From Olbermann's generic response to the support he's received from the BLACK BOX VOTING FRAUD story he ran Monday night: " ... last night, we [Olbermann] received 1,570 e-mails (none of them duplicates or forms, as near as I can tell). 1,508 were positive, 62 negative.

THAT'S A MANDATE!!!

Subject: ashcroft resigns?

You've REALLY gotta wonder why they shitcanned his ass. I doubt it's in order to install a more telegenic and moderate-friendly face in preparation for the campaign in '08 (the telegenic and supposedly moderate Arnold?) They're not that concerned with that after their success in this election.

There has to be some truly awful scandal brewing in which Ashcroft is a key figure and they're getting him out of public scrutiny before it hits, hoping to limit collateral damage. Has to be. Why else would they chop such a loyal bagman and zealot? That's not W's style.

Maybe it has something to do with the reason he had to recluse himself from the Plame investigation? Nah, that's not big enough. They'll slip the noose on that one. Got to be something bigger. Like maybe 9/11 related? Something so huge and ugly that even your average Bush zombie would flinch...

Take note if in the near future some obscure investigative reporter meets with an untimely accidental demise...

Subject: Wed Morning Press Release-Justice Through Music Reward Fund

$100,000 !REWARD! FOR EVIDENCE OF VOTE FRAUD

Justice Through Music, www.jtmp.org, which strongly supports the democratic principles of transparency and honesty in the electoral process, is offering at least a $100,000 reward to any person or persons who provide conclusive and verifiable evidence that the results of the 2004 presidential election were not correctly tabulated because of one or more of the following reasons: 1) hacking into the voting machines; 2) software or coding problems with voting or tabulating machines; 3) multiple counting by machines or humans, 4) improperly implanted codes in voting machines; 5) tampering with voting machines, voting cards or final tabulation numbers; 6) officials or machines not counting all the votes or adding votes; 7) official influence which changed vote totals, or 8) other problems with vote tabulation not noted here. All information and evidence should be submitted to reward@jtmp.org. Questions should be submitted to questions@jtmp.org.

In order to receive the reward, the evidence provided must be sufficient to affect the outcome of the presidential race, and evidence from more than one state can be used for that purpose. If a person who provides the information desires confidentiality for any reason including a fear of retribution, he or she should indicate that in their submission. A board of five persons will determine the disbursement of the reward on or before February 1, 2005.

Persons who want to make a tax-deductible contribution to this reward fund can do so through the secure PAYPAL donation button on the right. We want to provide the strongest incentive possible for people to come forward with substantial inside information, so make your donations generous. In the event no one meets the criteria for the reward, all funds donated to the reward fund shall be used to insure that all future votes are verifiable through a countable paper trail.

Subject: please do us all a favor!

I'm sitting here listening to talk of billions and trillions of dollars... this mean nothing to me and I'll bet it doesn't mean a damn thing to any one else...

can you guys do something that puts the national debt and spending into terms that normal people can understand?

For example, can you relate what the government takes in vs. what it spends and its debt in terms that someone who makes 50 or 100K per year? What kind of debt would that person have?

I need some ammo against all of these idiot conservatives....

Thanks,

Chris

Subject: Bush & The Hispanic Bulge

A lot of stupid pundits speak of this torrent of Latinos running to the side of GW. Bush. This is a canard. This is an important point to demonstrate as media pundits (the Republicans and their phony opposition drinking buddies, the fake left) revel in Hispanics who have supposedly declared their independence from the Democrats. Karl Rove fed them this pile and they, in true character, ate it up like the lap dogs they are.

If these guys with the 6 figure salaries & 2 figure IQ's would look at the "adjusted" Exit polls, they would figure out that Bush's Brain was outwitting them -once again.

