Subject: The world has gone mad!
I sometimes think that this world has gone mad......especially here in the U.S.! Congress was coerced into holding hearings to investigate 9-11. No hearings have been held concerning our invasion of Iraq and finding no WMDs. Where is the congressional hearing about the outing of Valerie Plame? Why weren't hearings held to question the voter irregularities for the elections of 2000 and 2004? But in all mock seriousness, they want to investigate steroids in baseball!! Give me a damn break!!! What the hell is wrong with Americans? I laughed when I saw the letter from the writer who stated that, "he knows that Dubya is ignorant, but he has balls." How crazy is that? With this type of mentality, we are in deep doo-doo. Hitler and his associates had nothing on Bush/Cheney and I believe that we are living in the midst of Nazi-Americana. We all need to watch our backs.

Great column! At the same time Bush is proposing (and the Senate increasing) tax cuts he is talking about defaulting on the Social Security-held Treasury Bonds when it becomes necessary to start to redeem them in 2018. There are numerous quotes available to support this, but here are just three::
Social Security just "spends the money" - no mention of the bonds it receives in return.
Couple this with the White House briefing on Social Security private accounts:
And reinforce this with another quote from Bush:
And what they are saying is that those Treasury Bonds being bought each year and that will continue to be bought each year until 2018 are a sham. We can not afford to redeem them, therefore we will default. Even Bush says that the payroll deductions for Social Security are our money. When he talks about private plans he says we will be "setting aside some of our own money."
So the money is being collected under false pretenses, they are committing a fraud and neither the media nor the Congress is calling them on this. All an individual born since 1950 needs to do is look at his Social Security- provided statement to see how much of his money they plan to steal and what benefits he stands to lose in whole or part.
Right now when a Japanese investor redeems a bond, the government can refinance that bond and there is no increase in the national debt (excluding interest considerations). That's not true of redeeming a SS held bond.
The SS bonds have been used to hide the true annual deficits and the true increase in the national debt. Therefore redemption is not a simple refinancing. It will also increase the national debt because it will now be counted. As well, it will increase the deficit for the year in which redeemed.
It must be recognized that this is not a problem with Social Security but a problem caused by massive deficits, tax cuts, war, and Enron accounting as it relates to the national debt and yearly deficits.
When Bush claimed his tax cuts were giving us back some of our money he failed to mention that it was really coming out of the Social Security savings of the American worker and that it would destroy the program for anyone born after 1950.

