Subject: Approval Ratings Are A Sign
Of Election Fraud In 2004
This New York Times quote, as most mainstream media sources, presumes that Bush won solidly. This is not the only poll that shows a divide (discrepancy) between Bush and America. National Public Radio presented a newly-released poll that gives Democratic congressional candidates an early lead in the 2006 congressional campaign. The poll, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research 2/15-17, indicated that 42 percent of respondents would vote for the Democratic candidate and 36 percent would vote for the Republican candidate in their district, "if the election for Congress were held today."
We already know that a solid majority of Americans opposes the President's Social Security proposals. Congress has had to suggest delaying a move on this until next year, in order to develop support. Bush's approval on Iraq has also fallen (from 45 percent/50 percent to 40 percent/53 percent) even though the elections held there would be an effective tool to validate the occupation.
Most of us, who delve into several news sources, have some idea of the number of voting irregularities that were reported after the last election. Get Representative John Conyer's 102-page report "What Went Wrong in Ohio" for a succinct list. The Ohio recount was highly flawed. Steve Freeman and Josh Mittledorf have issued "A Corrupted Election" which is, so far, the definitive statistical analysis on why the November 2004 numbers just do not add up.
In fact John Kerry won. I suspect Karl Rove knows what went down, which is exactly why he will point repeatedly to the fraud as reality: Rove: "Next time one of your smarty-pants liberal friends says to you, 'Well, he didn't have a mandate,' you tell him this delicious fact: This president got a higher percentage of the vote than any Democrat candidate for president since 1964.''
Why are conservatives trying to kill the "Count Every Vote Act of 2005"? They have decided to attack the part of the proposed legislation that gives a vote to felons who have served their time. This attack comes from various conservative channels and shows the unforgiving, "stern father" streak that is overt part of the history of felony disenfranchisement (the covert part is suppression of minority voting).
These same stern fathers turn suddenly soft and understanding when they let George Bush off the hook for his youthful improprieties; he didn't serve any time and was awarded the highest office in our national government. But anyone else who has had the bad luck or the lack of influential friends to end up in jail - that person must be forever banned from voting?
It's time we stopped letting ourselves be manipulated. By election officials, by the media, by unconstitutional laws that steal our democracy. Begin today, by demanding that the vote be restored. Make sure that we "Count Every Vote."
Corrupted Election: Despite
what you may have heard, the exit polls
were right (In These Times)
Progressives should call attention at a press conference and announce their opposition. Americans will then see them as the party that stands up for poor working-class families who may be racked with hospital bills they can't ever pay but still deserve a fair shot at life without having them haunt them to their graves. Opposition will give voice to the small business owner whose employees are the heartland of America and who may fear they may have to shut-down, if they have not already done so. There are millions in America.
Blocking the bankruptcy bill's passage
is a win-win strategy for progressives.
And before Republicans cast their vote,
they should note they will be held accountable
by their constituents at election time.
Let them learn the hard way exactly
who has filed for protection during
the last five to ten years. I'll bet
there is a disproportionate number in
red-meat states and districts. In fact,
if you know a way for me to check, I
would love to do so. Let's face it,
Americans may hate to pay taxes but
even more, they hate to pay their bills.
Hmm...maybe that should be the next
ad campaign. Republicans as the party
of bill collectors.

Subject: Extremists: Iraq's Hidden War
"Iraq's Hidden War: Extremists have shot women activists in the streets and killed them in private. Other threats are more insidious--and may be growing..."
This is a very long article reporting the abuses Iraqi women have been suffering since the collapse of the Hussein administration. I'd love to hear Laura Bush promote the "freedoms Iraqi women now enjoy" in order to support this war. Women are being threatened, abused and murdered for the same "crimes" the Taliban proclaimed in Afghanistan. But now, there is "democracy" in Iraq and so I'm sure these women "had it coming," right?

Something struck me regarding the "terrorists within"
--- that horrible story about the judge's murdered husband and mother.
In this month's Vanity Fair there was a letter to the editor about
Timothy McVeigh. The authors, Michel and Herbeck, had 75 hours of
interviews with Tim McVeigh and wrote a book called "American
Terrorist" ---not only would no publisher touch it (except
Reganbooks), but once Reganbooks put it out it was promptly banned
at Wal-Mart and the military refused to sell it in PX stores, etc.

