Subject: Shirley Smith's Letter
Great letter, Shirley on the Democrats
like Hillary who want to become Republican Light. I received a questionnaire
from "Friends Of Hillary" which I immediately filled out.
I told her they will get my donation when I see some spine, i.e. Barbara
Boxer, Ted Kennedy and Harry Reid are displaying. That does NOT include
Hillary. I asked why they think going to middle of the road will work
when it has failed so many times? We make fun of Bush for continuing
to tell us 2 plus 2 equals 5 and then we beat our heads against the
wall yet again. How about not worrying about whether we should be
left or center? Wouldn't it be a refreshing change to be true to the
ideals of the Democratic Party? Surely they are in written in the
Subject: More Schiavo
I live a few miles from where Terri Schiavo is housed in a Hospice
facility, and I've watched this play out for years without such national
publicity. It's appalling to see so much money being spent to keep
this body alive by artificial means when there are starving people
who could be saved ... how much does it cost Bush to fire up Air Force
One for such a grandstanding play to pander to his "right to
life" constituency? He didn't mind signing this law!

Subject: Social Security Trust Fund
Bush and his cronies say that the Social Security Trust Fund is nothing
but a few pieces of paper. Those pieces of paper are US Treasury Bonds.
If the repuglicans are planning on not honoring these bonds come 2018,
Social Security shortfalls will be the least of our problems. The
US currently depends on foreign investors buying 2.1 billion in Treasury
Bonds a day to keep the country financially afloat. How many you think
they will keep buying if they believe the US government is going to
default on them?
This talk is dangerous to the economic health of the whole country.
Oh and by the way, I'm no math genius, but supposedly the social security
problems are the result of the baby boomer generation retiring. Now
according to the Congressional Budget office Social Security will
have enough money until 2052. In that year the baby boomers would
be between 107 and 89 years old. In real life that means that most
of them will be, well, dead. Can somebody explain this to me?

Subject: Terri Schiavo Is About Bushpower
Don't kid yourself - this is about BushPower! Jeb got himself overruled
in Florida and the feds are going to weigh in to say that no one -
NO ONE - is going to overrule Jeb, because he's related to the Kingpin.
After all folks, he's the one that got us into this jam to begin
with in '00. We know suthun style thug government. DeLay can talk
about a "culture of life" until he's blue in the face. The
real point is, these people are cutting safety nets that have the
same effect as lining people up and shooting them.
The latest, for example, is that the elderly choose group homes because
they are "homier" - and that there are plenty of "individual
health care plans" out there to buy - with $5,000 deductibles.
It's all illusory. If you are old, infirm, or disabled you'll probably
be soon dying a "natural death" (That was another one. If
you have Medicare, they will soon no longer pay for procedures such
as bypasses, and after all, congestive heart failure is a "natural"
conation of death - if you have no money) or fading away. Unless you
are Terri Schiavo. Who has Jeb.

Subject: Arlington Midwest
Thanks for the Toledo Blade piece about Arlington Midwest, the memorial
to the Iraq war dead. I thought you might be interested to know that
there's another memorial very like it, right here in red-state Kansas.
If you're ever in Topeka, drive by St. David's Episcopal Church; they've
been putting crosses in their yard - one for each soldier killed,
complete with names - since W started this war. Needless to say, they're
running out of space.
Subject: You got that right ...
Won't Issue Decision on Schiavo Yet. If He Rules with the State Judge,
the Busheviks Will Use Him as an Example of Why There Need to be More
Stepford Right Wing Incompetent Bushevik Hack Judges on the Bench.
On the other hand, most Americans think Bush, et al are wrong to interfere
... between that and Social Security and DeLay facing charges on allowing
lobbyists to pay for his trips - one might even think they are starting
to unravel. Even Ahnold is getting protests wherever he goes ... maybe
there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Subject: Several solutions to Schiavo case Repugs haven't considered
Several solutions the Repugnicans haven't considered for the Terri
1) Per their subpoena attempt, Repugnicans in the Justice Department
can have FBI agents raid Terri's room and whisk her away so she can
be placed in the "witness protection program." Of course,
she might have difficulty getting and holding down a job wherever
they relocate her.
2) The Repugnicans in Homeland Security can declare Terri an "enemy
combatant" or terrorism supporter and have her renditioned to
some top-secret foreign location to be held incognito indefinitely,
out of the reach of those pesky, rule-of-law state and federal judges.
3) Bush could appoint her to a top-level position in his administration.
Hey, who would notice another "brain-dead" Bush appointee
among the so many that are already there? Of course, the Senate confirmation
hearings would be a real hoot, because the questions and answers would
definitely be a wee bit one-sided.
Gee, just trying to be helpful. Do I have to do all the Repugnicans'
thinking for them, or what? Oh, I forgot, most of them are "brain
dead" automatons anyway who let people like Jerry Falwell, Pat
Robertson, James Dobson, Tom DeLay, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and
Karl Rove do their thinking for them already.

Subject: How To Explain The Word "hypocrisy"
As Sensenbrenner spoke about the sanctity of Terri Schiavo's life
(NPR) I reframed his words. What if he were speaking in 2003 about
bombing Iraqis to remove them from under the boot of our former CIA
employee, Saddam Hussein, or if he were speaking against bombing the
life out of a wedding party in Afghanistan in 2002? That would give
him some moral standing with this issue. Also, his sanctity of life
position is a little late, as Ms. Schiavo is dead.

Subject: Under-reporting of School Shooting In Minnesota
It is disconcerting that the mainstream news completely ignored the
tragic shooting at the high school in Minnesota on March 21. On a
day which saw an eerie repeat of the Columbine massacre, we were fed
a constant barrage of heroic news on how the Republican party and
the Busheviks intervened to save the life of that poor woman Schiavo.
And not a faint news report about the sick gun culture in the US and
the support of the NRA for the people in power! No calls to save the
innocent victims when they are threatened by guns!
Almost makes you think that the Busheviks are controlling the media!
