was "Come to Jesus time" on the Hill, and an outnumbered Reid outsmarted the more powerful Dr. First. The rethuglicons paid dearly for what they'll call victory in public. But they and their minions who would turn our country into a feudal theocracy know better in private.
The Constitution was preserved. King George is now truly a lame, if not ruptured, duck. And Dr. First's presidential dreams are shattered forever. He will never regain the power he had this time yesterday. And come the mid-terms, the Democrats can begin their long march back as their fathers--and even a couple of them--did long ago, beginning at Guadalcanal Island.

Get on his mail list and get dispatches you will never hear from the MSM! For totals with commentary:
After all this time, Osama is still out there! Al-Zarqawi has been reported injured, but even if he is hurt, another one will take his place. We are well on our way to 1700 deaths of our soldiers, with 8 being killed in the last two days! Over 600 Iraqis have lost their lives since mid-April including 49 of our soldiers in that time period! Every day we hear more news out of Iraq and none of it is good, so the Administration and the military blows up news of captures, but other Jihadists take their place. Iraqi forces are nowhere near ready to take over and many high officials in the military predict a bleak outcome! Many say the country is on verge of a civil war, but don’t count on that news being told to the American people!
Each week brings more reports of abuse. THESE ARE FAR FROM ISOLATED INCIDENTS INVOLVING A “FEW” RANK AND FILE SOLDIERS NOW! An article in the New York Times shows “PATTERNS OF ABUSE.”
We hear of the “success” in Afghanistan despite trouble brewing and including a photo-op between Bush and Karzai making nice! Recent Anti-American demonstrations in Afghanistan because of the Koran story and the Bagram abuse story have caused dissent! The Taliban have reared their ugly heads and one is even going to try a run in the Parliamentary elections in September.
In Bagram, the Army is playing cover-up and again we see some troublesome documents disappearing down that mysterious black hole that Bush and the military have used before! From the NYT article:
A military policeman was sentenced for the beating death of a prisoner!
The UN calls the abuses in Afghanistan “utterly unacceptable!” They are calling for an independent rights group to investigate! "Such abuses are utterly unacceptable and an affront to everything the international community stands for," said Richard Provencher, spokesman for the UN in Afghanistan. "The gravity of these abuses calls for the punishment of all those involved in such inexcusable crimes."
We have seen the Bush regime go against the Geneva conference rules at will time and time again! Is it any wonder the world protests a President who winks at the rules others are expected to obey!
If we look truth in the face, we can not call the Iraq or Afghanistan War a “success,” we can not accept Mr. Bush’s word, and neither will history! WE ARE NOT MAKING PROGRESS! IT’S TIME TO BRING OUR TROOPS HOME NOW!

Subject: Small Texas Town Newspaper Publishes Name of Man Arrested for Soliciting Adult Homosexual Sex -- The Scarlet Letter
For years the Waxahachie, Texas, newspaper has published the identity of every single arrest made in their town. A few years ago I toured the fine city of Waxahachie with my parents who were considering relocating there for retirement. The newspaper had a section that identified all folks arrested that week for anything, including minor offenses like possession of drug paraphernalia. How does that help the community? Do they really believe humiliation is a good crime deterrent? How easy is it for their citizens to find a good job once they have been demonized in the local paper for committing minor criminal offenses? How many of their citizens lose their jobs when this information is made public?
How easy will life be for the homosexual man identified yesterday
in the online edition of the Waxahachie Daily Light following
his entrapment and arrest for soliciting adult homosexual sex?
He now has to face his fellow citizens in this tiny bigoted town
with the Albatross the paper hanged around his neck. The Waxahachie
police conducted an undercover sting operation and busted this
man for "deviant" behavior. Has anyone in town ever
been driven to suicide after the fair city reveals humiliating
information for all of their neighbors to see?