In the Midwest, home of most of the Battleground States, Bush ran 3% BEHIND his 2000 showing against Gore among Latinos, 35%. In the East, Bush's Latino showing improved from 28%- 35%. In the West, where Latinos comprise 13% of the total vote, Bush improves from 35% -39%. The real funny result comes from Dixie, where - get this- Baby Bush improves his standing with Hispanics from 33 % to an astounding 64% share of the vote! Where do the vast majority of Southern Latinos call home? Why none other than Jebby's Florida and Georgie's, I should I say Jorge's, adopted home state of Texas.

Was this Southern Latino Bush Landslide reward for a job well done or theft from two states where the Bushies run the show? (Team Bush wanted to run up the score in Texas to secure a popular vote victory nationwide.)

Before the Consortium Exit poll Cats got the shivers, they issued a release stating that Baby Bush was running below his 2000 totals in the Florida Cuban and non Cuban Hispanic voting bloc in '04. Boy did that change, the final exit numbers showed Bush crushing Kerry among Dixie Hispanics by a margin of almost 2-1!

As for the piffle that Hispanics tipped the balance of power to Baby Bush, it is simply not true. Latinos were a drag in the Midwest, where the election was won. They had no impact in the South, save for Florida where the Latino surge was, in all probability, the product of vote Fraud. In the West, the only state where Hispanics allegedly tipped the scales for Bush was New Mexico, a state with a whopping 5 electoral votes. As in Florida, the exit polls showed a Kerry victory while the real results flashed Blood Red for Der President. In the East, Kerry weathered the "Hispanic Storm" and swept all the electoral votes from Maryland extending up the East Coast to Maine.

Again Hispanics were a non factor in determining the outcome of the race. I don't make these claims because I wish to denigrate the involvement of Latinos in the electoral voting process. Far from it, they constitute a large and ever growing part of the New American Electorate that will come in full bloom in the years 2035-2050. I just don't want crooked political operatives to besmirch their reputation, spreading the notion that they are responsible for the four year prison sentence we are now forced to endure in America and around the world.

Subject: Bashing the South

Dear BuzzFlash,

Perhaps you think the article "Fuck the South" is funny, but as a southerner who voted for Kerry I do not. It reflects an angry, biased attitude based on stereotypes and untruths.

It's difficult for those of us who are Democrat or Independent living in the "red states" and having ire and insults heaped on our region certainly doesn't help. Why would BuzzFlash support such unproductive behavior?

Look at the numbers. Kerry got 46% of his votes in red states! One would think BuzzFlash would be seeking to reach out to southern voters rather then denigrating them. It's the conservatives who seem to be benefiting from a culture war, why encourage such division?

If BuzzFlash's goal is to foster truth in government and to help improve democracy in the US then there is no place for bigotry and snobbery (though it's rather ironic to think of an author whose favorite word is "fuck" as a snob...)

I'm a regular reader of your web site and have used many of the articles as ammunition in various political articles, which is why I am offended and aghast to find such an insulting article on your site. I am used to having my region bashed in the popular media; I thought BuzzFlash was above that.

I would like to think that this single article doesn't actually reflect BuzzFlash's attitudes and was posted in a moment of weakness brought on by an emotional reaction to the recent election. If I'm right and you don't really agree with the article I believe you should post an apology and take a stance against such unhelpful, vituperative attitudes.

If I'm wrong and you actually do agree with the article, please let me know so I can delete the bookmark for your web site.

Yours,

Lowell Cunningham

Subject: mail....11/9

And, really all mail since the election. We are but tiny gnats on a big pile of republican
crap....that is what it is...and our democratic leaders are not much better. I am sick to death of the hand wringing! The story of Athan in Tennessee broke my heart...that we almost know, he died for the cause...but, no one in the timid, wimpy democratic party is big enough to pick up the banner and start...who are we??? We cannot do jack shit! We have no say in anything!!

I have written a long letter to Terry McAuliffe regarding the election. He had written
a letter to me...telling me that there was money left to start thinking about the 2008
election...what??? People, I am too old to go through this another election cycle.
I have lost hope. Do they not read what we read?? Are they going to just roll over
again?

