Subject: Elections

Hey Buzz,

Here's my question about Iraq--how's the election campaign going? I don't see any stump speeches on our news. Who are the candidates? What are the issues? Platforms? Political parties? Poll numbers?

Re: our election. It was a fraud. Please continue to keep us informed. Looks like many demonstrations this weekend.

Thanks,

DL

Subject: The Dick Times: A Right Rum Job

Buck stops short of Rummy as he dumbs up in troop inquiry! He’s looking small in town hall group when challenged by GIs!

He asks these guys to stand up, take it like a man; it’s what your president would want, the implication runs, while Bush is basking in the sun of Red Mob love, high above the junkyard armor fray.

He wears a sharp new soldier coat, kind of like the one Ike wore, but sans five stars. Dick sez: and sans his risking sorry ass in shooting wars.

And! The Diquiz! Thirty years from now, will counter-culture kids be combing through the resale shops looking for "one of those way cool commander-in-chief jackets just like, uh, you, like, know, like, uh that Clinton, like, wore"?

A BuzzFlash Reader

George Bush says if he were a soldier in iraq he would want to ask the secretary of defense the same question.

hellooooo :):) Bush YOU are the president, you are the commander in chief! why aren't YOU asking that question?!

Subject: How to be a Loser and Win . . .

BuzzFlash,

Peat, repeat, . . . Florida 2000, probably happened in more states than people realize. Bush never has to worry about being caught for cheating or even lying. The GOP are very brazen about their dishonesty. Even the Democrats in Congress are in denial about the obvious problems in Ohio and other states and whether we had a fair election or not. I can understand why people feel downtrodden, when we have leaders in the Democratic Party who constantly stick their noses up in the air to smell which direction the GOP wind is blowing before they decide to act.

People have lowered their standards and expectations for the Bush administration and for the US government period. So low, that for the US to climb back up to what our morality and standard of government should be . . . would be the equivalent of climbing Mt. Everest without any equipment.

Americans are the losers because we have a Bush administration that doesn't give a whip about the integrity of the votes that gave them their privileges in the White House. If citizens of America consider Bush an illegal president for 2000 and 2004, it doesn't bother Bush and he probably sleeps quite well. He will take the presidency any which way he can. This comes as no surprise to me. I have often pictured Bush being dragged out of the White House, hanging on to the pillars with all of his strength and then handcuffing himself to those pillars in order to try and win in a tug of war when told he lost the election. Now, we have nothing to look forward to except more moronic talk, more death, more debt, more draft, more poor, more secrets, more taxes and more war. And, just four years ago, none of the above existed. That is leadership? No, that is the legacy of a loser.

And, we have a Congress that is unwilling to fight for the one snip of power of the people that could keep a politician honest, if he wanted to keep his job. From now on, the next phrase of propaganda will be Bush preaching about his so-called "mandate." Further establishing in my mind that Hell is really here on earth. The horrors of the deaths of 911 are shrinking daily in comparison to the horrors and death caused by the Bush administration.

Not one question or answer . . . just ignore the obvious is the program followed by the Bush administration . . . listen to no one, never say you're sorry and do whatever the hell you want to do. That is the real morality in this moment of time. No credibility, no integrity, no real leadership (anywhere) and definitely, no morality. What does any of this say about the Right Wing religious movement? A whole hellava lot.

Only losers . . . the Bush lowering of the standards for America and those Americans who voted to accept this, makes all of us losers. That is the only way Bush could ever lead would be to cut us all down to his level.

Instead of an open door to the world as a leader in democracy, we have seen that door slammed shut, and we, American citizens, have become the doormat to a brutal war mongering Bush administration that views the life or the death of others as unimportant in their quest for money and power.

Subject: Talking Heads

I have reached the point of political punditry saturation. On and on and on the talking heads answer all of society's dilemmas with such profound "wisdom" that I, for one, can't decide who to follow or who to degrade. Mixed in with comic pictures of Bush in his Beatles "Hard Day's Night" jacket and Rumsfeld nervously trying to think fast before the whole battalion pounces on him, I come to the conclusion that Television "NEWS" is as destructive to the psyche of the average viewer as daily torture is to enemy combatants. And there is no remedy in sight...I believe we are on the highway to irrelevance in this world and our Media is leading us under the direction of the Bush Cartel. History is writing itself a new chapter in the story of failed nation states. And it ain't even Christmas yet.

Subject: Bumper Sticker

Dear BuzzFlash,

I was following a car yesterday and they had a bumper sticker that said, "Support President Bush And Our Troops."

I think it should have said, "Support President Bush Or Our Troops."

Subject: Rumsfeld's remarks about protection

Dear BuzzFlash Readers:

Too bad someone didn't stand up and ask Mr. Rumsfeld how protected his vehicle is when he is over there.