Subject: Stephen J. Ducat On "masculinity"
The word "masculinity" is in quotes above because what Ducat talks about with regard to our Esteemed Leadership is not real masculinity. Real men are not afraid, whereas our Honorable (wink, wink) Leaders are terrified. They're afraid of women, and scared witless by gays; I've thought that for a long time, so it was very pleasant indeed to read what Mr. Ducat has to say about it. One question, though: If being a Real Man means you're brutal and dominant, what do the Neo-Cons make of Jesus Christ? By their standards, he's a girlie-man for sure: "Real" men don't forgive others, or take care of the unfortunate, or treat the underclass as though they had human dignity. And by no means do they give themselves up for ANYBODY. Would Tom DeLay die on a cross to save somebody else's soul?
Thanks, Buzz! Keep it coming!
Subject: The Guys In The White Hats; The Guys In The Black Hats!
White Hat, our 39th President Jimmy Carter came into his own especially in the latter years of his life as a spokesman and a hands-on humanitarian, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. One of his greatest quotes was as Governor of Georgia when in his Inaugural Address he stated, “The test of Government is not how popular it is with the powerful and privileged few, but how honestly and fairly it deals with the many who must depend on it!”
That being true leads us to the top black hat! One stab that cannot be resisted is as George Bush pats himself on the back and takes credit for the spread of Democracy and yells at the Syrians to get out of Lebanon, his choice for Prime Minister, Allawi, according to a report mentioned once on MSNBC yesterday, disregards the choice of the Iraqi people and is trying to make a deal with Sunnis to displace their candidate and install himself as Prime Minister. He came in THIRD as the people’s choice! Who is talking about this story or is the story along with the Bush influence in this election being killed?
BLACK HAT, George W. Bush, who personifies the exact opposite of the Carter statement with his lies, his misrepresentations, his secrecy, his arrogance and his mishandling of the nation’s monies also leading us into a war based on falsehoods and causing loss of world respect, just to name a few. His list is so large it cannot be contained in one article.
White Hat Senator Barbara Boxer for her courage, her backbone, her exemplary service to her constituency and to the voters of our nation in her work towards major election reform!
Richard Clarke for his expertise and truthfulness that has withstood the White house verbal cannon shots! Lately his 9/11 information was vindicated in a recent report while Rice’s testimony was shot full of holes! Keep writing Richard!
Black Hat, Condoleezza Rice who impugned her own integrity by exposed lies and misrepresentations and as No #1 “Yes” person to her husb- Mr. Bush! Her refusal to answer vital questions, to sidestep the truth was especially notable at her confirmation hearing, proving talking a good game is not the same as playing a good game like ignoring important pre-war information!
Changing hats Joe Lieberman, White to Black Hat? Just which side of the aisle do you represent and what exactly did you “seal with a kiss” with Bush?
White Hat and master of the Constitution of the United States, Senator Robert C. Byrd, for his outspoken heartfelt fight to protect our rights and hold Congress to the letter of the law of our Constitution. The White House must get up in the morning and wonder which of its agencies’ information will be exposed next as White Hat California Representative Henry Waxman questions their veracity and from Halliburton on, he must cause heart palpitations to any trying to cover-up or misrepresent truth in government. He largely still remains an unsung hero!
Despite the general media collaboration with the Bush Administration there are still some shining examples of truth in journalism as we listen to the acerbic wit and truthful reporting of Keith Olbermann and his popular “Countdown” news program on MSNBC!
Other examples of strong viewpoints, calling it as they see it, are Paul Krugman, especially on Social Security issues, and Bob Herbert on exposing the Administration stance on torture. All of their articles are informative and clear cut!
Molly Ivins and Maureen Dowd get their political jabs at the Bush Administration incongruities with wit and humor! In fact, if one reads the book “Shrub” and other articles by Ivins showing Bush actions while he was Governor of Texas, you see a distinguishable repetitive pattern in how he handles our government today!
Robert Scheer’s in their face articles are always noteworthy! These
are just a few of many, and while perceptions might differ with
each person as to the value of their viewpoints, the one thing that
these people exemplify is their using their God-given right to express
their opinion in face of criticism, they tell their truth. As Marya
Mannes once said, "The ultimate cynicism is to suspend judgment
so you are not judged!"
Subject: Curing The "femiphobia" Plague
Half a century has passed since Freud, Jung and Reich and others became alarmed over clinical and historical evidence that human behavior is regularly disturbed, and humanity in general "dis-eased," by seemingly alien desires and fantasies, attributed to "the unconscious" (a realm kept dark and impenetrable by ignorance) whereby, as if plagued by an invisible immune suppressant virus, the victim (humanity) attacks and irrationally attempts to destroy itself, as in war. In retrospect, we see that their warnings, which should have triggered an immediate, much more aggressive and thorough response, were barely heard, not only because they were repressed by that era's "morality police," but also because they were issued to a world unready to receive them. Modern political and technological tools and savvy--specifically, multi-media televised and webbed pop culture, trained activists and professional PR staff--were not yet in place to deliver enlightenment to the masses.
We've come a long way since those erudite explorers of the human
mind, seeing that obsessions of a sexual nature were paralyzing
and killing people, tolled the first plague bells. At that time,
average citizens were unfamiliar and, so, uncomfortable with the
benefits of psychological insight. Today, even in remote parts of
the world, people (not all but some) are much more sophisticated,
blasé and accustomed to a rich, media-enhanced view of the
world. So, we need not assume that because understanding of phobias
and other motivations didn't catch on with the first shot, rendering
us immune to deadly ideological viruses, it never can! I think it's
time for all of us who know to teach, or develop enlightenment about,
the seamy side of politics as if that awareness were the antidote
to the world's deadliest disease.
P.S.: Notably, even as the debate raged in academic circles over the value of Freud's great revelation--that people act out libidinous fantasies and tend to do "back" to others whatever was done to them as children--Dr. Benjamin Spock, focused on preventive hygiene, quietly advised the hands that rocked the cradles to listen, to treat children with respect, as if they had rights, and to spare the rod (a radical suggestion in 1940's America) in order to avoid future mental illness.
Subject: Make The Bastards Pay
It's time to make them suffer. Once your Senators and Congressmen
have made their feelings on the matter known (if they have not already
done so), please contact your Democratic state party and ask them
to start a recall. Even if it doesn't succeed, if these people have
to fight off a recall attempt, they won't be able to do much else,
and that will dominate the local media, depriving them of the ability
to propagandize on Social Security. Such an effort would get a lot
of support from retirees; it may even be possible to get AARP to
back these efforts. Make the bastards pay.