I personally, am sick to death of it. I do not have the heart to even think...I had such
hope...and there is always that nagging wonder.... If it had been Howard Dean...would
he have stood up to them....maybe!!

To Randi, Liz and Renee....polls before the election...laid out the land and who were Bush backers...and who were democrats. It was understood back then...that Bush backers were at the most high school graduates...maybe drop outs...and were churchgoers at least once a week...many fundamentalists...which does not mean fundamentalist Catholics...it is fundamentalists...baptists...or Assembly of God (Ashcroft's) religion.
Those of us who backed Kerry were college graduates (or higher learning people), many post college level...and carried their faith in their hearts, not on their sleeve, or into the vote booth. I am not a college graduate...but took classes after high school and became a professional...not big...but educated myself!

It is true in almost every case...not all. In cases I have seen of people who are college level...the ones who are not Kerry backers...were very strong fundamentalists. Small town people....are the most vulnerable.

My cousin, who ran for representative in a small town...large district...was absolutely
smashed into the floor. Thing is, he had had four terms in this same job back in the
eighties. That, my friends...is how much the world has changed...it is frightening.
My cousins, two of them, came from St. Louis, went to a small town...and became Bush lovers. They are fundamentalists. She constantly sends me e-mails about Jesus and prayer and if I do not send this on....bad things will happen to me...and if I send it...I will be helped financially and God will bless me in all ways (chain letters for God). I politely thank her for her prayers...and immediately forget it.
Almost everyone I have ever talked to in this little town are Jesusland occupants for Bush.

It is so dumbing down...

Recently...she sent me something derogatory about Kerry...and in return...I asked her something (I apologize that I do not even remember it now)....but, she put it off on her son, who is a fundamentalist. He said he did not stand for any democrats because they stood for abortion! Okay...I understand that...he is a man...and men should not ever legislate abortion...in the first place..............but I asked her how he felt about the war in Iraq...about the 100,000 innocent Iraqis killed. And, of course, I did not get an answer back...I have never gotten an answer to that question.

If anyone in this mail room has ever asked that question of any rightwinger...and gotten
any answer other than the lying ones bush and his gang have given...please tell me. At first, they all tied it into 911. Then when they realized Saddam had nothing to do with Bin laden....they said it was because there were ties to Al Qaeda...and when that was debunked, idiots still say that they harbor and breed terrorism. Well, Hell. Is that good enough? I say not...but, then...I am a democrat...what do I know?

Sorry.. I am just not getting over this...and all the preaching about..."Ah now, come on, we have to pull together and sing Cumbaya."...nah..we do not...not yet!!

Right, now, I am living my life....reading BuzzFlash every day...the one bright spot for a lot of us...the sanity of our lives.. If not for this site, I would truly be lost.

You see, my problem is that I am not that young anymore...I do not know if I can go through another election...work for the candidate...put up the yard sign and proudly display the bumper sticker. I hope I can, but then, I hope we get a candidate who will not wimp out, when he knows that the vote is crooked!!!!

Love ya...Buzz...and all the readers...you all keep me sane.

Subject: Sickening Disney-Owned ABC News Portrayal of Voter Irregularities...

Whatever happened to "We Report You Decide...?" ABC News is beginning to sound like Fox News. You should get a transcript of the revolting way that ABC News just covered the voting irregularities of the 2004 election. I don't have the exact words but I will paraphrase it. It went something like as follows.

"Conspiracy theories are all over the internet with very little evidence...." They proceeded to pick and choose stories that they could ridicule and leave out the most important points. They concluded their piece with, "I guess for SOME people, election results are not enough."

What in the world would we do without BuzzFlash? I am going to make a donation right now.

Subject: Google Search Results on "voter fraud" Being Censored? Update

Dear Buzz:

It seems that censoring Google results is already being done in China. I have read that all news stories critical of the Beijing Govt. are removed from the results page. I have pasted the link to that story below. It is clear that they CAN censor the results quite easily, the question is are they doing it domestically in regard to the issue of vote fraud and why? Very scary!

