Subject: Bernard Goldberg and BIAS
We are having more and more "fake or UNreported
news" spewing out of Washington DC and from
the "news" media corpSE every day. I was wondering
if Bernard Goldberg, who wrote that scathing
book against CBS titled BIAS, has written
a new book about FOX and the other "news"
networks? I wonder if it would be "Biased"
in its content? Perhaps Bernie should title
any new book he may write as "Conservative
Propaganda" or "Republican Pravda."
Subject: Targeting Correspondents
Is it reasonably possible to surmise that
correspondents have been more likely targeted
BECAUSE they wrote something truthful rather
than to prevent them from writing the truth?
or were observed witnessing actions that "our
heroes" would prefer not be reported?
Subject: Suggestion for posting "Gannon" stories
"Jeff Gannon" should be in quotation marks, as should "reporter." Point out the fraud in a simple way!

From the view of someone who listens daily to the slander and outright lies coming out of the mouths on the radio like, Insanity and Limblaaaaugh, Dean, will do the country well with his demeanor and his intellect. Spouting off at the Bush Regime is what the Bush Regime needs. They need to be called what they are on a daily basis. They need to be put on the defensive side of the ball. They need to be called the liars and thieves they are daily. The major media will take a big big notice of it, but, it will need to be continued daily. They will grab the headline-making material. Let the power-happy money freaks continue to claim the moral high ground even when they want to cut everything they can out of the American system of social programs. Let them keep getting up on that pulpit on the hill saying its good to kill programs that help those in need. Let them stand in line with their leader of phony faith in the Christed one. It is coming out now that they are phony and it is coming out now that they love money more than anything that breathes to live as a decent human being.
Howard Dean will instill the guts and the backbone to those on
the hill that are afraid to speak out, they all need to have a
shot of courage so we the people will have elected servants doing
their job for the people. Courage to stand up to the bullies is
our way to get back the America of the free and the America of
the, we, will help our citizens in time of need. Gutless wonders
in thousand dollar suits with million dollar bank accounts will
really start to feel the conviction in their souls that says its
wrong to demoralize for the sake of money and power. It will do
them nothing to hate and spew that hate where it is not needed
in America. Defensive and on the run is where they need to be
when they act so almighty. Phony is as phony does and it is coming
out of their closets whether they like it or not. Honest to the

I don't know you personally, but I feel a kindred spirit with you. I am no longer a young person and I sense that you are not either. The days and years of Idealism and the energy to take it to the streets may have passed us by...maybe not...I'm not sure...but I do know that what you are doing in your commentaries on BuzzFlash is teaching by philosophical example a new generation of young, computer savvy patriots the why of what we must stand up against in this battle for our very existence. You are indeed a great motivator and I admire you. Maybe it's not too late for us older (?) citizens to play a vital part in saving the true America. I join you in the noble endeavor.

Subject: Re: Budget programs facing cuts, elimination
To those who are already convinced: Please read this article, it says what so many of us who are not Americans want to say. We do see the United States' administration and its adherents as Empirists, NeoColonialists and everything else that scares the bejeesus (to use an old term) out of us.
But then think of all the previous empires and how they ended up. Please, YOU are the only ones who have the ability and power to truly end this madness that encroaches on the rest of the world. We are all part of this world and believe me, I am not ready to die because of some mad vision of a small group of madmen who have one heck of a lot of power. I am, however, willing to do so if it means stopping the madness.
I believe in the real people of the world. We who are not rich and powerful in the corporate sense are rich in our sense of justice and equality.