By the way, thanks for giving Danny Schechter the podium...he was a staple of life in the '60's and '70's in Boston, and once we moved out west, I lost track of him. print, the McMedia is fitting? CNN, MSNBC, FOX (Faux), ABC, CBS
frankly every source of mainstream, the Times, WaPo, Wtimes, Newsmax,

Subject: Another New Meme For The "media?"
By the way, I often call the fat cats and power players ELITISHES.
I mean, the term "elite" means "selected," supposedly,
which tends to be the precise opposite of their true condition.
So, they're elitishes. The honorific, "polite" form "elite,"
used as either adjective or noun, sounds so neat and nifty, whereas
elitish sounds cheap and crafty. Which is just how it should sound.

Bush needs to be defined and punished, instead of Bush defining America and ruling Americans and leading us over the cliff. Bush needs to take responsibility for his acts of treason towards this Country. Actually, cancer is on a long list of things that Bush will not act upon . . . as I have said before, we need to take the wealthy Republicans off government welfare and use taxpayers' money towards benefits for those who live in this Country. So, who is Bush? A Scaramouch, liar and a thief packaged in fake religious flapdoodle.
Subject: You, Yeah, I'm Talking To You!
Red State or blue state, majority or minority, you deserve to be represented. If you feel it’s not happening, its time to make your opinion known en masse! Write, blog, phone your Representative, and hit the media like they have never been hit before in letters, phone calls and the Internet.
“IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN DONE THAT WAY IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE EXCUSE!!”
If your viewpoint is not represented get rid of those Congressmen not representing you in the next election. Too many polls are NOT true accounts of how we feel, and there is too much BUSH-BENDING of the facts by the media in general going on in front of our noses!
You say you admire the Ukraine, Lebanon, and the Iraqis for their courage. Are we, who supposedly live in the land of the free not as courageous? Let’s hear all the Bush talk of freedom happen RIGHT HERE in our own country, and our own elections! DO AS WE SAY BUT NOT AS WE DO IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
Again I make this point of the Bush Choice for Prime Minister of Iraq, Allawi is making deals with Sunnis or whoever will support him to OVERRIDE the people’s choice and the people’s vote in his quest for the job. IS THAT FREEDOM WORKING? Have 1500 hundred Americans sacrificed their lives and 11000 soldiers injured in vain, along with hundreds of thousand innocent Iraqi lives lost for that kind of Democracy?
You, Yeah, I’m talking to you, let’s all be for advancing Democracy,
let the people’s voices be heard loud and clear right here in the

At long last, can't we at least strip away the fantasy that this is some "independent group" out there launching these attacks? Strip away the veil, strip away the curtain, and the chubby little magician with the pointy cap that you'll find sitting behind it is none other than Karl Rove.
For some reason, John Kerry didn't want to pursue this, although John Edwards sort of alluded to it. Perhaps this lawsuit by the two gay males in Portland will at least provide the litigants with the benefits derived from subpoenas and pre-trial discovery to get behind that curtain and find out the truth. Perhaps Mr. Rove can be subpoenaed for a deposition. Let him deny under oath what he knows about this USA Next group.