Subject: Analysis of Florida Counties

Hello,

Yesterday I read "Evidence Mounts That The Vote May Have Been Hacked." I had already been to http://ustogether.org/Florida_Election.htm and decided to do some more comparison of Florida's counties in 2000 and 2004.

Attached is a graph comparing (1) changes in the number of registered Republican and Democratic voters from 2000 to 2004, to (2) changes in number of votes received by the Republican and Democratic candidates from 2000 to 2004. The "Dixiecrat" theory seems partially correct for small counties, but the biggest anomalies on the graph are actually Broward, Palm Beach, and several of the counties that switched from Gore in 2000 to Bush in 2004. There is an additional resource at the end of the message that draws attention to some of the same counties as my analysis.

Disclaimer: Florida is still adding up votes, so some of my numbers for changes in votes may be a bit off. That said, feel free to print/publish any of the information in this message.

1) Many small counties (which happen to use optical-scan) seem to have quite a few registered Democrats that regularly vote Republican. Fraud and irregularity don't seem that likely in these counties -- they seem to fall under the "Dixiecrat Theory."

2) Fraud and irregularity seem more likely here: between 2000 and 2004, some counties saw bigger increases in Democratic registration than Republican registration, BUT bigger increases for Bush than for the Democratic candidate (in terms of votes).

Look at the graph for an illustration of some of the "anomalies." The data for the anomalies illustrated on the graph is outlined below.

Broward (Gore2000, Kerry2004) E-Touch
The number of registered Republicans increased 20735
The number of registered Democrats increased 90551
The number of votes for Bush increased 58,892
The number of votes for Dem candidate increased 54,030

Hillsborough (Bush2000, Bush 2004) E-Touch
The number of registered Republicans increased 38787
The number of registered Democrats increased 44128
The number of votes for Bush increased 60,870
The number of votes for Dem candidate increased 41,335

Palm Beach (Gore2000, Kerry2004) E-Touch
The number of registered Republicans increased 5064
The number of registered Democrats increased 40856
The number of votes for Bush increased 21,282
The number of votes for Dem candidate increased 5,298

Pinellas (Gore2000, Bush2004) E-Touch
The number of registered Republicans DECREASED 8578
The number of registered Democrats increased 12,668
The number of votes for Bush increased 37,805
The number of votes for the Dem candidate increased 21,473

Hernando (Gore2000, Bush 2004) Op-scan
The number of registered Republicans increased 4953
The number of registered Democrats increased 4977
The number of votes for Bush increased 9,491
The number of votes for the Dem candidate increased 2,362

Orange (Gore2000, Kerry2004) Op-scan
The number of registered Republicans increased 30557
The number of registered Democrats increased 57818
The number of votes for Bush increased 56,872
The number of votes for the Dem candidate increased 51,810

Osceola (Gore2000, Bush 2004) Op-scan
The number of registered Republicans increased 10320
The number of registered Democrats increased 14748
The number of votes for Bush increased 6,600
The number of votes for the Dem candidate increased 2,114

Additional resource: http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0411/S00124.htm#3

A huge number of Bush's new voters did not come from - as you would expect - rural America and white suburbia - but actually from large urban, minority heavy, Democrat held counties.

...in Florida seven of the top 10 Bush vote gaining counties used Touch screens. Between them these Touch Screen (read as unauditable) counties account for nearly 500k of Bush's total vote increase in the sunshine state, more than enough to cover his 380,000 vote majority. In Florida Bush achieved an incredible 38%+ growth in his vote over 2000 levels, and remember even the 2000 levels are questionable.

Subject: Diebold needs to be declawed

A surprising victory in the 2004 campaign came when Sinclair Broadcasting backed down from showing an anti-Kerry screed after people threatened to boycott their sponsors, and probably more importantly, institutional investors like the New York state retirement fund,
questioned their actions. We need to do that on an even larger scale, starting with Diebold, and followed by the right wing media.

It might also be worth a letter or call to your bank to find out if they use diebold equipment, and letting them know you intend to move your business elsewhere if they do.