Subject: Sent to CBS News concerning truly awful Social Security story

John Roberts' piece on Social Security this evening was a disgrace. First of all, the assertion that the program is 'in crisis' is a highly contentious one. Roberts gave his viewers not the slightest hint that there is a range of opinion on this subject.

More disturbing was his grotesquely dishonest representation of Tad DeHaven as a National Taxpayer Union "Employee" and "poster child for Social Security reform," a concerned young everyman just "six years out of school." A google search taking less than 10 seconds reveals that DeHaven is a well-known rightwing apparatchik, an analyst at the Cato Institute, and an advocate for tort 'reform,' Social Security privatization and other rightwing causes. His writing on these topics has been published widely in such rightwing publications as The National Review and The Washington Times.

Roberts' story was misrepresentation from beginning to end, a glaring crime of journalistic omission on several levels. He should be ashamed. Neither he nor DeHaven will have to rely on Social Security for their retirement. What do they care?

Sincerely,

Chuck Van Wey

Subject: CIA whistleblower fired for NOT LYING ABOUT IRAQ WMDs

The need to return the CIA to strictly an apolitical intelligence gathering agency instead of a terrorist organization is apparent, but this report indicates their inability to EVEN perform that function. How many thousands have to be killed and maimed and property damaged? Your tax dollars at work.

Ex-CIA officer alleges agency retaliated after he didn't falsify report (Washington Post/Seattle Times)

Subject: Where is the outrage?

Dear BuzzFlash:

I wanted to thank you for keeping us all updated on the latest election fraud information. I have kept an updated list of links to articles on the net on the NOW Politics and Economy board since election day and have used your site to find many of the links I've provided. I find it to be the most useful site on the net for finding this kind of info. Thank you!

I have been reading increasingly of people who just can't understand WHY more people aren't outraged at what seems so obviously to be election fraud. In an effort to understand this myself, I came up with an explanation that I wanted to share. Here is what I wrote on the NOW board:

"Where is the outrage?" I think I have a theory. (My husband tells me that it's a false analogy, but I like it!) I think that people when they undergo a great loss (the loss of democracy and all the assumptions it's based on), they go through stages in that process. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross described the stages in the acceptance of death as:

1. denial
2. anger
3. bargaining
4. depression
5. acceptance

I think we all are in various of these stages. Where this falls apart is if we believe that the election outcome is not yet determined. (Denial?) If it is inevitable, then we all need to get through these stages and come to acceptance that our democracy is DEAD...will be DEAD for a very long time...probably for the remainder of our lifetimes!

Many Americans are still in stage one...DENIAL...this COULDN'T happen in OUR country! Not the good ol U.S. of A.! We live with myths about our country that we find very hard to see beyond.

Some of us are angry. My sister-in-law wears black to express her anger!

Bargaining...the democrat party maneuvers to select a leader who can help us win the next one...denial that the next elections will ALL be stolen!

Depression...."I can't think about this. I'll just have a stiff drink and get ready for the holidays...accompanied by feelings of sadness and hopelessness."

Acceptance...I HOPE NOT!!

Go to your state capitol and let them know you don't accept this election. What stage behavior would THAT be? Bad analogy? Pooh!

Does this make sense? If it does, perhaps we can use it to WAKE PEOPLE UP and help them to progress beyond denial?!! I'm not sure how, but perhaps some other people will have ideas.

Regards,

Beth Conant

Subject: An idea for Bush's coron...er, inauguration.

Thanks to Suellen for the inspiration. She wrote (12/09):

Subject: Humvees and Balls

I heard Mr. Rumsfeld's elitist remarks today concerning the armor or lack thereof, to protect our children in your war. I think a person who cares would consider their protection first and foremost especially since none of you have any first hand experience in a war. How much did I hear the taxpayers are spending on your inauguration and the fancy dress balls? I would love to see that postponed as long as we are mired in this war, and the money better spent to take care of our servicemen and women. This would be the fair and proper thing to do in this emergency. Like any other family, the government must pay their bills before they play.

I just read (in today's NYT) that Bush & Co. are soliciting contributions of $100,000 (for an intimate "candlelight dinner") and $250,000 (including an exclusive "lunch" with W and Laura; maybe it's half-price if the twins attend too) as part of the inaugural celebrations (or, for the rest of us, deep mourning). Here's my idea: Why not turn ALL of the inaugural events into costume parties? Attendees would buy -- in lieu of cash donations -- and wear full body armor to the dinners, lunches, and balls. (Of course, no one would be caught dead wearing the same armor twice, so multiple outfits would be purchased.) When the festivities ended, the armor would be shipped -- presumably even THIS administration would foot the shipping bill -- to Iraq and distributed to our troops. The faithful elite would have a blast pretending to be authentic military personnel (isn't that what key members of this administration do all the time anyway?), and maybe our military personnel wouldn't have to dumpster dive for scrap metal to protect themselves. Just a thought.