Subject: JAG Officers Objected to Torture, Pentagon Ignored Them
One of the first civics lessons we learn in school is that we
are a nation of laws, not men. If that were true in the United
States today, Donald Rumsfeld would be an unindicted criminal,
and George W. Bush might be, also. One of the characteristics
of a banana republic is that leaders are above the law, provided
they control the military and the soldiers stay loyal. Can anyone
say, "Haiti" or "Indonesia?" Question... If we're a nation of
laws, and JAG officers (lawyers) have legal objections to torture,
to whom may they take their complaints after the Pentagon has
ignored them? May they go directly to the Federal court system?
Would doing so constitute insubordination, and if so, could that
finding also be challenged in civil court? Civilian lawyers, please
weigh in here.
Subject: A New Kind Of Death Tax
After securing the family fortunes for hundreds of millionaires by eliminating the inheritance tax, Mr. Bush now plans to resurrect it as a "privatization tax" on everyone else. It is a variation on an old con I learned as a child called "I'll give you a shiny new penny for that dirty old quarter." I fell for it once (maybe twice) before I learned I was being screwed.
Will Americans realize they are being screwed before it is too late? Mr. Bush is counting on the greed and ignorance of our children to pull this off. He is promising them a new penny for an old quarter. Once the old quarter is gone it is gone forever. Their generation will then be worked until their deaths because there is no way for them to retire and survive on the pittance that is left.
There is an old adage in Las Vegas--the house always wins. In the class war that Bush has declared against Social Security and the middle class he is stacking the deck to assure the house (of Bush) never loses and we never win. Bush knows it is less conspicuous to steal one dollar from millions of people than it is to steal millions of dollars from one person, so he is going to do it. He is counting on our ignorance of the value of a dollar! This plan to decimate our Social Security benefits has one purpose and one purpose only; it is a plan to choke off the transfer of wealth from one generation to the next for everyone he considers lower class. If you don't have millions in the bank, he considers you low class and ripe for this rip off. If Bush's plan for privatization of Social Security passes, that giant sucking sound you hear will be that of your accumulated property being sucked up by the wheelers and dealers on Wall Street.
If you live to retirement age, Bush's plan will so drastically reduce your benefits that you will be forced to mortgage or slowly liquidate any private property you have accumulated just to be able to survive. Some will even be forced to move in with their children, forcing the children to spend down their meager savings. I guess their greed and ignorance will not go unrewarded.
If you do not survive to retirement this privatized account will disappear down a black hole, Bush has indicated as much. His plan shows that if you do not make enough money to qualify for the type of account intended for his wealthy buddies, you will be forced into a system where the account is confiscated upon your death. It will not even be passed to a surviving spouse!
This is the new death tax. The result is your spouse and children will receive nothing but the high medical bills left in your passing. First we will get privat-ized, then we get pirate-ized. In the final analysis, when you are no longer of any use to those who surround and prop Bush up, you are nothing--you are navel lint. Unless you are a "good worker bee," you are only worth the few dollars in water and trace elements your body represents. When you are old and there is nothing left of you for them to exploit, you are disposable and the sooner you are disposed of, the better.
This is their vision of your retirement and Social Security benefits. Welcome to George Bush's New America where even you can have a role in the movie Soylent Green! How's your appetite?

Subject: Congress offers scarier twist than on '24'
At issue was a 45-day deadline in the House for action on ethics complaints. With passage of the bill, that deadline was eliminated -- basically crippling the ethics process. Quite a pat on the back for the bill's sponsor who, whaddya know, was in the ethics spotlight.
Since H. Res. 5's passage, conspiracy theorists are having a
field day imagining what 24-like scenarios could take place thanks
to the somewhat overlooked Section 2 of DeLay's bill. The Constitution
states each house of Congress requires a quorum to do business.
In the House of Representatives, that number is 218. After Sept.
11, with the specter of terrorism hanging over the country, lawmakers
felt added protection was necessary in the case of a catastrophe.
H. Res. 5's new doomsday provision in Section 2 states that if
the "inability of the House to establish a quorum is attributable
to catastrophic circumstances involving natural disaster, attack,
contagion, or similar calamity rendering representatives incapable
of attending the proceedings of the House," then no longer
would a quorum of 218 be necessary. Instead, when a call of the
House for 72 hours after the event does not produce a quorum;
or the speaker, the majority and minority leaders receive from
the sergeant-at-arms (or designee) a report stating that circumstances
of the catastrophic event would prevent the representatives from
showing up; or a last ditch 24-hour call does not draw a quorum,
then the number of representatives "responding to that call
of the House" shall be in charge.
Subject: jeff gannon
The Jeff Gannon story is the biggest news to surface to date. Don't let it die. It had a short news cycle last week and got some national play on cnn and msnbc but now is not the time to let it die. The white house had something if not everything to do with this. This is an excellent example of how the admin controls press conferences and stacks the media with shills. Then when they are caught red handed, aaron brown (no caps for a tiny little man) calls, "so what"? Enter, the concept of blogs taking over the job of investigative journalism.
This is huge! Don't let it die. Instead, encourage all your readers to contact their cable companies and have cnn removed from their service. Organize rallies around the country to burn cnn paraphernalia. Bang the drum the way righties did to the dixie chicks. Do something! Here is your opportunity to paint the mainstream media the color of truth.