We are half the people or more in this country, and we don't want our money supporting institutions that help subvert democracy and encourage hatred and fear in place of honest debate and problem solving.

With all of the hand wringing regarding the Liberal Media, why don't we all admit that things did not work out as Reagan had planned and reinstate the Fairness in Broadcasting Doctrine?

I am tired of hearing that the slant is to the left when it appears that all pigs are not equal at all regarding fairness in coverage. Why don't we settle it and break up the corporately owned liberal media?

Subject: The Free Press Joke

Dear Mr Kristof,

Hope you are well. Another intelligent article.

I watch the panels of print-and-tube journalists assemble on C-Span. At some point you can be sure that you'll hear "we're not doing such a bad job..."

I always fantasize that I get to speak to the panel and here's what I say:

"You are a Soviet-style press. You have abandoned the interest of the people. About 45 million people who voted for George Bush believe fantastic and untrue things about WMD's, a Saddam-9/11 connection, and a Saddam-al qaeda connection.

"Please stop pretending that you are anything but failures in informing the Public. And don't imagine because you've published some article one day on page A10 that you've created a plausible deniability. No. You behave precisely as a propaganda agent of authority and wealth, and the public-be-damned. In fact--and you can barely conceal it--you consider the public a bunch of morons. Wrong. We are kept ignorant by your failure
to insist on truth, to call a lie a lie when it is told. The only difference between the 70% who believed all the Iraq lies in the US and the 80% who believed none of them in the rest of the world is the American Press."

Along those lines. I mean "Soviet-style" literally. You can read, in translation, some of the articles in the Soviet Press of the 30s and 40s. Sure you've got the corrupt official stories, the latest rumors, op-ed pages with the pros and cons of particular policies to be decided soon, and the like. Looks just like our press, though apparently the Soviet-style new man didn't commit any street crime. But all of these stories served the Master's interests. That's how you guys are now.

So you know what? Stop whining. If the Press had kept the public's interest as their focus, we would have never had the kind of scum that betrays our chief WMD operative (undercover) for venal reasons in--can you name where?--why, Saudi Arabia! You know "Saudi Arabia" like in "al-qaeda's home base" like in "where 15 of the hijackers came from." Burn her and her colleagues for pique and just shut up about who did it.

So Judith Miller won't tell. The same Judith Miller who fed us lie after lie from that possible agent of Iran, noted international criminal, and general sociopath, Chalabi. Lies that played their part in the death of 1,200 Americans with many thousands more to come. Lost limbs and jaws for thousands more. And--of course we don't say this in banner headlines, barely whisper it in American news reports--100,000 dead Iraqi civilians in
only a year and half! Frankly, they can slam Miller's butt in jail if she won't help expose a major criminal act against the interests of all America and I'll have no tears for her.

Remember the debates? After the debates, where did the press corps go to get response? Did you see any broadcasts from church groups in Iowa? Did you see any from bars on 23rd Street? Construction sites in, well someone must be working in construction somewhere. No. Everyone ran right to "Spin Alley." Media gave professional propagandists the microphones and let them spin their lies instead. After that we were presented with "polls" which confirmed one or another "spin" and we were told that's what we think.

Mr. Kristof, if the Press wants the sympathy of the people, then, dammit, they MUST cease and desist from active collaboration with the manifest destruction of America and its vital principals. They must actually inform us.

Thank you for your time,

Jim Pittman

PS: Here's some stories that'll get anyone ratings and subscriptions: 195,000 thousand Americans are killed by hospitals every year. Another 100,000 or so by personal doctors and drug interactions. In the last 24 hours, that's about 800 Americans! Gosh, do you think an audience can be found for that kind of story if it were featured every day? No? How about "Christians in $3,000 Suits--Corruption or Sign of God's Favor"? 95% of
incumbents always re-elected? Like in the Soviet Union, with fixed voting machines. Examples of news unreported by our Free Press are boundless in this literally fabulous land you've all done so much to help create.