Our only hope is that the moderate Republicans will come to their

Subject: Social Security
If so, wouldn't it make sense to exclude SS benefits from taxable
income, thus reducing the burden on the lower class (would not need
to reduce benefits because we no longer tax that income and money
goes further) who heavily relies on SS as the only or substantial
portion of retirement money. In turn, income taxes on the wealthy
would be raised to account for the shortfall in income taxes from
SS income (as it should be). Just thoughts...

Subject: Religion And Politics
In recent years, the separation has been eroding due to the pressure of interested religious persons and groups. Did you know:
IN GOD WE TRUST… --The words “In God We Trust” did not appear on our money until 1864. --“In God We Trust” did not become the United States motto until 1956.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE… --The Pledge of Allegiance was written by a Baptist Minister and Christian Socialist, Francis Bellamy, in 1892. Bellamy was pressured to leave his church in Boston because of his socialist sermons. In his retirement in Florida, he stopped attending church because he disliked the racial bigotry he found there. --The original pledge was as follows: “I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” -- It was not until 1942 that Congress officially recognized the pledge of allegiance. --It was not until 1954, after a campaign waged by the Knights of Columbus that “God” was wedged between “one nation” and “indivisible.” Bellamy’s daughter said he would have objected.
MOSES AND TEN COMMANDMENTS IN SUPREME COURT BUILDING… -- Construction on the Supreme Court Building did not commence until 1932. -- Although Moses is depicted in the architecture of the Supreme Court Building, he is depicted among other historic lawgivers. For example, Justice the Guardian of Liberty, is a sculpture by artist Herman MacNeil, depicts Moses as one of a trio of three Eastern law givers (Confucius, Solon, and Moses). The trio is surrounded by a variety of allegorical figures representing legal themes. In the South Courtroom Frieze, artist Adolph Weinman depicts a procession of 18 important lawgivers: Menes, Hammurabi, Moses, Solomon, Lycurgus, Solon, Draco, Confucius, Augustus, Justinian, Mohammed, Charlemagne, King John, St. Louis, Hugo Grotius, William Blackstone, John Marshall, and Napoleon. Moses is holding blank tablets. The Moses figure is no larger or more important than any other lawgiver. (Imagine, Moses and Mohammad are depicted together. Jesus is notably absent from this grouping). --Although there are depictions of blank tablets and numbered tablets, the text of the Ten Commandments are not carved into the architecture of the building. -- There is a depiction of the Koran on the South Courtroom Frieze, in the possession of Mohammed.
CONGRESSIONAL CHAPLAINS… --For a period between 1857 and 1859, Congress suspended its practice of appointing congressional chaplains. This was due to several citizens’ complaints regarding the separation of church and state, and criticism that the appointments were political. The practice continued when it became difficult to find clergy who would voluntarily serve in this capacity. (i.e. for no money)
THE FOUNDING FATHERS
George Washington: "It is now no more that toleration is spoken of, as if it was by the indulgence of one class of people, that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights. For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens, in giving it on all occasions their effectual support." (George Washington's letter to Touro Synagogue)
Thomas Jefferson: "The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." -- Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, 1781-82
"Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one-half the world fools and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth." -- Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, 1781-82
John Adams: "When philosophic reason is clear and certain by intuition or necessary induction, no subsequent revelation supported by prophecies or miracles can supersede it." -- John Adams, from Rufus K. Noyes, Views of Religion, quoted from James A. Haught, ed., 2000 Years of Disbelief
Benjamin Franklin: "When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one." -- Benjamin Franklin, letter to Richard Price, October 9, 1780, quoted from Adrienne Koch, ed., The American Enlightenment: The Shaping of the American Experiment and a Free Society, New York: George Braziller, 1965, p. 93.
James Madison: “Every new & successful example of a perfect separation between ecclesiastical and civil matters is of importance.” -- James Madison, letter to Edward Livingston, July 10, 1822