President Bush has been touring the country speaking to hand-picked
supportive crowds to give the news media plenty of opportunities
to propagandize [or should that be propa-Gannon-dize?] his non-existent
plan to privatize Social Security.
Subject: Bush: Divine Mandate Or Evil Incarnate?
One of my greatest concerns is that many Christians have been lead astray through overt propaganda and outright lies. George W. Bush claims to be a man of God. Some of his supporters even claim he is some sort of savior. He has even personally claimed to receive his directions from God. I realize a great many well meaning good Christians have fallen for this man and his administration as a direct result of their [this administration] claims of being pro-life and pro-family. Unfortunately he is neither.
Their intentions of eliminating a woman's right to choose what to do with her own body is merely about making sure there is plenty of unwanted pregnancies and children raised in poverty so there are enough recruits for their endless imperialistic wars. Sadly, they claim to be pro-fetus, but once a child has taken its first breath out of the womb they wish to abandon it. They have slashed and plan to slash completely all social programs that help poor women and children.
Certainly Bush was lying when he said he modeled his life after Jesus. After all, Jesus cared for the poor and the children. More importantly, they claim to be pro-life yet export death and destruction across the globe. Killing innocent women, children, men, and yes even pregnant women and calling it collateral damage. Not to mention their enforcement of the death penalty. Even in the case of minors, in the President's former state and the state his brother is now governor of. A right-leaning Supreme Court has just ruled that as "cruel and unusual" punishment, yet pro-death Republicans are still chanting the mantra, "If you are old enough to do the crime ..."
Pro-life should be just that: Pro-life. Even after the fetus has left the womb. And to include all fetuses, children, and life around the world. That would also require facing the fact that pollution and environmental destruction is responsible for de-facto abortions - i.e. miscarriages. You cannot be pro-family when everything you do destroys them. How many children in this country have lost a parent to the war in Iraq? How many parents have lost a child?
The antigay issue is just red meat hypocrisy for the Christian homophobes since many of the Republican right are closet homosexuals themselves. Just read up about the former White House reporter, Jeff Gannon of Talon News Service owned by GOP USA, who threw softball propaganda questions at them (some of which were antigay issues, all the while he was running a gay escort website), for just one example.
Furthermore if true Christians were to actually read the Bible and especially Revelations (actually read it themselves), they might have some real questions about who and what Bush really represents. He did INITIATE the war in Babylon (Iraq) and he is truly the leader of the world as the President of the only superpower left on the globe. Not only that, but the United States of America has become the New Roman Empire following a plan laid out by high-ranking members of the Administration who are also part of a fascistic think tank known as The Project for a New American Century, http://www.pnac.org/.
Even more odd - a real Christian would not wave the sign of the Devil at crowds regardless if it just also happens to be the sign of a college team - the Texas Longhorns. Especially considering he never attended college in Texas, but was instead a cheerleader at Yale. Waving the sign of the Devil might make sense at a Motley Crue concert. Not a presidential inaugural.
And let us not forget in his college years he became a lifelong member of a secret fraternity with Satanic motifs called Skull and Bones. He invokes the name of God at every opportunity.
But, it is not in what you say, it is what you do. The fascists in power have mastered the art of large-scale cult brainwashing. However, the teachings of the Bible, (especially Revelations), should have taught these wingnuts not to fall for this. And yet they have.
The perfect questions to ask any and all who refuse to acknowledge what is going on is - "If Jesus arrived tomorrow and asked George W. Bush and the neocons in his administration to become equal with all men, under God, and all men and women to share the abundance of the planet equally - Do you think he would kneel down before God and let the world live as one under divine governance? - Or would he go to war to keep the power, influence, and material wealth he now possesses?"
They know the answer, but they won't admit it. Bush and the neofascists would call Jesus a Liberal, pot smoking, Socialist-Terrorist who wants to destroy Freedom and Capitalism and they would destroy Heaven and Earth to stop him. Truly anyone, Christian, Atheist, Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, or whatever label their stereotype fits - knows darn good and well that the white men who control this world, especially the ones in this country, would rather reign in Hell than serve in Heaven. And ultimately those right- wing Christian wing nuts have to realize that the world leader that would wage war with God is THE antichrist.
Revelations 13:5 predicted the antichrist would get a second term - "and he was given power to continue forty and two months." (A U.S. Presidential term is forty and eight - unless God, Impeachment, or revolution cuts it short six months early.)
Furthermore, even with his limited ability to articulate the English language, Bush speaks of “great things” and “blasphemies.”
Religious mythology (most often Christianity), has been used, and quoted a lot lately to force agendas onto those of us who wish to live free from it. The irony is that very mythology (if quoted correctly), can come back and bite them on the ass. The progressive and moderate voices out there should not shy away from pointing out their hypocrisy and even their blasphemy. The wing nuts have no problem equating anyone who disagrees with them with Satan, evil, and sin.
The main public mouthpieces for the religious right are Dobson, Falwell, and Robertson. Since when did televangelists who preach that God talks to them, and apparently he is always asking for money and only votes Republican, become the spokesmen for Christianity?
It is about time we pointed out their so-called guide book (the
Bible), is being distorted for truly EVIL purposes they should fear.
That may sound crazy and extreme, but it is no more crazy or extreme
than believing Bush receives his orders from God and/or models his
life after the Prince of Peace - Jesus Christ.

Ha. Typical Bushian deceit - mislead by making two unrelated statements the public is likely to connect in a sympathetic way.
1. I have grandchildren and 2. will something be done with Social
Security - as if Barbara Bush doesn't know the Bushes are multibillionaires
who are likely to personally be enriched by privatizing Social Security,
as if any Bush kid would feel the slightest pinch, ever.
You guys are the best. Thank you for all you do.
Regarding the 2006 election: I think we should all pick a date to deluge our senators, congressmen/women with an avalanche of letters sent via U.S. Postal Service demanding that the 2006 and all future elections be uniform, paper ballots only, and anything less is simply unacceptable.
If they suddenly receive tons of mail, it would be very hard to ignore.
Would appreciate any views on this subject.
It's our election, our government, and we should be able to demand an honest election.