Subject: It Started With A Simple, Peaceful, yet Powerful Suggestion.

Hi Gang!

You don't have to post this but you can let it be known that a lone and very angry BuzzFlasher got this ball rolling.

http://www.turnyourbackonbush.org/

I think I posted the original idea in the Mailbag first and then I got busy...

First, I hit Air America, then Michael Moore's site, the Democratic Underground, Billionaires for Bush, and a slew of others.

This is what I sent all of them:

*PLEASE FORWARD THIS ON!*

I don't want to take up too much of your time but I wanted to pass an idea off to you.

When Bush's inauguration parade takes place, there will undoubtedly be thousands of Americans there who intend to protest in the same or if not more extreme manner they did after the 2000 election.

Is there some way to get the word out to those who intend to create a spectacle to consider a more peaceful if not far more powerful form of protest? Already, the D.C. police and National Guard are gearing up for massive security precautions. What I would hate to see are those of us who are so angry they will resort to efforts that will lead to violence and their arrests.

I will do my part by tracking down and emailing every Bush protest web site on the internet to pass on this idea.

If people must go to Washington to protest, I ask only that they do this simple and yet most powerful form of protest.

While the cameras of the media from around the world are trained on the inaugural procession, I would like the protesters to do one simple thing.

First, bring no signs, no shirts, no buttons, anything that shows you to be anti-Bush and definitely no eggs. Bring nothing and do nothing that gives the 'conservative right' and their mouthpieces something to demean you by.

Just bring yourself, your camera, your car keys, your cell phones, and your purse or wallet. Carrying an American flag or wearing red, white, or blue wouldn't hurt.

Be peaceful and do not engage in conversation with anyone except those that came with you.

When the presidential motorcade reaches your position, do one simple thing: Turn around and face the other way.

If confronted in any way by supporters of the president, do not respond in any way and if you are physically touched (shoved, attempts made to turn you around, or are outright assaulted) you should press charges immediately.

Bush and the Republicans made no effort to reach out to us or listen to our concerns for four years nor do I think they will try that much harder during the next four.

Do unto others as they would do unto you - turn your back on him.

Thank you for your time.

If you want to post this as a matter of pride, feel free to do so. It will serve to show everyone that visits BuzzFlash that one small voice in the wilderness does get heard from time to time.

Subject: Hmmm

I wondered how long it would take for some nut-case judge or lawyer to bring up a passage from Bush vs. Gore. Below is an excerpt from the Miami Herald:

The judge looked at the U.S. Supreme Court reasoning in its decision cutting off Florida's manual recount and handing the 2000 election to President Bush. The nation's high court ruled at that time that the state could not "value one person's vote over that of another."

The request covering only two of Florida's 67 counties would "result in the very granting of greater voting strength to one group over another," violating the one man-one vote principle, Gold wrote. The outcome would be unconstitutional "unequal treatment."

NOW THE PROBLEM: Didn’t the USSC say that the decision they handed down in Bush vs. Gore COULD NEVER BE REFERRED TO IN A COURT OF LAW AGAIN AS AN EXAMPLE?

Subject: MSNBC LAST NIGHT...GOOD COVERAGE OF RECOUNT

If you can get hold of the transcript, Keith Olbermann on MSNBC Countdown last night had an extensive...12 minutes, wow!...on the election recounts. It was very positive for our side, very negative for the validity of the election. Craig Crawford and John Tolbey were
interviewed. The latter was extremely vocal about his surprise that Kerry had conceded, how that was political not legal and how it was definitely not impossible for him to win, what with provisionals, absentees, chad ballots thrown out and in general the 70% of the state voting on punch cards. He also mentioned how other states could be challenged to get to a 269/269 tie. They discussed how this was not being covered by mainstream because of the concession, but how they could still be missing a HUGE story.

This is, of course, how these things may get into the mainstream. I know from my contacts that lots of stuff is going on with the Democratic party on the ground and with their legal teams. Maybe in some ways it's better that the press and the Repubs aren't
getting total wind of all this which might, in turn, return us to FL 2000 with Republican riots. Working under the radar may be a good thing...