Subject: My letter to All Things Considered/NPR
OPEN LETTER TO SENATOR CHARLES GRASSLEY, (R-IA):
Your appearance of February 13th on Meet the Press was absolutely shameful. It is not necessary to detail at length the many errors of fact or omission. I am confident you could, if honest, do a much better job of that than I. But it is an undeniable fact that you grossly misrepresented the viability of the Social Security program, you proffered rank disinformation as to its solvency and proposed modifications, and you displayed unambiguous partisanship over your sworn duty to loyally serve and protect your constituents. Where is your empathy for the people who elected you? They deserve so much better.
Let me make myself perfectly clear. What you espoused as a permanent "fix" on Meet the Press, in press conferences and in interviews is anything but a fix. In fact, there is no such thing as a permanent fix, not to Social Security or to any other government program. For an elected official to engage in such willful and wanton deception SHOULD BE A CRIME! The whole scheme rises to the level of Enron-style accounting and is just as fraudulent. Clearly, if you were touting such a "deal" in the corporate world the Federal Trade Commission would prosecute you for false advertising. That's a fact.
There's simply too much information available, on the record, that the Republicans have been working diligently since the inception of Social Security to dismantle it -- CATO reports, Heritage Foundation reports, books written, speeches given -- to think otherwise. That's precisely what the president envisions: You know it and I know it. You cannot possibly or truthfully deny it. The Republican philosophy is, if we can convince the public that it owns its Social Security accounts, then they will consider themselves part of the investor class and are more likely to vote Republican. Karl Rove's push to make the Republicans the power brokers for the foreseeable future has been duly reported in any number of newspaper and magazine articles. Evidently, the GOP thinks Democrats and Independents are too stupid or ignorant to read. What really galls me is that you people are so confident that you will brag about your aspirations as if we cannot add two and two. How utterly condescending.
You could not, could you, be so foolish as to put your reputation on the line as you've done without some personal remuneration of some kind. So I have to ask the $64,000 question: What do you get, personally, out of dismantling the Social Security system? That you would conduct yourself in such an unconscionable, unethical and egregious manner says a great deal about your lack of integrity, sense of honor -- you name it. So my question is, what's in this for you? What precisely is the payoff you expect? You obviously favor your own self-interest over that of your constituents, so it's a fair question, and I would like an answer.
You and your fellow "reformers" do not fool us, the American public. We are outraged that you choose such transparent language to sell us a bill of goods. The Great Kreskin you are not. You and your fellow "reformers" display a maddening lack of respect for the intelligence of the voting public.
Furthermore, it does not escape my attention that this shell game is played against us the most vehemently by the grandstanding, chest-beating, self-avowed Christians serving in D.C. You tell me, Senator, what Christian values are at work in bilking retirees out of their rightful pensions after they paid into the SS system over their working lives just so the richest among us can retain their tax cuts? Is that what Jesus would do? Are there true examples of Christian values at work on this scheme? What hypocrisy!
I will be writing a great number of letters to the editor to newspapers throughout the state about your outrageous conduct with the expectation that the good people of Iowa will vote you out of office at the soonest opportunity!

All these scare tactics again in the name of Social Security reform. If SS program is in such a problem, then why didn't bush use the money (those trillions of dollars) he gave to the rich in the form of a tax break to shore up the SS program?
It's funny in a sick way to see that the only country of the axis of evil that didn't have WMDs, we attacked. How we have to have judicial reform but not Rx reform. How important the dept. of homeland security is, but local law enforcement will feel the cuts in bush budget and the borders are left open.
And it goes on and on, our congress has to be held accountable in 2006 for their actions they take now, and they have to be told that we are watching. I do as often as possible.

Subject: The War On Terror
The War On Terrorism While Bush is urging Congress to renew The Patriot Act by saying "We must not allow the passage of time or the illusion of safety to weaken our resolve in this new war" on terrorism, it would seem timely to review just what IS this “new war” on terrorism.
It has been 3 ½ years since 9/11 and there has not been a single terrorist incident in this country since then. The Bushites would like to attribute this period of calm to the Administration’s efforts in thwarting any potential attacks. The creation of Homeland Security has certainly played a part, although it is still an unwieldy bureaucracy, and an increased vigilance on the part of the citizenry has helped to be sure, but what if this so-called war on terrorism is really a “cover” for the neoconservative designs for this country?
Consider that it is costing taxpayers billions of dollars just to operate a Homeland Security department with 180,000 employees, and already the Iraqi war (“The Central Front On Terrorism,” as Bush calls it) is now nearly two years in the making and costing us over a billion dollars a week, in addition to all the human sacrifice. The nearly 3000 lives that were lost in the WTC tragedy was a terrible thing to be sure, and there is no attempt here to minimize that. But 3 ½ years after that event, I believe it is time to evaluate and define what Bush calls the war on terrorism.
Suppose the threat of al Qaeda is not as large as we are told? Suppose we withdrew our forces from Saudi Arabia and Iraq and did not have a presence in the middle east. Would we still be a target for terrorism? If so, would the threat be as grave?
Bin Laden has already said that the attack on the World Trade Center was in retaliation for our presence on Arab soil and our collusion with Israel. Suppose this so-called war on terrorism is really a scare-mongering ploy to advance the neoconservative cause to secure the oil reserves in the mid-east?
Is the “war on terrorism” part of a government by fear tactic? Just suppose.

Subject: Bush Budget Cuts
No one has addressed the fact that the draconian budget cuts are to ensure there will be a Republican Congress in two years? These cuts are to make the right wing candidate a hero when she/he "fights" to defeat them. He/she will be successful because the cuts are a sham. They have to be a con job because they are so outrageous.