Subject: More Trouble Every Day
Back to Karen Hughes. To some extent it will not matter whether or not she can do damage control. But appointing her to this position is like giving dracula the keys to the local blood bank. She's about as subtle as a stick of dynamite. These "power dressing" females scare the shit out of me. As do most control freaks. And that is what it is all about. Control and Power.
Has anyone out there done a serious psychological study of this administration as being afflicted with a collective mental illness? I'm not a doctor, but I've been around long enough to know when an individual or group can be classified as being seriously fucked up. And speaking of which, is W. becoming just a wee bit (more than usual) disconcerted looking lately? I've seen that look on the face of other former users. That cocaine will do your brain in like a deep-fryer on high. Should've stuck to the weed cowboy.
As I have said in the past, good luck to any of you Americans who decide to stay within your nation to fight these injustices being perpetrated by the Bush Nazis. And I say it again, good luck. You're going to need it. I don't know how you fight against these types of pathological criminals. You can always leave, and take up the fight from elsewhere, because there is ample evidence that your right to dissent, and to foster an anti-Bush adm. view is being flushed down the sewer you so euphemistically call a PATRIOT ACT.
Each day that I read something more about these social ingrates, makes me extremely proud and glad to be here in the great white north. And to make my week a little sunnier, that jerk [Ambassador] Cellucci is finally leaving. His type of holier-than-thou, looking down his nose diplomacy didn't work here in Canada. I'm just a bit nervous as to whom Bush will next appoint as Ambassador. Whomever his choice, I look forward to re-routing e-mails to them as opposed to Cellucci. I am just thankful he chose Karen Hughes for something other than an appointment to Canada. Brrrrr, that idea really frightens me
Or maybe, he could send Mark McGwire, someone who chooses to be vague, and obtuse. He'd fit right in with the rest of the buggers. Gee, it would be a shame to see him lose his home run record. Yeah right. This is one of the problems that kids today have to deal with. An unreasonable level of excellence being perpetuated by athletes who in reality are freaks of nature. What kid can possibly live up to these standards?
Oh well, they'll have bigger drug problems to worry about when they get back from Iraq, Afghanistan, or wherever they end up shipped out to.
And another thing, what is the cover-up this time? Baseball and steroids. The Florida woman who they pulled the feeding tube on. The Michael Jackson circus. More anthrax spores. Gannongate. Every time one of these little issues pop-up, it is generally a cover for a wider or more relevant issue. What are they up to this time around?
Keep up the good work BuzzFlash. You are one of the relevant voices screaming out from the wilderness. And once again, I repeat, good luck bringing down the bastards.

Subject: chaos theory in action
There are no answers except in chaos theory which holds that even the most turbulent white water rapids will eventually smooth out into a measurable, defined flowing stream of water ... meanwhile we careen recklessly toward the rapids in a world gone mad ... being led on this journey by the guy who arrogantly sees himself as the only one able to navigate the currents ... oblivious to the fact that much of who he is and what he does is stirring up the waters.
We'll come through it folks, but what will it be like when the
chaos settles down? What kind of role will America play in that
world?? I hate to think about America A.B. (after bush). I won't
see it as a beacon to the world again in my time, I am afraid.

If only the right people in the Democratic Party had the power.
Because I really feel that these Conservatives are not doing the