Anyway, that transcript would be a good thing to run.

I am sure you have heard of the discrepancies here in Ohio regarding the number of votes cast last Tuesday vs. number of registered voters. It's been reported that in Cuyahoga County alone, 93,000 more votes were cast than there are registered voters.
See: http://boe.cuyahogacounty.us/BOE/results/currentresults1.htm

"Cuyahoga County Board of Elections: Current Election Results"

I printed off the county's election results. I compared ballots cast with registered voters. WHAT THE DISCREPANCY COULD BE IS PROVISIONALS THAT HAVE NOT YET BEEN COUNTED. But the numbers are incredibly ridiculous.

Just take one look at these - in Oakwood, a predominantly black community - could there possibly be almost 4,400 provisionals? In Moreland Hills - a white upper class community - could there be 1,600 provisionals? In Fairview Park - a white middle to upper middle class city - could there be 5,000 provisionals?

Look at these discrepancies:

REGISTERED VOTERS - OAKWOOD VIL 2746
BALLOTS CAST OAKWOOD VIL 7099

REGISTERED VOTERS - MORELAND HILLS VIL 2990
BALLOTS CAST MORELAND HILLS VIL 4616

REGISTERED VOTERS - MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS 12713
BALLOTS CAST - MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS 14854

REGISTERED VOTERS - FAIRVIEW PARK 13342
BALLOTS CAST - FAIRVIEW PARK 18472

I understand, it only requires 5 registered voters per county to call for a recount. Will you please get 5 Democrats per county in Ohio to call for a recount of each county's vote?

You can start with me - Gail ----- of Lakewood, Ohio - as one registered voter in Cuyahoga County. This issue is bigger than who really won. If they added up all the votes that went kaflooey, would Kerry still have enough to win? Probably not. I'm not talking about winners and losers in a race. If the electoral process is a loser, then none of us WIN.

The point is fair elections are what this is about. This is not about Democrats and Republicans. This is about America. This is about our most basic and precious civil right. I want an investigation to make sure Americans' votes count.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Subject: How to move the progressive agenda forward

What I'd like to see is a progressive-liberal version of the American Spectator magazine. We have organizations set up which take the high road quite effectively -- CAP and Media Matters, for example -- but none which effectively and persuasively get us points by taking the low road.

What many post-election gurus are leaving out of their campaign post-mortems is the effect of the Swift Boar Liar campaign. It was enormously effective in taking a bite out of John Kerry. Anecdotally, I know people at work who never quite got over the nagging feeling that John Kerry wasn't telling the truth about his Viet Nam war record. Campaign 2004 proved yet again that negative attacks work, and work well. It won't be enough for us in the future to just take the high road, or to expect the media to effectively debunk outrageous negative attacks. Our only choice in terms of competing effectively is to play the same game. That's why I'd like to see a pro-Democrat American Spectator type magazine that takes the low road and goes after the Republicans the way the Swift Boat Liars (led by Karl Rove, no doubt), went after Kerry.

Subject: Onward to 2006

Now that we have had sufficient time to lick our wounds, right now, please, let's pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and make sure we "hand them their heads" in the midterms.

I like Mark Green's reminder of what French Field Marshall Foch told headquarters about his situation during the Battle of the Marne: "My center has collapsed. My right flank is weakening. Situation excellent. I am attacking."

Also, let us never forget who we are. There is no reason that it can't make all the difference in the world...again!

We the People of the United States (not neoconservative militarists, or the religious right), in Order to form a more perfect Union (not a viciously polarized Empire for parochial gain), establish Justice (not an authoritarian paternalism), insure domestic Tranquility (not bogus 'culture wars'), provide for the common defense (not political incumbency at any cost), promote the general Welfare (not tax breaks for the rich), and secure the Blessings of Liberty (not "privatization") to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. -- Constitution for the USA By the Unanimous Order of the States at the Constitutional Convention, September 17, 1787

Good luck.

