Subject: It's Like a Bad Tom Clancy Movie

I can only stare in awe as the stupidest president in the history of any country speaks. I'm torn between laughing and disbelief. It must have been what it was like for Jewish families to listen to Hitler on the radio, thinking there is no way that this moron could take over. The bastard has said a thousand times that he doesn't give a f**k about polls or what the American people think. But he turns around today and says to democrats if they don't agree with his SS bullshit then they will pay for it in the polls. He has maintained all along that the polls are crap, and now he is threatening us with them?? I HATE THIS BASTARD!!!!! He's looking out for my SS welfare because he wants me to have money, but he won't raise the minimum wage? He has to be the most evil man on the planet.

Subject: Something wrong with his brain

We are curious. We heard GW Bush say as president when he sees a problem, he owes it to the American people to try and do something about it. Very noble. However, the Social Security is a problem in 35 years. Has anyone explained to Bush we have over 40 million people in this country with no health insurance now? We have senior citizens, the disabled and the very poor who need help now! But he is cutting money for them! There is something wrong with the way Bush thinks!

Subject: It's better than speaking to the rest of us ...

On NPR this morning they played a question from Bush's press conference and I don't recall it, but Bush answered, "I can only speak to myself."

Subject: Channel 4 - Beyond Iraq and a Hard Place

I imagine you have seen Bremner, Bird and Fortune's "Between Iraq and Hard Place." From Britain's Channel 4, it was broadcast in Jan 2003 just before the invasion of Iraq. It is still spot on and hilarious.

Find it here:
http://www.channel4.com/news/2003/special_reports/iraq_hard_place.html

A sequel was done in May 2003 - after the March invasion - called: BEYOND Iraq and a Hard Place

Find it here: http://www.channel4.com/news/2003/special_reports/beyond_iraq_hard_place.html

However, the video of the sequel is not available from Channel 4 outside the USA. FYI, theDossier.ukonline has BOTH videos in its excellent collection.

Find them here:

... in the "video" section scroll down to the section on the "Iraq War."

bigtime LOL.

Subject: Time Has Come Today

I'm not talking Chambers Brothers, I'm talkin' MONSTER. John Kay & Steppenwolf's album from the late 60's is way more relevant now than it was then. Give it a listen and you'll want to put it out for all to hear. It was banned then and got little play time on the waves, but put it out now [and make some bread] and I think it'll find a whole new audience. It's on MCA Records #31328.

Subject: Social Security

Since George Bush is promoting his Social Security charade, I haven't heard a word about the contribution that the employer would pay. I think this is the main reason why Bush is pushing this SS so much.

He could care less about the ordinary person. He is trying to protect the corporations from having to donate to SS.

So what happens when we invest in the stock market, and then have another corporate scandal? The middle guy is left out again.

Just tell them to keep their hands off Social Security, and everything will be fine.

We need to bring our outsourcing home again and make work for our own people so that SS will grow and we will be able to take care of our own.

A Maureen Farrell editorial, your posts of other writers inspired this project: HappenHere.com It was only up in time for a few readings before I left NYC for Ohio. Still, it's as relevant as ever. Thanks,

Subject: Charlie Rangel

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

You know, if President Bush was here, I would advise him as a friend and as an American that there are just three things you don't do. One, you don't spit against the wind. Two, you don't look under the lone ranger's mask. And three, you don't mess with our Social Security. -- Rep. Charlie Rangel, speaking at the Americans United to Protect Social Security, March 26, 2005

Subject: Why Is There a Drop in Military Recruitment?

There shouldn't be a drop in military recruitment, considering all the bush supporters who say they believe in the iraq invasion. How about those young republicans? It's enough of them to invade all of the middle east and have enough of them left alive to "spread freedom" in other places. I suggest that the recruiters spend 100% of their time in bush's stronghold, INSTEAD OF THE GHETTOS. There should be banners throughout the country with these words:

TO ALL BUSH SUPPORTERS, JOIN UP RIGHT AWAY. YOU AGREED WE ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY, FOR OUR SECURITY AND SPREADING FREEDOM. IT'S YOUR TURN AT BAT. ENLIST NOW! KICK IN LIKE MEN AND WOMEN. IF YOU DON'T YOU'RE STINKING COWARDS!

Subject: Elmer Gantry

Orwell had nothing on Sinclair Lewis' Elmer Gantry. Gantry was the all time religious huckster and "Bush**ter" of his day. Do you see any resemblance to today's political right-wing use of two of the oldest mass-controlling hypes of bulls**t and religiosity?

Subject: An Open Letter to Cnn

Dear CNN,

Congratulations on your recent obvious move to the right and to dumb down. In your attempt to compete with Fox News, you are successfully descending to the lowest common denominator and have succeeded in rendering what was once a reliable, credible news organization into purveyors of consistently pathetic, vulgar tabloid drivel. Please give us more shrill, neurotic windbags like Nancy Grace while allowing your few real journalists like Judy Woodruff (like her politics or not) to withdraw in utter embarrassment. It must be good for business. After all, not too many networks have attracted advertising from Halliburton. Keep up the good work.

... I met Richard Hayes Phillips, a geologist from New Hampshire who was invited to Ohio to study the integrity of the vote, and realized that a complete inventory of lost and miscounted votes was needed. To date, Phillips has analyzed 15 of Ohio's 88 counties, and by his most conservative estimate has found 101,000 uncounted Kerry votes - 136,000 is the margin by which Bush officially defeated Kerry. ...

Subject: The End of Days

Here is a unique perspective from the Middle East on the current situation. It takes a frank look at 'Islamic Fundamentalism.' Written by a Muslim, it is an honest admission of who is primarily responsible for the bashing Islam is getting internationally and whether the West has ulterior motives when using the term. Worth any body's time.