Subject: CNN's outrageous opinion poll question
On Saturday, 3/19, 7:00 EST, CNN's on-line news opinion poll question is: "Two years on--is it time to end protests against the US-led invasion of Iraq?" Readers get to answer a simple "yes" or "no" When I checked 58% said "no" and 42% said "yes."
This question makes me wonder if CNN is serving official notice that it is no longer a credible news station. Perhaps no one at CNN has ever read the US Constitution. You asked your readers to call and email CNN because it has no coverage of today's massive global antiwar protests. Instead on 3/19, CNN has headline stories about Tom DeLay's sudden interest in Terri Schiavo, which conveniently diverts attention from his overlapping scandals.
Please ask your readers to complain about the CNN poll on antiwar protests. These stories are all related. No wonder Americans are so ill-informed, gullible, and dumb.
Subject: Embarrassing Republicans
Since 9-11 the Republican Party has not passed any significant law that has helped its citizens. It is as if they are out to destroy everything that I believed that our country stands for. I thought the Republican Party stood for conservatism. Name one thing that this Administration has done that is conservative. How is trying to interfere with someone dying with dignity being conservative? How is lying about going to war being conservative? How is supporting a President who says he will continue to use false and deceptive information disguised as news releases being conservative? How do you tell your people torture, rape, and murder are okay now? Have all of you forgotten things like truth, honor, justice, and the American way?
Just what kind of hold do these NeoCons have over the Republican Party to make you do the things you do? When does supporting the party line become too much? When will it be time to tell people like Frist and DeLay that there is no longer any place for them in our government? DeLay is nothing but a despicable liar. And Frist isn’t much better. I’d be embarrassed to be in the same room as them.
If I were a leader in the Republican Party, I don’t believe I could support this Social Security Scam, the Patriot Act, or Genocide in Iraq. I could never support a President who did his best to prevent an honest investigation of 9-11. I could never support a President who sat on his ass for OVER seven minutes while innocent Americans were dying in the WTC, and did nothing. I couldn’t support an Administration who outed a CIA agent and breached National Security. The list goes on and continues to grow.
Yes, if I was a leader in the Republican Party, I would be so embarrassed
that I would have to resign. I guess I have too much Honor and Integrity.
Any law which fails to protect the humble disgraces the names of
those who made it so.
Subject: Hillary for President??? Puh-leeze!!
Because of a sudden (and still mysterious) interruption of my Afternoon Buzz deliveries last week, I've just read Roger Easson's letter praising Hillary Clinton but doubting her electability. Personally, I hope she's NOT electable -- but it's the praise that I'm questioning here. I had a similar reaction to Kristof's NYT column about Hillary's being the only one to "get it." Get WHAT? Elected? Rich(er)? On yet another best-seller list?
I'm sorry, but I see her as just another spit-on-your-finger-and-see-which-way-the-wind-is blowing member of the DLC (aka Republican Lite). Just as other DLCers are counseling candidates/incumbents to "speak more openly" about their religious -- preferably Christian, of course -- beliefs (and Hillary has always been careful to be photographed coming and going from church on Sundays), she recently called for finding "middle ground" with the folks who lust for the repeal of Roe v. Wade. For all her reputed brilliance, Hillary is still, deep down, the brown-haired upper-middle-class midwestern girl in dark-rimmed glasses she was in college: academically gifted, highly ambitious, and dedicated to achieving her goals: prominence, power, and -- certainly not least -- MONEY. (Remember the "miraculous" beef future windfall? The Whitewater mess? Obviously, the Repukes made mountains out of molehills in their "investigations," but the point remains: there's more than a bit of unseemly greed at work here.)
Also, does anyone else in Buzzland remember the Clintons' commitment to a deadline on the health program overhaul? Yes, the idea of universal health coverage is applaudable (and also a big DUHH, since most first-world countries have had it for decades) -- but to set a date before evaluating the scope of the task is downright ... well, STUPID.
Don't get me wrong: I think she's doing a reasonably decent job as Senator from NY (where I was born and grew up) -- BUT I'm beginning to see a pattern of moving toward the center in preparation for a run for office. As MANY Buzz readers (including me) have pointed out, Republican Lite will accomplish only one thing: ensuring that the Repukes will retain power until progressive Democrats (a) wake up and shake up the system, or (b) become extinct.
I do agree with Roger, though, on at least one point: I, too, believe that Hillary is probably unelectable, and it would be a major mistake to field her as a candidate. There are other women (and men) out there without her baggage, her abrasiveness (which she's been working hard to suppress), and her ... well, greed ... for the limelight, more and more money, and power. (Note: This is NOT an anti-feminist message; I consider these traits equally negative in a man.)
If I could choose a woman to run for President in 2008, it would
be Barbara Boxer. Now there's REAL vision, guts, and grasp of reality.
Thanks for letting me vent.
P.S. Here's a little something in return.