Sum of a Glitch: Evidence shows that machines might be the real swing voters this November, By Bev Harris (8/24/04, In These Times)

In the Alabama 2002 general election, machines made by Election Systems
and Software (ES&S) flipped the governor's race. Six thousand three
hundred Baldwin County electronic votes mysteriously disappeared after the
polls had closed and everyone had gone home. Democrat Don Siegelman's victory was handed to Republican Bob Riley, and the recount Siegelman requested was denied. Three months after the election, the vendor shrugged.
"Something happened. I don't have enough intelligence to say exactly what,"
said Mark Kelley of ES&S.

Subject: Remember Dan Senor?

I have it from a source I consider reliable that the order for the arrest of Muqtada al-Sadr in early April, 2004, which came as such a surprise and threw the country into chaos for two months, came from Dan Senor. Senor is said to have acted on instructions from
Neoconservatives in the Pentagon, and to have kept Paul Bremer, his putative boss, out of the loop. Bremer was presented with a fait accompli.

Subject: Speeches get heavy rewrites for politeness

Jack Corrigan, a senior aide in the '88 Dukakis shipwreck, is now insisting that Bush won the election. Those raising questions are nuts.  The real nut (or worse) would appear to be Mr. Corrigan. He ordered that Mr. Bush receive little or no criticism at the Democratic Convention in Boston. Speeches containing criticism of the Bush junta were edited, in true Pravda style. The Republicans tar-and-feathered Mr. Kerry. The net result of both Conventions: Kerry went from 3% up to 5% down and had to spend the entire fall digging himself out of this Corrigan created hole.  This guy has the distinction of sinking two presidential nominees from Massachusetts against the Bush dynasty, father and son.

Speeches get heavy rewrites for politeness (Associated Press/St. Petersburg Times, July 26, 2004)

BOSTON - In a windowless room beneath the podium, a team of speech writers is imposing John Kerry's will on the words of the other speakers at the Democratic National Convention. Their orders: Go easy on the Bush bashing.
Each speech is read and reread, heavily edited and rehearsed as part of a tightly controlled process designed to impress independent voters who are tired of negative politics. Mindful of polls showing voters say they need more information about Kerry, the team also is ensuring that speeches are laced with the candidate's biography and policies.

Campaign spokeswoman Debra DeShong said speakers are getting clear direction "because we do have a very clear message that John Kerry and John Edwards will make us stronger at home and respected in the world. Our speech process is helping people get comfortable with that message."

For most speakers, the process began when they received a three-page memo titled "Procedures for Convention Speakers" from Jack Corrigan, Kerry's convention point man. It offered the services of speech writers and coaches, as well as personal assistants to help speakers navigate security, deadlines and other big-day minutia.

First drafts were due a week before the convention, Corrigan wrote, warning that "suggestions" might be made "to help highlight the campaign's themes for the convention. Please understand that this system is not intended to 'take control' of your speech; rather, it helps ensure that each speaker makes the best possible speech and avoids embarrassing repetitions."

Subject: Voting

What can we do? There are millions of people who do not believe that this most recent election was legitimate. We need to mobilize. Up to this point the conservative media
refuses to investigate or carry the story. Democrats and Progressives have no public Wurlizter or echo chamber such as talk radio that allows stories to incubate, gather momentum and gain traction. Look what happened to poor Arlen Specter when he stepped out of line. His office is receiving phone calls at the rate of two to three a minute!

Demand that the media cover the theft of the election! All BuzzFlash readers need to contact ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, the cable news stations, your local stations and your congressional leaders to compel them to cover this story and demand investigations. We need to get some traction for this story, now. Imagine if each of your congress people, or the major networks started receiving phone calls, letters, faxes and emails demanding coverage at the same rate as Specter's office. If each of us took just 10-15 minutes out of our day, today, to dedicate to this endeavor, that would translate into
over 1,000,000 advocacy letters. Get off the bench and enter the game. Just do it!
